Same here. I've had back pain and my doctor thinks its due to my commuting to work and sitting in my car for long periods of time. My doctor mentioned it could be due to age but never broke it down for me like this video has. I'm in the gym now trying to see if it will make a difference. But I love these videos.
Same here. Most of the doctors I saw had the go-to answer of "lose weight". I do need to lose weight, but when I have degenerative disc disease, losing weight is not necessarily going to help.
I hated Biology at school (least favourite subject), but if this guy had been the teacher, it would have likely been my favourite subject, as I would have actually been incredibly interested & understood everything because of how great he is talking about the subject matter in a way that is both interesting and easy to follow. After watching this and a few other back videos I decided to purchase a horizontal roman chair. They're about 120 on Amazon. I've had back pain so bad at work I could barely walk and people kept asking what's wrong. After just a week with the roman chair, absolutely no more back pain. NONE after dealing with it for a year. The first time I did it, I was spent at 6 reps, now I can do 25. From my research the problem is often from weak back muscles, in my case it's proven correct. Side note, I also do the roman chair backwards. That is lying face down with my head where the foot posts are and do leg raises. That's my experience but it's something to consider if your doc can't find an actual cause of the back pain. By doc I don't mean a chiropractor.
I have scoliosis, sway back, a herniated disc in my lower back that's pinching nerves, and a tilted hip. The pain is constant and has greatly impacted what activites I am able to do. This video was super interesting and I'd love to see more about what contributes to back pain.
I feel for you Jamie, I have Scoliosis, spina bifida occulta, 3 bulged and 1 ruptured disk, I also have disk degeneration disease, I had to have a back operation in 2018 to free up compressed nerves so I know how you feel, it’s so hard having chronic back/leg pain, it makes me so grouchy, like a bear with a sore head 😢
I have many of your similar problems and found yoga, Tai Chi, or Chi Kung, stretches, exercises has helped me! Most times I can get around & have no pain unless I do something wrong.
I'm a 46 year old female who at 13 , was diagnosed with severe scoliosis. My curve was a 75 degree lumbar curve. I had surgery at 13 in SLC and had Herrington rods placed from T4-L4. I've recently been working with a PT who is specialized in the Schroth-Barcelona Method. It's super interesting on how breathing properly can help alleviate pain. It's all about elongation when it comes to scoliosis. Check it out sometime, if you haven't heard of it. I enjoyed your video!
Any chance of your teaming up with a physical therapist and really zooming in on the mechanical aspects of back pain relief? and what makes them 'crack' and why that comes with a lot of relief for some people? (thanks so much for your amazing channel and excellent presentations)
You guys would benefit from looking up Bob amd Brad. The best physical therapists on the internet. They offer soooo many great videos that go over options of all kinds of variations of back and neck pain and all kinds of other injuries. I like them because their stuff aligns with all the local guys I've seen, including chiros and physios.

This channel motivated me to finally stop procrastinating and get off my ass to register for whole body donation to a local medical school when I die. I wanted to donate my body to science anyway, but watching these videos really lit a fire under me to get that in order sooner rather than later. Sure I’m only 19 but hell I could end up on a LiveLeak video tomorrow for not looking both ways down the street. It’s honestly a huge relief and I feel good about my decision, so thanks guys! Yup in ‘21 I was letting my dog out n poof… bent over and couldn’t stand… hit the floor at the door n had to reach up n let my dog out…I was down, alone n could move… had to pull my rug over just to get the phone so I could call my sister… we’ll all said and done… yr later then operated on my L1, infused with a concrete form to lift the L2 n now here I am, still healing n doing better. As a 54 year old veteran who is about 100lbs overweight, I recently went back to the gym. About 3 years ago, I had been working out and had lost some weight but had a freak (non-workout related) accident where I shattered my kneecap and detached my patellar tendon. After some family tragedies, loss of employment and the pandemic, I am now back to trying to get back into shape and be healthy again. This time I decided to take a personalized diet plan from Next Level Diet, and even hire a personal trainer to make sure I don’t cause injuries to my 54 year old body with all my limitations from past accidents and age. My trainer and I are focusing on strength training to help with injury prevention and prevent osteoporosis (which runs in my family) and help with arthritis and balance. It has been about a month and I am already feeling so much stronger!!😎😎

Right on time!…..Just tweaked my back 6 days ago. I’m middle aged, played sports from 8-18, factory work for 21yrs, total work history of almost 30yrs. I’ve had rehab, shots, back surgery etc;. Unless, new technology comes out (I’m afraid this will be a problematic way m for me the rest of my life…🥺). My knee is throbbing as I type. The pain has been coming and going. All I did was bend down to lift and move a game machine in my basement. Bad posture, a pop, and now I’ve been in pain every since…Will stretch and get on the treadmill when I get home….Good Luck everyone!…🙏🏾❤️❤️
Do you have any tips? I had a c-section and strain my back muscles often leaving me hospitalized. I will be 30 on Saturday. I would love to get in better core shape but afraid of injury.
You are correct and at 60 something my back is fairly good. However, arthritis will convince you your back is a wreck while its damaging nerves. Proceed cautiously with any invasive procedure as it could make it worse.

