I like Newhart so much - loved both his famous shows and yes his commitment to his wife and family was so admirable. I did think his friendship with Rickles was confusing until you see the love they have for one an other. He's 94 now and I am so pleased he has lived a wonderful life - so deserved.
This is the best film Judd Apatow has ever made.
20:48 Comedians like Newhart and Rickles should be eligible as nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize. You can't fight someone else if you're both laughing along with great comedy. I'm 66 and I've laughed for half a century with these two great men.

Watching this, shows how you can have lifetime friendship with people who are opposite of your nature. Rest in Peace to all four.
Entertainer personas very different + off-screen human natures exactly the same = lifetime friendship.

I was already tearing up as the documentary progressed but when Don Rickles sang at the end I started bawling. I am so grateful for the humor that Don Rickles brought to my life and the humanity dignity respect and love that he promoted as a human being.

I used to stay up and watch Carson with Rickles. It was fantastic and still makes me laugh. This is a wonderful documentary.

I've watched this twice in 2 days, their friendship is exactly the same as my dad and my godfather. They are both in heaven now and life isn't quite as funny or as colorful without them. A wonderful film. Thank you very much for posting this.
Two great comedians, two very different styles. Newhart was a class act. Rickles was a wonderful insult comedian, and celebs would feel insulted if he DID NOT go after them. He made us laugh at ourselves. We need another Rickles again, we’ve forgotten how to laugh.

We went to see Don on Long Island back in the day. I went with my friend who was black (last I heard he still is) . He really really really wanted to be the target that night. He got his wish. Rickles was hilarious.
What a treasure these guys were.

I grew up in Argentina, have lived in the USA longer than my birth country, but as a believer in family and friendship I have adored these four for ever! Example of how humanity should treat one another! ❤ bless them!
I had the pleasure of seeing Don in Las Vegas. He would send a bottle of champagne to whoever he made fun of. You could tell he had a heart of gold.
I always felt bad for Don and his wife when they lost their son Larry - no parent should outlive their children - RIP
I always thought that, and now I know. Decades on it brings me to tears.
I'm in England. We never had Don's shows here, or the roasts, but he did appear on TV on the very odd occasions. Bob's series was shown here, and I never missed an episode. When the internet happened he was one of the first Comedians I looked for. Incredibly clever and funny.
This made me feel far better than OK to be a Boomer. Thank you for telling a beautiful story.❤

I was blessed to have 4 close friends for over 50 years, they are gone now but I understand the closeness of The Rickles and Newhart's.
I was the associate director on Don’s sitcom “ Daddy Dearest” . Without a doubt he was one of the sweetest people I’ve known.

It's nice to see friendship celebrated. There are so many films, long and short, about romantic love, that by comparison, friendship, which is also a very important kind of love, often seems to be overlooked. It shouldn't be, especially considering how enduring and long-lasting some friendships are.
In such hate filled times its refreshing and live affirming to hear of their friendship. We used to see the best in each other now we want to see the worse.

I’d forgotten about their friendship. Pair of geniuses. My parents owned the first Newhart and I think Driving Instructor was one of the earliest external influences on my own sense of humour. What a beautiful piece of film.

I'm going to cry". wow... that was so beautifully moving that sums up a beautiful, full and fulfilled life. it's sad but I know it shouldn't be, this documentary is one of the most moving things one of the best friendship pieces I've seen in my whole life and it shows you the value of friendship of love of camaraderie, but also life's journey all journeys come to an end and that's the part that sucks of getting older but the constellation prize is for the blessed individuals that have full lives beautiful friendships and wonderful memories thanks Judd.
All 4 of them will be dearly remembered for years to come. Such a touching tribute to true friendship. Thank you, Mr Apatow.

this was great. Newhart was always one of my favorites. If there was to be a Mt Rushmore of stand-ups a solid case could be made that he would be on there.
