hey dude I just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos. I think you are awesome and a very humble person who is down to earth. oh and your home brew stuff is super cool!
23:25 Damn, that really sounds like The Genius!! I played that game every day.. Loved it! When Royal Rumble came out, it was over for me. We played it all day long!
It still feels "next gen" to me, somehow. I guess I was just at the right age at that time; I've got zero interest in any video game after the 16 bit console/MS DOS era.
F-Zero I always thought the F stands for Formula 0. Basically a play on the Formula 1 racing and Formula 2 and so on. Because Formula 1 is the highest class in racing of today, F-0 means its higher than that (we programmers also start counting at 0).
HyperZone is surprisingly fun. I have the SFC version and have enjoyed mashing around on it for a half an hour before I move on to something else. Great video.
Captain America and The Avengers is not just a rental, it's worth owning. A top tier superhero game for me. 1994's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is one of my favorite beat-em ups.
Batman Returns, Bram Stokers Dracula, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Super Street Fighter 2 turbo ,Mortal Kombat 2, Super Mario World were the games me and my brother got for Christmas along with our SNES in 1993
John, I played the hell out of Populous. I only had four games at the time and I finished the other three multiple times so learning Populous was a necessity. To this day, I will still check out and at least try any version of it I find and I still list it as one of my all time favorites.
The Batman game at the 53 minute mark i was just playing last night I'm 41 and after all these years I can still sit and play that it's a good stress reliever 😊
Populous!!! I was absolutely addicted to Populous! There were something like 989 levels, and I may have played them all. There was just something about watching your tribe grow while trying to mess with the enemy tribe, and there were so many options on any given level…. Ten different landscapes, ten different types of people and numerous ‘god-like’ powers at your disposal. Because the types of people and landscapes had different strengths and weaknesses, there were so many different combinations for the game to create. Combining that with the variable of which god powers you had access to depending on the level, made for some very challenging levels and the variety kept me playing over and over again.
I thought the snes controller was a bit busy for me back when it dropped, but I adapted quickly and became a wiz at stuff I can barely play now like killer instinct with its extremely long combo styles etc... Good times.
@@ObjectiveEthics I re-purchased the strategy guide a while back, it's amazing how nearly infinite the list of combos etc were. Friggin shadow c-c-c-combo breakers? Most people would play well and never know it's a real thing! Orchid cinder and spinal were super easy to play, but for style and tech I loved fulgore and glacius. Damn, now I wanna go play, see ya! ;-)
Great list, however, you left out two classics: The Addam's Family (A platformer published by Ocean and released in 1992.) The game is easily one of my favorite Snes games of all time. You basically go around exploring the Addam's family mansion as Gomez and rescue your family members. Its a very open ended style of game and you can play the various levels in any order you like. The other game I wish you had on your list is "Lufia and the Fortress of Doom". Released in 1993, its a classic rpg with big colorful sprites and a great storyline.
snes is the goat. my fav dreams as a kid was accumulating as many snes games as i could, snes games were my entire life until around middle school. waking up from those dreams was a nightmare. low and behold, i sold all my games and console when discovering emulators and roms....too bad, wish i hadnt. snes will always be the best.
7:48 I loved the SNES version. I played it in the arcade by myself a lot, lol 😅 with the SNES port for graphically it match the arcade minus frames of animations and colors being a duller. Growing up, I love my beat em ups but I was a loner, 😅!!
I love UN Squadron. I've had it and played since i was in high school when it came out. that one, and E.D.F. (Super Famicon cart). some how I got a SFAM copy in the early 90's by living in a small town south of Houston, Tx
If you beat the lost levels without warping you go to stage A-1 all the way to D-4 if I remember correctly. I remember making it to A-1 one day when I was home sick from school one day. XD
I got a question? I bought a authentic crystalis cart. It won't play not even give a flicker purple screen graphical scramble nothing. I opened it up everything looks fine I cleaned it several times. Still nothing. Any advice on how to make it work? I know your very knowledgeable in these things.
UN Squadron is in my top 10 videos games of ALL TIME. I really wish they'd make another arcade style side scroller sequel to the game on the Nintendo Switch. C'mon Nintendo !!
Final Fantasy 2 US is the reason we got an SNES. It and 3 fight for my top FF game of all time. Right now I like 3 slightly more because it did have more substance. 2 is a little linear.
I remembered The Rocketeer movie being a flop, but I had to Google specifics. Looks like it opened at #4 in the US box office, and only grossed $46.6M in theaters. Oof.
Wouldn't mind getting a copy of Axelay, but it's pretty expensive (same with R-Type III). Even the Super Famicom versions are expensive. Well, at least I got Gradius III!
Strangely, it's always bothered me how the SNES Konami logo sounds so shrill compared to how high quality it sounds on the Genesis. You'd think it'd be the other way around right?
I know from watching your a wrestling fan, if you remember early WCW and Brad Armstrong. You hair reminds me of Brad Armstrong. He was a great wrestler.
I upgraded to the SNES shortly after somebody stole my NES and games. Then I discovered PC gaming around '95 and didnt console game again minus a stint with a Wii.
There are great games on the SNES and I recently played though all of the original final fantasy they are timeless classics and I've beat all of the original Zelda's.
1) You're unlocking ALL the nostalgia! There are some DEEP cuts here! 2) Longform videos like this really need chapters by year (at least) 3) Hate to be pedantic, but you seem to have missed World Heroes 2 in 1994, the extra modes/options were dope 4) I will fight a motherfucker in the street who denies that Super Mario World has the best Mario soundtrack; the original theme is even in the secret area
It's actually FRICK, ANOTHER COMMENT DEBATING FORMULA OR FRICTION OR FEBREEZE OR FORD OR FUNTASTIC OR RESPECT IN CHAT. I myself think the F is for Flipper. 🐬
You wanna know the reason why THQ games felt like LJN games. When LJN was bought out by Akklaim, shortly after that the director of LJN left and split from Akklaim/LJN and actually started THQ. So that's the reason THQ during that period felt like you were playing LJN games, because the man behind those horrible LJN games was the Founder of THQ lol.
As somebody already said , the F stands for formula . In racing they have different skill levels of Formula racing . Starting at F4 I believe , up to the top tier F1 . F Zero would be a step better than the best we have .

