SPICY Pepper Wood! Round 2! Really Nice! - Wood Turning
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 тра 2024
- This came to me in a full round log. I cut it in half and turned the first half about a year ago. This is the other half and what a difference! The wood in this piece is far superior in quality! It was a joy to turn! Finished in shellac.

Phil again..."BEAUTIFUL... BEAUTIFUL... BEAUTIFUL...I can smell that pepper wood from here...lol
Best...
Cool, thanks, Robin! 😊
I was sneezing throughout the video! 😂😆😝😉
LOL! 😊
Such a cool piece Phil and so different than the last one. I saw that Eagle before you even ask so with out doubt you have an eagle living in the bowl. And he is not going anywhere or he would have flown away when you dropped it. But perhaps the genie put a spell on him and he stayed. I know this turning put a spell on us watching you work your magic.
Great work my friend,
Gary
My two favorite turners 😊👍
Always with the one-liners, Gary, I love it! Yeah, this turned out so much better than it's other half. Interesting to me. I'll have to keep an eye on that genie! Thanks, buddy! 😊
Pretty Pepper wood bowl, beautifully shaped 🙂
Thank you, Karen! 😊
Beautiful bowl. Again thanks for sharing your beautiful artwork Phil
Thank you, Doug! 😊
that pepperwood bowl is nothing to sneeze at! beauty
LOL!
Perfect!!! A perfect marriage of mother nature and your talent. You never cease to amaze me!!! Have a blessed weekend. 🥰
Thank you, Mary, you too! 😊
A genie in a bowl. I love it.
Me too! 😊
I love looking for things in the wood too. I see Big Foot on the back. 😝 Always fun watching you do your magic.
Thank you, Vickie! That's two for Bigfoot! 😊
I have to forward this video - what a beautiful turning.
Cool, thank you kindly, Nelson! 😊
I enjoy finding figures in my turnings, too. That is a really nice piece!
Thank you, Carol! 😊
That’s beautiful. ❤ 👍👍👍
Thank you! 😊
The bowl is great Phil. Keep them coming, Dan.
Thank you, Dan! I'ma workin' on it! 😊
It looked like the calipers scored the bowl as you were checking the wall thickness. Of course, I could be wrong.
It's a logical explanation and that's what many are saying, Dennis. Something I hadn't thought of. 😊
Phil you better rub rub rub that bowl! It sure came with some luck!❤
It’s Absolutely beautiful, Phil! Excellent job, Phil!
I'm going to the casino soon and plan on rubbing it all the way there, MaryBeth! 😊
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop 😂 😆 😝 🍀
Almost started sneezing, just listening to you talking about the pepper wood.
LOL!
Keep up good work Phil I like what you do 😊
Thanks, will do! 😀
The orange bark is a real plus! Lovely work, as always, Phil!
It really is! Thank you, Stephanie! 😊
The eagle came out of the lamp and drew the lines with its beak. I also saw a buffalo running. At any rate, eagle, lamp and/or a buffalo, it's a beautiful piece, Phil. Ya dun it proud, ya did!
Cool, thanks, Robert! 😊
I enjoy all your videos. I learn loads of you. Thank you Phil.
Cool, thanks, Sue! 😊
Beautiful Phil. I think there is more dust in your pocket. That was funny. I think the calipers made that line. This video was very enjoyable. Thank you for sharing. I hope I see you on the next one.
Thank you, Albert! Yup, it was the calipers, dang it! 😊
A pleasure as always😊 fantastic.
Thanks again, George! 😊
Love the lighting on this bowl. Great oval shape. The 2 lines give it character. Last nights video with your family was a pleasure to see. You have a beautiful family Phil
Thank you so much, Wendy! 😊
The genie dish! Gorgeous.
Yes! Thank you, Leona! 😊
I love to watch you turn these woods. Amazing and so so satisfying to watch your work🙏🏻❤️😇🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰
Thank you very much, Phyllis! I love your name. I once had a girlfriend named Phyllis Anderson and I thought how cool it would be if we got married. Of course, I was 9 at the time... 😊
I love that orange bark! Another gorgeous bowl.
Me too, thanks, Kathleen! 😊
😀 I can see all your pictorials. Beautiful.
Cool, thanks, Kam! 😊
An eagle ? Perhaps. A genie lamp? Maybe. Or is it a charging buffalo just about to bash heads ? Great piece of work Phil.
