It’s 2024 Just got a brand new 16 core, 96gigs ram, w5500X which I will be adding my rx6800xt. 2G on eBay, prices are dropping hard. I like to tinker as well.
Maybe the price is dropping because the M3 is coming out soon
For the MPX things, GPU can build a card with dual PCIE slot in use, so, motherboard can provide 275w+275w power. Almost MPX level.
Mac Pro 5,1 user here.. love it. still have it.. gaming on it pretty well too. lots of fun. Running a RX580 8gb

I was curious when you upgraded your Apple SSD if you had 2nd screw in the other slot since usually you had just the one apple ssd, I just purchased one of these and wanted to upgrade ssd and just was curious if I needed to get a screw beforehand or it was somewhere on the case. Great video!

Im considering to upgrade my MacPro from 16 cores to the 24 or the 28 cores, you can get those processors around 1000$ these days.
What would you say?
Im working mainly on after effects.
The other option is to get an M1 Ultra but that's 4x the price of the upgrade...
Any suggestions?

Really the only way to do it. I got the 16 core and took care of everything else from there. When I bought mine, the W5700 was just coming out, so I ran the Radeon VII for a while.

so i bought the OWC accelsior 4 m.2 nvme board and put 4 Samsung 970 evos plus on it brand new and my 2019 mac pro would not turn on i got 2 blinking amber lights so i tried just 1 of Samsung 970s and it read so then i tried 2 still 2 amber lights so i then tried formating each 970 and again same issue and will only allow 1 970 to work i tested the accelsior for n a different computer no issues with the accelsior so is this a Mac OS Monterey issue?
I just find same Mac for $2750 grab it yesterday now hunting for Apple pro display :)
Gotta say, I'm damn impressed by the price you got. You don't to boot of the Apple SSD if you don't care about the T2, I certainly don't ;) Other than, this vid should have more views.

Ok. Buy when I search on eBay there is a lot of different versions and prices. QS, OEM etc . can you link in the description exactly the one you have so we have a safe choice 👍
It is tricky- I would avoid the QS or engineering sample, try to get an original retail one or oem tray- they cost a bit more but are possibly better

Obviously this market has become a situation geared towards the "money is not an object" mentality. Value is out the door and "get it now" is basically gonna get you to overspend. Who wins? Not me!
That’s very true, I bet many people will jump on gpu in stock opportunities if they’re near msrp just because they can get it
@@ClassicalTechnology in my opinion the market on GPU's went ballistic in favor of miners. Speculation is high and it seems like no end in sight. I would of course, if possible pick up a GPU at MSRP and pass on the middle man. It goes to show that a consumer will go the extra mile if an item is inaccessible just like the vendor will go the extra mile to sell it to you for up to 3x the MSRP.