4.5 years ago I was rear-ended in my car, sitting at a light. Herniated my L5-S1 and several bulges as well. I was an otherwise healthy and active guy. I try not to complain, because I know plenty of people have it worse, but I flat out can’t convey how much this has legitimately ruined my life. My work has suffered (I had a good career and was climbing the ladder), my gf of 7 years broke up with me because I’m constantly depressed and can’t do anything physical or fun anymore, and am borderline addicted to pain meds. I spend my life at countless drs appts, therapy, chiropractors, acupuncture, etc etc etc. I’ve had 17 or so surgical center procedures on top of the fusion surgery. It’s insane to think how one lady not pressing her right foot 4 inches down can destroy someone’s quality of life in an instant
She didn't really love you. It's painful- but it's better she leave than only want you when you're perfect. That's not real love. Love is in sickness OR in health- not just "in health". I promise, no matter what you're dealing with, you'll find one who will. Don't give up. I wish I could say or do something to help with your physical conditions. I can't imagine what a struggle that must be. I know there's a way, legal or not, for you to regain your vitality. Please don't give up and please keep looking. I know you can get it all back. I can't say how, but I'm sure there's a combination of natural approaches that will give you your life back. Keep looking and keep trying. Don't give up. Don't forget about Cannabis, it's been know to work wonders before! Try to hang on. People out here are rooting for you.
Hope your back gets better sooner rather than later, and i also hope your ex gets the same issue so that she would get some insight.. i myself have been eating pregabalin and gabapentin for almost 3 years because of a motorcycle accident left half of my spine in a state of sciatica and L1/L3 herniated discs. These things are so painful that 2/3rds of the day i just want to jump off a roof... OFC not doing it, but its just that bad and i feel for everyone with even the slightest nerve/ disc issues. GET WELL SOON hopefully, although unlikely :/
I wish I can help you out. I was following a PhD from Canada, unfortunately I forgot his name. I followed a lot of pain management Dr, chiro’s, PT’s and this channel. I incorporated them all. But this PhD pain management and an athletic trainer wwere the best. By the way, I have a son who is soon- to- be an athletic trainer ( and he is into nutritional approach too) and I met his professor and I learned a lot from that professor. I just hope one day, I will be able to help those in pain. I have a very good health career foundation and experience so I do understand all your pain. Very soon i will focus on my channel to help you out guys! Hang in there! ( I always say God will provide the rest… but to those who doesn’t have the same belief as mine, I say stay strong and hang on)
I had same experience. Herniated disk and bulged disk in 3 levels . I did pt and took medication. I was waiting for my steroid injection for my back but I for pregnant . Due to pain I quit my job cause I didn’t want to have miscarriage. I rested for 4 months . After 6 months having the baby I went back to doctor to continue with mg treatment because I had some little pain and doctor convinced me to have the steroid shot . I had it and after I felt like my legs was numb. And I had terrible mental side effects from it .I told the doctor and he said drink a lot of water then he send me a letter where he said that I was fine after injection and not side effects . Now he wants to do surgery . I said NO because I don’t have pain onlg little tingling calf . I went to another doctor ( spine surgeon?) he told as long it doesn’t bother me I don’t need surgery . Don’t let anyone to cut your back and give time to your body to heal . My took 2 years to heal might not be perfect heal but I can finally sleep on my back w
What an great video on back pain, gives a great account on how it occurs and the mechanics. As someone with a herniated L5 and L4, that deals with sciatica in both legs. I can testify how awful it can be. Especially when you re-injure it. It's been 5 years and I'm not the same. Disc and back muscle pain, barely being able to move or twist. Not being able to lift things. It affects way more than you think it does. Take care of your back, it's the only one you've got lol Cool to actually see the sciatic nerve
Same happened to me more then a year ago. I watched a movie about a paraplegic lady and i was at a point where i was thinking to myself "that lady is lucky not to feel her legs". 3 months of nothing but extreme pain with just 2 hours of sleep. Every movement would hurt. Its hell on Earth. I was at point where i was thinking amputation is better then this... I re injured it 6 months ago i got into a deep depression... Hopefully a discectomy will be the solution...

As someone with spina bifida who deals with multiple pains at once due to that, such as trouble with walking, massive pain around the end of the back (which affects the leg as well) and maaany other bone/nerve issues in result of it, I'd like to see you talk about the different kinds of spina bifida and explain the consequences/symptoms of it. I have the "mildest" type and it's already horrifying, my mom's case is a very peculiar one because she pretty much has some missing bones (her spine didn't accompany her growth).
@@jordanmartin9723 yes! That can definitely help, but sadly only so much can be done by a chiropractor, as well as a doctor The tendency for it to get progressively worse even with all help runs quite high
I have a lot going on in my back as well, no idea where it starts or where it ends, but various pains all from uper rib cage downd to the hip, and then streaching out in the legs, mainly lower part of the legs and feet. Good days, i feal a tiny itchy kinda of pain, buy verry mild, less than 1, so i dont relay care, normaly days pain is in diferent part of the back scaled from 3-5, less movement - less pain. Bad days i rather dont move at all, as it instantly send intensive pain out, 7-8, spikes at 9, realy bad days ... well you see where its going. MRI didnt reveal anything, that could say it was becouse of this or that, latest doctor refear me to do some Yoga and recomended me to try akupunkture, as i am right now, 2 treatments so far, but no idea where this will lead. Im happy for all those days when im at 2 or less in pain
I’ve just come out of hospital after having a heart attack with phnomia. I had most of the symptoms you described . I’m 60 yrs old and had been weak and sick for a while, I also have asthma which is why I thought I was just having a an asthma attack. My partner rang the ambulance and I’m so glad he did!
This is really helpful information so thank you! Heart attacks are very common in my family but they typically have only happened to men because I’m the first girl in quite some time and I’ve heard the symptoms can be very different for women. I have a much healthier diet and weight than the men in my family who’ve suffered heart attacks but yet I still have high cholesterol in my early 20’s, so healthy eating and weight don’t seem to matter much if your genetics are terrible. It’s always a concern of mine that I won’t even realizing I’m having a heart attack until it’s too late.
I used to have strong sciatic pain before 2010, in 2010 I fell 3 meters and landed on my bum. Broke my back in 2 places L4 and L3, broke my Kocsis and my right hand. I was fitted with a back brace that at the top went under and over my arm pits, 4 x 12mm s/steel posts connected to the top brace, 2 front and 2 rear, they were attached to a hip brace. My back was held bolt up straight with this brace for 10 weeks. The brace also held upright tension stretching my back and I believe this helped to repair my L5 bulging disc as the scan show my back even in 2023 has no bulging discs. Each day I exersise with moderate weights 25Kg (20 lifts), 40-50 pushups and 5 kilometer walks. I'm now 61 and feel stonger and better that in my 40's.

