I STILL watch "Keeping Up Appearances " religiously. There are not many shows that I can honestly say, make me laugh out lough, uproaruliously, at times, than this show. It has definitely stood the test of time and I believe can be watched today without feeling old or out of touch. There has been episodes that I have laughed so hard at certain scenes that I find myself replaying those scenes in my head later on in the day and laugh just as hard.
I'm in Australia and I loved her performances in Keeping Up Appearances, they are classic and always will be. However I fail to see what's sad about her life, she has had more like a vibrant life lived to the full of what she loved and I think that at her age of 95, she's entitled to a bit of a break from it as I and many others are retired professional people. But life doesn't end there because we try to encourage and teach others in our various fields as I'm quite sure that Dame Patricia Routledge does while she's able. Thank you Dame Patricia, you have brought so much happiness to so many people all over the planet.

Totally agree. A great Dame. Great Actress and Great Comedienne. Nothing 'sad' about such a long vibrant and successful life.
Patricia was absolutely perfect for Hyacinth! My Mum and I use to watch this show every Saturday night. One of our favorite episodes is when they were on the cruise ship with Onslow and Daisy!🤣😆🤣😆🤣❤
Wonderfully skilled actress, such a talent. I am a huge fan of Keeping Up Appearances. Beautifully cast and well written. I did catch Patricia Routledge in "A Lady of Letters" - must watch, superb.
When she came to the united states and her show, I fell in love with that show, and I still watch it.And now i'm eighty six years old, and i'm so glad she's doing well
My favorite aunt taped all the episodes of "Keeping up Appearances". I came across this program late one night & also loved this program. God bless her.
So, I'm very glad that there's nothing "sad" about her career or the way she's living now at 95! The need to dramatise everything just to grab views is disgraceful. Dame Patricia Routledge is a lovely, genuine and talented lady who - as we can see, has enjoyed an extremely varied and successful career, and is now, I'm sure, enjoying a well-earned retirement. Let's celebrate the truth.
@@richardgreiner9264 the sad thing is that people. like the person that posted this, has to resort to using words like sad to attention seek the public into watching their clip.... people just need to start being honest, I for one won't be subscribing to their channel if they can t just tell the truth
Old age is sad for everyone, but to get to 95 years after such a successful career is hardly 'sad'. And agreed dramatising everything to get views, actually lying, is shameful.
What a wonderful life and career to be celebrated! Congratulations your semi retirement is fabulous. Carry on with your chosen pursuits! Honor us at your leisure!

I love this show & Mrs. Bucket. 😂 My 3yr old grandson saw me watching one day, sat on the sofa and that was our show everyday at 2pm.he's now 15 still loves it. ❤
I'm in the US and watched both of her TV series. I think they were aired on the Public Broadcasting System (PBS). No question, Patricia is a very talented actress.
We should all lead such sad lives! Everyone who appeared on Keeping Up Appearances have passed away and she is still with us. Most people retire in their 60s so what part of her life is sad!
I only recently discovered Patricia Routledge in Keeping Up Appearances & now I am obsessed with that program. She and the other actors were amazing. I wish her well & thank her for the laughter she brought into my life.
Same here! I just discovered it a little over a year ago. I am now rewatching them now. I don't think I have ever watched a show that has made me laugh SO SO hard, outloud and uproariuosly...than this show. It is just that funny! I'm sure you understand!😂😂😂
She decided to leave keeping up appearances because she wanted to stop while people still loved the show. She went on to work in other roles on television and in the theatre so she didn't exactly disappear. Now she's in her nineties and semi retired that's not sad thats a life well lived...
I met Patricia in the fall of 2012 in the coffee line after the service at a cathedral in southern England. I was so shocked to see her there and addressed her as “Hyacinth Bucket”, got a look, apologised and could not remember her name-in Canada, she was Hyacinth! Patricia forgave me and was very gracious as we chatted. I just never expected to see anyone famous at church.
........my now deceased Mother LOVED HYACINTH BOO-KAY......it reminded so much of her OWN close neighbor who was so insecure of her own self/ + envious - that she couldn't help herself copying EVERYTHING we did..........sad really I suppose, but we all gained enjoyment from watching her.
The video itself is very well done and informative. Her wonderful singing ability should have been mentioned and the use of the word SAD is highly inappropriate. Magnificent would far better summarize her career.
Yes, she had a wonderful voice and singing ability, I thought that should have been mentioned too and was hoping it would be highlighted. Otherwise a very interesting and informative video.
@@johnferguson4089 Over the years I must have watched each episode at least 20 times. And every time I watch one, I enjoy it as much as I did the first time. Additionally, all of the other members of the cast were excellent too. I cannot think of anyone I would have replaced.

I have watched a few of her performances, nothing like Hyacinth's off key singing voice at all.... I also liked her as Kitty in the Talking heads series. I could see a lot of a Future Hyacinth coming out in that role.
She is not sad. She puts her trust in Jesus Christ. Her’s will be a life very well lived. Her Monologues in Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads are amazing, poignant, funny and sad all at the same time.
Thoroughly enjoyed this but it would have been improved by letting her speak and hearing her sing as she was operatically trained, had a beautiful voice and this was not mentioned, nor her work with Victoria Wood
This headline is offensive! There is nothing "SAD" about Dame Patricia's current life. At the wonderful age of 94, she is still full of memories of bygone achievements, and she lives on in the dvd's we have of her performances. I watch Hetty Wainthrop every few years just for the joy of watching her when the light of solving the mystery hits her!
Thank you. Well compiled. However, forget the click bait! Not necessary. Sad, I think not!. Also, her name is pronounced ROWTLEDEGE not ROUTLEDGED! Cheers
What viewers may not know is that she is also a suberb singer of classical music. Watch her appearance in the Michael Parkinson chatshow via a fabulously funny song called "I Want To Sing In Opera". It's a hoot available on UA-cam. Word to Presenter: shamefully and inexcusably you constantly mispronounced the lady's surname, except at the end. Shoddy workmanship. Furthermore the tribute was heavily overlong; you repeated yourself several times; overall you tiresomely got in the way.

Wonderful actress who has given great joy to do many. A real blessing.
She's 95, so unsurprisingly we don't see her much these days. She was excellent in early Victoria Wood sketch shows.
People stopped calling her because nobody orders Chinese take-away food anymore.
