      @@EverythingPlants I removed the yellow leaves like you did. I purchased a cutting (first time) so I’m assuming my Hoya was getting acclimated to the soil.

    I had the same problem with mine. In my case was overwatering. Now I only water enough so the pot is moist but never let water come through the drainage hole. Since then it's gave me new growth.

      Awesome. Overwatering is quite possible, but I haven't changed anything then I normally do. This video was filmed a while ago and it is doing well....no more yellow leaves.

    I am by no means an expert, but I think this was an issue that is 100% related to the soil being primarily amended with perlite. If you put some lava rocks and charcoal in the bottom, then amend the soil with orchid bark, it should be headed in a much better direction. I am still trying to master calcined clay and worm castings, but that could help as well.

    Since your Hoya plant expried. Do you think that you could cut off the stems before it completed died and progated them in the pertlite? At least you would have new starts for a new plant. I want to try to keep my plant for several years to be a show piece. Someone made a comment about one of their stems was getting real wrinkle and the roots where showing. I had that happen to my plant, I put my soil mixture on top, did not seem to help. Next time I am gong to take that stem out and progated, cut it up if it is too long, and see if I can safe it.

      I have done this to other hoyas (Chelsea) that was declining, so I chopped it and placed the cutting in perlite. It's now back in soil after rooting nicely. I think it was in my most recent propagation video

    Hi there. I came across your video. I have been searching online how to troubleshoot because mine has been growing well but all of a sudden the leaves started turning yellow for at least 2 weeks now. I have been inspecting if there were bugs or mites. I saw millie bugs 3 months ago and I immediately quarantined the plant. I bath the leaves with alcohol/liquid dish soap/water concoction for 3 times a week. I did not change the soil because I did not see any on the soil. I bathe the plant for about 2-3months when I did not find anymore signs of the millie bugs. About 2 weeks ago, the leaves are turning yellow. I should take it repot with new soil and hoping that it will resolve the problem. She is hanging under my picnic umbrella. I did not change the way I water her. **i'm crossing my fingers**

    Can you please help me with my Hoya plant. My plant is about 20 years old, has long stems that I have wrapped around the curtain rod. My problem is that the leaves are turning yellow and falling off which make large empty spaces on the vine. Now I noticed that the leaves look crinkly. I have never changed the original planter and I only water it when the soil is dry. I absolutely love this plant. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  2 роки тому

      Hello Amy. Feel free to send a picture of the plant to my Instagram so I can see it. Sounds like it is root bound and needs new soil. I think you will most likely have to trim it up and repot it to get it to flourish again. It's tough to give information without seeing the plant, but im guessing that is the reason.

    Absolutely gorgeous Hoya---that is big coming from me, someone who is trying to understand the hoya thing. I purchased a few unrooted hoya cuttings a few months back. I am not familiar with the names, but I have this one and it will likely be my favorite (when it actually grows!) Is this a faster or slower growing hoya? This one I am going to try my hardest not to over water it. I really think that was what I was doing. I did finally learn that bottom watering is the best, the roots will grow down. I just recently got in three small Varigated Hoya Carnosa Compacta. I really want to keep them alive. I am not going to take them out of their pot until I see roots comming out of the bottom.
