Dunkirk, Norway, Tobruk, Singapore ?
@DynastyGaming I agree there... Even USSR did... To beat Nazi germany has been a whole team effort where even belgian, dutch, italian and many other resistances in europe were necessary... British like all other allies has known many low points and big failures, the advantage is that in the end, the Allies won. My grand father fleed from Spain during the civil war, he was Basque Spanish... The (almost) alone country to accept Spanish at this time was France which gave french nationality to more than 2 millionsof Spanish. My country has done a big failure in 1940, as all the allies failed till 1942-1943... UK has been saved by many things : The Channel, the french sacrifice in Lille and Dunkirk, the fact Hitler didn't want to ivnade England as he was thinking that Chamberlain would win over Churchill (many deputies and Lords wanted peace after the disaster in France) etc... I tokk this thing too seriously because Anglo-saxons always managed to appear as the alone super-heroes int hat war, erasing that the 1st role was done by Red Army (and I am totally opposed to sovietism but we have to concede that without Red Army no win over Germany).
@@jpc7118 Hitler just "didnt want to invade?" Are you for real my friend? I suggest you do some reading....you might find some interesting facts to challenge you r own "findings".....
@@andrewrichards912 He didn't truly want et he wasn't able to invade England, which was combined... First of All the luftwaffe had been incredibly weakened by the campaign of France and low countries. French and other air forces had severely impacted the capacities of the Luftwaffe. Then the Kriegsmarine was no match for Royal Navy. And on the political aspect, I don't change a word on the visions I have as it is the one of the majority of Historians ... I have even read a thesis from an american Historian few years ago which was claiming that Hitler had given confusing orders (not followed) about Dunkirk pockets. His will was to preserve UK troops to obtain a peace and on the other hand he wanted to crush France. That last fact has been told by many historians (whatever their nationalities).
@@jpc7118 There is a major, major difference between a ''Tactical Retreat'' (Dunkirk, Norway and Tobruk) and just outright surrendering your nations flag and country to fascism and tyranny. And saying that the channel was a saving grace for Britain is so disrespectful to the British troops who crossed it to try and take back the very country that your grandfather fled too, we could of just sat back and said ''fuck it, let the RAF deal with the Luftwaffe until the yanks show up''.
Lost five tanks to destroy one, that’s a Soviet Major Victory.
You mean American?
Yea lost fifty tanks to destroy one, THAT'S a Soviet Major Victory
Actually the worst lose-to-win ratio the Soviets had on battle was in Dubno/Brody in July 1941 and they lost 4 tanks per each German tank lost, so not really. And Dubno (also mentioned as Brody, since the battle was fought between both locations) was a Soviet defeat.
Well after the failed Operation Market Garden Montgomery called it a victory. Patton answered that they won't survive another victory of Montgomery.

Fun fact: the Dutch city of Breda was liberated by a Polish division of the British army without even a shot being fired. Should be a sketch in there somewhere...
@@RichardRenes Same division played a crucial role in keeping the Falaise pocket closed. I think it was Montgomery who wrote the following: "Under Falaise we locked the Germans like they were in a bottle, and the Polish Armoured Division was the cork in this bottle". General Maczek's men saw the end of the war in Wilhelmshaven which they captured, or to whom the base capitulated on May 5 1945.
@@TheMrCosmo Best thing is, that the "repeat please" scene was based on a real event. During a training flight one of participating Polish pilots, Ludwik Paszkiewicz, noticed a German plane, broke off from the formation and shot it down. Upon returning to the base he was reprimanded for breaking discipline and congratulated on his and the squadron's first victory. 303 Squadron was declared operational on the next day and despite joining the fight late into Battle of Britain, ended with highest kill count out of all allied squadrons- over 100 confirmed kills. I like how you don’t favor one side’s tanks over the other.
On one hand, you make fun of the Germans for lacking the resources to build enough tanks and how their overly complex engineering led to mechanical and human error.
On the other you make fun of the Allies’ tanks for their reoccurring inability to penetrate German armor and for the British tanks’ box-like design.
Moral of the story: Every tank sucked in their own way in WWII. The only reason the Allied tanks became triumphant was because their factories were about as fertile as octo-mom.
EDIT: And because, while Allied tanks could usually be knocked out easier, the crew would often survive and just hop into another tank days later.
