Oh man. I used a heating pad on my low back for ten minutes this morning. I could not straighten up out of my chair. It got so much worse. So I came to good old YT to get some knowledge. Ice it will be for a few days. My strain is one week old. So depressing. It’s giving me lots of compassion for people who have chronic back pain.

I developed some lower back pain a week ago , and initially used Ice , my problem was I transitioned to heat too quickly . I went back to ice again and am now feeling better , will continue with the ice for a few days in 20 minute increments an hour or so apart , Thank you for this post .

Im glad I clicked on your video. They've always told me to ice my back but never for how long. Thank you for letting us kniw that it's only 20 minutes or you can cause more pain then let rest for a hour or 2 and then you can place ice back again for another 20 minutes.👍

I learned a few things but not as much as I hoped. You talked about the classic injury protocol of "ice in the 1st 72 hours and heat thereafter". Well, that doesn't help me because I have chronic lower back arthritis (disk degenerative disease). For months (maybe years), I applied heat to my lower back and it never got any better and maybe worsened. I went to a chiropractor and he said I should be icing my lower back. As soon as I starting icing, it was a godsend. Significant and quick improvement. Because my problem is inflammation, I NEVER use heat on my lower back. The only time I consider using heat is when I have my regularly scheduled SEVERE back spasms a few times a year. With a spasm, I NEVER use ice but instead focus on stretching. What I consider a good general strategy is heat in the morning to loosen things up and get the blood moving and ice at night to deal with the wear and tear of the day. It has worked quite well for me. Unfortunately, there is nothing concrete you can take from my approach. In other words, it doesn't really make any sense. But it works for me.

In February 2011, I sustained a back injury while lifting a heavy object without proper form. My back was bent rather than straight, and as I lifted, I felt a severe cramp-like sensation, causing me to collapse onto a nearby bed. Since then, I've been unable to fully rotate or bend laterally without encountering a knot or stiffness around the bottom of my thoracic spine.
While watching a video, I began to suspect that a disc might have been overstretched. Could you provide any advice on this? Would performing back stretches, such as the cat-cow stretch and arching my back, be beneficial, or should I consult a doctor first?
    Thank you for your help.

What about spasms or a bit severe spasms, I wont call what I have as an injury, I do a workout and next day I get a strong spasm in my lower back sometimes due that my muscles are still so weak after a disc injury, I also had very low vitamin D for a long time which cause my muscles to be really stiff and weak but now it is back to normal. When I get these spasms should I use ice?

How to get rid of lumbar back pain and stiffness properly? Got hurt by pulling heavy water jar. Painkillers relieve pain but stiffness never goes. Specially in the morning after waking up. Pain and stiffness gets worse. Any permanent solution? Age is 30.

Please go to the doctor!! If you keep losing feeling in your finger after cutting off blood circulation, something is very wrong and you are at risk of long term damage to the finger

I pulled my back 5 or 6 days ago. Sucks because everyone disregards it or downplays it since I am 30 yrs old.

It's been 2 weeks now since I fell from bike and injured my left leg while balancing.
Injury is backside of knee (knee is fine) till middle of calf. Feels pain near left bone of calf area, if presses.
I can walk now but can't fold legs and sit in sqat position.
Which pack can heal faster at this stage ?
Can I start light stretching exercise ?

You should seek doctor immediately because the symptoms you're telling is showing a sign of minor ligament/tendon tear. Hope you'll recover soon.

It's been 1 year and 2 months since I injured myself it doesn't hurt so much I can walk but not so much my point is I am in the middle.
What procedure should I go with
    1. Should I use ice
    2. Or ice + hot water
    3. Or only hot water