SEGA Genesis 1989 - 1998 ua-cam.com/video/8ncUfKjntwI/v-deo.html
Holy Crap, I always thought 7th Saga was a release window game for the SNES, not 93...
You're like an old friend and all we do is talk about video games.
The F in F-Zero stands for Formula, it says in the manual that it was inspired by Formula-1 or F-1 and so it named it F-Zero.
I thought it was F for Ferocious 😮
Love that you paired these altogether for an awesome 90s SNES video
hey dude I just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos. I think you are awesome and a very humble person who is down to earth. oh and your home brew stuff is super cool!
Thank you for making this. Allows me to have something playing in the background while I grind. Super grateful
The F in F-zero is formula in reference to Formula 1 aka F-1
F stands for fun
F is for friends who do stuff together

I love when Riggs puts the videos into one long video😎
This was a great video. Tons of memories from those days. The nostalgia!
This video is a tour-de-force for the SNES. Thank you for making it.
23:25 Damn, that really sounds like The Genius!! I played that game every day.. Loved it! When Royal Rumble came out, it was over for me. We played it all day long!
The Super NES era was magical and felt so ‘next-gen.’
It still feels "next gen" to me, somehow. I guess I was just at the right age at that time; I've got zero interest in any video game after the 16 bit console/MS DOS era.
SNES was so cool, to this day I feel like it's the most superior gaming console to day..
F-Zero
I always thought the F stands for Formula 0. Basically a play on the Formula 1 racing and Formula 2 and so on. Because Formula 1 is the highest class in racing of today, F-0 means its higher than that (we programmers also start counting at 0).

