- Keeping Up Appearances In My Lada - Visiting The House of Hyacinth Bucket.
A drive around the village of Binley Woods, Coventry to see where Keeping Up Appearances was filmed. As well as visiting The Bucket Residence we also visit Onslow's House!

Mrs Bucket: " I will not have people parking inferior quality Russian cars outside my house. Richaaaaard go out and tell them to move on. I'm expecting the vicar for tea and light refreshments."
@craigsouthwell3484. And then the way Richard would reluctantly tell them always made me laugh.
One of the best funny TV shows ever.😅😅❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
THE BOUQUET RESIDENCE THE LADY OF THE HOUSE SPEAKING! Oh it's you Rose.
Keeping Up Appearances is one of my favorites.
I'm American. If I ever get the chance to visit England, Hyacinth's house is on my list to see! I love Keeping up Appearances!
Thank you for joining me! I hope you get the chance to visit Mrs Bucket's house!
Wish they made more episodes!
My Bucket list
@@HenrysAdventures It's BOUQUET..... 😂😍🥰
Just for a week should do it ❤🎉 enjoy 🏴 🇬🇧
Love it. I still watch reruns of the sitcom and it was awesome that you found the actual houses and shared them.
Well I'm Australian of English mostly descent and my Grandmother, and my oldest Sister was both like Keeping up appearances. In fact when I first watched it, I thought the show could've been made about my Grandmother who born in 1893, it was her Grandmother who had come to Australia from Manchester. A great show.
I loved the show. I bought the dvds hysterical! ❤ 😊
I noticed somebody admiring the Lada at the end.
Russian agent, probably...
How surreal to see Hyacinth and Richard's house in actuality.
I love the show so much.
Thanks for posting.
So sad the houses have been altered, I always think they should be preserved for prosperity when used in a tv series but they are private houses at the end of the day. I wish you could have visited a few more locations such as the vicarage, church hall and the hotels they went to. I love the Australian soap Neighbours and sadly those houses have been altered. With regard to your Lada, park it wherever you like and bugger the bloody snobs! Thanks for visiting the bucket house, oops I mean the ‘bouquet residence’. Best wishes from Sheffield.
Yeah that’s true!
Thank you very much for watching. Its possible in the future I may visit some of the other locations but thought I'd start with the most important. Oh I do park my Lada where I like, most people are pleased to see a rare car. Only a few snobs don't seem to like it.
Can you make more videos on keeping up appearances locations?
A lot of people in Britain do not care about TV shows, and they will go to every effort to destroy them. The guy that owned the land that was the set of "Telletubbies" bulldozed the hill and then turned the land into a pond and put a huge fence up to keep people out. Here in USA houses are bought for hundreds of thousands of dollars over market value BECAUSE of the fact it was used in a TV show or movie.
If you buy the house then it's yours to do up
Keeping Up Appearances is one of my favorite shows. Thanks, Henry, for taking us on the tour. I was thinking about the house that was used as Hyacinth's house. If I was the owner of that house, I would get an interior decorator to duplicate the house on the inside to look just like the original sets. That would be so cool!
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! That would be an interesting thing to do.
I often wondered where the houses were and so happy you showed us what they looked like now and where they are. You a great chap. Wish I could meet up with you when I am in the UK again to show me around!
wow onslow's house and the ones arround it have been changed a lot from the run down look of the 90s
And it’s nice to see Onslow and Daisy house i remember the dog in the car always barking at Hyacinth 🤣 and gate funny Hyacinth always says to Richard leave it leave it 🤣
Thank you again! Yes, that was always funny whenever they visited Onslow and Daisy! :)
I'm from New York City and even I grew up watching Keeping Up Appearances. They used to air this show and Mr. Bean as well as other Brit shows like Dr. Who, Monty Python and Benny Hill. I love those shows so much that when UA-cam started in 2005 I immediately searched these shows and now I'm even a fan of other Brit shows like The Eastenders, Top Of The Pops, Ali G, and even that famous Cake Baking show you guys have that I forgot the name of. Good on you mates for being so good in Comedy, Music and creating our language that we speak here in the states. Cheers.
