I met the Who in the Marquee Club, Wardour Street, London. I was awestruck by their energy and power even though their instruments were so rough and the PA borrowed. Keith Moon was hilarious and very kind to Phil Collins who was only about 14 at the time. Those were the days....

This interview as a story of someone who had to endure hardship, and later an acknowledgement of good fortune, in addition to Roger's singing, plus Pete's writing, playing and singing, plus Entwhistle's playing, singing and writing, plus Moon's playing gives you an idea why The Who is one of the most beloved musical forces of all time
The best interview I have ever seen on Roger. Very open and honest. The Who still remains as the greatest Rock band ever. Roger is still the best looking Rocker of the 60’s. He looks and sounds amazing. Long Live Rock!

What an amazing character Roger is! Not only one of the best Rock lead vocalists of ALL time, but a man, who through his work on teenage cancer, is giving true value to society. How he hasn't been knighted by now is beyond me! Look at the other British musicians who have been knighted and they pale in comparison in terms of 'actual' achievements.

Just watched a recent interview (2012) with Townsend about his book, and I'm struck by how different these two men are in terms of their approach to music and the band. Pete is so esoteric and artsy, while Daltrey seems to feel his influences were born of the working class - a 'get her done' attitude. Amazing they lasted together so long - I suppose opposites do attract.

I've seen them over a dozen times and they get better and better - even without John. I've also seen roger do Tommy. It was excellent. The last time I saw them was 2016 and he sounded great. Wow, I've been a fan of The Who for 50 years but never knew all this stuff about their history. It's so great to learn and hear it from one of my long time idols Roger Daltrey who I admired for his voice and also his ability to twirl that mic and toss it so high then catch it on the way down. Never once missing or hitting someone else! haha. I was blessed to have seen the whole band with Keith still there I think it was 1972, no 1971 I checked, at Forest Hills Stadium on July 31 which was 2 days after my birthday, my GF bought the tickets and surprised me that same night while we were having dinner in NYC which was the ruse to get us into the city. Best front man for The best live band. Thier performance at Woodstock is one of the best in Rock history.
Pure Legend. Also likable and down-to-Earth.
The the very best singer in Rock music even in his 70s
WHAT A INTERVIEW LOVED YOU SINCE I SAW YOU AT LEEDS POLLY ALL THEM YEARS AGO
HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN BEFORE IM TO OLD
You were at Live At Leeds? Fuck!
He's a really intelligent and amusing bloke.
I met Doug Sandom once, original drummer for The Who. They still loved having him come around, and he's glad people still know who he is/was. Cool guy.
Nice! Is he still alive?
@@fernandomaron87 I think he's passed away now.
Whos Next and quadraphoenia were the sum of my youth , thanks
My first impression was "sheesh not ANOTHER interview by someone who doesn't know their history nor appreciate their music". But Judd did a great job and brought out Roger's story very well. Thank you@
Right on
Roger is frickin hilarious! I was eating as I watched this and I was spitting food all over the place!
Great stuff. What a band, and what a story.
top class geezer, could listen to him talk all day.
I was just a poor college kid at the time. What a surprise though! I loved the Who before that but even more after. I have to say Quadraphenia is one of my all time favs of theirs. So great to see this interview and done by Judd Apatow!
What a Wonderful human being 🙏
Love it A very underrated Man and a great Actor
Roger is such a great guy. Wonderful things he has done for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
