Jim is insane and wrote most of the riffs to this album in his garage
Gray chapter is a slow burner.....first listen it's like "meh" then a proper listen or 6 is like "whoa"
Right on, when I first listened to it I had a hard time getting into the songs apart from "The Devil in I" and "Killpop" - which are the more accessible ones I guess- but at a certain point I became addicted to this album. "Sarcastrophe"; "AOV", "Lech", "Normadic", "Custer", "The Burden", "The Negative One"; "If Rain is what you want" then became my go-to Slipknot-songs. Such a great album. I feel like dealing with Paul´s death and all the accomponying emotions gives this one a unifying feeling and theme, it feels like one of piece to me.
I sorta disagree, I loved it from the moment it came out until now. Well, not UNTIL now, but ya know. Of course it wavers sometimes but its still pretty solid at its worst. For me at least.
It’s definitely an album that has to grow for the most part. Still a damn good album overall though
I must say I was disappointed with the album. I am not sure why, it just does not elicit any emotional response for me like Self-Titled and Iowa. I think their hate of the world and themselves shone through on the early albums. It created a great sound.
It's their best fucking album, imo.
Corey is so on point. The vocals in the chorus is so clean. Gets me every time. There is beauty here amidst the brutality of his vocal style. Solid.
Heritic anthem is a must ...
Agreed
Every maggot out there would be!
Heretic just a heads up on spelling
Yes do this
They already did
Oh so glad you did this track! It was the one that stood out to me most on the last album. When that second verse kicks in, the guitars are just great. The chorus at the end, Love it 🤘enjoy that show! I saw them on their first uk tour in 1999 when they were relatively unknown. Glad to have been a part of that time.
The ending breakdown was what did it for me
Damn I wasn't even alive back then but I wish I was
I remember back in 2015 when they came to Argentina on the tour for .5 The Gray Chapter... This song was so amazing, I remember crying during the middle section, it was so beautiful. Slipknot is really weird, I mean their live videos sound kinda ok, but the quality when you're at the crowd... My god, never heard anything like that, every riff, every beat of those drums, everything was so powerful it could get you down to the ground. And I'm not exagerating hahaha.
Anyway, one of my fav Gray Chapter songs, I think it's the song I played the most on the guitar, the riff on the pre-chorus it's amazing, my pants go down everytime I hear it hahaha.
Anywho, react to Iowa from iowa (duh) and Gently, again from Iowa. (Try the live from the Disasterpieces dvd for gently, they put amazing visuals too).
Lova ya, like allways!
Damn.
@@Louisee77 It's an unique experience
Fuck I need to go to one of those
I’ve seen them live and it was hands down the best show I’ve ever seen in my entire life like the stage presence not only Corey but the rest of the band has as a group. They make it like a family at every show and I loved every single second of it. Also side note, the new drummer jay Weinberg is the son of max Weinberg who was Bruce Springsteen’s drummer.
This one and Custer are the best one of Gray' Chapter. Really hyper for the new record, I can't wait to hear more of Jay, he's a completely beast !
The Negative One tho!
Vin and sori much respect to what u guys do I watched quite a few of ur videos on here n I love u guys r living proof of people who appreciate the value of metal music thank u for what u do
Slipknot - The Nameless!!
No Opeth - Demon Of The Fall this time?
Beatriz Rosewood Demon of the Fall ALWAYS. There are also certain songs from other bands I think they should check out, I only suggest them when they upload songs from that band.
@Legion of the Damned yeah, I'd feel dirty doing that lol
Always I enjoy watching you guys!
Awesome, guys. Been around since the first slipknot/A7X reactions and still loving the content to this day. I got my tix to the PNC N.J. Slipknot show, 6th row! Will be my 5th time seeing them live. Best live show out there. Glad to see you two are going to experience it together, keep it up!
For another more comical and personal view on Corey Taylor... check out his live acoustic set in London and he covers the spongebob theme song!
I just love your faces reading these lyrics, so into it.
delighted to hear you do my favurite Slipknot song respect :)
Joey didn't leave. He got Transverse myelitis disease back in 2012-2013 and got kicked.
Congratulations on the pregnancy guys! I just pop in once in a while just to watch reactions. Dont really follow much, but with that said, Congrats Vin and Sori!!!
You can see Sori's face light up as the heavy breakdown comes at the end :)
Great video! Same as you man, Slipknot was the band that influenced me to play guitar, about 5 years ago when i was 16
Just got tickets to see them for the Knotfest Roadshow too! I am beyond excited to go to the show. May your kid be blessed by the metal gods for as long as there is metal music!
Still waiting for Gematria, but amazing reaction by you guys. Can't wait for the new album 🤘
I've been listening to slipknot since the start. This album is so amazing. AOV might be my favorite song. So fucking dope. It's always a shame when something great has to be in direct reaction to something terrible like losing a brother.
