I’ve started using the orchid fertilizer and my Hoyas have been doing amazing! I’ve only been using them about a month and one of my Hoyas already has a peduncle 🤗
I swear by the orchid fertilizer method ESPECIALLY for my hindu rope since it grows so slow! I had a compacta variegata cutting that did nothing for me for months until I started spraying it. I spray the new growth/growth tips once a week with the foliar spray and I really think it helps it push out new cluster of leaves regularly!
I use the Miracle Grow Orchid spray on all of my hoyas and they absolutely love it. Between the orchid spray and and my grow lights, all of them are exploding with new growth!
I JUST bought this plant, wow what perfect timing for this video :) Mine is in suchhh a small pot and I know it'll take ages to grow to the size of yours.
We are on the same wavelength ✨ lol It’s alright time flies, soon you’ll be looking at your long trails remembering when it was just a baby. I’m still shocked at how big mine has grown
I've had a hindu rope for about 9 months & I've had NO growth :( I will try your tips! I'm still fairly new to houseplants and would love a video on what soil to use on what plants, when and how to use fertilizer, when and how to repot. 🤗
I just got this plant yesterday and its my first ever Hoya! so your video is very informative for a beginner like me 😅. i live in a hot humid weather all year round, and placed it in my balcony with bright indirect sunlight. theres a lot more for me to learn about this plant. all i need to be now is patient since that this plant is such a slow grower. thank you so much! ☺️
bought mine recently but discovered mealy bugs on it last week :( luckily it's just a cutting so wasn't too much of a nightmare to clean. repotted it and now watching it like a hawk to make sure they don't return!
I have a krimson princess that just stopped growing randomly for months even though nothing changed. I sprayed the orchid food mist on the foliage and a week or so later noticed new growth.
Thank you Erika I have a small clipping of my mothers plant which is very old. My mothers plant is from 1980's. She is no longer with us but my sister has this plant and it is very large! It has bloomed for her several times. My plant or clipping all of sudden after 4 years started to yellow. After listening to you I think is from lack of sunlight. I was thinking of taking and clipping it before that section died. I will see if my sister can send me a picture of the plant so you can see a plant that is really old, somewhere around 40 years old.
This is the only plant that I have never killed. I lost some length due to not watering completely. When I first got it I was so afraid to overwater it that the ends got dry. But it's still going strong. I just got a variegated one and I can't wait for it to grow long and strong.
Your Hindu Rope looks so luscious and beautiful! I have a little one that barely is starting to hang over the edge of the pot. 😂I do use the orchid spray on my hoyas. I do think it helps them. It's the only fertilizer I use on them and so far they seem to like it. Thanks for sharing Erika!
I love this plant! I am considering propagating mine. Lovely propagation example, was that a different one than the one featured on video or did you propagate it before?
omg i have two, i do spray orchid spray on all my hoys plants and my hoya rope grow so fast it have put on at-less 4 to 6 inches in the last year .... try the orchid spray and you will see
I LOVE my hoyas. I have one of the carnosa compacta and have just cut some to propagate. I look for a place that is with less leaves because I just canNOT cut off ANY of the beautiful leaves!
I have a question not pertaining g to this plant but that plant. Really is beautiful. I have outdoor plants that survived winter indoors I just noticed something is eating them.. I see crystal like balls (tiny) on them and whatever it is is eating / killing them .. what is it? How do I get rid of them?
How quickly does yours grow? I have mine off to the side of a bright window and always wonder if I should move it closer. It gave me a few new leaves and I hear that they're super slow growers, so maybe that's alright... but I have no idea how quickly they grow under ideal conditions.
These are excellent tips about the Hoya Carnosa Compacta (aka Hindu Rope). As the video suggests, the roots of this plant like to be crowded. Extremely crowded. And, there are two things I have found to be of the utmost importance and keeping this plant both healthy, and alive. You must not overwater this plant under any circumstances, and it must get top light. The leaves on the top need to be provided an abundance source of light. If it does not get enough light, or you do not rotate the plant so that all tendrils get adequate light, prepare for plant death. Be certain to feed this plant during the summer months. It needs fertilizer in order to encourage maximum growth. Best of luck to all!
So having it in a window would t be enough light then ?? I'm thinking about getting one , but I'm new, and getting grow lights just isn't a thing for me to consider just yet or at all. Not sure yet.
Yes! But I don’t think they need as much sun & I water a liiiittle more often than for the rope. On the Princess it’s much easier to feel when the base leaves are getting soft & that’s usually when I decide to water
I have a tiny Hindu rope Hoya and it is growing! But several of the new leaves turned yellow and dropped off. I don’t know what happened, there aren’t any pests.
My Hindu Rope is over 50 years old. I fear I overwatered it and it looks like areas are dead. Is there any chance of it surviving if I take it out of the pot and repot after trying to clean the roots?
How long does Hoya take to firm up after watering? I bought a cutting and watered it for the first time about three days ago and the bottom leaves are still wrinkly :/
I want to get this plant but... I don’t know if north facing floor to ceiling dbl. sliding glass doors will give enough light. I do have other Hoyas and they seem to be doing well but I haven’t had them very long.
Ya you can keep it there, but put it closer to the window. I had one of my cuttings sitting right on the ledge of my north facing window. It grew muchhhhhh slower than the one I keep outside, but it did just fine 😌
I have a HUGE India rope I've had for ten years in the same West facing window. Some branches are 4 feet long. It's in a 10 inch clay pot in Miracle Grow soil all it's life. All of a sudden it's wilting!! I always let it dry out between waterings. It is amazing. But now I'm afraid I'm going to lose it 😢 I live in Wisconsin and we have had a terrible hot summer with drought. No yellow leaves, yet. But, it's wilting!!! Please - HELP!! What can I do?? No mealey bugs either. I love this plant, tho it has never bloomed in 10 years. I will be heartbroken if I can't save her. 🤷 Suggestions???
Thank you Erica. That was my next move, though I'm so afraid to repot it. I will need help to get it out of the pot carefully. Pot is actually 12 inches across. Wish me luck! 😊
I LOVE this plant, but I seem to be doing something wrong. I've watched your video and thought I was doing everything right. My Rope's leaves always eventually look withered, fall off and the plant dies... HELP 🆘!!
So I got some webby type of infestation on mine. It takes work to try to clean it up and free it from all that webby residue. How does someone treat this infestation? Anybody?