I was diagnosed with a bulge at L4 and L5 a couple days ago, just bad luck, i thought I was being dramatic and it was muscle pain but this makes me feel a lot better, like I’m not being a big baby for no reason! Loved this video, cheers
Love these videos! One of the things they didn't cover this time, is vitamin deficiency. I had severe back pain for 7+ years. I saw a few doctors in that time. The last was an Ortho. They said I had a degenerated disk that was causing my pain. They said they could offer a couple of PT sessions. If it got worse we could talk pain meds and if that wasn't enough we could talk surgery. I was 37 and they made it sound like something I was going to have to live with for the rest of my life. I had a physical few months later, they told me my vitamin D was extremely low. I started taking D, with no expectations of the changes it might bring. Within 3 months my back pain was gone! What I learned after that was that we're degenerating from our late teen-early 20s, you just wouldn't know it unless you had an x-ray. I'm not saying to start taking vitamin D. I'm saying to get some basic blood work done. I wish someone had said that to me in the early days of my pain. The years of pain I could have avoided ( angrily shakes first). I've been taking D for 3+ years( getting my levels checked periodically), I am still pain free.
The medical industry isn't interested in cheap cures, but in invasive interventions and life long medication. Vitamin D is essential for all of the body functions and immunity. I'm glad you' re doing well now.
I'm way stronger and tougher in my late 20ies than I have ever been and continue getting stronger and tougher. Some dmg accumulates from conception, but it doesn't have to have any effect until much, much later.
My explanation of my back pains before watching the video: 1. It feels like my lower back is “too curved” and I need to bend forward (touch your toes direction) in order to relieve the stress, I often do this in the morning and night while on the toilet and it cracks the most. 2. Probably more common, it feels like I need to be decompressed. Like a pull from the legs and neck away from each other is needed. 3. Tightness right between the shoulder blade and spine, but it feels deep. This arises rarely, only at night in bed and can stop me from falling asleep. Edit after watching: Interesting, the only one of mine that was talked about was the third one, but it’s cool to see that me saying the tight felt “deep” may actually be true to reality, given you said the back muscles are behind the “back” muscles.
Dude , I don't want to feel your pain , , but I do want to strongly encourage you to find someone who understands physical therapy (maybe along with massage) who who will help you to properly practice stretching exercises , , , It's your muscles that are likely to be so little activated that they need to be re-stimulated by stretching them , , but you'll need help to get started , , It's truly worth paying for someone who knows how to help you get started than begin without assistance so that you don't hurt yourself by not performing the exercises correctly , , , Seriously hope best for you , , ,
I have a drop foot that started with a,"Bone on bone", emergency repair that didn't work so they "tryed", to repair "not so good", and still another bulging disc and now " Lowering of the spine...Degenerate disc disease!! The more and more i enjoy and am fascinated watching show's "Human body", people and the thing's they have gone threw i wish you well it's not fair/fun, promise you can do the best you can and be human because we are.... I've never been so happy to see a notification. I'm having excruciating pain in my lower back. An MRI scan showed herniated discs, leading to sciatica. I have rheumatoid arthritis, which doesn't help. Covid has delayed essential treatment. This video has been very useful. I feel more determined to find a solution.
Started getting lower back pain and upper back knots. I started doing full body stretches morning and night, focusing on leaning into hips, glutes, and of course the back. Essentially a modified version of the warm up and flexibility work out from "The Stuntwoman's Workout". It's taken a few months, but now that I'm stretched out and get relieving pops instead of knots I experience far less pain. Some Tiger Balm on bad days and more walking instead of sitting, and I count myself lucky.
Talk to a doctor before doing anything. I’m glad it seems to be helping you, but what you’re doing could sometimes be unrelated to solve a problem or could contribute towards it if you don’t have a medical diagnosis to further understand what is happening.

@@furonwarrior Not all of us are in a position to go to a doctor, be it financial, time or simply location. Besides, what's the absolute worst that could happen because I'm doing a junior high level warm up stretching routine and doing basic yoga poses? That's like saying, "Go to a doctor before you start walking or go on a hike." I understand what you're getting at, but for basic tension issues that any physician would ask if you're doing anyway? Not worth wasting everyone's time.

Very informative. I've dealt w/spinal issues since I was 24yr old. I ended up w/surgery in '08 when my L5 herniated disc had compressed the right side of my sciatic nerve completely flat! My neurosurgeon said that there was so much pressure on the sciatic nerve that it blew the piece of bone he had to pry out after sawing down, completely out of my back, he said it sounded like a champagne cork blowing off. The piece of bone hit the ceiling in the OR and bounced onto the floor. At the same time my sciatic nerve came flying up through that hole, that's how much pressure my disc had on it. I know the pain I was experiencing prior to surgery was unbearable & I literally wanted to blow my head off. Afterwards ALL that excruciating pain was gone, I cried because of being so thrilled to be pain free & thanked my surgeon profusely! Also in 2020 I had to go back in to have my L3, L4, done & my L5 redone.

I actually never have to worry about back pain, I had severe scoliosis as a child and had to get spinal fusion, since a lot of the nerves were severed in the process, most of my back is numb
@@qazweriopkoilj depends I can't really bend over very far (my hands barely go past my knees) and I can't twist very well, found that out when I tried to learn how to play golf

As someone who's been suffering from neck pain due to a slight loss of curvature this was informative. I would like if perhaps you do something like this for the neck as it seems a lot of people have issues with it nowadays, either with tension or vertebrae. Especially now, after covid where people worked from home in front of a computer without a proper setup.
@@mikerodgers7620 It can happen very early on especially with kids glued to tech 24/7 with horrible posture. It enforced their muscles to stay locked in that shortened position, doesn’t really matter your age. Comes down to how much your using/not using certain muscles and posture.
My back is a complete mess. I've got Tarlov Cyst Disease (a CSF filled sac around the nerves at S1-S2) arthritis and dessicated discs. I want my body to be used when I'm gone so students can see how pain from this affects the body. I know that living with chronic pain for years has caused hypertension, neuropathy and who knows what else. I'm almost afraid to watch this. 😅

just something I wanna share w the people here: my father recently went through a laser surgery for his back pain. so basically one or two of his spinal discs bulged posteriorly which caused problems w the nerve. he had suffered a lot from this injury but this new laser technology thing helped a lot and he didn't have to go through any critical surgery (involving cutting skin). and right now he's doing so much better Alhamdulillah. so I wanted to share this to let people know that have similar problems and don't wanna cut off their backs. so maybe they can consider this laser surgery as an option.

What exactly caused your injury? Let me guess - since you mentioned lower back, I assume the cause was deadlifting? Any advice for avoiding the pain you experienced?
@@herald246 From squatting using Smith machine. Unfortunately that was the only option I had for a while to do legs. Was lifting ~185 and had something move out of place in lower back. I'd suggest that if you don't have a back injury, then double check with a trainer how to correctly squat or deadlift before you injure anything. I'm only able to do leg press and hack squats now.

Another really informative video; great job! I noticed you didn’t mention bone spurs. I have some pretty severe osteoarthritis throughout my neck and back that has also resulted in the growth of several bone spurs. From what I’ve been told, those bone sours further aggravate the nerves and add to my chronic pain and stiffness. In the future, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on bone sours. Thank you.
A tight psoas major caused my back pain for 16 years which was resolved by targeted stretching of the affected area on a roman chair in the gym and resistance exercise of that muscle.

