i like how u list down the 3rd party components to buy in ur description. keep up the good videos man. Subbed!
Thank you for this information. god sent!
Keep it up bro. I’ve been watching you grind on UA-cam and love your effort and quality of videos ♥️
Yeah he's getting better.
Thanks for the great educational video!...Keep 'em coming!
Thank you bro! This is exact what I've been looking for!
I am thinking of getting this Mac to replace my "Garbage can" and this video answered every question that I had. Thank you
A rare channel that helps you save money.
Hi, thanks for info... great video ! I wanted to know if i am running also bootcamp on this will any hard drives work or only the apple SSD inside can ? I really need this info asap thanks
I’m looking at buying the base Mac Pro and possibly upgrading to the Radeon Pro W5700X with 16GB. Do you suggest that or upgrading the gpu in my own? I heard you loose thunderbolt ports if you upgrade on your own. BTW, upgrading from a 2017 27” iMac with a 4.2. I’m far from a professional but this seems like a better way to go then purchasing the current iMac Pro. I do have a 49” dell 5k ultra wide. Looking for better video editing performance in final cut and premier.
very nice video
Afterburner card is much better upgrade than any GPU!
i wish there was any alternative to that
so you can put two different gpu in the mac pro i'm going to try it
96 GB RAM is a lot of memory. Are you able to fully utilize this much memory? I ask as I am interested in upgrading my 5,1 Mac Pro to that much memory.
Congratulations on being able to use a new Mac Pro as well. That's a beautiful machine. (:
Hey my dude. Can you walk me through the whole SSD T2 interweaving assistance thing? Or link me to a video that describes this. I'm having a difficult time finding resources.
0:10 "Powermac G5 that came outs 23 years ago"
*checks release date*
G5 released in 2003. That ain't 23 years, dawg.
He's only off by a few years. ;)
Great suggestions. But any suggestions for those crazy expensive monitors. Any other products that can replace those monitor options?
What?! The monitor is a literal steal. If you want something better, you'd be looking at sony reference monitors in the 30 to 50 thousand range.
Just as an FYI, the processor listed and mentioned as a replacement is NOT the same 28 core proc that Apple offers. You can tell just by the clock speed difference. The one Apple offers is the Intel Xeon W-3275m intel.ly/2SAHEbj. Great video though!
You're right! The one from Apple can support more ram (2TB vs 512gb), turbos up to 4.4ghz (vs 3.8 for 3175x, but base clock is higher (3.1) vs 3275m (2.5), supports faster RAM (2933 vs 2666), more pci-e lanes (60 vs 48), lower power consumption (205w vs 255w). But the almost $5000 difference probably won't be worth it to all but the most extreme user, and 512gb of RAM is probably enough to do most anything. So yes, I agree the 3175x is a great upgrade solution!
Still expensive upgrade base model cost vs mind blow custom threadripper pc
quick question there, with the SSD, can you actually install and run macos from the pcie nvme drive? or even better, can you put in 4x nvme ssd drives, run those in raid 0 and run macos from them? because 256GB ssd is way slow by itself, the 1TB SSD upgrade is necessary, if you cant run macos from the pcie ssd drives.. :-/ with 1TB ssd you get 2x512GB running in RAID 0, so they are faster.. :-/ thats the dillema :-)
Hey I'm wondering..when you added the video card. do you by chance notice your Kernel_task process taking up about 30% of a CPU core?
Hey man, do you have any proof that the Xeon W-3175X will work? Its supposed to not work because of a different stepping mode.
Thinking about upgrading my Mac Pro with a 3rd party GPU but I’ve heard that they don’t allow the Mac Pro to sleep and the fans ramp up, do you have any issues with this setup?
Can I use the Intel Xeon W-3245M QS version on the Mac Pro 2019 ? It will work? What would the difference between the Intel Xeon W-3245? Thanks
Silly question. I have the 8 core but have 384 GDB of RAM but also have the 256gb ssd but also have a 4tb internal ssd. Should I upgrade my cpu to at least 16 cores? Or ssd to 1tb? I’ve noticed my Adobe apps aren’t that incredibly fast as I expected. Any suggestions welcomed.
8:30 premiere and after doesn't perform too well in Mac with strong GPU, I made an comparison with the "same" style of rendering and after effects and motion and compressor have much more performance with a strong GPU connected. one file was 15 min to render after GPU, was to 7, than put a new OS, now I render in 1 or 2 minutes. another video 30 min to 12 to 4 minutes render in FCPX but in premiere pro I didn't get too much performance.
How about the fans on the Vega 64? Loud?
Another question, what about the Sleep mode with the RX Vega 64? everything Works fine?
Were those pins bent for the CPU? Or that is a tricky MAC design? :D
Peter M yea probably to scare people off , sending it to Apple and then if you don’t have warranty , they’ll probably charge you over 1000$ for nothing.
i need your help!!! not to tech savvy but i need to upgrade my computer, i’m a mac guy but i edit on adobe.. ppl trying to push me towards pc and idk wtf to but.. but i was ready to buy the base model mac pro and start there .. if i bought pc and wanted to get the best possible for around 5-6k what should i get??? help🙏🙏🙏
The RAM link is different RAM than the base model RAM (2666Mhz). Does it matter?
don't use that Adobe crappy Premiere and you will get 20 times more performance without any hw upgrade :)
Hello, I bought the MAC Pro 2018 in the 8 Core version. Unfortunately the CPU W 3175X does not work in my system! Why is that?
