I totally agree with you 100% on that one! He should've EASILY been in the top 3...at the very least! How..... just how..... could he have been overlooked like that? It's totally pathetic, when someone takes one of the TOP Drummers of all time, and trashes him like he's nothing, by leaving him off of the TOP 30 like that! Even Lars Ulrich made this list.
How did that happen? And the , the King of the Double Basses, Tommy Aldridge, gets left off of the list. He was slammin' the skins for Black Oak Arkansas, long before some of these Drummers were even thought of!

In such cases, for the full effect of music the drums are just as important as the guitars. Honestly, I think Mikkey Dee's greatest strength is his ability to integrate himself into the different bands he's been in. He sounded great in King Diamond, then adapted himself to really fit in with Motorhead while sacrificing none of his talents, then did the same thing with the Scorpions. He was always a great player, but he brought something to every band he played with, and that's not, IMO, all that common. Glad to see him there. Also, Neil Peart is not someone whom I'd consider a metal drummer per se, but he's so freaking good that he places third on a metal list all the same! RIP Mr. Peart, you are missed.

It's great to see absolutely brilliant drummers from bands we love and that I guess shaped our lives in some sort of way...My soft spot is for Bill Ward, a guy that without me knowing, created my Black Sabbath love through drums of Jazz, swing ( like Philty Phil in Motorhead Ace of spades), gallop beats etc.& with his fills of being a comp drummer...made it difficult for others to copy him as Vinnie Appice said to him. I saw a collection of drumsticks from many rock & metal drummers...and Bill Wards seemed to be rim & Symbol chipped around the handle area...which I guess he was a reverse holder....pretty sure in this clip so was Nick Menza from Megadeth. Love Cozy Powell's drums on "TYR" album Black Sabbath...so dominant but apt for the music and themed album...long may they live in our memories!❤

And from that point of view there is a clear winner, Mark Zonder. The guy who can keep the beat AND play a part, he makes all the songs much more interesting because it's never simple to follow, even a 2/4 or 4/4.
