Deep Purple (Mk II).......Singer is Ian Gillan; interestingly enough, he did the original recording of Gethsemane for Jesus Christ Superstar musical. He is considered one of the greatest vocalists in the history of rock. There is a double live album Made in Japan, recorded in the early 1970s, listen to it. They were considered by many (especially musicians) to be the best live band of the 1970s. For this line up The two best studio albums are Deep Purple in Rock and then Machine Head....This song is actually about the fear of Nuclear War recorded during Cold War between USA and USSR
I have to agree with everything you said and I learned a few facts too. Thanks. BTW I'm 61 and have always been a Purple fan but when I was younger I only listen to the most popular songs but as I got older I found songs like this blew away the small group of songs I litened to most. This song is insanely incredible. Thanks again bro. Take care
The audience was asked to be still and quiet. One of the most powerful performances ever. Lead singer Ian Gillan sang the part of Jesus in "Jesus Christ Superstar". "Highway Star' next!
Ian was asked to play Jesus in the movie and turned it down. Ted Neeley played Jesus whose voice is just as incredible. Ted is still doing Jesus Christ Superstar all over the world and he can still wail in his 70s.
Congratulations! You have just discovered the greatest band of all times. Best of all, they are still active touring and making new fabulous music. A love for a lifetime 😍

Im 66, I’ve always loved soul. But more mussel shoals than Motown. But I love rock as well. Was a Big purple fan. A few of their albums sitting alongside my Otis Redding.
Jon Lord was and always will be the greatest rock organist to ever grace a stage. I don't think anyone comes close. Listen to SMOKE ON THE WATER, probably their best known song of all time. I'm partial to PERFECT STRANGERS because it wad when they reunited in the 80s and i got to go sere them live, one of my best memories
I too was glad that they reunited for their Perfect Strangers album as it allowed me to see them play my favourite song, Lazy. The concert was the day after my 19th birthday. So yes, a very special memory for me also.
One of the best songs ever written and performed. DP had genius talent throughout the line up-and my personal favorite, Ian Gillan, in the top few best rock singers of all time.
Deep Purple's career spanned many years and I have been lucky enough to see them live on numerous occasions. They have never disappointed me and are rated as one of the greatest rock bands ever to grace a stage. They were so versatile and incredibly talented musicians. Truly one of the very best rock bands ever, although somewhat in Led Zeppelin's shadow for much of their career, but they still held their own with their distinctive style, especially Ian Gillan on vocals and Ritchie Blackmore on lead guitar. We must never forget Jon Lord, (R.I.P.) on keyboards, classically trained and absolutely phenomenal.
Excellent reaction to Deep Purple. I've seen them in concert not too long ago and they are still going strong. Another excellent group with intense instruments is Grand Funk Railroad - Inside Looking Out. So many good tunes out there. Keep up the good work!
Five amazing musicians just doing their thing. Jon Lord-Organ, Richie Blackmore-Guitar, Ian Gillan-Vocals, Roger Glover-Bass and Ian Paice-Drums, THE Mark II version of Deep Purple, and in most peoples opinion the best version. Seen these very guys three times and it was always a treat and an exhibition of talent not to be missed. The audience in this video is either stunned or stupid. One of England's greatest exports.
The audience is not stunned and not stupid, but followed the instructions - this version is the best, not because it is sung and played better than anyone, but because it is recorded almost perfectly, and this is a great merit of the audience, who kept silence.
Favorite song by Purple. Had the pleasure of seeing them live and they played this song. Which was great because by during that tour they only did this song every other night. It was hard on Ian's vocals.