Thank you very much! Great to hear you're enjoying our British comedy in America.
Very big in the 80's and 90's were Minder and Only fools and horses. Minder started out as a fairly serious show about someone who protected a minor villain but gradually morphed into comedy. Only fools and horses were about a struggling working class family which the BBC wanted to finish after series 1 as the BBC were a bit posh/stuck up.
@@saltspringrailway3683 Thanks for those two suggestions. I'm on it immediately like flies on horse shit.
We went past the Bucket House back in 2019. Being from Australia, it was a highlight to see the house.
Thank you for watching! Glad to hear you're also been there.
I had a Lada in the 80s went everywhere and one year it snowed and it still didn't stop it
I had a Lada Samara in the 90s, one of the most reliable cars I ever owned, even in the coldest of winters
Thank you for this video. Nostalgic to see both houses. I was expecting Hyacinth to barge out the front door and ask you to shift your wreck...the Lada😀
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for posting that. It was great to see the houses and area where the show was taken. Most people would never see it otherwise.
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
Thanks for the tour I enjoyed it very much I wish they hadn't passed away but I guess like my mother said to me on her dying bed and I was crying she said you want me to live forever and I thought about it she was 98 years old and I didn't know what to say and now I'm 90 I see what she was talking about but some people you wish they would live longer God bless everyone.❤❤❤❤
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! Patricia Routledge is still alive but most of the rest of the cast have now passed away.
Loved the show! I still watch it from time to time, despite knowing the show inside out. What a great character Hyacinth was. Also loved the second Rose, the drama! 🤣 All the characters were fabulous, and despite almost always getting her comeuppance, she managed to bounce back again. Then again, she never learned either....but who would want a matured, PC Hyacinth?
She and the show were much loved here in Canada. How fun you got to visit the house 😊
Thank you for joining me! It was a great show and glad to hear I've enjoyed in Canada! :)
@@HenrysAdventures I forgot to mention the note on your Lada was a great story, absolutely hilarious! How someone can be so snarky, entitled and snobby, yet so inclusive (language)...now that's a special talent indeed🤣
I've never seen a Lada here in Canada, I think it's quite funky and unique.
Do you have any plans to visit the Vicar of Dibley's village? Another favourite of mine. What a charming area.
I loved watching Keeping up Appearances here in California on Friday nights. Friday nights was Britcom night and Are you being served was also another one that was shown. Great Video, thank you!😊
You're welcome! Thank you very much for watching! :) I always enjoyed Keeping Up Appearances!
Brilliant programme. Thank you and regards from Denmark.
I used to live by Abington park where the church and church hall are. (Opposite the Abington park pub on the Wellington road) They also filmed at Weston Favell in Northampton one time when they were chasing daddy. The cast visited my school during that film but sadly it was the summer holidays
These houses should have plaques on them!
Thank you for watching! I agree!
I'm going to my garage to give my Red 1992 Riva 1.5 L Estate a pat. As the owner of 4 Ladas (all RHD) and former Lada mechanic, I enjoyed this video for a different reason to most 😊
Thank you for joining me and always nice to hear from another Lada owener!
Brilliant video Henry - Keeping Up Appearances was a brilliant series
Thank you very much! I agree, very funny!
My favorite Hyacinth encounters outside this house was with the scared mailman who would rather throw her the mail from afar but could not because he had bring it to her door as per government rules where Hyacinth would swiftly open her door to surprise him. Also, their father Daddy getting lost all the time was hilarious. Quick trivia answer. The hat Onslow wore for most of the seasons that had an FH on it was given to him as a gift in Australia when he went down there during the show's run. Cheers from New York City.
Thank you for watching and the info on Onslow's hat.
I’m not sure those are government rules. Ours just stick the post wherever you ask them too. Not like that haha but whatever you say they put it there
I wish I could visit that location brings back so many memories ❤️🥹💯
Thank you for watching! :)
Excellent Henry what a fabulous comedy that was. Very informative great to see the houses where they filmed and your commentary. 😊
Thank you very much! I always used to enjoyed Keeping Up Appearances! :)
This was great....Loved this show....Thanks so much Henry ❤
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! :)
This is brilliant
Thank you for joining me!
