@Rand Usually the owner of a biker bar is either a member, or working very closely with the MC that frequents it. Basically a part of the MC. Not every bar a MC stops at is linked with the MC, but in this case the bartender has a vest similar to the member who got the knife stuck through his shoulder, which leads me to believe that he is very closely involved with this MC.
Gotta remember that this was pre internet, and most people went into the theater thinking that Robert Patrick was playing the good guy and Arnie was playing the bad guy - ie. a similar dynamic to the first movie. This scene was important, as it brought in a little comedy into the franchise for the first time, and changed people's perception of the terminator character, and what it could be

@@Krystalmyth We know that, you're just stating the obvious. This was going next level - what's the world building of the script team like. We have to go by what the bar tender knew. The movie makers shouldn't make the average people to expect robots. It's not that obvious for the bar tender that this was a robot - not in an 80's world. Nowadays some might think that, when we have the experimental humanlie robots in test phases. Here, it was most likely this was a body builder, crazy on steroids and maybe something else. But he likely didn't trust the shotgun to stop the big guy, even if taking a leg out - is how I would accept his behaviour. Just there's also this stupid repeating movie solution: bring the gun within the hand reach. So not everything in this scene is scripted smartly.
It's product placement. Companies give their stuff away and pay the studios to immerse whatever it is they want to market. It's why everyone on tv uses a mac computer, James Bonds various accoutrements, gadgets and car manufacturers are all paying top dollar for a few moments of screen time. Especially if the character using their product is "cool" like the Terminator. It can be well executed and seamlessly integrated into a plot or narrative like in this case, but can also be a little clunky and crass when crow-barred into a shot or conversation, out of obligation to some fast food corp for example. Even Anime movies and cartoons use product placement. Some animators have to draw replicas of the devices and clothing available in reality to advertise. It's trippy.
@@christopherangeli1141 :)) And you have to also realize that it`s gonna be in that particular movie FOREVER! So if it`s a blockbuster it`s advertisement forever. I guess, they pay them really good money :)) Greetings from Germany pal
One small detail I never even noticed until now is that he steals the bike and drives it away into the night without ever turning on its headlight... which makes sense when you consider a T-800 could see in the dark just fine.
Wait till you see JESUS Christ's second coming in the clouds prepare to requote this comment. JESUS Christ being God and omnipresent is going to cause every gaythiest to see him come and take believers to HEAVEN. JESUS Christ has an undercover mode where he looks like a regular man. JESUS Christ in his natural form is God almighty consisting of potent strong literal holy fire raging from his very being. God basically is like in a human form with hands feet eyes, but instead of consisting of flesh, he consists of holy literal flaming fire, and his second coming he will come in glory mode and everyone alive is going to run and hide like from a tornado
I know the terminator being a good guy in T2 was supposed to be sort of a surprise reveal but the fact that he doesn’t kill anyone here and gets a cool song as he exits the scene made it pretty clear.
Normally it would be out of character given the how brutal the entrance of T1's T-800 was, but it makes sense in the context of T2's T-800 being deployed by the Resistance, that the modified programming to protect Connor may have already affected its general behavior before young Connor would reinforce the no-kill order onto the T-800 unit.
That’s an interesting perspective. It’s true that Arnold never went as dark as the first “Terminator” again. To anyone familiar with his image and filmography in general, him playing a villain, especially one that cold, truly stands out.
That's great scene continuity from Cameron! You barely if at all get that from filmmakers today. It does say a lot about Arnold's Screen Presence that you don't notice the guy on the hood.
Such an amazing and well thought out scene. Within 5 minutes you know this guy is immune to pain, can break bones like nothing, can take heavy blunt damage to the head and stab wounds and remain unfazed, wields strength beyond that of any human, can have deadly firearms pointed at him and not care and that his persona is straight to the point with no bullshitting. It felt like Cameron sat down and wrote this in part for people who hadn't seen the first film and jumped straight into this one. They got the basic gist of a Terminators capabilities within 5 minutes: This dude is basically unstoppable to ordinary non-future plasma rifle wielding humans. For fans of the first movie who knew about the T-800 it was just pure power fantasy. Cameron is a genius film maker.
CrushofSiel, we do not blame you. You asked for real terminator movies, not bad movies with terminator skins like Hollywood. You're just as much of a victim as the rest of us.
One of the first memories of my existence that I have is T2 when Arnie yanks the shotgun out of box of roses and says "Get down!". I was barely 3 and a half.
This movie blew my mind apart when I was a child. Thank you James Cameron and everyone that was a part of this film. I know every word. Seen it probably T1000 times
I can remember the hype surrounding this movie being enormous; the merchandise, the marketing, and rumours circulating that Arnold was going to be the good guy. Was blown away when I eventually saw it on its VHS release and whenever I've seen it since, I'm just as amazed. This will remain an epic masterpiece on so many levels. The grand scale production of the whole thing with a budget dwarfing the first movie was colossal. The cinematography, costumes and the soundtrack theme for each terminator is timeless. Whereas the first one had clear and distinct 80s vibes, this one doesn't seem to be connected to a specific era, it's just way ahead of its time and will never age.
"Listen, and understand! That Terminator is out there! It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you give him your clothes, boots and motorcycle"

The sign of a masterpiece is a movie that is timeless. That this movie is over 30 years old is totally mind-blowing, it hasn't lost any of its edge over the years. One of my favourites and certainly one of the best action films ever created. Every single thing about this scene is the definition of badass. There is no fluff to it. Genius stuff, truly.
One of the most badass scenes in film history.. When he snatches the gun off that dude and takes his shades.. The bad to the bone soundtrack in the background just takes this to a whole nother level of badassery
Sometimes people don't get why he took the shades... In T1 it was obvious, he had to hide the tissue damage. I've seen people saying that T-800 has style preference, but that's not it. He was about to ride a bike remember, and just wanted to have something to protect his eyes, at least the fake ones from from dust and flies falling in, same as human bikers do, so he wouldn't have to clean them. He doesn't need shades for exactly the same variety of reasons as humans, but he's still totally machine rational by taking them.
I'm not sure if women would react that positively to a totally naked guy walking into a bar, even with his body, simply because it's automatically a complete freakshow thing to do. It's something that people will get into alot of trouble for doing, most likely even with Schwarzenegger's body.

@@richiefranklin76 it was pretty obvious by the tone of the movie that arnold was the good terminator at the very beginning. Also, you immediately see the new terminator killing people and had the evil smile way before he fights Arnold. Also, the trailers and media interviews showed all of that but i never considered that a spoiler because of the above reason. The spoiler/twist of the movie was the terminator learning how to be human then killing himself at the end of the movie. No one was really expecting that. It was really sad and had everyone tearing up, but then when he gave a thumbs up everyone laughed and clapped. That was completely kept hidden from the public so it had a huge impact at the end. Also, the death of Miles was unexpected as well.
@Ed So When I saw T2 for the first time, I was sure Arnold is still the bad guy. The scene in mall hallway and „GET DOWN” left me shocked as hell...
The best Harley Davidson commercial that actually was not a commercial
And pepsi

@@vinesauceobscurities yes, it all makes sense given what we later learn in the film. I’m referring to the experience of seeing it for the first time.
That’s an interesting perspective. It’s true that Arnold never went as dark as the first “Terminator” again. To anyone familiar with his image and filmography in general, him playing a villain, especially one that cold, truly stands out.

It felt like Cameron sat down and wrote this in part for people who hadn't seen the first film and jumped straight into this one.