The anatomy of the spine is extremely complex as shown in this video. Like he describes, this is a couple potential causes of low back pain. It becomes really hard to actually narrow down back pain to a specific anatomical cause however. It’s around 20% of the time we are able to pin point specific anatomy to the source of peoples pain. This can be really frustrating for patients and providers alike. Psychogenic pain is probably the most difficult type of back pain to rehab from. These folks are usually chronic low back pain patients whose nervous system has inappropriately adapted to send pain signals to non threatening stimuli. The pain is real, but the tissue is not actually being damaged. Very hard to work through explaining this to patients and harder for the patient to work through understanding these psychological stressors or fear avoidance behaviors related to movement. Excellent video.
what is even worse: the patient cannot take some time off the work because of this psychogenic pain. if there's no confirmation of problems on his back, even if he is suffering a lot, he is considered "able to work normally". this is my case. i suffer from back pain for 5 years and no one discovered the reasons. i stoped working by myself, because everyone has said i could work because there's no problem on my back. but i AM suffering from pain 24/7!
As a physiotherapist I agree with you on that. NSLBP is very common and can be hard to treat and explain. Education and decatastrophising is most important
Took me years to realize training my weak/damaged muscles was the key to recovering the reoccurring pains that kept coming and going. The whole body is a system that needs to function together. If you let certain areas fall behind other muscles have to pickup the slack and problems occur from imbalances/overuse & underuse.
Wow. You presented more usable information in this video than my primary care physician has in over a year of pursuing the (wrong) explanations for why I have back/hip/leg pain and poor muscle response from shoulders to knees.
I will be 30 on Saturday. Been suffering with muscle spasms and back pain since I was 18. No major injuries, I just didn’t get the good draw of the cards when it came to a good spine. Multiple small bulges throughout my entire lower lumbar, bone spurs, and narrowing of my spinal canal causing neuropathy in my hands, legs, and feet. I have muscle spasms that hospitalize me because I cannot move. I wish this wasn’t my reality as I will probably be wheel chair bound when I am older however I will continue to push myself to stay active and healthy as long as possible with non invasive surgeries. Prayers to all suffering.
I've had radio ablation and it was about 80% effective on my overall pain, with my remaining back pain coming from muscle weakness (easily fixed with physio). But the last bit of pain came from hip bursitis. Bursitis is something I never really heard of before then; but it was likely caused by years of holding myself different from pain. I'd like to add I'm 37, my serious pain started when i was 30. I've had basically every type of back pain discussed, sometimes all at once. No idea if my bursitis will be recurring yet, as I just got it treated with steroids two weeks ago. BUT I would love to hear more about bursa around the body.
Ablation did nothing for me and last two steroid injections had severely bad reactions to. Friggin pain Dr would not prescribe low dose pain meds. WTF HES A PAIN DR.???
That's actually super interesting. Weirdly enough, I've had back pain for quite a while a few years back, until it shifted to neck pain - I don't really feel back pain at all anymore, but my neck... Just sharing, a lot of neck pain seems to come from shoulder tension. In my own experience, stress causes my upper shoulders to be tense and I have SO much pain in my neck. If you don't have any management system, bob and brad (physical therapists on youtube) have good videos for it! I do Y W T Ls ALL the time and it's helped so much!!!
@@secretlybees lol I watch bob and brad (the two most famous physio's on the internet lol - my exercise physiologist taught me to use a resistance band to teach my traps to stay down for migraines. Really cool stuff (keep the palms facing up, grab band at lower rips, shoulders back and down and stretch that bad). reduces headaches and tension.
@@cassiesutherland7763 you’re training your weak muscles to fire to keep your shoulders depressed. Majority of pain I see in clients is from weakness and other areas of the body that have to work twice as hard because the other muscle groups are turned off. Your body goes into defense body when muscles aren’t on/strong enough to perform their actions and locks up the muscle to provide some type of stability. Combination of massage/stretching/strengthening will do wonders for the vast majority of people. Once you understand how the body works it’s no different than a car and how you need to maintain it over time or you’ll suffer premature wear.

Had massive issues with my back for around 10 years now (I'm 47). Prolapsed disc which made my left leg go numb. At it's worst I was prescribed Fentanyl patches for the pain! That was a trippy couple of years lol. I'm going to check out Helix and see if it helps ❤
Today i went to the doctor to see my X-ray result to see what the hell was stuck in my esophagus all this time, and i ended up discovering i have scoliosis... i freaked out when i saw the weird shapped snake in my back, i asked the nurse what the hell was that and she told me it was my column, i wanted to crack my ass off out of sadness💀
I been dealing with my back pain for 18 year's now the whole time I was watching this video back was hurting just listening in watching the video on back pain.. Have you tried a physiotherapist or two? You might start with one who focuses on sports injuries, but I say that only from personal experience: start with a physio who deals with sports injuries.

I've got a very uncommon injury: a symptomatic thoracic disc herniation, it affects one person per million people. The pain it causes, both at the site and trough its effect on the abjacent nerve roots, is very severe, and sadly, due to its location, its really hard and risky to perform sugery on... 😞

I have spinal stenosis, scoliosis, & deteriorating arthritis in my lower spine. One or all of those is causing so much pain in the muscle to the right of the spine. I hurt so bad after making my bed. The bending over irritates it. I have to rush & sit down to relieve the pain. 😥
I herniated a lumbar disc for the first time last June, and have since herniated that same disc twice more, most recently in January. I have been waiting for this video since then and it did not disappoint! Definitely gonna give that Helix mattress a try!
I have backpain caused by ankylosing spondylitis. This was interesting to see especially about facet since that is involved. I would have loved to see more on the ligaments attached to spine.
I believe I have this too, I can't sleep very long before the excruciating spasms begin in the mid back area. I work so many hrs I never I have time to get looked at but after all research I've done I'm certain it's AS. @@MuscleBandit In addition to taking Humira (which by itself helps tremendously), I try not to sit for long periods uninterrupted. At my desk I will stand up and I try at least once an hour to walk around a bit. Even if just to the bathroom. Physical therapist and Dr stress activity helps. Literally the Humira helped the most though as far as sleep. Prior to.humira they had me on high dose aleve but that didn't help.
@@MuscleBandit also condition is not reversible. Per rheumatologist any damage is permanent. But activity and medication to reduce inflammation help prevent further damage and reduce pain/ stiffness
Love your videos! Reminds me of my college dissection days. My husband, who is still young, recently found out he has Degenerative Disc Disease. Your husband should also be checked for arthritis. Multiple MRIs the past 14 years show I have mild degenerative disc but spine is structurally pretty solid. But DDD hasn't been causing burning/stinging from spine to toes. A great physical therapist and myself figured out that arthritis is the prime suspect. It takes very little of the arthritis roughness to feel like a HUGE deal.
I am so grateful for this video. I am 44. Never had back problems. Played soccer for 20 years. One day after 8 months of no exercise after covid and working from my home kitchen table for 12 hr days I got back out there and played soccer, kicked someone really hard in the shin and my back has never been the same. I have chronic inflammation in my L1 lumbar. I can't sit in my office chair longer than 30 mins. I am a developer so I need to be able to sit. I'm working hard now to really figure out what is going on and get my healing. I've spent over 7k in back dr, physical therapy, chiropractor, steroid shots, acupuncture, massage, exercise. I do have herniated discs in my MRI but it's in L5 and csomething. My mom has a really bad back and my younger brother. The dr. said it was probably inherited. He said it didn't come from anything I did recently, he said it was in play for years and maybe being over 40 and not exercising for 8 months revelead the pain.

