  • This is the first big fight in the Robot Jox movie. 2 giant robots in an arena trying to take eachother out. Brilliant stuff.

      Yeah. Though Robot Jox it's because the air is poisoned from nuclear war. Lots of great touches in the movie regarding that. Sexing up pregnant women on posters to encourage breeding. "Real meat" in the dinner amounting to a single sausage in the broth. Great stuff.

  • @TheRealPDizzle

    People think I'm crazy but this is actually one of my favorite movies not just a fun shitty B sci-fi to laugh at
    I actually get goosebumps during the fight scenes
    I think it has to do with the fact that I was born in 90 and started watching this every day after school in 93
    I would love more than anything to see a high quality R rated remake of this film not some stupid ass Pacific (ass) Rim nonsense

    • @Yeet_Tsavo
      @Yeet_Tsavo 6 років тому +5

      Ditto, although I did like Pacific Rim.
      This film could be remade into a tense, semi-realistic war/sci-fi flick with an emphasis on the human psyche vs war and PTSD. Its already a running theme in this film, as Achilles is psyched out by this guy over this fight, let alone having to watch all the other pilots he knows fall prey to this guy already. He just wants to serve his contract and live his life, spend time with his loved ones. This Russian pilot was the most lethal of his time and for Achilles It was like facing the grim reaper, but by the end of the film he not only beats that fear, he finds out the other guy wanted the same thing as him all along.

    • @maxfieldstanton5005
      @maxfieldstanton5005 3 роки тому

      Part One showed Hollywood’s limitations to adapt the source material IMHO.
      They had a massive green tank and in the theaters it called itself “Devastator” and even looked like the original Devastator from the source material, only not as big, and not a combiner.
      Bone Crusher, originally the name of one of Devastator’s leg components was turned from a bulldozer into a dump truck with a claw arm and had one of the better fight sequences in the film. Later on they renamed “Devastator” as “Brawl” for the home release, giving the name Devastator to a robot combiner that looked more like the monster from Cloverfield.
      That was in Revenge of The Fallen.

      Probably because that would be considered a ranged weapon (a really BIG missile) and thus illegal according to the rules of the fight. More than likely the rocket punch was intended to act as a pushing weapon- deployed at melee range to distract and knock the Market robot off of its feet. That's why it worked even though the referees had shut down all ranged weapons- it was not designed nor approved to be a ranged weapon. The way it was used here, however, may not have been how it was designed or intended to be used, thus it flew "out of control" because it had no steering motors.

    This is a real underestimated classic! The father of giant robot fighting movies! I love this movie and wish they would make a 2! Maybe with Tom Cruise as the pilot?

    Verhoeven is a damn good director. I don't see why he's the "obvious" choice but I did admire Robocop and even Starship Troopers had it's moments.
    With a decent budget for CGI and effects, a GOOD script, and good actor/cast this would be a good remake. I waited weeks for this to come out on VHS originally in the video store, loved the idea just not entirely thrilled on the execution.

    I think everyone who grew up pre-Netflix has ay least one film they watched on TV as a child, immensely enjoyed but never knew the name of and therefore had a tough time finding it as an adult. Robot Jox is such a film for me.

    I have as much pity for those people at the end of this clip, as I have for those who live right next to volcanoes, who live on top of where powerful earthquakes occur and those who think living next to the ocean was a great idea.

    • @youreallinsane
      @youreallinsane 10 років тому +2

      So.. a lot of pity? Cause they are all people. I suppose you live in tornado land or maybe a desert. Natural disasters are everywhere.

    • @Mikeanglo
      @Mikeanglo 10 років тому +1

      I think you'd be surprised how many people still live by volcanoes...there are about 1500 on Earth and you're talking about everyone who lives in Hawaii, California, etc. Hell, if Yellowstone ever blows it could cause mass extinction on a planetary basis...so where could you possibly live safely from all these elements?
      Wherever it is, I'm sure it's dull.

    Of course its a cheesy movie, but I love it, take it to heart and actually try to at times to sort of mode it in more modern theme, considering I've seen this movie hundreds of times.

    Let them have their day, I say. This was the shit that got me into giant robots before Power Rangers and Gundam, and I'm still pumped that we've got something new, big, and exciting to add to the legacy of giant mecha fiction.
    And while I've accepted CGI's monopoly on special effects in the modern era of cinema, I agree: STOP MOTION RULES

    For those who don't know, this was originally written as a MechWarrior/Battletech movie. As a fan of the franchise, I can see elements of this that got left in.
    Honestly, the movie makes more sense knowing this.

      This was not a Full Moon production. It was made for Charles Band's previous studio Empire Pictures back in the late 80s. It was their most expensive production to date and bankrupted the studio. Then Band went on to form Full Moon.
