To be clear about what this shutdown does and what it means. The Xbox 360 store is shutting down. Games that are backwards compatible on 8th gen Xbox One and 9th gen Xbox Series consoles will still be sold on those systems as part of the backwards compatibility program. Previously purchased games/dlc that you already own are NOT going away. You will still have access to your purchase history abd be able to redownload them. What this means in terms of the loss: Games that were only sold on the 360 marketplace will be gone, and no more purchases done on the system.
Be mindful though that the backwards compatible games are not always the full versions and can lack access to DLC or other features of the original 360 version. Make your research to be sure what you are missing if you go for the gen 8 or 9 ports!
The problem is, even if a game IS backwards-compatible you may not be able to purchase it on a 8th gen or a 9th gen console. I tried to buy Jet Set Radio on Xbox One S but I only succeeded with the help of my friend with an Xbox 360 who had logged into my account and did the purchase.
If you have a Kinect, you really need to pick up Fruit Ninja before it disappears. It's approximately one billion times better than the iPad version, and I'm pretty sure it's digital only. It's a great party game. A blast to watch people play, and there's a 2 player mode.

I wouldn't suggest folks wait on buying any of these games their interested in or other 360 XBLA games stuck on the 360 because other online shop closures have shown certain publishers have pulled their games down early.
As far as games that aren't backward compatible go, my top recommendations would be: Assault Heroes (twin-stick) Black Knight Sword (combat platformer) Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst (shmup) Charlie Murder (beat-'em-up) Renegade Ops (twin-stick) The Bridge (puzzle) Thankfully most of the really great games are already back-compat so you don't have to worry about them being taken down quite yet. 1:58 You don't have to buy the Backwards compatible xbox 360 games to preserve them on the newer consoles. They will still be available on the Microsoft Store. So this shut down really only matters to people that want to continue playing non backwards compatible games on their xbox 360
Out of all the consoles I own: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Switch, DS Lite, 3DS XL, Genesis, Segs CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, 32X, PS1, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, the Xbox 360 is my all time favorite console because it had so many games I enjoyed. 181 games is what I ended up with on it. Plus I really like the controller.
Very, very surprised Hydro Thunder Hurricane was not on here. As far as I know, you can only get it on the 360 Marketplace and it is SUCH a good racing game!
It's backwards compatible so is available on the Xbox One and Series stores. It was also released for Windows, so can be bought via the Microsoft Store if you'd prefer PC.
Indeed. :) Thankfully it will still be available for purchase after the store closure since they have it on the newer Xbox system stores with backwards compatibility.
Stoked you included Guardian Heroes. One of my all time favourites. However you didn't mention some of the best elements, such as being able to level up your abilities and magic, and the game having multiple paths and endings.
What sucks about these titles is once your hardrive fails they are gone forever. I had one fail and I lost a ton of titles because the license ran out and were unable to be downloaded again.
However the ones you bought that are playable on the Xbox one and series x can be redownloaded from the store on those systems if you bought them and downloaded to your 360 first
The best digital only game I ever bought on 360 marketplace was The Warriors Street Brawl. It was a super challenging beat 'em up that I thought was better than the Rockstar Warriors game
Iron Brigade is a cool tower defense game where you pilot a customizable mech. Neat story and it was made by Double Fine! Microbot is pretty neat too, you control a microscopic ship and go into someone's blood stream to kill an infection.
I was already buying some this week. I have a lot on 360 though. I am only picking titles that don't run on Xbox One/Series as these will remain anyway. But seeing which I still want to add. Interested which ones you picked.
Or simply, just modify your system. - After all, from my experience with the PS3 online store and customer service, they couldn't care less about the store now.
@@Rabbitlord108 The Xbox 360 E, had to two motherboard revisions. The early release models used the Corona boards which are the same as the S and moddable. While later revisions used the Winchester board. There are way more Corona revision Xbox's out there then Winchester. and picking up a S is very easy and inexpensive.
Don't know if anybody mentioned it yet, but the Alien Breed games have local coop. In EU-Territories each game is around 4,-€. Bought them all. Thanks for the hint, Mr. MetalJesus.
Hooray for more Tengo Project developer fans. :) Luckily Omega Five won’t be affected by the closure since you can still buy it on the Xbox One/Series storefront and play it thanks to backwards compatibility.
There was a game that I've always felt was a precursor to Trials. I don't know the name but it was on PC. I played it around 2002/2003. It was 2d, you were a bike with no rider, and you had to collect apples along the tricky courses. Some times you might need to do a trick like have your front wheel hook up on a platform but the rest of the bike is hanging under it so you can get the apples. It was fun.
The following are the ones you WON'T be able to get on Xbox One: Fusion: Genesis, Alien Breed 3: Descent, Thunder Wolves, and Mad Riders. The rest will still be available via backwards compatibility (and usually with better resolution and FPS)
Agreed overall but just remember that despite the better resolution/FPS that there’s usually an extra frame of input lag. For me the extra resolution is usually worth it but for others that are more sensitive to input lag, it might be an issue.
Great video! This reminded me to be on the ready before it closes. This is definitely gonna give the 360 more of a retro appeal. Almost 20 years! No more storefront, now you gotta get physical.
Yes. There’s a site called DelistedGames that has many of them and FromTheVoid is a channel that’s trying to catalog the games and DLC affected (they did a really comprehensive job for the Wii U and 3DS closures).
Be mindful though that the digital games that you can buy that Are backwards compatible do come in different versions as well. And sometimes the backwards compatible version is lacking some or even any compatibility to DLCs! So do your research before otherwise you have a version that runs on Gen 8 or 9 but lacks half the game's content!

