Apple's Mac Pro released to much fanfare. Finally, Apple users could return to a classic tower PC with PCIe expansion, easy CPU/GPU upgradability, and more. But at a starting price of $6,000, it definitely isn't perfect. In this video, we 3D print some DIY wheels that (a) don't cost $400, but, (b) have the ability to actually lock in place so your computer doesn't roll away. Rather than spend $400 on the Pegasus J2i, we built our own cage and soldered a custom cable since it can't be purchased separately. Then, we added RGB LED into our Mac making it the first PRO GAMER MAC ever and it increased our FPS by over 50%-now we get like 15FPS in most AAA titles. Lastly, we took a FREAKING CIRCULAR SAW to Mac Pro's chassis to fix our biggest annoyance and design frustration. This video is a fun one. Buckle up! - Наука та технологія
My apologies about the audio on this one. It's a bit rough in places. We used new lavalier mics (which are awesome) but had to use an old transmitter because our new ones were having battery issues and got more shirt rub than expected because of normalized gain. We promise this will be fixed by the next video. If it's too annoying, maybe this is one to watch through your smartphone or laptop speakers instead of hi-fi headphones. 😉 Sorry once again. - Quinn
Which mics are you using?
@@dontthroworanges Shure TL47. Our Lectrosonics wireless system is almost ready to go but not yet-waiting on special batteries-so we are using the Sennheiser AVX and it attempts to level normalize which is the worst.

Here’s another stupid idea to make this more ridiculous: How about motors on the mac pro wheels so you can drive it around like a RC car
Oh god, you could turn it into a Roomba
This was one of my first ideas but it was just too difficult to make. We were going to pull apart the sensors found inside those "AI suitcases" that follow you around with the intention of creating an "AI obstacle course" where my motorized Mac Pro would race a Tesla lol
@@snazzy if the issue was with using the sensors and not adding motors to the wheels, this might still be possible assuming there is a way to control the motors. Either way, taking the mac pro out on a walk like this was pretty funny too

*angry Jony Ive noises*
As a Mac Pro owner, i simply agree with the statement. I bought the rack version, using it as a tower, just to not have to unplug cables before opening it up. I don't care that the apple logo is now turned sideways, because i still have Apple care.
Username Actually I’m a fan of the over engineering. I think there still should have been a way to slide it open, but I’d buy a Mac Pro just to have the tower. It looks so much better than PCs

Apple: We made an upgradable pc
Quinn: ummmmmmmm
Well... He did just upgrade it... with power tools... and a soldering iron... and a 3D printer... and only one of the upgrades doesn't come with sub $500 non prebuilt PC's as standard.
But computers in corporate environments are usually pretty unloved anyway. So nobody cares if they accidentally kick it because it's placed on the floor under their desk so wheels are ideal. My PC weighs a ridiculous amount (and will be even heavier once I finish the custom loop watercooling) but it doesn't need wheels because it is on my desk and I have to lift it anyway even if it did have wheels.

one liiiitle thing people always forget you need to storage: cache! Man, try to work with your cache on the network or in a 256gb ssd... N I G H T M A R E
As long as the drive has cache, I don't see the issue
There are a lot of cacheless SSDs, which tend to be the really cheap poor quality offerings, but as long as you know where to look for information on which drives have cache and which don't, you can make sure you get a good drive.
@@mrmaniac3 i guess he is refering to not being able to cash the data localy when you are working from a network drive

Next time, crimp the terminal prongs (the longer ones) over the wire insulation. The electricians in the audience will thank you for it.
Yup, longer prongs are designed to crimp through the insulation, this is the main strength for holding the wire to the connector. Another mistake is that do NOT twist the wire, strands need to be straight so that the short prongs can separate the strands into two bunch as they make an indent into the copper, when the short prongs get crimped and curl inward

"or you could use spinning rust" im dead
This is a VERY COMMON PHRASE, which has been in common IT parlance for many years. You must be quite young.
I loved and miss my old Power Mac G3-G4 design. You just opened a latch (like on the top of the new Mac Pro, but without rotating,) and folded the side of the case down. Computer was running the whole time. All the cables were routed to pass right next to the hinge, so everything was readily accessible with the side open.
Another conquer by snazzy labs! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Best PC ever ever!
ASUS, we just can't do it this good!
20mins demonstrating why I'll never want to own a Mac.
So again Apple over complicates everything and makes you have to jump loops and hoops so you can´t use standard PC pieces in order to make them look "Premium".
No thanks, with the amount of money spent on that Mac Pro I can get a PC with a third more performance, if not double the performance.
Exactly, and with how bad Final Cut has gotten in comparison to Premiere in recent years there's really no argument for OSX at this point either. I have few friends that will still argue it's value simply for the sake of Logic for audio but there's equivalent if not better programs under windows at this point in time.

Something that’s pretty fascinating to me about the Mac Pro connector/cover discourse is that video people claim that it’s a problem for music people, and music people claim it’s a problem for video people, but both groups mostly say it’s not a problem for themselves.
I have to wonder about the musicians who constantly have to swap out cards. I know some folks have pretty fancy high-end DSP boxes and so on but these days most stuff runs on CPU and GPU, and for ages my own studio setup has all been contained to an external audio interface. The only plugs I’ve had to deal with in the past decade are FireWire or USB - everything else is connected to those external devices. These days I run my entire studio from an iMac, and previously was on a 2013 Mac Pro and a Mac mini before that. CPU and hard drive bandwidth have been the only things I’ve needed to upgrade for.
I haven’t had to go down the ADAT route just yet but even if I did, that’d be handled by the external audio interface.
So, what am I missing?
Their a driver version of the new Mac for music
🤔Expensive at $50 a kilogram 🙋🏻♂️oh Snazzy, let me introduce you to some proper expensive pricing, oh wait it’s already your Apple computers 🤦🏻♂️🤣
You could also fit the sata cables like PCI-E power connectors, in a daisy chain. It might look a little nicer
I literally just bought that exact crimper and intended to look up how it works. I didn't think this video would show when I clicked it. Thanks for saving me time.
you should still look it up. because that was totally wrong. he used the wrong hole to crimp and you only crimp one time in the right hole and to the orientation that fit the flares in the crimper. and the strain relief is not even on the wire insulation. there is 2 sets of wings on the terminal one for the wire and the other for the insulation as strain relief. and as a side note you should not twist the wires in these kind of terminals, thats is a rookie mistake.
Best regards and to you @Snazzy Labs

Funny part is that most of the people who buy the Mac Pro are not the kind of people who would DIY. But Quinn is kind of a guy who would do it anyway for the sake of our curiosity. Thumbs up to you
Hey, quick question, does the ports on the top automatically comes back online by putting the outer case back on? Or do you need to reboot for macos to realize that the ports are there?
One of the nice things about the rack-mount Mac Pro (RackPro) is that you can open the PC without unplugging the power cable. Since lots of music gear is also rack-mountable, the RackPro is a much better fit for most musicians
For DIY wheels I reckon use a nice thick stained slab of wood cut to the footprint of the mac. Then cut deep circular holes for the feet to slot in. Then screw whatever wheel casters you want to the bottom of the wood. That would look pretty stylish.
Not a bad idea at all.
The green internal lighting looks sick, a more refined lighting attempt gets a vote from me!
Sick in the true meaning of the word, yes.