Another American, loved that show. Thanks for the video.
You're welcome! Thank you for watching!
We loved our old Lada! Never noticed anyone objecting to us parking it anywhere but did notice that nobody liked to be behind us on the highways. We did notice one guy holding his nose, as he eventually passed us. Silly SOD. Cheers from Ontario Canada.
Thank you for watching! Good to hear from someone from Canada who's driver a Lada! I expect they're rare in Canada now?
What an absolutely delightful video and a true blast from the past. Well done 🎉 and loving your Lada 🚘
Thank you for joining me! Glad you enjoyed it and my Lada!
Thanks for your time and your efforts that you put on this. Really, it is a great little experience .
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
Didnt realise it was filmed in Cov till recently. I am nearby next week, will be going to take selfies. Last time I was near Cov saw the worlds fastest shed!
This is legendary! I am from Finland, and me and my parents and siblings used to watch Keeping Up Appearances back in the day together. It holds such a sentimental value for us, as i am sure for everyone.
I remember they tried to do a remake or a "young Hyacinth" series some years back. I remember seeing the pilot episode but it was not at all the same thing.
Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! I remember that "Young Hyacinth" episode a few years ago.
Wow, Thanks for taking us to this home, I LOVED watching this show, it was in rerun's of course when I saw it, but I find British comedy to be quite different from the States.
Interesting how the house has changed over the years. I wonder if they get much traffic to this home at times.
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! I always enjoyed KUA and it was great to see the house.
Hyacinth: Richard, I will not have waving to neighbours wearing dirty gardening gloves.
Richard: They’re gardening gloves, they tend to get dirty when gardening.
Hyacinth: Well can’t you have one pair for gardening and one pair for waving?
Very cool video and great to see these houses now. Hi from Sydney Australia. I used to love that show.
Thank you for joining me!
A friend of mine appeared in one of the first episodes. I wish l knew which episode. Thanks for the laugh.
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
Oh my word I use to watch Keepin Up Appearances 15 years ago and saw it again in 2020/21, "The Boquet residence the lady of the house speaking!" I do remember those episodes that Hurse was when his rolls was getting a gear box change. Elizabeth was always nervous when it came to her kitchen when the phone rings she drops it on the floor and she be in horror. Blimey Onsows house look so much different recladding and a new driveway always remember Hyacinth falling into the bushes. Also Henry might be interesting to know is that one episode when Hyacinth and RIchard picked up the commodore at a station it was Leamington Spa. Use to love the series. Great video Henry big like from me.
Thank you for watching. Yes Leamington Spa Station was once featured and so was Warwick in a different episode.
My observation is if you look at the front of Elizabeth’s house, when looking out of the front window, you would not have been able to look into Hyacinth’s front drive, garden or front door as Elizabeth did in the tv series.
Thoroughly enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for filming and uploading this video (a Mexican-Russian-Dutch viewer).
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
Great stuff David, I'm going to look some of those K.U.A episodes on you tube.
Your Lada's looking great 👌, top man 👍
Thank you very much! :)
Thank you for sharing this, they look like lovely places to live.. my favorite episode is the where Hyacinth gets a house alarm.. the alarm salesman was great..👍
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! I remember that episode. The alarm salesman was played by Ian Lavender, best known for playing Pike in Dad's Army.
I was so excited seeing you drive down that road!!! I felt like I was there! Hi, from Nashville. Keeping Up Appearances is still funny to me. I watch it over and over again. I know every episode! Thank you for the visit.
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Henry, I just found this video of yours. Keeping up appearances is one of my favorite British shows. It would have been nice to see Sheridan and Elizabeth's husband once. The houses don't look a thing like in the show. I wish Violet was in the show more. Now try to find the place Jean and Lionel lived in As Time Goes By. Another favorite. I have both on DVD.
Thank you for watching! I agree, I always wonder what unseen characters look like so I was pleased Violet made some appearances.
Those houses will always be worth more because of the fame. They made that entire street real estate hot !