All of the above! 😊
Thats some pretty wood. Especially the bark. Beautiful job. You just don't let us down. Thanks
Thank you, Garth! 😊
Nice work Phil! I think you might've made the line while checking the thickness. Must be a really soft wood. Still turned out very nice. I love how thick the bark is. Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏!
You are right, Stephen and, yes, I need to be more careful with soft wood, dang it! 😊
Great job Phil . Another beautiful Live edge bowl .
Thank you, Jon! 😊
such gorgeous bark... the whole bowl is beautiful... but that bark ... oh my goodness it's stunning
Agreed, Celia, thanks! 😊
Another beautiful piece Phil! And yes I see the lamp! Well done, thx and take care.
Awesome, thank you!😊
Another beautiful piece Phil. Sure glad nothing bad happened when you dropped it. Thanks again for sharing.
Me too, Scott, thank you! 😊
Perfection!! Just beautiful, Phil.
Glad you like it, Kim, thanks! 😊
Beautiful piece Phil. Definitely nothing to sneeze at. Nice Job.
Haha, thank you! 😊
Wow. One of the most beautiful pieces of live edge I've seen.
So glad you like it, thank you! 😊
Absolutely beautiful bowl Phil. The colors are amazing. I just love this piece.
Cool, thanks, Jean! 😊
Another fantastic turning!
Thank you, Travis! 😊
Another wonderful piece, although there is mystery in it. Thanks, Phil!
Thank you, Richard! 😊
Beautiful wood and a great turn . Always a pleasure .😊
Thank you, Jim! 😊
Gorgeous piece, Phil! Those lines are indeed puzzling. When you turn the genie lamp over, I see a buffalo.
Thanks, Buddy! The calipers, or more specifically, the operator that caused the lines, Billy. 😊
I see a raven! Such a great piece Phil!
That's about six Ravens, Anthony! 😊
Fascinating features. I love the stories your pieces create.
How nice, thank you, Sue! 😊
nice to see you work on a project that isn't pounding you to bits, Phil. Yes that is a beautiful piece of wood and you made it like that.
Thank you, Wayne! 😊
Those lines are wild!
😊
Just GORGEOUS, Phil. I love the growth rings. What a beautiful piece.
Thanks a lot, Jane! 😊
Another beautiful piece. Love the colors especially the bark.
Thank you very much, Doug! 😊
Perfect bark bowl!
😊
I like this finish over the feed n wax, Phil. Nicely done!
Me too, Hubert! Thanks! 😊
Hey Phil my brother John knows what caused those straight lines. It was your calipers that caused the lines. if you look back on your You tube video it makes the same mark on the inside, but you sanded the inside after which took out the scratches. Its a beautiful bowl. Just wondering if you could do a couple of video's showing all your woodturning pieces. I would love to see them all.
Your brother is right, Cathy! I need to be more careful when dealing with such soft wood. The video sounds interesting but difficult to do. I do have a picture of about 18 months worth of them sitting on a table. ua-cam.com/channels/hnrYga7SuRvCngBRTVX-vQ.htmlcommunity?lb=Ugkxj5ZxLF2gCsaX8xzjYyxZ-40JNvsdbH7Z
Another stunner, Phil!
Thank you, Danella! 😊
STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL!! You are blessed with such amazing talent! ❤ Diana
Thank you so much, Diana! 😊

You're welcome, Phil. 😊
Gidday cobber, yep another beauty. The shellac finish definately worked. I saw the other bowl with the feed and wax and this shows the differance between the two finishes really well. Cheers Phil, see you next week. Deno
Yup, this finish is far better as is the wood. Thanks, Deno! 😊
Hello Phil, I just finished some wedge fries....I bet you are jealous. I went back to look at your video of how you smooth between coats of finish. Easy peasy is how its done. Great job on this bowl.
Always a treat to watch you work.
Rock on, Chris and enjoy those wedge fries! Glad you enjoyed the videos, thank you! 😊
Love this one Phil 🎉
Cool, thank you, Bobbie! 😊
WOW Phil that's one beautiful wood and I love the lamp. lol.
Haha, thanks, Manjit! 😊
Beautiful. Love the grain and bark. Bet it’s even better in person.
Hey, fancy seeing you here! Thank you! 😊
Another show stopper Phil. I saw the eagles and lamp!! 🙂
Yay, thanks, Laura! 😊
As you said, it’s perfect. Love the bark edge. I remember the difficulty you had with the other half - puzzling how two pieces from the same log can be so different!