Deep tissue muscles would be great because I know of someone who constantly faces this pain every month and tries to ease it through physiotherapy and massages but it always keeps coming back so it would very nice to know more about this. Also thanks for taking up this request :)
You would think, with back pain being so debilitating, that more 'cures' would be a priority. Yet, so many people, myself included, are on disability, more importantly, very little quality of life.💔
I've had lower back pain for a long time and one night after having trouble sleeping because of my lower back I just forced myself upside down on the arm of the couch I lowered myself slowly while balancing on my lower back I heard a nice pop and after years of pain and chiropractors not helping and doctors telling me nothing is wrong I fixed my issue I feel amazing not only is my pain gone I have my flexibility back I'm beyond grateful.
I have a herniated disc and had to stop playing sports (which was hard) but learned to deal with it in different ways and my chiropractor helped tremendously. I absolutely love your videos and learn a lot. I’m a language teacher but health and taking care of my body is a must and you help me understand more on how to do that. This was great! I've had sciatica for a long time, got way worse when I was pregnant to the point I couldn't walk. Even now if I'm doing something that requires bending like cleaning my house, my lower back spasms it's awful, guess I can't clean 🤪 lol thanks for the video! Love all your videos!
@@nildadel9795 I tried acupuncture and it actually worked 95% for about a month. Then it quit working period. Like a light switch...on..(yay).....off...(rats!!) Very strange. Its worth a try and won't hurt you unlike surgeons screwing hardware into your other vertebrae plus a big incision.

I've been having back problems for over a decade and regularly see doctors, chiropractors, and pain management physicians. I learned more about my spine in this 20 min video than all of my doctor appointments combined. Great stuff.
Same here. I've had back pain and my doctor thinks its due to my commuting to work and sitting in my car for long periods of time. My doctor mentioned it could be due to age but never broke it down for me like this video has. I'm in the gym now trying to see if it will make a difference. But I love these videos.
Same here. Most of the doctors I saw had the go-to answer of "lose weight". I do need to lose weight, but when I have degenerative disc disease, losing weight is not necessarily going to help.

I hated Biology at school (least favourite subject), but if this guy had been the teacher, it would have likely been my favourite subject, as I would have actually been incredibly interested & understood everything because of how great he is talking about the subject matter in a way that is both interesting and easy to follow. After watching this and a few other back videos I decided to purchase a horizontal roman chair. They're about 120 on Amazon. I've had back pain so bad at work I could barely walk and people kept asking what's wrong. After just a week with the roman chair, absolutely no more back pain. NONE after dealing with it for a year. The first time I did it, I was spent at 6 reps, now I can do 25. From my research the problem is often from weak back muscles, in my case it's proven correct. Side note, I also do the roman chair backwards. That is lying face down with my head where the foot posts are and do leg raises.
That's my experience but it's something to consider if your doc can't find an actual cause of the back pain. By doc I don't mean a chiropractor.
I have scoliosis, sway back, a herniated disc in my lower back that's pinching nerves, and a tilted hip. The pain is constant and has greatly impacted what activites I am able to do. This video was super interesting and I'd love to see more about what contributes to back pain.

I feel for you Jamie, I have Scoliosis, spina bifida occulta, 3 bulged and 1 ruptured disk, I also have disk degeneration disease, I had to have a back operation in 2018 to free up compressed nerves so I know how you feel, it’s so hard having chronic back/leg pain, it makes me so grouchy, like a bear with a sore head 😢
I have many of your similar problems and found yoga, Tai Chi, or Chi Kung, stretches, exercises has helped me! Most times I can get around & have no pain unless I do something wrong.
I'm a 46 year old female who at 13 , was diagnosed with severe scoliosis. My curve was a 75 degree lumbar curve. I had surgery at 13 in SLC and had Herrington rods placed from T4-L4. I've recently been working with a PT who is specialized in the Schroth-Barcelona Method. It's super interesting on how breathing properly can help alleviate pain. It's all about elongation when it comes to scoliosis. Check it out sometime, if you haven't heard of it. I enjoyed your video!

This channel motivated me to finally stop procrastinating and get off my ass to register for whole body donation to a local medical school when I die. Yup in ‘21 I was letting my dog out n poof… bent over and couldn’t stand… hit the floor at the door n had to reach up n let my dog out…I was down, alone n could move… had to pull my rug over just to get the phone so I could call my sister… we’ll all said and done… yr later then operated on my L1, infused with a concrete form to lift the L2 n now here I am, still healing n doing better. Thanks for your input n good to know Amen 🙏!
As a 54 year old veteran who is about 100lbs overweight, I recently went back to the gym. About 3 years ago, I had been working out and had lost some weight but had a freak (non-workout related) accident where I shattered my kneecap and detached my patellar tendon. After some family tragedies, loss of employment and the pandemic, I am now back to trying to get back into shape and be healthy again. This time I decided to take a personalized diet plan from Next Level Diet, and even hire a personal trainer to make sure I don’t cause injuries to my 54 year old body with all my limitations from past accidents and age. My trainer and I are focusing on strength training to help with injury prevention and prevent osteoporosis (which runs in my family) and help with arthritis and balance. Right on time!…..Just tweaked my back 6 days ago. I’m middle aged, played sports from 8-18, factory work for 21yrs, total work history of almost 30yrs. I’ve had rehab, shots, back surgery etc;. Unless, new technology comes out (I’m afraid this will be a problematic way m for me the rest of my life…🥺). My knee is throbbing as I type. The pain has been coming and going. All I did was bend down to lift and move a game machine in my basement. Bad posture, a pop, and now I’ve been in pain every since…Will stretch and get on the treadmill when I get home….Good Luck everyone!…🙏🏾❤️❤️

You are correct and at 60 something my back is fairly good. However, arthritis will convince you your back is a wreck while its damaging nerves. Proceed cautiously with any invasive procedure as it could make it worse.

4.5 years ago I was rear-ended in my car, sitting at a light. Herniated my L5-S1 and several bulges as well. I was an otherwise healthy and active guy. I try not to complain, because I know plenty of people have it worse, but I flat out can’t convey how much this has legitimately ruined my life. My work has suffered (I had a good career and was climbing the ladder), my gf of 7 years broke up with me because I’m constantly depressed and can’t do anything physical or fun anymore, and am borderline addicted to pain meds. I spend my life at countless drs appts, therapy, chiropractors, acupuncture, etc etc etc. I’ve had 17 or so surgical center procedures on top of the fusion surgery. It’s insane to think how one lady not pressing her right foot 4 inches down can destroy someone’s quality of life in an instant
She didn't really love you. It's painful- but it's better she leave than only want you when you're perfect. That's not real love. Love is in sickness OR in health- not just "in health".
I promise, no matter what you're dealing with, you'll find one who will.

