Definitely better than the 250 greatest guitarists lists that Rolling Stone put out recently
I feel like the only guitarist this list is missing is Tom Verlaine, otherwise perfect
The Rolling Stone’s list was literal trash
@@chasebriscoefan14it felt like an april fools prank fr
@@arkhamguard6479Trey Anastasio is literally better than 50% of this list.
The Rolling Stones is very trash and rubbish
When you see Kurt Cobain ranked higher than Al Dimeola, you know it's a joke list. 😂
Hey it is better than the rolling stone list
No Gatton or Buchanan as well. It's only a list of who he's heard of .
Joanna Connor would cut heads of most this list but she's just another underrated gem.
@@broadwayking👉ANY LIST is better than Rolling Stones lists.👈🎯
Woke puke matters not.
Not the cutest chick either. 😅😂@Fnstine
Vous marquez un point.
Gary Moore criminally underrated, must be in top 30 at least
Also Robert Fripp from King Crimson
Most defently Gary Moore is the greatest
Agree
You mean P1 at least
John Petrucci is much better than him and isn’t even on the list
There's a lot of really great jazz guitarists who deserve to be here (alongside Django and Benson), Wes Montgomery, John McLaughlin, Pat Metheny just to name a few
How do they not have John McLaughlin? Even as someone who's pretty unfamiliar with jazz, his work on those Miles Davis and Mahavishnu Orchestra records is the stuff of legend.
@@honeycomblord9384 I'm pretty much in the same position as you, I'm not too much of a jazz guy but I know of John McLaughlin and love his music
John petrucci is way better than all of them and he’s not on the list
John Scofiled and Al Di Meola too.
Definitely agree with you brother, if I am a younger and much little experience playing guitar, I will definitely agree in this list, but I heard and learn how great those Jazz Guitarist more old timers (Django, Charlie Christian heck even Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Tbone Walker). This should be Greatest Rock/Electric Guitarist
Gary Moore, Randy Rhoads, John Sykes and Buckethead are definitely in my top 10.
And Rory Gallagher
George Lynch, Jason Becker, Michael Lee Firkins, Jake E. Lee, Jeff Watson, Vinnie Moore, Michael Romeo, Uli Jon Roth, Warren DeMartini...
Randy Rhoads was gifted but it was quite a short career.
No Steve Hackett? Firth of Fifth might just be the greatest prog rock solo ever, besides Aqualung obviously,
It's one of my favorite solos
Both Martin Barre and Steve Hackett should be on here
I agree
Steve Hackett is up there and for me in the top 3 are Jeff Beck Rory Gallagher and Ritchie Blackmore
While David Gilmour is my favorite guitarist, I’m happy you included John Mayer. I feel like he doesn’t get the recognition from fans because he made radio pop songs but he really is an amazing guitarist.
Gilmour wrote fricking classic songs. John Mayer not in the same league at all as a songwriter.
@@corailgris Well it was mostly Roger Waters who wrote the songs but I agree David is the superior songwriter and guitarist. Mayer is still an incredible guitarist though.
So right he should be too 10 ridiculous!! JM IS FANTASTIC. Check him out on a Cross Roads guitar festival….where Clapton picks his favourite guitarists!!
@@brentgraham1735 He’s definitely brilliant! I mean Clapton, B.B King and others have called him a masterful guitarist and he’s toured with Grateful Dead. His music might not be for everyone but his guitar skills are undeniable.
Why is Kurt Cobain higher than Dave Mustaine?
Why is Kurt Cobain on the list ?
I’d rather see
-Roy Clark
-Derek Trucks
-Rick Derringer
-Paul Kossoff
-Jerry Cantrell

dream theater, yeah petrucci is very good.@@lucaskyte-tremblay924
Pretty good list. It makes me happy that David Gilmour received a higher spot than in other lists. I would have placed Brian May higher.
Very Surprised that Springsteen was on the list, Same with Kurt.
Agree. I'm a strong believer that a top guitarists list should be for people who fully dedicated to the guitar in some extent or other. Like Link Wray or Peter Frampton for example
Trey Anastasio is a lot better than both and got snubbed. This person doesn’t know his guitarists well enough.
I'm just as surprised
i am very happy that you put david gilmour and ritchie blackmore in that list
David is in my opinion the best to ever exist.
Lol, tell me who dont put David on the list, thats stupid if they do that 😂

Great video! Make one with like the top 50 guitar solos!
It's a crime to forget steve lukather
So glad you’re back. It’s been soooooo long. On of my fav YT channels
Blackmore is better than all the ones you put in front of him! Purple Rules! List ???😢
Beautiful video. I'll get some ideas for one of my videos! 😉
I always wonder what the criteria for lists like this is. Skill? Fame? Influence?
All the above. I'm glad it's not done purely on virtuosity.
Probably a mix, but then it‘s still weird. Like, how can one compare Dave Mustaine, B. B. King, Chet Atkins and Alex Lifeson for example?
Great point.I would have put guitar pioneers first because they had to break barriers. They did all the heavy lifting.
Somebody rolled the dice
Terry Kath should be way higher. Not sure if Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Kurt Cobain should be in the top 100.
They were
I would keep Neil Young, but you are right about the other two
Neil Young is killer with his lack of technique. Amazon riffs and those solos are worthy enough
Agreed.
Richie Blackmore is my favourite guitarist 😊
Finally! Tom Scholz on a Top Guitarist List! So underrated for Boston!