Lol yes, so I had to break out the alcohol and Q tips, so glad the trails aren’t that long so grateful it’s a slow grower. Love your videos, I watched almost all😝
Ok so you’re on the West Coast, I am on the East Coast, and leaving it outside past Summer would probably kill this plant. I have mind in a West facing window. Considering a macramé to hang it. Which it seems to like.
I had one and it died , bought another and again died on me , bought a 3rd nope again died so no more for me. I followed everyone’s advice and no luck for me.
you look so radiant and beautiful like if spring was a person🌼

Oop maybe I should give a try then 😗 spraying on the tips doesn’t sound too scary
What fertilizer did you use?
@@aleialaw It's called the Miracle Gro ready to use orchid plant food mist

Your phone is spying on you. Don't worry about it mine spies on me too, not a big deal. ☺
Your video just made me feel so much better about having this plant.
You are such a great plant mom! My Hindu Rope is my very favorite house plant. It bloomed this year, and I gasped! haha. Yours is beautiful!
that is so exciting! mine still hasn’t bloomed yet so it’s my ultimate goal :’)
Thank you for the tips. I just added this plant to my collection. I can't wait for it to get as long as yours. Fingers crossed.
It’ll be there in no time 😌
i want a hindu rope so bad!! yours looks so amazing!!🤩🤩

Yes! But I don’t think they need as much sun & I water a liiiittle more often than for the rope. On the Princess it’s much easier to feel when the base leaves are getting soft & that’s usually when I decide to water
Unrelated to the video, BUT where did you buy your top? It looks so cute😊
Wow thank you! I got it at goodwill but it’s from J.Jill
Can you explain how old the plants are when showing so we have an idea?
Question 😇 how do you know went to water? Do you water when a few leaves look wrinkly or when a lot look wrinkly? 🙃
Whenever the base leaves get wrinkly! So not too many of them. If the leaves get wrinkly moving down the stem water asap
Hey Erika! Any updates on your albo? 😁
Thanks for this!
I like using ebsom salts, eggshells on my plants.
My Compacta doing amazing for a long time...now leaves are mushy... Falling off???
Did I accidentally overwater? Can it be saved?

Maybe it needs to be repotted? It could be root bound so it needs to be watered more often than before & that’s why it’s wilted. That’s my best guess