I wish I could say or do something to help with your physical conditions. I can't imagine what a struggle that must be. I know there's a way, legal or not, for you to regain your vitality. Please don't give up and please keep looking. I know you can get it all back. I can't say how, but I'm sure there's a combination of natural approaches that will give you your life back. Keep looking and keep trying. Don't give up. Don't forget about Cannabis, it's been know to work wonders before! Try to hang on. People out here are rooting for you.
Hope your back gets better sooner rather than later, and i also hope your ex gets the same issue so that she would get some insight.. i myself have been eating pregabalin and gabapentin for almost 3 years because of a motorcycle accident left half of my spine in a state of sciatica and L1/L3 herniated discs. These things are so painful that 2/3rds of the day i just want to jump off a roof... OFC not doing it, but its just that bad and i feel for everyone with even the slightest nerve/ disc issues. GET WELL SOON hopefully, although unlikely :/

I was following a PhD from Canada, unfortunately I forgot his name. I followed a lot of pain management Dr, chiro’s, PT’s and this channel.
I incorporated them all. But this PhD pain management and an athletic trainer wwere the best.
By the way, I have a son who is soon- to- be an athletic trainer ( and he is into nutritional approach too) and I met his professor and I learned a lot from that professor.
I just hope one day, I will be able to help those in pain. I have a very good health career foundation and experience so I do understand all your pain.

I had same experience. Herniated disk and bulged disk in 3 levels . I did pt and took medication. I was waiting for my steroid injection for my back but I for pregnant . Due to pain I quit my job cause I didn’t want to have miscarriage. I rested for 4 months . After 6 months having the baby I went back to doctor to continue with mg treatment because I had some little pain and doctor convinced me to have the steroid shot . I had it and after I felt like my legs was numb. And I had terrible mental side effects from it .I told the doctor and he said drink a lot of water then he send me a letter where he said that I was fine after injection and not side effects . Now he wants to do surgery .
I said NO because I don’t have pain onlg little tingling calf . I went to another doctor ( spine surgeon?) he told as long it doesn’t bother me I don’t need surgery .
Don’t let anyone to cut your back and give time to your body to heal . My took 2 years to heal might not be perfect heal but I can finally sleep on my back w

As someone with a herniated L5 and L4, that deals with sciatica in both legs. I can testify how awful it can be. Especially when you re-injure it. It's been 5 years and I'm not the same. Disc and back muscle pain, barely being able to move or twist. Not being able to lift things. It affects way more than you think it does.

Same happened to me more then a year ago. I watched a movie about a paraplegic lady and i was at a point where i was thinking to myself "that lady is lucky not to feel her legs". 3 months of nothing but extreme pain with just 2 hours of sleep. Every movement would hurt. Its hell on Earth. I was at point where i was thinking amputation is better then this... I re injured it 6 months ago i got into a deep depression... Hopefully a discectomy will be the solution...

As someone with spina bifida who deals with multiple pains at once due to that, such as trouble with walking, massive pain around the end of the back (which affects the leg as well) and maaany other bone/nerve issues in result of it, I'd like to see you talk about the different kinds of spina bifida and explain the consequences/symptoms of it. I have the "mildest" type and it's already horrifying, my mom's case is a very peculiar one because she pretty much has some missing bones (her spine didn't accompany her growth).

I have a lot going on in my back as well, no idea where it starts or where it ends, but various pains all from uper rib cage downd to the hip, and then streaching out in the legs, mainly lower part of the legs and feet.
Good days, i feal a tiny itchy kinda of pain, buy verry mild, less than 1, so i dont relay care, normaly days pain is in diferent part of the back scaled from 3-5, less movement - less pain.
Bad days i rather dont move at all, as it instantly send intensive pain out, 7-8, spikes at 9, realy bad days ... well you see where its going.
MRI didnt reveal anything, that could say it was becouse of this or that, latest doctor refear me to do some Yoga and recomended me to try akupunkture, as i am right now, 2 treatments so far, but no idea where this will lead. Im happy for all those days when im at 2 or less in pain

I’m 60 yrs old and had been weak and sick for a while, I also have asthma which is why I thought I was just having a an asthma attack. My partner rang the ambulance and I’m so glad he did!
This is really helpful information so thank you! Heart attacks are very common in my family but they typically have only happened to men because I’m the first girl in quite some time and I’ve heard the symptoms can be very different for women. I have a much healthier diet and weight than the men in my family who’ve suffered heart attacks but yet I still have high cholesterol in my early 20’s, so healthy eating and weight don’t seem to matter much if your genetics are terrible. It’s always a concern of mine that I won’t even realizing I’m having a heart attack until it’s too late.
I used to have strong sciatic pain before 2010, in 2010 I fell 3 meters and landed on my bum. Broke my back in 2 places L4 and L3, broke my Kocsis and my right hand. I was fitted with a back brace that at the top went under and over my arm pits, 4 x 12mm s/steel posts connected to the top brace, 2 front and 2 rear, they were attached to a hip brace. My back was held bolt up straight with this brace for 10 weeks. The brace also held upright tension stretching my back and I believe this helped to repair my L5 bulging disc as the scan show my back even in 2023 has no bulging discs. Each day I exersise with moderate weights 25Kg (20 lifts), 40-50 pushups and 5 kilometer walks. I'm now 61 and feel stonger and better that in my 40's.

Love these videos! One of the things they didn't cover this time, is vitamin deficiency. I had severe back pain for 7+ years. I saw a few doctors in that time. The last was an Ortho. They said I had a degenerated disk that was causing my pain. They said they could offer a couple of PT sessions. If it got worse we could talk pain meds and if that wasn't enough we could talk surgery. I was 37 and they made it sound like something I was going to have to live with for the rest of my life. I had a physical few months later, they told me my vitamin D was extremely low. I started taking D, with no expectations of the changes it might bring. Within 3 months my back pain was gone! What I learned after that was that we're degenerating from our late teen-early 20s, you just wouldn't know it unless you had an x-ray. I'm not saying to start taking vitamin D. I'm saying to get some basic blood work done. I wish someone had said that to me in the early days of my pain. The years of pain I could have avoided ( angrily shakes first). I've been taking D for 3+ years( getting my levels checked periodically), I am still pain free.

My explanation of my back pains before watching the video:
1. It feels like my lower back is “too curved” and I need to bend forward (touch your toes direction) in order to relieve the stress, I often do this in the morning and night while on the toilet and it cracks the most.
2. Probably more common, it feels like I need to be decompressed. Like a pull from the legs and neck away from each other is needed.
3. Tightness right between the shoulder blade and spine, but it feels deep. This arises rarely, only at night in bed and can stop me from falling asleep.