Yeah, I wish I could have found the other half that I already turned. I wanted to show them side by side. Must have given it away. 😊
Thank you for the giggle you gave me during the pocket blowout! That orange bark really is beautiful and compliments the grain so well. Thank you to Jim also for providing some great wood for turning. 👏🏻
Haha, glad to make you laugh, Gwynn, thank you! 😊
Your nicest bowl yet . Lovely bowl nicely done
Glad you like it, Gary, thank you! 😊
Beautiful !!
😊
Fruit wood is usually quite hard. I love the moments after the sanding when the finish goes on and the wood's color and character light up!
😊
I see a nice bird in there Phill, lovely wood well turned as always.
Thank you! 😊 Cheers!
Another delight Phil Your work and commentary are wonderful. Terry downunder
Thank you very much, Terry! 😊
Achoo beautifull bowl Phil great jod❤
Maria and David Wise
Haha, thank you! 😊
The genie lamp is a lot more pronounced than the eagle head. When you turned it pointing out the genie lamp I had to laugh. It is beautiful wood. I almost get jealous over some of the beautiful wood I have watched you turn. I am trying my darndest to learn my lathe, so I have not been watching as much, but I still have to come to your videos to learn things one of the things he’s making that curve from the side to the bottom, but I’m working on it. thank you for continuing to share your beautiful work. I really do enjoy watching your videos.
I'm still learning also and Phil has ruined me for turning anything easy, I'm always looking for the most difficult pieces to turn, but way more fun and satisfying.😊
@@JamesCouch777 I completely understand. It’s just more satisfying and fun when you get through that difficult piece. So far pecan wood has been my worse battle. But I did finally win. My husband got my lathe for my 55th birthday February 2023 and today is September 7 of 2023 so I am very much so a newbie. Plus there was two months in there I didn’t get to play on it at all because of prior commitments with my other Hobby, which is making concrete planter pots.
Lynda, glad to see another woman at the lathe. I hope it brings you great satisfaction.
@@valeriehenschel1590 yes ma’am so far. I think with each new piece of wood to put up. I enjoy it more and more. I find in the hidden beauty excites me as silly as that may sound. Likewise, it’s nice to know there is another woman out there learning the lathe.
That turn was the hardest thing for me to learn, too, Lynda! One day it just worked and I came running into the house to tell my wife! 😊
Great grain coloration in this piece. Lovely piece.
I'm glad you like it, Vicki! 😊
Completely flawless!
😊
Silky smooth🤪👏🇬🇧
Indeed! 😊
This piece is so beautiful! I like how you keep the bark on your work whenever possible.
Glad you enjoy it, Judith! 😊
Hi Phil, another great video. The lines were caused by the calipers when you checked the thickness. I could see it in the video each time you took a thickness measurement. I hope that solves the mystery. The bowl looks great regardless of the "character" lines'
Dave D
You are correct.
Right on the money, Dave, thanks! 😊
Beautiful Phil 👍xx
Thanks, Jude! 😊
Good Job Phil!
Thanks, Ken! 😊
Absolutely fantastic grains and color..
Great shape and finish as always with your turnings

Beautiful once again.!
Thanks again, Nick! 😊
Saw the bird right away and when you turned it around I could see the ladin lamp it really is a beautiful piece that really is quite the defect in the wood that line running through it Blessings Phil Have a Super Awesome Weekend
Thank you so much! 😊
Another fun one, buddy!
Thank you, Michael! 😊
Your amazing skills turned another beautiful piece. I was yelling more bark but you didn’t hear me. 😂 I love the bark. The color is really nice. I also agree that there is a genie lamp! Great video!
Thank you, Susanne! 😊
Another awesome piece!
Thank you! 😊 Cheers!
Much nice than the other pepper wood bowl. Beautiful grain. Love the orange bark. I saw the eagles and the lamp.
Very cool, thanks, Russ! 😊
Very beautiful bowl Phil.
Thanks, Jack! 😊
Beautiful Phil.
I could see the Eagle and the Lamp as well.
Those 2 straight line marks are a mystery.
Great video to go with my cup of tea.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
The lines were caused by the calipers and the operator of the calipers, Huw, as pointed out by many of my viewers. Dang it! Thanks for breakfast, my friend! 😊
@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop That makes sense. I've never seen them before and I've never had them as I don't measure the thickness of my bowls. lol
@@WoodenItBeNice 😊
Turned out beautiful! Love that wood!
Thank you, Dianne! 😊
It’s a lovely live edge bowl. I didn’t comment on your last video but it was so nice to see you with your family. 🌞