Need more vol. 3. you guys loved the blister exists and there is plenty more great stuff from those albums you havent heard yet
Three Nill is my favorite...it's sooooo good
agree, I'm sure they get to more songs, they love Slipknot
Need more Reactions from Volume 3, easily one of their best records
One thing i love about this channel is yall dont just talk about thr song. You go into the philosophy and psychology of the song and how its applicable to yourselves and others. THATS what helps people about your channel
IN FLAMES - I AM ABOVE
No waaaay. You guys are gonna enjoy Slipknot live. Please don't forget to record for us! It will definitely be something to remember. Planning on seeing them in September!
Gonna see them in July. Real excited
What an amazing song
WHAT!!!!! Have fun seeing Slipknot guys! Seen the 3 years ago
TE AMO SORI... 😍😍😍❤❤
Hello Sori and Vin,
PANTERA: THROES OF REJECTION
Much love ❤
The Heretic Anthem next please!
wow this was good, I was impressed by that intro. Very cool
also, this song reminds me a bit of Death Metal
DUDE! VIN! HEAD was my idol when I was 13, and caused me to beg for a guitar for Christmas from my parents. I also grew my hair out so I could try and braid it like his was back in the day lol
What's crackin y'all? Once again another great reaction as per usual. If I could request a song please, I would like to suggest a band called Oceans of slumber and the song "winter". Smooth female lead vocals mixed with heavy growls. One of my new favorites. Thanks for your time.
about time
I'm not sure if you guys have done "Custer" yet. If not, you'd love it.
There is a live version that is very good as well. I'd link it, but I'm lazy. Love you guys!!!!!
I was driving home tonight listening to this song thinking you should react to this song, then got home and here it was
Have fun at the slipknot concert
It’s about time someone did AOV, best song ever!!!
Not a reaction watcher, but you guys are great and every Slipknot vid has been great. I get most people get upset at songs like before I forget and others, but it fills in the message on that particular album. AOV is literal aggression towards the bs that goes on in life and could be directed towards to a certain somebody but most likely people in general. I'm a boss in my career so this song fits me to a T and I understand it but in many different ways. This is why Slipknkt are the goats. Literally and figuratively imo. Good work guys cool ass channel
Seen there first tour in oz . seen the 3 times. metallica 3 times .and can't wait for the stadium tour metallica heading show with slipknot support October 29 2019 Brisbane ,Australia. For
the 4th time together.
You guys should do Goodbye next
Wyatt's Metal Life I second this motion.
You gotta do Custer for your next Slipknot song
Hi Vin and Sori i love your videos. I've been watching them for a few months. You guys should react to The Beginning of the End by Kane Roberts, it features Alice Copper and Alissa White Gluz. Its a great song and i feel that you guys might like it. It was also made like 3 to 4 weeks ago. Keep up the great reactions.
p.s. Jay Weinberg is a TOTAL badass drummer AND the son of Max who drums in The E-Street Band for The Boss
This is one of my favourite Slipknot songs.
FINALLY!
I’ve been waiting for you guys to do this song, it really is the best on that record Hope you guys enjoy that Slipknot show. I myself got VIP tix for the 2nd show on the tour, it is going to be fucking epic. Kinda bummed that it appears Behemoth will be the openers, I think they should be in direct support of Slipknot but that’s just me being greedy. Take care and good luck with the little one on the way.
Sori i hope you're feeling ok with that cough. Check out the song Rich Man on the Roadrunner United All Star Sessions. It was all the best artists on RR records at the time. Coreys voice on that song will give you chills.
I'd never heard this one. It's deep. And layered with a ton of different elements
big fann
i may be mistaking but in the song Drug by fallin in reverse corey screams a part and i think he does a high there and its sick af check it out guys!!!!
This is the song that is lyrical about Joey. Read carefully and think about it! "I Don't Want to watch another brother fucking die!"
I love, if rain is what you want by them(slipknot)
You should react to "if rain is what you want" next, it's a pretty underrated song on this album
From the cradle to enslave - Cradle of filth official video any person thats remotely into metal must experience this
Probably not lol
One of the characters in a story I wrote was named "Orion", and subsequently, our second child's middle name was Orion. So, I got a little giddy hearing that you guys named your kid "Orion" as well. 😈🤘❤
Jinjer- Who is gunna be the one Live please!!!
~If rain is what you want~
Woohoo! I got VIP for Slipknot too! Aug 9, 10, 11 Rob Zombie/Marilyn Manson (Fort Wayne,IN) ..Slipknot/Volbeat/Gojira(Detroit, MI)...Queen (Columbus, OH) busy 3 days in a row for the wife and I
The solo was VMan (Bass)
Volbeat is gonna Be There and I've been wanting you to react to them. Please do 7 shots 🙏🙏🙏
7 shots is amazing!
16 dollars
Gojiraaaaaaaa - Of blood and salt
That show also has Volbeat. Don't forget about them haha. if you don't mind me asking, which show are you guys going to? I would love to meet you guys in person at some point 😂
Pretty good song. His voice and the transitions made the song
Got my Knotfest tix as well. See ya there.