@@Lostcontroller fell free to go check it yourself they are already delisting games from the store and you can see some games are listed in backwards compatible download version and 360 version so it is clearly visible. I suppose they want to play it the way it sounds like they don't take away anything. *But what they are doing is they keep "core" versions of the 360 games for download in the store to download on XBO and series. But those versions are emulated and will not necessarily run on the 360 itself or they are stripped down versions!* An example of that is Banjo Kazooie nuts & bolts. There are two versions in the store right now. One standalone for 360 which comes with a DLC for "LOGs challenges " that version does not run on Later gen consoles! And a version that was included in the rare replay collection. That one is the backwards compatible catalog game. It does run on 360 but it does not work with the DLC from the other version.
Cool Video, you should do a follow up that does highlight ones that got a physical release, but are creeping up in price. Because they will most certainly go up even more once the store is down, so getting them digitally may be the way to go for some of us.
But in those cases, since there are licences with real world car dealers, they can't just sell these games or make them Backwards Compatible because of all the legal hassle
PGR2-4 are some of the reasons I keep my 360 hooked up. For Horizon 2 and 3, at least you can still buy the used copies for Xbox One and Series X - that’s how I got my copies and played them. For Horizon 2 I have both the 360 and Xbox One version and while there’s way less stuff in the 360 version, for some reason I usually like playing it more. I think it has to do with the driver AI. :)
@@alpha34098 Yep, most sports games are often double whammied. First by having to license things relevant to their sport (like car brands, sports league agreements, people's likeness, etc.) and second by very often adding licensed musics on top of it. To bring back old Forza Horizon games, Playground Games would have to renew licenses with car brands, third party parts makers (rims for exemple), various participating brands (like all the sponsors in the first game) and each of their radio songs. Old Forza Motorsport games would also have to renew contracts with all real racing tracks used in their games (and hope they agree to push previous versions of the tracks and previous names without asking for in game change). And then there's the hastle for finding current legal representatives for brands that may no longer exists or have changed owners (who might also not be interested in advertising old products anyway).
Day after I saw this video I found a physical copy of trials, limbo, splosion man that you featured for $20 at my local resell store. Can’t stop playing trials now 😵💫