Interesting, the only one of mine that was talked about was the third one, but it’s cool to see that me saying the tight felt “deep” may actually be true to reality, given you said the back muscles are behind the “back” muscles.

I have a drop foot that started with a,"Bone on bone", emergency repair that didn't work so they "tryed", to repair "not so good", and still another bulging disc and now " Lowering of the spine...Degenerate disc disease!! I've never been so happy to see a notification. I'm having excruciating pain in my lower back. An MRI scan showed herniated discs, leading to sciatica. I have rheumatoid arthritis, which doesn't help. Covid has delayed essential treatment. This video has been very useful. I feel more determined to find a solution.

Started getting lower back pain and upper back knots. I started doing full body stretches morning and night, focusing on leaning into hips, glutes, and of course the back. Essentially a modified version of the warm up and flexibility work out from "The Stuntwoman's Workout". It's taken a few months, but now that I'm stretched out and get relieving pops instead of knots I experience far less pain. Some Tiger Balm on bad days and more walking instead of sitting, and I count myself lucky.

Talk to a doctor before doing anything. I’m glad it seems to be helping you, but what you’re doing could sometimes be unrelated to solve a problem or could contribute towards it if you don’t have a medical diagnosis to further understand what is happening.

Besides, what's the absolute worst that could happen because I'm doing a junior high level warm up stretching routine and doing basic yoga poses? That's like saying, "Go to a doctor before you start walking or go on a hike." I understand what you're getting at, but for basic tension issues that any physician would ask if you're doing anyway? Not worth wasting everyone's time.

Very informative. I've dealt w/spinal issues since I was 24yr old. I ended up w/surgery in '08 when my L5 herniated disc had compressed the right side of my sciatic nerve completely flat! My neurosurgeon said that there was so much pressure on the sciatic nerve that it blew the piece of bone he had to pry out after sawing down, completely out of my back, he said it sounded like a champagne cork blowing off. The piece of bone hit the ceiling in the OR and bounced onto the floor. At the same time my sciatic nerve came flying up through that hole, that's how much pressure my disc had on it. I know the pain I was experiencing prior to surgery was unbearable & I literally wanted to blow my head off. Afterwards ALL that excruciating pain was gone, I cried because of being so thrilled to be pain free & thanked my surgeon profusely! Also in 2020 I had to go back in to have my L3, L4, done & my L5 redone.

I actually never have to worry about back pain, I had severe scoliosis as a child and had to get spinal fusion, since a lot of the nerves were severed in the process, most of my back is numb

As someone who's been suffering from neck pain due to a slight loss of curvature this was informative. I would like if perhaps you do something like this for the neck as it seems a lot of people have issues with it nowadays, either with tension or vertebrae. My back is a complete mess. I've got Tarlov Cyst Disease (a CSF filled sac around the nerves at S1-S2) arthritis and dessicated discs. I want my body to be used when I'm gone so students can see how pain from this affects the body. I know that living with chronic pain for years has caused hypertension, neuropathy and who knows what else.

just something I wanna share w the people here: my father recently went through a laser surgery for his back pain. so basically one or two of his spinal discs bulged posteriorly which caused problems w the nerve. he had suffered a lot from this injury but this new laser technology thing helped a lot and he didn't have to go through any critical surgery (involving cutting skin). and right now he's doing so much better Alhamdulillah. so I wanted to share this to let people know that have similar problems and don't wanna cut off their backs. so maybe they can consider this laser surgery as an option.

@@herald246 From squatting using Smith machine. Unfortunately that was the only option I had for a while to do legs. Was lifting ~185 and had something move out of place in lower back.
I'd suggest that if you don't have a back injury, then double check with a trainer how to correctly squat or deadlift before you injure anything. I'm only able to do leg press and hack squats now.

I have some pretty severe osteoarthritis throughout my neck and back that has also resulted in the growth of several bone spurs. From what I’ve been told, those bone sours further aggravate the nerves and add to my chronic pain and stiffness. In the future, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on bone sours. Thank you.

A tight psoas major caused my back pain for 16 years which was resolved by targeted stretching of the affected area on a roman chair in the gym and resistance exercise of that muscle.

The anatomy of the spine is extremely complex as shown in this video. Like he describes, this is a couple potential causes of low back pain. It becomes really hard to actually narrow down back pain to a specific anatomical cause however. It’s around 20% of the time we are able to pin point specific anatomy to the source of peoples pain. This can be really frustrating for patients and providers alike. Psychogenic pain is probably the most difficult type of back pain to rehab from. These folks are usually chronic low back pain patients whose nervous system has inappropriately adapted to send pain signals to non threatening stimuli. The pain is real, but the tissue is not actually being damaged. Very hard to work through explaining this to patients and harder for the patient to work through understanding these psychological stressors or fear avoidance behaviors related to movement. Excellent video.
what is even worse: the patient cannot take some time off the work because of this psychogenic pain. if there's no confirmation of problems on his back, even if he is suffering a lot, he is considered "able to work normally". this is my case. i suffer from back pain for 5 years and no one discovered the reasons. i stoped working by myself, because everyone has said i could work because there's no problem on my back. but i AM suffering from pain 24/7!

As a physiotherapist I agree with you on that. NSLBP is very common and can be hard to treat and explain. Education and decatastrophising is most important
Took me years to realize training my weak/damaged muscles was the key to recovering the reoccurring pains that kept coming and going.
The whole body is a system that needs to function together. If you let certain areas fall behind other muscles have to pickup the slack and problems occur from imbalances/overuse & underuse.

Wow. You presented more usable information in this video than my primary care physician has in over a year of pursuing the (wrong) explanations for why I have back/hip/leg pain and poor muscle response from shoulders to knees.
I will be 30 on Saturday. Been suffering with muscle spasms and back pain since I was 18. No major injuries, I just didn’t get the good draw of the cards when it came to a good spine. Multiple small bulges throughout my entire lower lumbar, bone spurs, and narrowing of my spinal canal causing neuropathy in my hands, legs, and feet. I have muscle spasms that hospitalize me because I cannot move. I wish this wasn’t my reality as I will probably be wheel chair bound when I am older however I will continue to push myself to stay active and healthy as long as possible with non invasive surgeries. Prayers to all suffering.
I've had radio ablation and it was about 80% effective on my overall pain, with my remaining back pain coming from muscle weakness (easily fixed with physio). But the last bit of pain came from hip bursitis. Bursitis is something I never really heard of before then; but it was likely caused by years of holding myself different from pain. I'd like to add I'm 37, my serious pain started when i was 30. I've had basically every type of back pain discussed, sometimes all at once. No idea if my bursitis will be recurring yet, as I just got it treated with steroids two weeks ago. BUT I would love to hear more about bursa around the body.

Ablation did nothing for me and last two steroid injections had severely bad reactions to. Friggin pain Dr would not prescribe low dose pain meds. WTF HES A PAIN DR.???

