Top accolade will always go to John Bonham in any poll, but for me the best British out & out Rock drummer has to be Ian Paice. His technical ability was/is quite flawless & he was arguably ahead of his time. However, for actual technique, Innovation & how he evolved through his time, my Top Prize would go to Neil 'the professor ' Peart ~ Just my opinion, of course.
I understand the personal choices and stuff.. of course the aliens like Colaiuta and Porcaro are out of the list, as they go far beyond any possible category, but at least Carl Palmer should have been mentioned..

What's missing most here, of course, is Don Brewer! (Grand Funk Railroad) - the main boss and the main teacher, as well as the motivator of all the other rock, high-speed drummers, starting with John Bonham, Bill Ward and Ian Paice, etc., and also, then, the entire army of metal, as well and thrash metal drummers! It was he who was the first, back in 1968, to start playing extremely fast, spectacular parts and technical drum solos, at cosmic speed! (even now, 50 years later, few do!) He is the founder and forefather of hard, tough and technical drumming! This is GFR, and the Brewers, in the late 60's, first started playing long, fast, heavy, metal, consider thrash stuff, with an emphasis on the downbeat, on the snare! (which was later adopted by absolutely all groups playing Thrash Metal!) And LZ, DP, PF, BS and everyone else, for example, in those days, in 1968-1969, still played ordinary, leisurely, heavy rhythm & blues, with psychedelic elements ... There was not yet a strong emphasis on the rhythm section, and in particular on the drums! Don Brewer was the first to record a killer, high-speed solo right on the album! (Moby Dick, in LZ, with Bonham's solo, the drum was launched half a year later and was launched as a response, i.e. a design for SKF and Don Bruhr, where they even did the construction of things 1 in 1, like SKF: several squares of reef + drum solo + killer code) ua-cam.com/video/niQwjA3ElYM/v-deo.html - Into The Sun (1970) ua-cam.com/video/egkix7xN0t8/v-deo.html - T.N.U.C. (1970) Brewer also sang coolly, and at the same time was the author of words and composer, i.e. frontman, along with guitarist Mark Farner. ua-cam.com/video/rwsgznR_T-g/v-deo.html - The song We're An American Band - This is his song, for the first time among all American rock groups and performers of those times, which appeared in 1973 in 1st place in the hit parade, leaving behind all the British. “Trash” translated from American slang means “to bludgeon, to pound,” and every concert of theirs in those days, mainly in stadiums or in Madison Square Garden, with the obligatory straw of Don Bruhr, it was sold out, trash and a complete sensation! They sold 55,000 tickets in 2 hours! (a record of that time that even the Beatles did not have!) And LZ, DP, BS, PF, UH, as well as their drummers, in those days, in the early 70s, could not even dream of this!!! Then, simply because of their greedy and dishonest producer, as well as because of internal problems, they broke up... They began to be forgotten, consigned to oblivion, belittling their enormous contribution to the development of heavy rock, and the rhythm section (this was the best rhythm section those times) bass and, especially, in the development of drums! Well, and most importantly, in the early 70s, all over the world, all knowledgeable and understanding people, fans of rock music, as well as musicians, considered the best drummer in the world not John Bonham, not Bill Ward or Ian Pace, but Don Brewer!

As a music teacher that I am for so many years already I just have something to say, that The Greatest Drummer of all times was , is and will always be The One and only Mr Neil Peart🎼🥁🎵🥁🎼🥁🎵🙌🙌‼️
En tout respect, vous avez oublié Dennis Wilson de Beach Boys, Clive Burr (premier drummer d'Iron Maiden), Sascha Tukatsch de Platinum Blonde, John Panozzo de Styx et le drummer de Ramones.😊
Phil Collins definitely and also there are some other very good classic drummers Jeff Pocaro (Toto), Caroline Corr (the Corrs), Debbie ? (The Bangles), Don Henley, Karen Carpenter. Which Roger Taylor is being referred to Queen or Duran Duran?
Cozy Powell, Tommy Aldridge, Mike Portnoy, etc etc
Et Cozy Powell ?
Glad to see Paicey on this list!!!
Cozey Powell should've been on here too.
Neil Peatr about Carl Palmer: I will never be able to play as Carl.
Buddy Rich about Carl Palmer: Never seen such precision, technique, speed and power,
i saw him do a drum solo once- speed and precision beyond what my eyes could believe- and tasteful too!
I agree, Ian Paice is the best rock drummer while Carl Palmer is the best progressive rock drummer.
John bonham & keith moon. The 2 greatest drummers, but thats just my personal opinion.
In rock yes.with Collins❗🎶
Love your opinion!
but you're right.
Moon was a clown and could not have played with anyone else......same with Bonham but he was highly skilled

Ringo Starr and Charlie Watts, definitely the most loved drummers but ranked 10 and 11...

John Bonham, Neil Pert, and then all the rest.

Carl Palmer….Simon Phillips….Terry Bozzio…..glaring omissions.