Glad you touched on the physical problem, but I just said yesterday you haven’t jumped on the 360 videos in this past month that have been raising prices on games that came out on multiple platforms
The biggest omission in this list: No mention of Renegade Ops, the closest we have to a modern day Desert/Jungle/Urban strike game..and it isn't even backward compatible..
As many console generations I have lived through.. the Xbox 360 is absolutely my favorite console. They tried so many unique things, a nice mix of new and old. They did try and preserve some classics of that time. Oh, and surprised you never mentioned it, but shoutout to Summer of Arcade on the 360. Charlie Murder and The Dishwasher get a shoutout from me too.
@@MetalJesusRocksIn fact, there are a good amount of games that could be better buy them there digital, even if they have physical editions, like the Fist of the North Star ones, Enslaved, The Chronicles of Riddick, some of Star Wars... Mad Riders is not available there now to buy.
Great topic, thanks. Renegade Ops is on PS3, 360 and PC. It's a top-down vehicular combat action game developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Sega. It's not backwards compatible so you should buy it while you can or get it on PC.
Na. If anything happens to the 360 HDD, those paid-for digital-only games are gone for good. No way to back them up. The only way to hold onto any digital file is to have a stand-alone copy of it. That requires a modded console. At that point you might as well also download every digital release - it doesn't take too long. I've got a backup of "everything" (just in case).
@@Beaut_Beau Good luck with that. Over the past 10 years they've already failed a lot of people in re-downloading lost content. And they have a track record of making these things disappear for old systems, like OG XBOX. Same has already happened with Sony and Nintendo, so not surprising in the least.
@@espressomatic@beaut_beau I can’t speak for others that had issues but I can tell you that I’m on my third Xbox 360 (one of which stopped reading physical media in 2021 or 2022) and a Series X, with both American and Japanese accounts and Microsoft has made sure that I have access to every one of my purchases I have ever made. Earlier this year I had issues with the 360 store once and their techs sorted it out for me right away on chat. Having had to do IT since the 90s on both Apple and Microsoft systems, it’s difficult to properly express the magnitude of the gulf between them in regards to preserving backwards compatibility. I can’t tell you how many times I had audio tech. clients stop being able to use certain plug-ins in their DAW after a Quicktime update, even on the same OS versions. Meanwhile, on my Windows system I am still running 20+ year old audio plug-ins alongside my new ones without difficulty. And don’t get me started on when Apple discontinued support for Rosetta 1 and clients couldn’t use their old audio software on the new computer. Or when my iPhone updated to a new version of iOS and didn’t warn me that I’d lose access to my 32-bit purchases (like The Longest Journey) after the update. To be clear, I am not saying that no one has valid issues with Microsoft. I am just saying that out of Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and Apple, that my personal experience with legacy support has been far better with Microsoft than the others. Nintendo doesn’t even pretend to offer that re-download option post-closure.
@@MetalJesusRocks it is delisted, you can no longer buy it, I just checked the web version of the xbox marketplace, no purchase button. You can only check/see the 7 pictures and the online manual.

Back when the xbox brand had personality! The 360 was so awesome back in the first few years. Xbox live felt like a real community. XBLA had some of the most fun games available on the platform. Uno, 1 v 100 live shows, Hexic, Splosion Man, Trials, Shadow Complex, etc. Then there was avatars, game rewards for avatars (I miss my little animated Meatboy!) and now they make it near impossible to find anyone's profile. Loved back then when the brand was run by gamers, before it was absorbed into MS and got taken over my tupperware salesemen.
@@docc19Also, some players are more sensitive to input latency. Personally I’m usually happy playing BC games on my Series X but I know a lot of competitive shmup players are frustrated by the extra frame of latency playing for example Ikaruga on One/Series vs. playing it on 360.