He was mistaken in recommending that and shouldn't have just guessed. The Mac Pro 2019 CPUs are Xeon W-32xx models, not W-31xx. If you don't need more than 768GB of RAM, save a few grand and get the W-3275 and not the W-3275M that Apple uses (which enables the Mac Pro's 1.5TB RAM limit).
@@fhturner3 Excuse me, but in the video at position 9:53 the W-3175X is mentioned as possible CPU! The video should then be changed! Thanks for the answer!
Is it still true that i can not Upgrade my internal 1TB SSD to a larger 4TB SSD and boot from that? I really cant believe this! Cant anyone help. I just purchased the SSD and the M.2 PCIe adapter thinking I can upgrade and Migrate. from a backup. Damn, Apple. not alone is my Mac Pro 2019. almost obsolete since the introduction f M1-M2 but. wow. Im so pissed. Does anyone know how to make this work?
Is the vega 64 better than 5700 xt ?
Ahmad awad idk , maybe it is , I mean the Vega 64 I think is on the level of a GTX 1080 where the 5700 XT is more like GTX 1060-1070.
the ram you picked isn't ECC ram. did you all look for ECC ram that wasn't 1000?
Does everyone need ECC? Doubt.
But if you upgrade things yourself , don’t you completely loose your warranty of your Mac Pro ?
No you will not loose the warranty. There is a law called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1976. It forbids manufacturers enforcing consumers to only buy there components, and essentially allows you to upgrade your system. Now if you damage your device while upgrading it, then that’s a different story and it will void it
@@JustinGedeon ok then.
So how do you upgrade to at least a 512 system drive. 256 is useless.
Great video but the base model is ass
I mean 6000 dollars for an 8 core xeon 256gb ssd why why why that's bullshit it does not matter if it's Apple
i missed you waj
Is the apple software really THAT GOOD to justify such massive markups. Sure the engineering looks great, but it's not worth what Apple is asking. Honestly don't get why people are buying these things compared to the alternatives.
StingyGeek Not regular people. Pros. This thing is actually for real professionals unlike their trash can macs and iPhone “Pro”. People are confused but it’s not meant for regular people. Professional gear costs a lot more for several reasons, like stability. Have you seen how much ecc ram and the professional nvidia graphics card costs? This thing is not out of the norm in terms of cost. In terms of software, if the engineer or video animator finds it easier to work on Mac and can save 1-2 hours using it, then over time it adds up. There are also many other reasons but I think you get the gist of it now
Especially for large corporations, they can buy multiple Mac pros for their employees and over time it invests itself basically
@@JoeARedHawk275 Thankyou. That makes sense. I guess someone is buying their stuff and seeing the value...they don't seem to be going broke. Although...they should be when they charge $1000 for a monitor stand!
For me the software is hands down without a doubt worth it
Students get this for much cheaper
Heck no...I built 1920x 12 core threadripper x399 designare set up with nzxt gunmetal mid atx case windows 64 pro 10 usb with red dragon keyboard hero ii lg mouse 64 (4×16) gb 3200mhz oc 3600 corsair dominator platinum c16 ddr4 ram 1080ti xtreme 11gb gigabyte gpu 1200w evga mod p2 psu artic freezer cpu fan lg blue ray writer 500gb evo Samsung ssd 4tb wd 7200rpm black hdd with 1440p asus 27 inch monitor ips freesync and 24 inch full hd tn monitor gsync for less $4k. PC more performance power gaming and do alot more atx case...alot cheaper. Upgrade to 128gb dont need 1.5 tb pc ecc ram and to 24/32 cores threadripper anybody ever need.
Unfortunately a lot of guesswork and inaccurate information here, as well as no diving into questionable results (didn't you wonder why the Vega GPU only saved you 37 seconds or something on a 12-minute export??). Need to check your information and not just go ahead w/ the video full of unconfirmed assumptions (like that a Xeon W-31xx CPU would work...I'm sorry, you said "should work"...SMH). I'd normally let that slide, but you're going to cost some people some money if they don't verify what they're hearing from you...
The ram "upgrade" in particual is borderline stupidity and total lack of understanding of hardware. You don't kitbash ram kits, that is a coinflip for each individual module. You do not, ever, kitbash unbuffered ECC ram modules. Imagine spending 6k on a mac and kitbash random ECC modules.. i don't even...
How to Upgrade The Mac Pro. Install Linux.
First
basically, Apple charges x2 for every upgrade
my NEW $2000ish PC it's more powerful then the $7000-$8000 Mac pro. AND i use a small factor case as a bonus. lol
I believe that right away, you did well !
why dont you all do a comparison against a windows computer that is DOUBLE what the Mac Pro is and see how that works out? always whining about how expensive the Mac Pro is but thats NOTHING compared to whats out there. ugh
The base configuration is WAY too expensive. LOL
Check his last video on a computer half the price for more power.
You’re paying to get in the ecosystem like when you buy a RED brain.
Compare with what? A clone PC? what about a Dell server or good branch PC? I don't think Apple is too expensive if you compare with real servers.
Sorry mac throw that in the trash no one should get RIP off like this
Oh look a hipster
Solution...don't buy it...build pc buy a small house or car. Apple going to RIP you off anyway in service or purchase. Consider replacement cost...another 50k.
