Neil has marked an epoch in drumming history. Never tire of listening to him in interviews explain his approach to drumming. Neil was a very genuine soul. He will be missed by those of us that had seen him live and for those that will come to know of his legend into the future, they will be inspired and changed. Thanks to Neil and Rush and thank you for sharing! Cheers

The thing that made Niel so absolutely amazing, is that he would play a two hour show and then rode his motorcycle hundreds of miles to the next gig, even when he rode in rain storms had problems from flu and his feet from being wet so long while riding but would still play a show through excruciating pain

I've never understood why Caress Of Steel was so maligned by critics and fans alike. It is one of my favorite Rush albums. It was an integral part of their growth and in my opinion, did most of the heavy lifting from 'what they were' to 'who they are now'. Criminally underrated, and a huge void in the true Rush fan's appreciation of the totality of Rush. Tolkien would've loved it!

Neil comes from my home town so I am biased but in my opinion he's the best. Very few other drummers possess his chops, limb independence, and technical skill but no others in my opinion have those qualities plus the ability to make the kit sound so very good. He is a master drum part composer as well. Did I mention that he was a great human being too?

With all my love and respect to my all time hero, I must state this: Though I have been a (self-appointed) devotee and student of Neil Peart's work for over 44 years, with him being on my mind most of my day, I have always taken serious issue with his view of his stardom. This is mentioned in this video. If I could have had a conversation with him (and Geddy and Alex), I would have said "You're famous. Grow up. Get used to it. Learn to embrace it." This adversarial view of fans is insulting and ludicrous. We finance their whole lives, making them and their families rich and comfortable. They gain a powerful voice with which they can influence others, something the average person could never have. If a living, unappreciative famous person wishes, we fans could invite them to give up this fame, wealth, comfort and influence at any time. Conversely, Henry Winkler is the model star. He is humble, appreciative and caring toward fans. He takes the time to say hello and thanks every one of them. Many more people know Henry Winkler, so It's not a matter of how big of a star one is. Every famous person should learn to be like Winkler. Limelight made for a great song, but it's truly bittersweet for me.

Good to know that the Canadian genius behind most of the great lyrics and the musical elevating of Alex and Geddy aelso made good use of the available bongos; white noise clap trap (love me that applesauce); his own take on Simmons drums (nothing wrong with them, played them once 2) and those heavy English coins to teach his fans worldwide and the rockers and mockers still around as well , how in humble persevering through it all we can help make this world better, without first doing no harm , since the only way to make all things ''nice'' and every one equal , as trees of the same size isn't by cutting them all down...for if we did we wouldn't have greats like Alex Lifeson, , Giddy Lee ( with his museum -like baseball and bass collections and all) and the professor 's RUSH to listen to...Shema!!!.

As a Rush fan since the 70s. There's a singular time in Rush's history that is quite clear and saddening. It's Rush's decision to drop Terry Brown as their producer. This marks the end of an era as a rock band into their commitment to the maddening progressive era. After Signals to Grace under pressure. From this point on Rush music stopped being played on the radio. At least where I lived. I recall hearing New world man and Subdivisions on the radio. From GUP on zero radio air play, ever! Alex's Play began to get shuffled below the heavy keyboard play of Geddy Lee. It was very saddening to hear Lifeson's playing/solos get compressed. Plus his entire sound changed. It was quite maddening to see a band hell bent on redifying itself to be a prog band. 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️

Yep. We drummers aren't musicians [joke]. Whether you're called Buddy or Neil or Vinnie or Elli [that's me], we're just illiterate animals who like hitting things. Sometimes it's a snare; often it's a ride; usually it's the bassist; occasionally it's the 'Like' button.🤭
