WOW here you go again. You have a GOD given ability to see the beauty in all wood no mater how Big or SMALL. You have taught and inspired me to turn ALL WOOD. That even ugly small pieces also have hidden beauty not to be ignored. You are the best. I will keep on turning till I am blue in the face, but I will never match your creations. Healthy or not, never stop your inspirational work to be viewed by all woodturners around the world!!!!! I hope to see you as a demonstrator at one of the AAW International Woodturners Symposiums some day. The world needs to see the talent you have. I hope to meet you someday and shake your hand and give you a BIG THANK YOU for inspiring me. KEEP ON TURNING

Your gift idea was easy and fast to make a bowl out of it turned out beautiful. I have 30,000 just (exactly like that) at home (or almost that many). It would be a perfect gift for that someone that has everything ( not when Phils around). I had a company that wanted to give their 11 employes a thank you gift. I informed her that they would not be just alike. I specialy create and craft each one based on what I have to work with. You wont find anything like them in a big box store. GREAT she A Chrismas Gift, Birthday, Anniversary Well, Graduation, any special occasion or simply just to say THANK YOU!!!!!!

Makes me cry when I think about all the little jewels that have been burned for scraps. But I have to sigh with relief knowing I do not through anything away LOL.
What a cute little bowl Phil. Like you said it has everything and your treatment of saw marks is very special. No bark? No problem you certainly are able to show of the nature that is there and enhance what took place over time with the wood.
Oh I was going to say I wonder if it could be Mesquite? Looks similar and Mesquite is a pretty hard wood.
Pretty cool looking piece my friend,
