The shot at 2:00 Minutes is a very good example, why you shouldn't trust your eyes alone with the aiming system. If you keep a close watch to the minimap you'll notice that, at the moment the guns are fired, the aiming reticle is offset to the north side of the ship class sprite on the map (which is the closer side, relative towards the own ship). Only right after the shot is taken and the camera moves back to normal view (out of zoom), the reticle will go dead center on the yamato.
Additionally symbols on the map have just one standard sprite per ship type- meaning it is not the actual width/ length of the ship. These sprites can (and will be) be slightly bigger than many actual ships would be on the map, if they were to be represented with an actual model.
All in all we had a bigger- than- the- ship- sprite und we aditionally aimed at the outer edge of that sprite (meaning the reticle, not what the camera view showed us!). Et voila- shots fall short.
I'm not saying this is a good aiming system, or that it isn't buggy, or whatever. It is just something that I also noticed on other videos and my own replays. And that you shouldn't always trust your actual visuals. The camera changes might have done more than bugging the reticle at some points...
This is why I've learned to instinctively double check my shots to see if the game is registering it the same way I want it to, you just can't trust this game with anything.
I really have to start using the minimap more often..I got frustrated with the aiming modules and flat-out removed them in favor of other equipment. Seeing that behavior @2:00 explains A LOT about how I can get random cits/devstrikes, and then miss a complete salvo the next lineup. How Arcade of WoW's.. :/
Doesn't the spotter plane make you have to adjust your aim? Having to aim higher??? I remember Flamu talking about this. (I don't play BB so I'm not familiar)
With PQ's mods making his visual view look normal while in spotter plane mode. That would explain why he constantly misses his shots.
It sure seems to me he is the problem here... Not so much the game? (Not to say the game is perfect)
I just went and rewatched his shit at the 2:00 mark and he definitely did aim poorly.
The mini map shows he aimed exactly where his shots landed. Odd how he doesn't realize this...
@@jeffallen3382 Regarding the adjustment of aim with spotter plane, that only occurs when you are in the spotter-plane view and your visual angle of incidence to the reticle is elevated (e.g. you are now looking down onto the target, as opposed to across it). Pressing the "C" key with spotter plane up transitions from the high-angle spotter plane view to the normal low-angle view, and in the latter, adjustment due to the aforementioned change of visual angle should not come into consideration. Note that PQ never transitioned into the high-angle view for this shot after popping the spotter plane, so there should be no adjustment needed.

There is nothing "less satisfying" about 10k+ salvos with fires into angled battleships. That is 100% satisfying af.

The Slava does not have smth strange in its belt armor that makes ap shatter / bounce when broadside?
I think between the cyclone shot and the storm it shows the ballistics and reticle aiming are fine but whatever they've done for the auto-aim and lock on is bugged
hey i have a theory about whats going on with the aiming system. i believe that the target lock on has to happen in first person view, whereas a 3rd person lock on with then zooming to pov would increase the chance of shells going low or high.
would have to test that tho /aintnobodygottimefothat
This whole line still seems sort of meh. I get that it's sort of set up for HE spamming since it has weak armor, weak AP at range, and no torpedoes, but we have enough HE spammers already. The British line still seems far better at HE spamming, especially at range, and has better AP values apparently. I certainly would never spend real money on early access events, or anything else in this game anymore, but when they're free I'll try them. Great series of videos, thank you.
I'm thinking of going down this line and saw a spreadsheet that showed that is secondaries are actually pretty strong, I'd love to see you do a Full secondary build Bungo sometime!
Did they not patch a bug on this line of ships? Should you not discard your earlier games on this line because of that?
The ap is performing way better while blind firing? Maybe try to shoot at ships without locking on. lol

How about IFHE on those ships? I think it might work well since you probably gain a lot of pen for not a lot of fire chance.
You pen 76mm, IFHE is a waste of points. You already pen every BB deck short of Lauria’s 120mm deck, and whatever fires you could have gotten you throw that away.
Ashitaka has Amagi shells iirc; its the mutsu that gets weaker shells than the nagato
Apparently the shells got changed somewhere along the way. Ashitaka used to have the crappy A-hull Amagi's shells, which is probably why people still think her shells are way worse than they actually are.

Consistency is the lowest bar where I start judging a ship. I'll wait till it gets ironed out into the shape of the current meta to bother with it.
Did you try secondaries?
I know that these are not, strictly speaking, secondary ships; nor is the armour really suited. Just a question as to their performance IF specced into and IF given the opportunity to shoot.
Full secondary Bungo at T10 should perform exactly like a T8 full secondary Kii. I have my Kii built for secondaries, so maybe it'd work on Bungo? Still, the range isn't that good.

Im a little new to wows, how does he get the high up views when aiming at ships?
When you have a spotter plane up press the "c" key I think it is, that will give you an elevated view, but you MUST have a spotter plane in the air, otherwise it just swaps the view from your front guns to rear guns or vice versa.

Just grind to what you can get for free, and get the T10 when it fully comes out for free in two patches

@zlpatriot11 I guess I should rephrase my question and situation. I'm in optometry school (grad program) and I'm incredibly busy and no longer have time to grind. I can occasionally play video games, just nowhere near enough time to grind so basically what I'm asking is, is it worth getting these ships if my only realistic option is to pay or should I skip them?

I would have found this new line if WG had given these ships either tops or secondaries. But as they are, I will eventually get around to doing the grind.
Ngl, I kinda like this more. Having both ammo types be proper options and having appeal in a BB is something that all BBs should have had, but I'm glad we are finally getting it. Same for Brit BCs and BBs and even the French line if you are good enough

Ok, I know I wrote that thingy about Montana in my previous comment. So, data:
At 18.9 km, pen (angle of impact relative to normal):
Monty: 450 mm (16 °), Bungo: 448 mm (13°).
Either there is something more effed up than the aiming system or Monty has quite actually worse pen at that range. (Due to the angle of impact.)

in terms of damage numbers, yes. However, HE damage can be healed much more than citadel damage, with most ships only able to repair 10% to 33% of that damage.

You didn't say it but it's simple how to resume this line, Bungo line is basically an oversized Azuma :) Bad armor, good enoug ap, great HE, good dispersion, no torps, and you play basically the same as well

Just researched the Bungo, first game in it almost made me quit wows, its a terd past 18k. I came back here and re watched the video and noticed he is playing at close ranges. At long ranges only fire at still targets, Bungo shoots so high ships are gone before shells come down from orbit.
I did have high hopes for this ship line, but idk man, Im thinking that this line of BBs are shit

Wargaming deliberately nerfed the aiming system especially in bbs so that game can last longer due to stupid player base and current meta of blowouts...

You are just wrong when it comes to the Montana getting citadels on that Slava because don't forget Slava has the Kremlin armor scheme which means it is angled in a way where it get thicker the higher impact angle you have so Montana with its slow shells well bounce Slava broadside at that range easily

I mean...do you want him to just constantly delves in a circlejerk of hate? He is just trying to bring up the positive of the line. The AP is crap, the armor is bad, but the HE is quite nice, speed is ok, and good concealment.
And like the game has been passive for a long time, after the CV rework and the addition of submarines to game, it is what it is honestly. You cannot stop, PQ cannot stop it, no one can really stop it.
Just go for Conqueror instead
