  • I installed the ECU Snorkels on the 2017 cT and Retro/M70 to prevent water intrusion into the barometric sensor.

    Some official information from Ural
    “The barometric pressure sensor port located on the ECU cover was designed to be water proof however for riders using their Urals year-round, especially in adverse weather conditions the sensor can potentially leak. PK IMZ will honor installation of the protective snorkel on all 2017-2018 model year Urals under warranty. Dealers are instructed to install the protective snorkels during initial assembly or during a normal service interval for all 2017-2018 models."
    "The pressure sensor protection snorkels are also readily available for customers who wish to purchase them. Pressure sensor protection snorkels are sold individually using factory PN: 56313 and can be ordered from any authorized Ural dealership or service center."
    Please contact your dealers to inquire about the snorkels.

    Thanks for sharing. I didn't know this was a problem or that they had a solution. Great info.

    Yes, it can be drowned...ua-cam.com/video/zjLk4gfEnxA/v-deo.html your way of fixing this is much more affordable than mine...when shall we take it to a stream and test it?

      @GoneUraling  5 років тому +2

      Silly, you bought a 2019 and all you had to do was glue on these snorkels to your 2015! Tell you what, I'll take the video as you ride across the Ocmulgee river.

    Wow - good info. I did not know that. I will do the same to mine. Well done and very thorough video (as usual) - thanks.

      It wasn't hard, a bit of practice placing them first works wonders.

    Hello I live in Paraguay. Where can I buy the ElectroJet ECU? I bought my Ural back then in Germany. They told me the ElectroJet ECU is not available. Thanks in advance.

    • @GoneUraling
      @GoneUraling  Рік тому

      You would need to contact Ural or a Ural dealer. I know the ElectroJet is discontinued and difficult to get, especially the right side unit. You will likely have to look for them used. Hit up sovietsteeds.com to see if anyone has one available to sell. Otherwise, you might want to talk to Ural about the GenII Keihin EFI upgrade kit. Pricey, but it works well, big improvement.

    My brother has a 2015 Gear Up, & I just picked up a 2016 as well.
    Do these have the same ECU moisture issues? I sure would like to know, so we can remedy the problem before it rears it’s head!
    Both of our bikes are Gen-1 EFI’s.
    Thanx for this great video!!! 🙏

      @GoneUraling  2 роки тому

      Unless upgraded to the Gen2EFI, they will still be running the ElectroJet EFI which is the one with the barometric pressure ports. The snorkel is an easy glue on fix, check out Heindl Engineering in Ohio, see if they have them in stock. They should be about $20 for a set.

      They'll mix if you use a big enough blender.

    So....no fording shallow streams in this set up...?
    (By "shallow" I mean anything that submerges the cylinders.)

    • @GoneUraling
      @GoneUraling  5 років тому +4

      Once you install the snorkels, you can ford up to 8 feet deep (no, you can't) and I understand it adds about 8 HP to the engine (no, it doesn't) and Ural will extend your ECU warranty to 10 years for full underwater operation (No, no they won't) and best of all, it improves fuel mileage by 20% (No, no it does not). You have my word on it! The Urals in the "Urals crossing a river" video were carefully prepped for such purpose... i.e. they cheated.

    I had NOT heard of those, I wonder why...??
    Also I wonder WHY their engineers hat not calculated this either,
    After all the design has been around since 1940 in general...!!

      I _presume_ pre-fuel injected {i.e., carburetored} models had no ECUs.

  • @alanottley

    Where did you get the kit?

    • @GoneUraling
      @GoneUraling  5 років тому +5

      Contact your Ural dealer. Mine was under warranty, I honestly don't know what their policy for sending these is going to be or at what cost. I personally think they should ship them to anyone that has a 2014 to 2018 and asks (AT LEAST to any original owner that asks) for free.

    • @alanottley

    I just bought a 17 gear up from Dave and Jon you blue moon would have those ? I don't know why am talking about this I am still trying to figure out how to get it here after spending all my money, but that looks like something needing to be done if the wife and ride in the rain.

      I'd ask Jon at Heindl to make sure they are installed. Shouldn't cost much if they are not already installed.

    Can you put too much glue and ruin the pressure sensor?

    • @GoneUraling
      @GoneUraling  4 роки тому +1

      I'm sure you could... but it would take a lot and have to be put inside the snorkel too. So long as a little is used around the outer rim, it should be fine.
