Okay but I REALLY cant agree with this list. After witnessing Tool live Simi-recently I can say for a fact that the #1 spot deserves to go to Danny (aka: the octopus). At the concert there was a whole 10-15 minute break put in place just so Danny could show off. I will never Ever forget that part even If I do forget the rest of the show Danny's drum solo will forever stay in my head!

I don’t agree with your list and the positioning. Drumming you want to hear dynamics soft and loud not all loud, you want to see and hear doubles , flams , mixed sticking , being used to give the music more
Color and flare. You want an drummer that can hold a series of solid ostenatos and have independence to express and comp. There are few out there at possess all these. But one must listen to a wide range of music and hear the differences
My guys did not research. The first clips of Iron Maiden (Run to the hills) showed Clive Burr not Nicko McBrain. They also put the title 'Run to the hills' when he was playing a smaller kit, it was actually the 'Trooper'

Are you actually serious? Danny Carey is only number 8?! I might have my Tool fan blinders on but Carey is one of the greatest and most intricate drummers ever. He can master some of the most difficult pieces of music. Try playing in some of those time signatures he does. Listen to Ticks and Leeches if you want to hear the sheer talent he has. I'm not saying the other drummers don't belong on the list, but 8 is WAAAY too low for someone of Danny Carey's caliber.

I agree, Danny Carey's beats are some of the most intricate and complicated in metal. I guess if WatchMojo made a top 10 list of the most SKILLED or CREATIVE drummers in addition to this one (which seems like a list of the most INFLUENTIAL drummers), Carey would top the list no question.
Danny Carey is hands down top 3 and should be first in my opinion. His tight timing, his unusual sense of tempo change, and his overall technical ability are far better than Lars. #8 is an insult.

I totally agree with Dave Lombardo at#1. No one comes close. Maybe Motorhead Philthy Animal Taylor was a beast on early Motorhead albums and concerts. He had a wicked groove , plus he played in the loudest band in the world. John Bonham was a legend and backbone of led Zeppelin . Kreator got an awesome drummer. Imagine Kreator and Slayer on the same bill.

Actually there is. At least Lars has a much smaller kit ensuring that he hits every single piece on it, while Mike has a huge kit which is so big he does not use all of it more than once every album.

These videos by mojo are dumb. This girl talks way too much and there is too little drumming. As well, the clips they do show are terrible at showing these drummers skills. They show the chorus to Panama, get real how about the intro to hot for teacher. The non-mixed clip of Portnoy at a demonstration, how about Under a Glass Moon or any of his songs. Besides they show Mangini instead of Portnoy. Anyone with a camera can be in the media these days. Sheesh.

How can you possibly forget the Greatest Of All Time himself, Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe?! That man is a legend! His solos and his show will blow your mind! He deserves to be #1 because he is that epic, and after you watch even one video of him you will never forget it! Tommy Lee has surely been an inspiration for many great drummers everywhere.
In fact, he is so great, that there should be an entire video dedicated to his Top 10 best drum solos of all time, but I know why there isn't. It's because it is impossible to choose between all of Mr. Lee's legendary performances.
Nevertheless, he deserves to be included (preferably at #1) on this list. No offense to the other drummers because they are all great, but none of them can touch the talent that is Mr. Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe!!!
