Either way that doesn't change anything. she knew everything that was happening in that house and I do believe she was abused but a small one digit percentage of the abuse the children had. That's how it was with my half brother. When I told my mom at 15 she didn't believe me at first. Even though I had severe anxiety and PTSD as a child no help was given. I don't know why a lot of mothers cannot fathom the thought of sexual abuse in families, it happens quite often it seems.

The mother is a narcissist!!! All she cares about is herself. So she blames everyone except herself and doesn't take any responsibility. She doesn't think about anyone else's feelings or needs or how much she is hurting other people. Narcissist never do. The mothers denial is re-traumatizing Amanda.
This was such a triggering for me because this “mother” reminded me of my own adopted “mother”. This is painful to watch.

I think one of the worst things is telling your mother at 11, and have her forget... not believing is a terrible thing in and of itself, but having your mother not REMEMBER such a traumatic point of courage to find help at such such young age. She is so strong, you can tell from the video, so so strong

so even the mom says if it happened 740 times that's not possible right? She's so wrong.
a year is 365 days. 2 years is 730 days. She said this went on for 8 YEARS. She said it had to have happened 4 times a week for it to be that many times. 4/7 days of the week for a year is 208 days. If it did happen 4 times a week then 740 times would take 3.5 years. He was doing it for 8 years. So according to the girls testimony, 740 times over 8 years is 92.5 times a year, which would be 1.77 times per week over the 8 years to add up to 740. Thats 7 times a month. That's absolutely plausible.

This mother is clearly aware of the situation. She has chosen to deny the reality as it may cause her to go within and struggle with her own insecurities of why she wasn't enough. Her behavior makes me question why she's so resistant to her daughter.
I think that she is so desperate to have a man in her life that she will never believe anything any accusations of him doing anything. Including ignoring her daughter’s cries for help! 😢😢😢
Yup. There is another clip in this story where Didi is asking why Amanda would let her daughter spend the night at her house if she was concerned about the same thing happening to her daughter. I was very angry watching Didi be so concerned about what could happen to her granddaughter at the same time she cares nothing about what DID happen to her own daughter.

I'm sorry your Mother never believed you. She should have been there to protect you. Some mothers are empty inside and choose to hide the truth. It's not your fault. It wasn't your fault. It will never be your fault. (Repeat this on a regular basis until you become stronger).
Once you find strength and get older I want you to do the HARDEST thing in life. Forgive your mother for not believing you. Find happiness and seek help from a support group. Close the chapter in your life of the predator who hurt you.. One day you will find love and get married (if you choose to).
Don't shame yourself from your husband. Let him know that it will take time to heal your wounds mentally and sexually. Your husband will love you like a love you never felt before. EMBRACE it. 🙏

2 things stuck out for me:
1) Earl was sentenced to 18 years for both counts which is a 36-year sentence.
2) I have a lot of problems with DeeDee. When you have Amanda flying a polygraph with flying colors, and yes, I get a lot of accusations are false, but Dr. Phil is correct that it needs to be a false-positive system that accusations need to be believed until the facts prove otherwise. But I think DeeDee is failing Amanda as a mother. And my heart breaks for Amanda. DeeDee and her nasty son blame her for her abuse, not believing her, completely ignoring, dismissing her, derogating her and horrible name calling. Even after that recording in the episode was played she still didn't believe her! She is such a nasty, selfish, neglectful person and I hope Amanda goes NC with this trash, DeeDee and her nasty kids.

same here but the abuser was my biological father and only my brother knows. I can't tell my mom because I don't know if she will believe me or support me. my father abused me emotionally physically mentally and xxually and when u try to voice my opinions he snaps and beats me putting all the blame on me. my mother supports him beating me because she thinks I'm being disrespectful. This woman is sooo desperate to have a man, she is willing to “forget “ things that will confront her negligence and abuse of her daughter. She is as responsible as he is and both should be prosecuted.
I honestly didn't like Dr Phil in this one. The family was absolutely horrible to Amanda and straight up delusional defending a predator and he seemed short tempered with her just basically telling her to forgive them. I could never forgive my family if they were that awful, especially if they were like that POS poor excuse for a "mother" on stage.

I’m a former CPS worker and yes, sometimes they do recant. They feel pressured into recanting, they feel confused because the abuse comes from a parent or other family member and still love that person. It doesn’t happen often but it does happen

I would believe my daughter no matter what, I would rather find out my daughter lied and lose my husband, than choosing to believe my husband over my daughter. Either way the relationship would end anyway, whether the accusations were true or not...
To an extent, I understand not wanting to believe that your spouse would molest your daughter. However, even if you don't want to believe your spouse did it, it is still your job as a parent find the truth. To find out if your spouse did do what your daughter is claiming or if it was someone else who did it. And then it is your job to take your daughter out of that situation.

I know a woman who was raped by her stepdad from 12 til her late 20's she got pregnant by him TWICE & yes had both kids . Noone believed her until it was proven he was father of BOTH kids.. she has been so into drugs and self-harm and is an alcoholic now.. those two kids are in foster care.. SO YES ITS HARD TO IMAGINE that kind of sadistic control over someone BUT IT DOES HAPPEN

I was raped and for the longest time no one believed me because they supposedly "knew" the guy and that he was, "a good boy who would never do that. you're just looking for attention". it happened multiple times after school and I know exactly where it happened and could give details about what we were wearing, what he did, what he said, ect. and some how ppl didn't believe me. now some ppl do but a lot don't but ik what happened and I've been going to therapy and getting help to get past it and I'm doing a lot better. it's been 5 years and it doesn't hold as much weight over me anymore

So heartbreaking. I understand rhe grief and lonliness that happens when moms who choose men over their kids. My mom knew too, and did nothing. She continued to stay with a man whose son was completely innapropiate to me on a daily basis. I started drinking at 11 years old, cigarettes by 12 and all drugs 13 and up. I was kicked out and was happier on the streets of seattle, than home. I was 15. Here is the kicker, her boyfriend was a cop. I grew up trusting no one, till this day it is a challenge. Hold your head up!

9/27/21: Even when the polygraph comes out positive, she will still be in denial, and that denial will be replaced with more anger towards her daughter because, after all, she will question the fact that she wasn't enough for her husband, but her daughter was (??) and that alone will screw with her head.