Very good informative video Jon 😊 I bought a Super Nintendo just for Street Fighter 2. Still my all time favorite game.
We had Pit Fighter in our local Ames store and I loved it. When my brother brought home the Genesis version, I loved it too.
Batman Returns, Bram Stokers Dracula, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Super Street Fighter 2 turbo ,Mortal Kombat 2, Super Mario World were the games me and my brother got for Christmas along with our SNES in 1993
Outstanding work. I thought I knew every Western SNES game....until I watched your video
I graduated from High School in ''93. Spent a lot of that summer renting SNES games for $1 before having to man up and join the work force.
Love this kind of videos!! Please another one also for Sega genesis!😊

Pulling 128 hit ultra combos with Orchid back in the day never felt so good
Killer Instinct was an epic fighting game. I used to mash my roommates all day long in that game. Good times!!!

That definitely sounded A lot like Lanny Poffo for sure! Good catch. I wonder..??
Killer mullet dude!
Final Fantasy 4 is my favorite video game ever not even close
It's my favorite final fantasy game. Great to see another person who likes it more than FF3.

please, all NES games in one video
My nephew pointed out that Mario smacks the back of Yoshi's head to make his tongue come out. Never noticed that 😅
got fond memories of zelda altp.. good times in the 90s!
I think remember the manual said F-Zero was the next Generation of "Formula " but that was 30 years ago lol. I can barely remember last week
We had that RAD Spiderman animated series that was on in the 90's that kinda went along with these SNES games
Lost vikings , earthworm jim, lost vikings , pit fall ( for the retro version lol) and beavis and butthead were definitely my favorites
when snes came out it was mind-blowing 🎉✨
I remember playing lagoon a lot when I was younger it was a great game
7th saga one of the most underrated games ever Loved it
Consider doing a long video of conventions ;)
Omg I loved royal rumble for the SNES I also had raw 😁
I can't believe you forgot the Aero the Acrobat games and the Bust A Move games...
I remember Rocketeer renting that at Blockbuster. I think I got to level 3 twice where the level was side stroller shooter.
The jean Claude Van Damme Mullet looks awesome!
this is like JohnRiggs SNES CRUNCH type of video
Yes, Hyperzone was flying (and shooting) F-Zero…and it was awesome.

Awesome watch, is that a Yo Gabba Gabba shirt?
I always thought the "F Zero" title was supposed to be a play on F-1.
I was still playing nes in 97. We must have been poor, skipped snes and got a 64.
Final Fantasy 2 US is the reason we got an SNES. It and 3 fight for my top FF game of all time. Right now I like 3 slightly more because it did have more substance. 2 is a little linear.

My 5 favorite OST's on the SNES...
Side Pocket.
Illusions of Gaia.
SimCity.
Chrono Trigger.
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja.
That was cool. It would be even better if you did the same video but psx games
2:01:29 That sounds JUST like Tom's scream from old Tom & Jerry cartoons.
Wouldn't mind getting a copy of Axelay, but it's pretty expensive (same with R-Type III). Even the Super Famicom versions are expensive. Well, at least I got Gradius III!
I was a platformer/ fighter type of gamer even back then
Alien 3 was my game. I was addicted.
I blame Earthworm Jim for overanimating input delay into games lol.
I wish they'd bring back a modern Internet ready version I would jump on it fast as lighting 💯
Ninja Warriors best beat-em-up on the snes. All about the throw system, and the block is fun too.

100% feel the same way about FF2 - I thought I was the only one! :-)
@johnriggs remember Aladdins castle and Kay bee toys in the old yakima mall?
I love love love love gradius III & IV for the PS2
Did you ever beat that game around the 57 minute mark as the bird?
It's Blizzard, formerly Silicone and Synapse, that owns Rock and Roll Racing now.
I upgraded to the SNES shortly after somebody stole my NES and games. Then I discovered PC gaming around '95 and didnt console game again minus a stint with a Wii.