Salut Henry👋👋😃 generația de aventuri au avut foarte multe vizualizări peste unu(K)💻🎥 FELICITĂRI👏👏👏🎉
Thank you very much! :)
Love it, thanks! I still play the DVDs of this series from time to time. I’m sure there are more interesting filming location from this series? Best British comedy except Mr Bean.
You're welcome! Thank you for watching!
Thanks for sharing safe as you travel on the roads
You're welcome! Thank you for watching!
That was interesting Henry I always thought the house was near London it was great to see where they filmed 👌
Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed it! :)
Interesting loved the show ❤
Thank you so much for this tour. I used to think they shot at a studio. Love the program. The good old "Bucket" lady. lol
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
Thanks for this ride-along. I wanted to tell you to "Mind the pedestrian!" as you drove. Did Hyacinth come out and tell you they did NOT order takeaway?🥡 Love this show!❤
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! Loved all the things like that Hyacinth said!
Wow. Great video!
It’s incredible because the street during filming look really posh but the reality is it’s just a normal street.
KUA is hilarious. They are/were great actors also. I can't believe the audacity of car snobs. My hubby has driven our Skoda for many years. A different car IK, but there's still a stupid snobbery. Be proud of your car 😊Thanks for the vlog. Btw, I think Hyacinth would approve of your Lada as it's very clean and well kept😊 New sub here😊
Thank you very much for watching and subscribing! :) Skoda seemed to attract the same attention as Ladas but now we're the ones laughing. I'm very proud of my Lada, it's been a great car for 10 years now! :)
Great video again Henry as I loved Keeping up appearances.
Thank you very much! Same here!
Fantastic, thank you for showing us
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
thanks for the neighbor tour.. Brings back memories from the show.. Maybe you can find her sister violet house on one of your adventures..
Thank you for joining me! Glad it brought back the memories!
Brilliant seeing the bloke actually living at Elizabeths!
Excellent job. A really informative video.
Thank you very much!
Loved this clip!! The anxiety/anticipation as he was driving along! He seems a really nice guy, too.
Thank you for joining me! Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful video, i cherished the series and nice to see the updates.
Thank you for joining me! I always enjoyed the series so it was nice to be able to show everyone the house today.
Thanks for the video Henry ,great to see these houses from the show 😊
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! :)
Keeping Up Appearances is one of my favorite shows. Thanks for this upload I enjoyed it very much.
You're welcome! Same here, thank you for joining me!
@@HenrysAdventures Maybe in the future you can video more Keeping Up Appearances filming locations.
@@mr.classicalmusic5607 Its something I'll consider doing.
Great to see the old locations where these series was made
Is it not the case where the outdoor scenes were shot outside and the inside was in the studio like a lot of them were
Great video it’s great to see that Hyacinth and Richard bungalow sort off looks the same ah Mrs bucket 🤣 it’s bouquet 🤣. There you go Elizabeth try not to drop the cup and saucer will you dear 🤣
Thank you very much! :) Hyacinth was a funny lady and I always felt sorry for Elizabeth!
@scotty19. And she always did.
Nothing wrong with a Lada I love Lada's there were the best cars going in the hayday
Thanks so much for sharing
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
Brilliant programme
Thank you!
Henry i enjoyed your video and "your Lada" . I am from the States and love the BBC and British cars !
Thanks for the video.
You're welcome! Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed it! :)
My Grandad used to have a Lada car. And so did my Dad that he really loved it so much. Shame that you can’t get that car anymore as things are changing.
Thank you! They were a very popular car once and in some countries still are.
Great information!
I live in the west Midlands and I always had a hunch that it was filmed around here after I saw one street scene involving Onslow and I saw what looked like a Travel West Midlands bus go past in the background.
Thanks for putting my mind at rest.
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
Thanks for this I enjoyed it very much, greetings from Benjamin from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! I was in the Netherlands last week and had a great time.
Great video! Thanks for showing this. Loved that show. And damn you're handsome...😊
You're welcome! Thank you very much for joining me! :)
I watched the whole series and remember all episodes you comment on. Agree was great show.
Thank you very much!
Great video, i also enjoyed the one you did a few years back showing us the Enfield Poltergeist house as well as the property that featured in the movie .