I'm gonna buy some knotfest tickets for Arizona! Y'all better Mosh with me!
Jim Root wrote this whole album by himself man, he's a really talented dude
no fucking way lol.
Serious??!
@@VinAndSori Seriously! Corey wrote two songs and the lyrics and Jim wrote all the rest of the songs. Usualy the whole band gets credit on all of the songs but on The Grey Chapter only Jim and Corey were credited
You guys haven’t done In This Moment in a while. Do “Rib Cage” next 😩
You guys are naming your baby Orion? That's badass
Which date of the tour are you guys going to??? I’m going to the woodlands show in Houston. September 8
While She Sleeps - Set You Free
Architects // Gone With The Wind
FYI - Corey CAN hit those high notes. With a vocal range of 6,1 octaves he's got the second greatest vocal range (C1 - C#7) in popular music today. His inspiration for NOT commiting suicide has the same range, Mike Patton.
Speaking of relationships in Slipknot, Jim Root used to be in Stone Sour. On one of their tours, they kept adding shows to the tour but Jim wanted to start writing songs for the Gray album. Corey "fired" Jim essentially kicking him out of the band. They hired a new guitarist and continued with the Stone Sour tour. Jim was pissed at first but later appreciated having time to write songs for Slipknot. I can imagine that Jim and Corey are not the best of friends at this point and time yet still do some amazing work together in Slipknot. :)
Jim is fine...so is Corey. Jim did not like spreading himself so thin. Also believed that SS was going in too much of a radio friendly direction.
You guys should definately react to Rotting Christ-kata ton daimona euatoy.Really amazing guys,I feel like you guys will love reacting to them,Greek black metal band (this particular song contains some greek lyrics, the rest are english) :)
7:02 She's like fuck yeah
I think Sori you will especially love this: It’s time you reviewed a second QUEENSRYCHE song. Vin loved ‘Eyes Of A Stranger’ last year. I recommend ‘Silent Lucidity’ their biggest hit. It went Top 10 in 91 and was nominated for Grammys and AMAs and nominated for 5 MTV Video awards, winning one, beating R.E.M.s Losing My Religion in the Viewers Choice category. It is a beautifully lush ballad with strings by Michael Kamen of Metallica fame as well as many film scores. You will love it so much I think. Video is great too. Please use the studio version or official video version. No good quality live clips. Trust me. Sooo good.
Slient Lucidity is a great ballad. I'd recommend the song 'Empire' as well, because of the lyric content.
Great reaction! Please react to more songs of the. 5 the Gray chapter... Skeptic is a good one.
Portal - Curtain
Going to knotfest in NY🤘
I think this song is about the band trying to find common ground to stand on, looking at themselves as you can’t move on without dealing with all their issues
Greetings guys... excellent job you've been doing all along the way.
I want you to react to a song that I totally love musicly and lyricly... whenever you have the chance:
"Nuclear Blast 20 years - Dysfunctional Hours"
It's not a band it is a recording label celebrating it's 20 years of existence, and they unite players and singers from all the bands signed contract with them...
Anders Friden from In Flames wrote and sung in this song.
I hope you like it and make the react, thanks for all the great effort... God bless you!!! 😊👍
Love this song and love this album. Would original violence be like Kane and Able? Brother killing Brother?
Spilling blood across the land?
Killing for religion?
These guys are supporting Metallica in Australia in October. I can't believe we are getting a bill so epic in this country. 2 of the biggest bands in the world, together on the same stadium tour! It will be epic
Indeed
Nobody notices how fast corey can rap in this song
According to Corey none of the songs in .5 the gray chapter are about Joey, both parties claim that they still love each other (however how the band fired Joey was very shitty) and Joey was let go due to an ailment he gotten that prevented him from moving his legs, let alone play drums. Joey has gotten better but the band let him go and the song is actually about the 4 years between Paul's death and when the band started working on music again. The song is about how things come up, tensions build and eventually things work out. .5 has a lot of interesting topics in it's lyrics that I think are really cool. Love this video!
You can't have Slipknot without Joey Jordison. The way that dude drums is out of this world.
Eyeless intro proves this.
Frontman Corey Taylor explained to Kerrang!: "The album as a whole is the story of the last four years for this band, so AOV is basically about looking at each other and dealing with a lot of the issues that we've had, to try to bury those hatchets, so we can get back on our feet. Because you can't stand together until you figure out what the issue is. You have to get on the same page to be a move forward."
"It's just really about finding a way to stand on the common ground and not only stand on it, but take that territory back," he added, "and guard it as your own."
Best song of the album
"I don't wanna watch another brother f*ckin die" refers to Paul Gray.
If you watch any interviews with any individual member of the band you'll realize that Corey does not speak for the band.
Joey left/was fired partially because of a medical condition that he is only now claiming that he has recovered from 100%. The other part is speculative.
You guys should check out Toxic Garbage Island by Gojira!
It's super cool you guys are going to Knotfest, I just got my pit tix today too!
Take care \m/