Controller is amazing and Ive always hated Xbox since almost all games ends up on Windows for PC with better specs.
Guardian heroes is an awesome game, highly recommended! I still play it on my Saturn
I just checked and thankfully it is still available digitally on the new xbox consoles
I will definitely be picking up Hydro Thunder Hurricane.
Good choice!
You won’t be disappointed - it’s so much fun. :)
Very, very surprised Hydro Thunder Hurricane was not on here. As far as I know, you can only get it on the 360 Marketplace and it is SUCH a good racing game!
Next video for sho 👍
@@MetalJesusRocks you’re the man, man! Love the videos - always gets me back into collecting and playing new games!
It's backwards compatible so is available on the Xbox One and Series stores. It was also released for Windows, so can be bought via the Microsoft Store if you'd prefer PC.
Never heard of alien breed, just downloaded the trilogy on ps3 and am loving it , thanks for the recommendation!
Guardian Heros. Do yourself a service and buy/play this Treasure gem if you have not. TONS of charm and replayability plus amazing combat/magic.
Indeed. :) Thankfully it will still be available for purchase after the store closure since they have it on the newer Xbox system stores with backwards compatibility.
Thanks for highlighting Fusion: Genesis! It was not on my radar, and sounds like something I'd enjoy.
Also put Gatling Gears, Ms. Splosion Man and Thunder Wolves on wishlists on other platforms.
Omg fusion genesis looks just like Armada for the dreamcast!!! Cant believe I missed this one
I came here to say the same thing!! Even down to the visuals, way you move and ship shields
Was this the same people?
Stoked you included Guardian Heroes. One of my all time favourites. However you didn't mention some of the best elements, such as being able to level up your abilities and magic, and the game having multiple paths and endings.
What sucks about these titles is once your hardrive fails they are gone forever. I had one fail and I lost a ton of titles because the license ran out and were unable to be downloaded again.
Guess we gotta play everything before that happens
However the ones you bought that are playable on the Xbox one and series x can be redownloaded from the store on those systems if you bought them and downloaded to your 360 first
thats why majority of these games are dumped and preserved on websites
fusion genesis is great, i actually bought a xbox 360 recently just to make sure i can download this game before the store closes
The best digital only game I ever bought on 360 marketplace was The Warriors Street Brawl. It was a super challenging beat 'em up that I thought was better than the Rockstar Warriors game
wooo so happy you made this! was legit waiting for a video like this!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Iron Brigade is a cool tower defense game where you pilot a customizable mech. Neat story and it was made by Double Fine!
Microbot is pretty neat too, you control a microscopic ship and go into someone's blood stream to kill an infection.
Iron Brigade was a free Games with Gold at least once so many people may already have it / have forgotten they have it.
Microbot is available on ps3 also
This definitely deserves to be a series! I bought 2 500g hard drives and am just going mad archiving
The end of Rock Band's store too.
Yep! I saw all those songs I paid for and need to re-download to make sure I have backed up.
@@MetalJesusRocks I am devastated simply devastated

Glad you enjoyed it!
I was already buying some this week. I have a lot on 360 though. I am only picking titles that don't run on Xbox One/Series as these will remain anyway. But seeing which I still want to add. Interested which ones you picked.
Countless hours on Trials HD. That game is such a blast.
Or simply, just modify your system. - After all, from my experience with the PS3 online store and customer service, they couldn't care less about the store now.
Sadly you CAN'T mod the last Xbox 360 version.
@@Rabbitlord108 Does it matter? There are hardly any E Winchester boards around anyway. Sell it for $20 and buy a Slim Corona for $20. Problem solved.

