      @@Dynamicdiscdesigns haha… I only said it that way because he has certain catchphrases and the way he credits your excellent company whenever he uses one of your models is one of them (also I had never heard the word “biofidelic” until he said it lol)

    I would love to know how to treat upper back pain. I have an l4-l5 fusion and for the most part I don't have pain down there anymore (only when sleeping wrong or when it's cold) but because I can't arch my low back to stand up straight it's causing issues with my posture and pretty bad pain in my thoracic spine between my shoulders.

    Huberman's a neurologist and thought the spinal cord ran through the disc? Okay then... In any case, I was assessed in March for my lower back pain from a McGill therapist. There is no magic dust with the McGill method. 6 months of serious discipline following the program. I'm improving after 2.5 years of various modalities, but I say at this rate, I feel I have another year before I get up in the morning with no pain and can return to my normal life so long as I put in the time. For two years I was chasing a solution but I have to say the McGill method is the only one where there is a scientific approach where there's a proper program where you can accelerate based on symptoms. So long as you get assessed because the origin of one's lower back pain differs from person to person and only the assessment can isolate the root cause.

    I get exactly the sort of pain he explains at 11:00 when lean back and drop one shoulder back, but what should I do about it then?
    I have no pain in forward bending.

    • @stanthompson3379
      @stanthompson3379 3 місяці тому

      Avoid over extending. My takeaway from McGills work is to try and maintain lower lumbar stability and get range of motion from hips, shoulders, thoracic spine, not lumbar spine. What you want to avoid is further exacerbating the facet joints so the bone doesn’t spur and there’s the arthritis he described where there’s less space for nerve roots.

    It's old theory that extruded part of nucleus pulposus is going to go back inside of the disc. The pressure inside of the disc does not allow that to happen. What can happen is that extruded part of nucleus can get reapsorbed by body following inflamatory response. Discs heal slowly because of lack of blood supply but outer layer of anulus fibrosus has some ability to repair by scar tissue. And discs exchange matter by moving because they are like sponge so when squizzed they release liquid and then absorb it back inside exchanging nutrients. In that way healing of discs can happen, and not by always being stiff and not moving at all. Pain is guiding your movement, and over time when extruded part gets smaller your back nerves become less sensitive and you are pain free

    Hello! I'm a Surgical Technologist who specialized in spine surgery for 7 years before moving on to orthopedic/total joints. I also have a low back injury from work that rears it's ugly head every couple years. Pain down the back of the leg, then wraps around front to the top of my foot. I'm 36, ex polevaulter, dancer, volleyball player, but still run (short fast, endurance running not my thing) stay active, work out and doing PT helps. When asked what makes my back feel better I say "not working". People laugh, but I'm totally serious! Outside work I feel great and can do almost anything. At work, (very stressful job) I get flair ups and don't feel my best. Is there something mental going on that I can work on?

    I refurbish paver patios, driveways and retaining walls. I got a bulging L5, S1 and the big 3 combined with going to my chiropractor and a steroid pack seems to be working great. Walking a lot too so I don't get stiff...I don't like taking any pills and so far just ibuprofen a couple times. Also previously was following a powerlifting style plan then crashed a motorcycle and broke my femur, humerus, radius and ulna bones which physical therapy and my chiropractor along with creating a pain-loving beast mindset to tap into really makes me think without greed, very few people would be on all these pain pills.
