  • In this video, I talk about Starfield and why it is genuinely brilliant. If you're a fan of sci-fi games this is a must play, and is an out-of-this-world gaming experience, one you should definitely play before the Shattered Space DLC comes out.
    #starfield #starfieldgame #starfieldgameplay #starfieldupdate #starfieldreview #xbox
Let's get one thing straight, this game is far from perfect. There are a fair few things that are wrong with the game, as there are with a lot of games, and there are somethings that admittedly are flat out unacceptable in a modern day release. But in an overall sense, this is one of the most fun games I have played in a really long time. One that I would argue is quintessentially Bethesda.
To be perfectly honest, I first played this game right when it was available on game pass. As a fan of Fallout 4 (another controversial opinion I know), I figured if what bethesda was selling was a Fallout game but in space, it would be a perfectly good way of passing the time. And since it was on xbox game pass I didn’t have to spend any more money that I wasn’t already spending.
However the more I played, the more I understood that this game is a slow burn, all the things that I initially saw as boring, such as the questing just got better and better the more I played the game. Even the ship combat which I vowed I would do as little as possible at the start of my play through became so much more fun the more I progressed the game with different ships, perks, and just larger scale combat. The general combat also got more fun as I got more perks, powers and guns.
It turned out Starfield is Genuinely Brilliant!

Upon release, I thought the game was meh. I rushed through the whole game to see this "New Game+". I didn't spend enough time anywhere to appreciate aspects of the game, and I let the internets opinion of this game ruin my own.. But...
I'm currently 200 hours into my second playthrough, and I feel so incredibly immersed in this game and have not grown tired of it. Incredible story lines and characters, a well thought out universe, and some INCREDIBLY beautiful planets if you are willing to give exploration a chance.
Once this game started getting hate, for things like 30fps on console at launch, no seemless launching/landing off of worlds, and IMO the MISUNDERSTANDING that all planets are barren of content, people just ran with the hate and it snowballed. I think many of us who love the game now were influenced by this hate at launch. This game wasn't given a fair chance and I hope after a few DLCs people come back and just play the game for what it is, I think they will thoroughly enjoy it

Thanks man... Finally some content that is not just trashing the game saying that is the worse game of this decade... I've playing Starfield since de Launch and, yes it's not perfect, but the good parts of it are absolutely Majestic... Companions are great, even Sarah, that can bother sometimes, has a great side quest... The updates helped the game to get better and better, and the new dlc has a lot of potential... Starfield is actually a really good game, that i think now can be called Underrated...

Seeing a lot of videos like this coming out now!
It took me about 10 hours to get a feel for starfield & having loved fo4 & skyrim so much in the past, i was disappointed not to just jump in & love it from the first second.
Then i decided to stop projecting what the game "should" be & just let it tell me what type of game it actually was.
Unfinished in many areas yes, but overlooking those flaws, it's actually a really good game & doubtless will become great in time through dlc.

I like the exploration, I like the views, but... One thing that would make this game way more immersive would be implementing Tobii, but that would be putting too much money on a horse with no legs as the player base was very harsh on this title

I think that a lot of people did not even play it. They literally can't lol And a lot of people played it for lime 3 or 4 hours and saw literally anything about the game. What a pity. They skipped some of the most fun and entertaining quests I have played in recent years. This game reminds me a lot of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Quests had the same vibe. Loved it

  • @Hysorn

Honestly, I assumed pretty early on that my problem with the game is exactly that it's the quintessential Bethesda game, which I enjoyed up until around like 2016 but eventually I just grew bored of it, open worlds games just don't do it for me anymore. I can't bring myself to play Oblivion, Skyrim or any of the Fallout games after 2 anymore, but what usually gets me is the writing, Bethesda's style of writing is very... Bland and descriptive, which in turn doesn't give the voice actors a lot to work with, so you just sit there listening to NPCs talk in an almost monotone voice for several minutes while doing nothing, and shit, I got high tolerance for lengthy dialogue, both when it comes to listening or reading, after all, CRPGs are my favorite types of games, but Starfield just couldn't hold my attention, add to that a very "outdated" core gameplay for the lack of a better word and the game lost my interest very quickly.
Thankfully I wasn't really hyped for Starfield so I didn't really get disappointed when I didn't end up enjoying the game. I truly hope Bethesda learn some lessons from Starfield in order to make TES6 an amazing game, I may not enjoy Skyrim's gameplay or Bethesda's game design in general anymore, but TES' lore still holds a special place in my heart and I will probably end up playing it anyways.

The response at SF's release just proves how the gaming community is rooted in knee-jerk, impatient reactions in an art form that has clearly evolved to be a slow-burn, long-term process. Rage-bait abounds and very few have learned the lessons that NMS, Cyberpunk, Sea of Thieves, Star Citizen and the like have taught us. Release does not equal 'finished'. Especially with a game like this where BGS had openly admitted before it was even out that they were building it to be a decade-long game based on the model that Skyrim created.
SF is built to be a game that you play for awhile, move on to other things and loop back around to after several months to see what's new and how it's improved. I'm sick and tired of people talking about that strategy like it's some inexcusable sin. IT's literally what gaming in this era looks like.
For me, I put in about 80 hours in the first 2-3 months after release and came back to it once mod support on console was added- and I've never been mnore invested and excited for the future of a game as I am now. My favorite kinds of art are collaborative projects- and nothing is cooler than something where the audience is literally encouraged to add to the art and mold it to their wishes. The potential for this thing is so huge- and there will be a ton of fun and downright shocking additions to the framework that SF is built on over the next few years. I won't say I can't wait- because I can and I will- and I'll be more than happy to do so.