Just to give this song some context, the Vietnam War was still going on. Deep Purple's song Smoke On The Water is their most played but My Woman From Tokyo is also a good one to listen to.
I just realized you haven’t heard The Doors yet. Now there’s a lot to choose from Love Me Two Times, Break On Through, Roadhouses Blues, The End… could go on forever with this list. The Doors definitely deserve some play time. Jim Morrison has an iconic voice ❤❤❤
All Five of Them are masters of their Weapons. 1.)Ian Gillan -vocals 2.)John Glover- Bass Guitar 3.) Ritchie Blackmore -Electric Guitar. 4.)Jon Lord-Organ 5.)Ian Paice - Drums. Meet Deep Purple.
Suggestion for ya'll to hear Jeff Beck play guitar. The song is "People Get Ready" with Rod Stewart singing. Beck is considered one of the top 10 best guitar players in the world, played last in band with Johnny Depp, and passed away in January of this year (2023). I would call the performance a duet, only Stewart sings his part but Beck's guitar sings the other part. I'm positive y'all would enjoy it. (If you've reacted to it already I didn't find the video.)
Takes me back to my teens. When music was music and instrumental talent was off the charts. Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Queen, Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Simply Red, The Band, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore (Still got the Blues), Black Sabbath, Phil Collins, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and the list goes on. 70s and 80s were the best. ❤❤❤
Great reaction and this was anti-war song !! Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath (all GB) had a huge influence on american "heavy rock" scene back in the late -60`s, early -70`s and later on. Then come "glam rock"; one of the pioneers was Hanoi Rocks from Finland based 1979. Then come Guns & Roses and Bon Jovi ;-)
I grew up listening to Deep Purple and had their black light posters on my walls and went to several of their concerts back in the 70s. Me and my friends would sit around in our basements or bedrooms, smoking weed and jamming to Deep Purple. we were the real "That 70s sho.... hahaha They were incredible to see live. Next time try their hit "Smoke on the water"... that'll really blow your mind. ua-cam.com/video/F7ZF2xaNhyw/v-deo.html
Check out minute 9:11 Drummer Ian Anderson drops his stick and manages to recover like a boss! I have always found this super awesome and not a lot of people catches it lol
Well spot. Probably a mistype, but the drummer's name is Ian Paice (the only one playing in all editions of Purple and still touring). Ian Anderson is the singer/flutist from Jethro Tull
Like it happened to drummer NICK MASON OF PINK FLOYD at the live concert in the remains of Pompeji (only for cameras - N O people 😊!!) the song was: 'One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces' / BERNIE GERMANY ❤🎉😊
Legendary!!!💯... From their, Machine Head Album and "Made in Japan Live Album!" I remember them well. The early 1970s. I was in high school and the brothers really rocked that album. Awesome time in the music world of all kinds!💯🔥👍... R.I.P. Jon Lord! (Keyboard, Organ, and ETC)....
So glad you finally got to this one. It's a fire classic for sure. Pure songwriting, master musicians. If you're going to do Rush, do YYZ live in Brazil. Trust us. When are you going to check out Alanis Morrissette? Start with her video You Outa Know. Not Morrisette. Alanis Morrissette.
Hey guys! They were forerunners if heavy metal. This song is Vietnam protest. If you want a real head banger of theirs...try Highway Star...just don't listen while driving😂😂😂
Guys, might I recommend listening to the entire album Machine Head. Every song on it is a classic...Smoke On The Water, Highway Star, Lazy, Space Truckin,' etc. Great reaction to Child In Time. I always said the song is their Stairway To Heaven.
When it comes to comparing groups like deep purple led Zeppelin Rush, they are all so talented you can't compare it just comes down to personal taste. Like saying who's more talented Picasso or Rembrandt.
Instead of messing around and acting like fools, if you'd listened to the lyrics you'd have heard it was an anti-war song (Vietnam was going on at the time) and the "screaming" represents the soldiers dying, and the staccato guitar playing represents machine gun fire. It's not just a piece of music undertaken by five of the greatest musicians that have ever lived, but a brilliant piece of story telling.
Deep Purple has a song called "Hush" from 1966 that you fellas need to hear, these boys been at it a long time. There's another group from that era called Vanill Fudge yall need to check out. The song to show off their talents is "The Break Song" off the "Near the Beginning" Album from 1969. It's 23 minutes 23 seconds of musical gymnastics, each member does a solo, showing how it's done. It looks like you guys enjoy great Rock music, I'm sure you'll dig this, since I heard it when it came out in 1969, it's still one of my favorites of all time.
R.I.P the mighty Jon Lord on the keyboards. Legend of the game!!

The Doors are. O where near Deep Purple as musicianship . Purple are a milestone.Purple and Black Sabbath both pioneers of heavy metal.
One of the greatest songs ever.
All Five of Them are masters of their Weapons.
1.)Ian Gillan -vocals
2.)John Glover- Bass Guitar
3.) Ritchie Blackmore -Electric Guitar.
4.)Jon Lord-Organ
5.)Ian Paice - Drums.
Meet Deep Purple.
Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water Official Video (live).
One of the great songs that was better in the recording studio than live.
They were an all star band basically, amazing performance
Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin the UNHOLY TRINITY OF HEAVY METAL!
Deep Purple's "Highway Star"is a must to check out more of Ritchie Blackmore.
A legitimate super group.
Each one a master musician.
The drummer is Ian Paice and a hell of a drummer.
Child In Time - YESSSSSS!!!💜🙌🏼
Saw them in 85 & 86. And Ian Gillan many times since.
Guys, might I recommend listening to the entire album Machine Head. Every song on it is a classic...Smoke On The Water, Highway Star, Lazy, Space Truckin,' etc. Great reaction to Child In Time. I always said the song is their Stairway To Heaven.
Smoke on the Water bruh. You probably know that one. Deep Purple my childhood music.
Ritchie blackmore was the best Guitarist of that era.
I don't care about the music I'm just here for y'all's reactions. Love you all!
AMAZING VOCALS AND AMAZING BAND
Deep Purple has a song called "Hush" from 1966 that you fellas need to hear, these boys been at it a long time. There's another group from that era called Vanill Fudge yall need to check out. The song to show off their talents is "The Break Song" off the "Near the Beginning" Album from 1969. It's 23 minutes 23 seconds of musical gymnastics, each member does a solo, showing how it's done. It looks like you guys enjoy great Rock music, I'm sure you'll dig this, since I heard it when it came out in 1969, it's still one of my favorites of all time.
Now Imagine hearing this song during these times while you were tripping balls on acid. Bands like this give you an experience.
Pure talent. Nothing fake here. Give me back those days.
