It's April, 2024. I'm still watching KEEPING UP APPEARANCES, enjoying the performances of all...
but, this woman, Dame Patricia Routledge, is still one of Great Britain's Greatest National Treasures. She still ranks as one of THE funniest, most talented women I have ever seen.

I remember seeing Patricia Routledge in the 70's in a Noel Coward Review! All the music was in this vein. The production was recorded so PR's renditions live on forever.
A neighbour had the pleasure of attending a wedding where Ms Rutledge was a delightful fellow guest
I served this lovely lady when i worked in Greenwich, she was working across the road at the Greenwich Theatre. I remember her being very unassuming and asked to be sat in the corner and order a bowl of soup with bread and read the newspaper. A lovely lady and much deserved damehood.

As a child I was bullied and going through a bad time, everytime I used to watch her as hyacinth bucket in keeping up appearances she bought so much joy and hysterics and her antics were hilarious. What a marvellous actress and great character in real life as well. I didn’t know she was such a prolific actress as I was only 11 I found that out later. I adore her. She’s 1 of a kind.

I love her and I found it ironic that the lovely Clive Swift who played her on screen husband Richard came from less than ten miles away from Dame Patricia, her coming from Birkenhead and Clive and his equally famous brother David from Wavertree in Liverpool.

I’ve met her several times at the MacMillan Celebration of Christmas at Christchurch in Oxford, I get a ringside seat because of my wheelchair, can’t see the podium but whoever is doing the readings waits right next to me. Afterwards there’s drinkie-poos where you can talk to the guests. I think it might well be either on here or on Google

This just gave me so much energy.
I have always marveled at Patricia Routledge. There have been few actors who are more talented or have as much range. Have you heard her "Not On Your Nellie"? Or "Take Care of This House"? I have played them hundreds of times. I could play them right now and be transported all over again. At first glance, Patricia seems a bit unlikely. But when you behold her turns in Talking Heads, or with Victoria Wood, as well as her Hetty, and Hyacinth, and her Ruth and so many dozens and dozens of other roles in every medium - you come away amazed. That is not just a successful career, that is a life lived as few others have done...
She is one of my top ten favourite human beings of all time :)
