HE SADLY Passed away since then! He was ILL with Cancer when he performed this and yet the man was PHENOMENAL! THE OLD 60S BRITISH Rock, Blues bands don't get enough CREDIT, (BECAUSE), THEY basically created and helped to create modern music.. close your eyes and tell me this doesn't sound like Ray Charles! They obviously all drew from Eachother, but as far as this more modern sound with more classical arrangements, that's something else! It's like when Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker aka "Cream" got together! There were fireworks!! It was something no one had heard before and haven't since.. phenomenal sound, virtuosity from ALL THREE! AND Just genius song writing, performing and the feeling they emoted with the sound they produced! IMMENSE!! ANYONE who either wanted to try to recreate it failed and anyone who tried to replace one of the 3, failed! Regardless of how good the musicians were! You HAVE to cover a special like a 12 hour job of the 2005 Cream reunion concert With Clapton, Bruice and Baker!! (Before Jack Bruce died) he was STILL phenomenal! Fretless bass guitar and vocals.. and Ginger Baker on the track "Toad" given how old, chain smoking and not well he was, THE GREATEST DRUM SOLO YOU will EVER SEE!! 😎💪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧

That is what is so different from music of yesteryear compared to modern music. You don’t need the electronic gizmos that make your voice sound different, you don’t need the dancers, the pyrotechnics and the light shows. You don’t need the pre recorded music. It is like going to an Eagles concert. All you get are The Eagles, they don’t even dress fancy and no dancers light shows or pyrotechnics.

you made the connection with "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge. Good ears! That was the inspiration for the vocal melody and chords for this song in 1966. Then the organ player threw the intro on top which was a shout-out to J.S. Bach's "Air on a G String", so you have baroque, classical, and R&B all rolled into one with trippy poetic lyrics. This was the #1 song of 1967 and still to this day enchants.

Our organist in my HS rock band (mid-late '60's) had one and carting that thing around had us wore out before we even took stage. But we were making big money, sometimes 7 of us would split 100 bucks! Go to the trailer behind the DQ and get 2 burgers (cheese .10 for both, extra) load of fries, large shake for $2 afterwards. DQ didn't serve food back then in our 'burg. Gas was 19.9 to 28.9.

Btw Percy Sledge sang “When A Man Loves A Woman”. That record was also in the collection. My dad taught me to slow dance to that song by standing on his feet and dancing. RIP Dad❤

This whole dynamic warms my heart all the way around. We humans every now and then come together at the perfect moment and transcend our differences and feel the same thing at the same time and these kids are leading the way to a better world in their own sweet way. Some people dare to bear their souls and we can all relate to that.

It's great to see young people appreciate this absolute classic which was releaed in 1967. Such a brilliant reaction. Thank you guys. Best wishes from the UK.

I was 15 years old when this song came out in 1967. Makes my heart so happy that you enjoyed and appreciated a song from so long ago.

First heard this on holiday, every time I hear it I fly back in time and can accurately identify exactly where I was sat on the sea wall with friends ❤️
