I went to Raceway on Monday and met Robby and the guys. great guys all around, super knowledgeable and nice. They are my go to for all parts and work from now on. I can not say enough positive things about Robbie and Raceway Ural!
@@GoneUraling Hey there. Bought myself a 1973 Dneipr over here in Europe. Same thing as yours but from the Ukrainian factory which closed in the '80's. Missing your explanatory videos. hope all is well?
Another great video! We built our own rack (actually it's for the dog) and tied the rear supports into where the rear grab handles bolt (a diagonal brace) and it's very sturdy. Looks like you could do the same if the current rear fender mount shows stress in the future. Thank you!
It‘s a nice looking carrier. On my ct I mounted the carrier specifically made for the 2/3 seat. It does not require drilling of extra holes as it fits to the bolts used for seat and taillight. A nice piece of equipment, the only downside is it’s hefty price.
Once I got my hands on it, the price made more sense (but still pricey). I don't mind paying for quality, especially when it is boutique made. I do hate paying for quality and getting cheap Chinese crap though, too often the case these days. This is NOT that.
Nicely detailed video, Bob. I have a set of Raceway racks for my cT. I will also sing praises for the sidecar fender rack. Raceway #10982. A large, rugged and flat surfaced rack that gives an excellent grip when man handling the sidecar. Passengers find it preferable to the factory rack when sitting on it while swinging their legs into the sidecar. The wider bolt pattern, over the factory rack, is a superior design giving greater stability. On my previous GU, the factory rack cracked. Its pressed steel just didn’t hold up to the day-to-day job of holding a 30 cal. ammo box with a couple o pounds of content. I just don’t see that in the future of Raceway’s design and construction.
Yep, my Stainless Steel rack on my Retro cracked, replaced under warranty I went back with a black one behind the seat. I may entertain updating the ones on the side car fenders one day, but today is not that day. Thanks for the comment!
You can mount that same rack on the fender or you could just drill some holes and bolt it on I have one of those on my 98 and a half and even though I don't use it I still have it in case I need it and it's stainless steel no rust only $79
I put mine on the tubs fender and put on another tractor seat and grip.. love my tractor seat... its not for everyone though who knew about the 2/3s seat.. live and learn right?
The original Ural tractor seat that came on my Retro I rode for about 1000 miles, I call it the "Buttbuster 5000". Thus my swap to the Harley Solo seat with custom bracket. However, I gotta admit the 2/3 seat is nice and comfortable too. I know some people love the tractor seats but my Indian name is "Hewhohasnobutt" so I can't take sitting on it very long.
@@GoneUraling sure get the discomfort thing.. I am lucky with this seat I guess.. hope the new owners will like it.. I moved my seat back and can rest my back a bit on the hose grab bar for the passenger .. didn't plan it that way but worked well... I did get the extra padding pad so theres that.. love the Harley Solo seat on your rig... cheers
Regarding that rack that wouldn't fit due to the seat in front of it: If you just HAD TO install that rack could you put some kind of spacers below the rack to give more clearanceclearance with the seat?
You would have to add more space in the rear and less in the front and I'm not sure what would look good as a spacer. As made, for the rack to sit level it needs to go forward and the seat blocks it. If it could go forward, all spacers would be the same size. With it having to sit further back, the rear spacers would have to be longer to keep the track level. I'm sure it could be done, but I'm not sure it would look good or be very stable.
That sounds like too much excitement for me! Worst I had happen was getting side swiped by a purple Mustang on a dirt road, broke my nose, minimal cosmetic damage to the bike, broke off the engine guard, cracked windscreen (with my nose), broke off the valve cover stud. I've no desire to go flying off a mountain. Glad it all turned out well.
Robert, now you know why me gear up does not have a rear rack...and I hope you all didn't buy that seat, have both the long flat seat and one of those in my garage... button heads are another name for evil...just saying...
The cT came with the 2/3 seat, she loved it so I didn't bother changing it. She doesn't even use the Airhawk on it! I love the raceway rear rack, though I admit it is pricey, it is well made and one would look good on your gear up!

That's great to hear, we need more GOOD Ural dealers out there!
Raceway makes all the cool things! Fortunately, they're just up the road from me.
Great videos. Please keep them coming. Jan 5th, 2021 is the latest i have. Any more that I can enjoy ?
I have been slack this year, busy, bad internet (still metered) and waiting on Starlink.

Great find and very informative. I just bought a Ural Gear Up and have a lot to learn. Subscribed - from Hells Canyon. Thanks

I originally thought that is how this would install until I looked closer. It seems solid and appears to be fine.
I would have put the tractor seat on it with the rack... Your channel got good content.... Greetings from OK
Another great video! I too, have assumed that the standard rack would fit behind the short seat. Who woulda thunk that it didn’t.
On a positive note... I did get a new sidecar fender rack for my Retro out of the whole deal. :-) Thanks for the comment.
Those come in handy. I have one on both fenders, since I use a tractor seat.

How is the 2/3 seat compared to the tractor type?
Out of curiosity what made you guys go with the plastic fuel cans instead of the metal Ural Jerry cans
The method of mounting, no rust, durable and holds 3 gallons.
Where do you source the tubs of metric bolts from? Nice rack BTW, I’ve consider putting the same one on my Gear up as I run the 2/3 seat too.
I search places like Amazon for assortments, but if I buy replacements or a large-ish quantity I go to Fastenal