Yea true but it requires soldering which not everyone has the knowledge
Don't know if anybody mentioned it yet, but the Alien Breed games have local coop. In EU-Territories each game is around 4,-€. Bought them all.
Thanks for the hint, Mr. MetalJesus.
That’s good to know I’ll play them with a friend thanks
Have you played Omega Five? It's a really cool side-scrolling shooter that's a digital exclusive too. I recommend it!
Hooray for more Tengo Project developer fans. :) Luckily Omega Five won’t be affected by the closure since you can still buy it on the Xbox One/Series storefront and play it thanks to backwards compatibility.
Thanks so much for making this, solid recommendations It's so important to preserve what we can and enjoy these great games.
Glad you enjoyed!
Split/Second is missing on this list. If you love Burnout, that X360 game is a must have and must play.
Its amazing and blur is not backwards compatible
This is about the store, not stuff that was physically released.
@@JustinCardiff ok thanks
You can still but Split/Second on the Xbox One/Series store after the 360 store closure thanks to BC.
Thunder Wolves and Scrap Metal look awesome. I will definitely pick them up. Great video MJR!
Thanks for watching!
Castlevania SOTN on arcade is probably a good idea to pick up.
It's also on the 8th and 9th gen. Sometimes the PlayStation Store has sales on the bundles or collections of Castlevania.
That one is available on a lot of consoles though
There was a game that I've always felt was a precursor to Trials. I don't know the name but it was on PC. I played it around 2002/2003. It was 2d, you were a bike with no rider, and you had to collect apples along the tricky courses. Some times you might need to do a trick like have your front wheel hook up on a platform but the rest of the bike is hanging under it so you can get the apples. It was fun.
Tons of old online flash games that were exactly like trials which is y i didnt bother with it much
The following are the ones you WON'T be able to get on Xbox One: Fusion: Genesis, Alien Breed 3: Descent, Thunder Wolves, and Mad Riders. The rest will still be available via backwards compatibility (and usually with better resolution and FPS)
I tried to mix it up so there was something for everybody. 👍
Agreed overall but just remember that despite the better resolution/FPS that there’s usually an extra frame of input lag. For me the extra resolution is usually worth it but for others that are more sensitive to input lag, it might be an issue.
Most of those will still most likely be available on ps3 store however
@@Gawlakman Yes! Also, Mad Riders is delisted everywhere
Great video! This reminded me to be on the ready before it closes. This is definitely gonna give the 360 more of a retro appeal. Almost 20 years! No more storefront, now you gotta get physical.
Alien Breed Trilogy is available on physical in the UK. I used to have it.
Thanks for the recommendations. Is there a more comprehensive list of 360 store exclusives?
Yes. There’s a site called DelistedGames that has many of them and FromTheVoid is a channel that’s trying to catalog the games and DLC affected (they did a really comprehensive job for the Wii U and 3DS closures).
Backwards compatible games aren't being removed from the Xbox stores, just the ones that aren't
Here are the ones NOT backward compatible: Fusion: Genesis, Alien Breed 3: Descent, Thunder Wolves, and Mad Riders
@@overlordalfredoAccording to Microsoft, all the BC games will still be purchasable and are able to download them to an Xbox 360 if you wish.
@@chachaprince111 Just being through my steam and Xbox library. The only 2 games listed here I don't have are Guardian Heroes and Fusion: Genesis. I would add Vigilante 8 Arcade, Alien Hominid and Bangi-O HD Missile Fury
But those versions are emulated and will not necessarily run on the 360 itself or they are stripped down versions!*
An example of that is Banjo Kazooie nuts & bolts.
Ps3 is bound to follow soon.
The bricks for the house of piracy stacks higher each day.
Going from a shack to a mansion 😀
Forza 3, Forza Horizon 2, and PGR 4 should be in the store for the Series S/X. I miss those games; they are much better than the new ones.
Can’t stop playing trials now 😵💫
I just got that one recently too off eBay, paid more than $20 though nice find
I HAD NO IDEAL GUN STAR HEROES WAS ON THE XBOX 360
It's sad to see the 360 store closing, hopefully the new Xbox backwards compatible team preserve as many OG, 360, XBO games as possible for the future.
I’m more worried about the games that aren’t playable on the Xbox one those are the games you can’t buy after July 29 the games your talking about aren’t leaving anywhere
Maybe do another video on games and dlc that are only available on the 360 store and nowhere else
Please do a part 2!
Glad you touched on the physical problem, but I just said yesterday you haven’t jumped on the 360 videos in this past month that have been raising prices on games that came out on multiple platforms

As of today I've heard rumblings that xbox is doing a huge sale on the xbox 360 for these games!! 😀😀
It's about only 60 games for us in the USA. Supposedly, it's less if you live in the UK
The biggest omission in this list: No mention of Renegade Ops, the closest we have to a modern day Desert/Jungle/Urban strike game..and it isn't even backward compatible..
I got Daytona USA to play on my 360 and Séries X ❤🎉
Could you do a video of must have/highly recommended DLCs?
Pat yourself on the back if you got a lot of these games already on disc! Physical media retro game collectors rejoice!
The only game that is physical is Trials HD, correct?
@MetalJesusRocks the Alien one got a physical in the UK.
Just picked up Guardian Heroes and also going to purchases Gatling Gears. Thank you for the recommendations!
Ms. Splosion Man is backwards compatible with Xbox One, so is one we don't have to worry about. Nights Into Dremas too.

Cool down your credit card and warm up your soldering iron. These games are archived. Play them on an RGH.
@@halotroop2288 or emulation on pc
Microsoft has clearly stated they can be redownloaded, they wont just vanish if your hard drive dies, they are attached to your microsoft account.
Yes! Thanks for doing this MJR! 👍🏻 I agree they should drop all the prices as a thank you to everyone.
Yeah big corporate companies will never do anything like that
360 was peak videogame history, I play my Series X with a Hyperkin Xbox 360 controller for nostalgia. RIP 2005-2024

Loved back then when the brand was run by gamers, before it was absorbed into MS and got taken over my tupperware salesemen.
a lot of these games are BC and BC games will remain on the store

Here are the ones NOT backward compatible: Fusion: Genesis, Alien Breed 3: Descent, Thunder Wolves, and Mad Riders