Just sharing, a lot of neck pain seems to come from shoulder tension. In my own experience, stress causes my upper shoulders to be tense and I have SO much pain in my neck. If you don't have any management system, bob and brad (physical therapists on youtube) have good videos for it! I do Y W T Ls ALL the time and it's helped so much!!!

@@secretlybees lol I watch bob and brad (the two most famous physio's on the internet lol - my exercise physiologist taught me to use a resistance band to teach my traps to stay down for migraines. Really cool stuff (keep the palms facing up, grab band at lower rips, shoulders back and down and stretch that bad). reduces headaches and tension.

@@cassiesutherland7763 you’re training your weak muscles to fire to keep your shoulders depressed. Majority of pain I see in clients is from weakness and other areas of the body that have to work twice as hard because the other muscle groups are turned off.
Your body goes into defense body when muscles aren’t on/strong enough to perform their actions and locks up the muscle to provide some type of stability. Combination of massage/stretching/strengthening will do wonders for the vast majority of people. Once you understand how the body works it’s no different than a car and how you need to maintain it over time or you’ll suffer premature wear.

Had massive issues with my back for around 10 years now (I'm 47). Prolapsed disc which made my left leg go numb. At it's worst I was prescribed Fentanyl patches for the pain! That was a trippy couple of years lol. I'm going to check out Helix and see if it helps ❤

Have you tried a physiotherapist or two? You might start with one who focuses on sports injuries, but I say that only from personal experience: start with a physio who deals with sports injuries.

I’m 32 and much curious to know about my future with scoliosis and associated multiple disk bulge. I've got a very uncommon injury: a symptomatic thoracic disc herniation, it affects one person per million people. The pain it causes, both at the site and trough its effect on the abjacent nerve roots, is very severe, and sadly, due to its location, its really hard and risky to perform sugery on... 😞
Fascinating video, I suffer from regular back pain due to various curves in my spine. I would love to hear more about pain that could be caused by SBO, Lordosis, Kyphosis or Spondylolisis (can't spell that one!).

I have spinal stenosis, scoliosis, & deteriorating arthritis in my lower spine. One or all of those is causing so much pain in the muscle to the right of the spine. I hurt so bad after making my bed. The bending over irritates it. I have to rush & sit down to relieve the pain. 😥
A sister in the same pain. Only relief is cannabis it at least let's me function. Have you asked your doctor about it.

I herniated a lumbar disc for the first time last June, and have since herniated that same disc twice more, most recently in January. I have been waiting for this video since then and it did not disappoint! Definitely gonna give that Helix mattress a try!
Did you go to a physiotherapist after?
I have back issues and swear by the original purple mattresses. We have 3 of them.
I have backpain caused by ankylosing spondylitis. This was interesting to see especially about facet since that is involved. I would have loved to see more on the ligaments attached to spine.
I believe I have this too, I can't sleep very long before the excruciating spasms begin in the mid back area. I work so many hrs I never I have time to get looked at but after all research I've done I'm certain it's AS.

@@MuscleBandit In addition to taking Humira (which by itself helps tremendously), I try not to sit for long periods uninterrupted. At my desk I will stand up and I try at least once an hour to walk around a bit. Even if just to the bathroom.
Physical therapist and Dr stress activity helps.
Literally the Humira helped the most though as far as sleep. Prior to.humira they had me on high dose aleve but that didn't help.
@@MuscleBandit also condition is not reversible. Per rheumatologist any damage is permanent. But activity and medication to reduce inflammation help prevent further damage and reduce pain/ stiffness

My husband, who is still young, recently found out he has Degenerative Disc Disease. He has dealt with a right arm/hand birth defect but his back pain didn't start until his late teens/early 20's.

Your husband should also be checked for arthritis. Multiple MRIs the past 14 years show I have mild degenerative disc but spine is structurally pretty solid. But DDD hasn't been causing burning/stinging from spine to toes. A great physical therapist and myself figured out that arthritis is the prime suspect. It takes very little of the arthritis roughness to feel like a HUGE deal.
I am so grateful for this video. I am 44. Never had back problems. Played soccer for 20 years. One day after 8 months of no exercise after covid and working from my home kitchen table for 12 hr days I got back out there and played soccer, kicked someone really hard in the shin and my back has never been the same. I have chronic inflammation in my L1 lumbar. I can't sit in my office chair longer than 30 mins. I am a developer so I need to be able to sit. I'm working hard now to really figure out what is going on and get my healing. I've spent over 7k in back dr, physical therapy, chiropractor, steroid shots, acupuncture, massage, exercise. I do have herniated discs in my MRI but it's in L5 and csomething.
My mom has a really bad back and my younger brother. The dr. said it was probably inherited. He said it didn't come from anything I did recently, he said it was in play for years and maybe being over 40 and not exercising for 8 months revelead the pain.
This presentation gave a deeper insight on what constitutes a back pain…and now i’ve learned more…

Deep tissue muscles would be great because I know of someone who constantly faces this pain every month and tries to ease it through physiotherapy and massages but it always keeps coming back so it would very nice to know more about this. Also thanks for taking up this request :)

You would think, with back pain being so debilitating, that more 'cures' would be a priority. Yet, so many people, myself included, are on disability, more importantly, very little quality of life.💔
I've had lower back pain for a long time and one night after having trouble sleeping because of my lower back I just forced myself upside down on the arm of the couch I lowered myself slowly while balancing on my lower back I heard a nice pop and after years of pain and chiropractors not helping and doctors telling me nothing is wrong I fixed my issue I feel amazing not only is my pain gone I have my flexibility back I'm beyond grateful.

Working from home during the covid lockdown introduced me to back pain. So it was sort of enlightening to learn about the spine from today's video.

I have a herniated disc and had to stop playing sports (which was hard) but learned to deal with it in different ways and my chiropractor helped tremendously. I absolutely love your videos and learn a lot. I’m a language teacher but health and taking care of my body is a must and you help me understand more on how to do that. This was great! I've had sciatica for a long time, got way worse when I was pregnant to the point I couldn't walk. Even now if I'm doing something that requires bending like cleaning my house, my lower back spasms it's awful, guess I can't clean 🤪 lol thanks for the video! Love all your videos!

@@nildadel9795 I tried acupuncture and it actually worked 95% for about a month. Then it quit working period. Like a light switch...on..(yay).....off...(rats!!) Very strange. Its worth a try and won't hurt you unlike surgeons screwing hardware into your other vertebrae plus a big incision.

Thank you for making this video. I had caudia equine sydrome in 2019. My back hurts every day now. I had decompression surgery on L5 then and then now i'm waiting for further surgery on L4. My mobility has been affected, too and will be for the rest of my life.