He should never be above Page. That's just silly.
Keith Richards is my favourite guitarist. He gets a bad rep these days because kids think that guitar playing is all about soloing and shredding. Keith was never a technical guy like Eddie, Page or Hendrix. Clapton, who played with him in the Dirty Mac, was objectively a better player than him. However, I don't think there has been any other riff maker as iconic as Richards. He created some of the most iconic riffs and tunes and he did that all with really simple chords and techniques. You can easily forget solos and shreds but a damn good riff never leaves your mind. Ik his playing has gotten weaker over the year but that's not even an argument, the dude's 80 years old.
Also, Mick Taylor was fking amazing too. Very underrated. He would have even surpassed Richards' career if he had done something more significant after 1974
Tony Iommi has written more and better riffs and the same can arguably be said for Jimmy Page, I love Keef though
Great list regardless of position changes. I would trade some marabalistas for Tommy Bolin and John Fahey, but it was good.
Prince is easily a top 10. Also any list that doesn't have Glen Campell and Roy Clark is not valid. Brad Paisley is awesome too. John Sykes is amazing. It's hard to rate them.

It would be better to narrow it even more by just allowing guitarists who dedicated to the guitar. Kurt Cobain was too busy being a songwriter and a front man to care about the guitar
I like that you put Adrian Belew
John petrucci is miles better than all of them
Did I miss him or is Allan Holdsworth really not included!? There's a bunch of guitarists in here who would cite him as a major influence.
Such a list without him (and a few others, Jason Becker, Shawn Lane) is a bad joke.
Yep. Eddie Van Halen being one of those for sure.

Mark knopfler is up there with the very best.

Kurt cobain over Dave mustaine?
prince is an underrated guitarist
Can you give me some good guitar songs by Prince other than “Purple Rain” & “While my Guitar Gently Weeps” cover? I keep hearing he’s great, but all I hear are his cheesy keyboard heavy songs that I despise. It can’t be just those 2 songs that his “greatness” is based on. There has to be a bunch of songs. Which are they? It would be greatly appreciated to opening my eyes to him.
@@AntonXul Look up his Creep Coachella performance
Maybe most underrated of all time. Imho his George Harrison tribute While My Guitar…just might be the most creative solo ever

I listened to this. Nothing special there.
Can someone give me a list of good guitar songs by Prince, especially Prince originals? It seems covers are his only guitar songs. If you guys are truly Prince fans this should be easy. I’m not convinced and starting to think he’s overrated. I want to learn his good guitar songs, but don’t want to go through the horrible keyboard fluff to find them. If you know them, list them.
@AntonXul Listen to "Bambi".
Steve Howe #55? For real? Santana? Lukather? Schon? Hackett? Elliot Randall? Fripp?

Tom Morello ( I think he was on the list, if he was tell me what number )
Wes Borland
Tom Morello was in, but yeah, some of these are missing here

Eric Johnson should 100% be on the list. Mike Rutherford and Zach Wylde should probably be at least be an honorable mention.
I was looking for Eric Johnson, too! I've seen him quite a few times and he's amazing!
Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes?
Thanks for including gary goat moore! He should be P1 though.
And what's so great about kurt cobain? He can't do anything!
I miss Adrian Belew on the list.
Have you ever heard of Rory Gallagher???

Good list overall, although the order of the top 20, which for sure all belong there, can be debated. Also imho Satriani for example deserves to be at least in the upper half before some other names, especially the few that I actually had to look up, and I've been listening to most of these guys for 4+ decades.
Alvin Lee played mostly notes and not chords. He should be in the top ten!

Great list but if you are talking about best guitarists you should include Jazz, Classical and other genres guitarist. Just to mention one, what about including Paco de Lucia?
Good list, but missing Steve Sackett. He pioneered tapping, the album Nursery Cryme has the first recorded instance of it, and his solo on firth of fifthe in particular is legendary.
You can’t label George Harrison and Keith Richards as better than Jo Satriani.
Its because of fame, not skills
Steve Vai Is My Favorite Guitarist 👍🏻
Nice video. Definitely better than tolling stone one. But its impossible to actually make a list of best guitarists. I just can not be done accurately.
John Petrucci not being here is kind of ridiculous. He‘s definetly a better player than most on this list, and he could definetly be argued to be more influential than most in the bottom half.
When Clapton was asked how it felt to be the greatest guitarist in the world, he said "I don't know you'll have to ask Prince".
They asked Jimmi Hendrix the same,” What’s it feel like to be known as the greatest guitarist in the world,” he said I don’t know, you should ask Rory Gallagher
And Jimi was right, Rory is the best!
So glad you respected both of megadeth guitarists(i disagree they re below kirk tho)
Tom Verlaine from Television is super underrated, one of the pioneers of the post punk guitar sound. I am also a big fan of Jerry Cantrell from Alice In Chains, and Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth

3 of my personal Mount Rushmore guitarists were in the top 4 here (Hendrix, Gilmour, and Eddie)! The only one missing was SRV at 8. Great list but I think Eric Johnson should have been on there somewhere.
Let's be honest, all of these musician rankings are really individual...
I don't think there's a "best" so-and-so of any instrument. There are people, who can play and people, who cannot and anything beyond that is personal perception.
I personally wouldn't rate Kurt Cobain over Dave Mustaine, but both of them are absolute legends, so why bother trying to put one above the other.
I'm still happy to see peeps like Ritchie Blackmore on here, nonetheless. :)
Where's Lil Wayne

What a great parade!!!!!! Thank you for considering Joe Perry. Recently some guitarist list seems to forget him. Sorry for my english.
Honestly Mick Taylor is a way better guitarist than Keith Richards is and it isn’t even remotely close
Kurt Cobain was a great artist... but to put him in top 100 guitar players, I dont think so...
Love the Kath recognition! Much deserved rarely given.
Pretty good list. There are changes I would make, but it’s a good list. Comparing guitar players is almost an exercise in futility. Different genres and different styles and different tastes make it tough, so I won’t gripe. However, I probably would have snuck Neal Schon and Billy from The Cult in there somewhere. Peace 🎉