Thank you for joining me! I'm glad you enjoyed that one to. I hope to make more videos likes this in the future.
Enjoyed your video very much anything else similar would be very interesting. Thanks once again.🙂👍👍👍
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! I've since done a similar video of the One Foot in the Grave houses.
Oh, I so enjoyed watching every episode.
Lada is a good brand, I especially like the Niva.
Thank you for joining me! Glad you enjoyed it. Ladas are great but this is a Riva not a Niva. The Lada Niva is the little 4x4.
The house used as Mrs. Sonia Barker-Finch's residence is actually two houses to the right of Elizabeth Warden's house. On the show, they presented that house as being diagonally across the street from Hyacinth's house. In reality, it is actually on the same side of the street as Hyacinth's house, the 2nd house to the left of Liz's house.
Thank you for watching and the info. I don't recall much Mrs Barker-Finch's house being show other than it was known to be across the road. Any idea which episode it appeared in?
Really enjoyed this Henry, loved seeing the houses, I used to work in Leamington on occasions and some of their outings were filmed their, and I have to say I love your car, try not to look too smug when you pass recent reg Range Rovers and BMW''s etc that have broken down [ usually with complex electrical issues } !!
Thank you for joining me! They did once film at Leamington Spa Railway Station and on another occasion Warwick so I can imagine most of the other scenes were filmed in the area. Glad you like my car, I do from time to time pass more modern cars which have broken down. While my car isn't perfect, if it does have a problem its usually easy to sort out.
Happy you didn't get arrested for Kerb Crawling, Henry. Great video. Subscribed. Cheers from the states. Peter.
Thank you!
Thank you for the tour! I guess what the British call a larder (for an old model car), well call a clunker 😂. Merry Christmas from New York City 💖!!!
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! Its a Lada, a Russia built car which is now rare in the UK. At the time they were a car which people link Onslow would have driven, hence me saying she wouldn't approve of it. Belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I think the cruise episode was the best
Mr Hyacinth Bucket (Richard) drove an early 1990's Rover 214 or 216. For the era they were actually nice cars. I had one on loan for several months in 1990. I think it was a 214 SLi 5 door. Pretty basic but the front windows were electric, and powered steering. Unusual in that era for cars in that class / market segment.
Thank you for joining me and the info on their cars.
Very interesting, thank you. And you didn't have to worry about brushing up against someone's expensive wallpaper.
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me!
I first found Hyacinth’s house by coincidence when heading to the nearby Coventry stadium (now derelict). The area somehow felt familiar so I turned off the Rugby road, explored the back streets and there it was! Onslow and Daisy’s, in Stoke Aldermoor I’ve been past too. Loved KUA as a child and still do, got them all on DVD.
Thank you for watching! I've always enjoyed watching KUA over the years over and over again.
Daddy likes "Keeping Up Appearances" along with " Are You Being Served?", "Mr. Bean".
Thank you for watching! All great sitcoms!

Thank you for joining me! :)
I think it was during S3. Daddy and Mrs Clayton. The former has a sign “If you love me let me know”. Later on, they come back down the road with the sign poking out of the car and Hyacinth receives wolf-whistles. Where Daddy was walking up and down with the placard was Bush Hill, Northampton. The car journey was to the bottom of it too. My great-aunt and uncle (now gone) lived there. They and their neighbours were approached for permission for filming there by the BBC. Their yellow gate is partially in a wide-shot in the finished episode. Everyone down the street had to be instructed on continuity etc. They saw some of the filming from their house but the stars were barely seen barring when filming. I think it was around August 1992. I believe the Church Hall was also in Northampton too.
Thank you for joining me and thank you for the information on the filming.
Hey thanks for doing this. From California 🇺🇸, I love this show and was always curious about the house that was used in the series. Here’s a challenge, go hunt down the Honeysuckle cottage as well as Ms.Fortescue’s ( I’m not spelling that right) home. That could be part two.
You're welcome! Thank you for joining me! I've had some other requests to visit some of the other filming locations so I'll see what I can do in the future.
Fantastic Henry.
Really enjoyed that, thanks for the tour.
