In ireland a professional dpf cleaning is 180 euros. Or proble 150 pounds dpf removed and sent off. There are serveral stages cleaning a dpf apparently they say it takes 6 hours . Ultrasonic vibration and flushes are involved. Apparently high pressure water pushes the insulation surrounding the dpf out and possible the expensive metals also

A machine wash like this is great,
but it’s an expensive job for a customer, so let’s break it down, on average, most garages charge £75 + vat per hour, if you can get a DPF off without breaking the bolts, clips etc, it can take an hour or 2 to get it off, £150 then £200 to get it flushed then another £150 to put it back on, so £500 to Wash & flush it off the car, not forgetting that, if it’s sent away it’s a 3-4 day event, so no car to use for 3-4 days,
So on a car of big miles, £500 is cash your never gonna see again,
But what we did was found a local mobile DPF cleaner, he came out to us, our Range Rover 3.0 was 60 mbar on tick over, he pumped in a LTR of LAUNCH DPF cleaner, a load of bubles and crap came out the back, the pressure went down to 5 MBars, the car was taken for a 10 min drive, the DPF was reset, the car did a natural registration whilst being driven, a massive amount of smoke came out of it and the cars been great ever since,
So no downtime from the car and only £250 and done in 75 mins.
2 years later and it’s still running great.
Like I said at the start, blowing the DPF on this machine is the best way, but ultimately it’s expensive and time consuming,

  • @tullgutten

To remove the carbon just soak it in Lye and swish it back and forth many times, flush it then a new Lye wash and rinse until clear.
Then if you have much ash in it then dilute some mutaric acid and flush for 20 minutes, it dissolves the ash completely, BUT only if you got the soot away first.
Then rinse thoroughly! And with a very slight Lye concentration as the second last rinse.
Acid will damage the catalyst over time but in 20 minutes it won't do any harm.
    Lye only cleans soot.
    Mutaric acid only cleans ash

I've had this product or a later model for 4 years now. You may think yes it can't be much to replicate it from a few basic DIY techniques, but I can assure you for a business. The regulator and the easy mounting is a key part of its design and can be unmanned and so you can get on with other work. The adaptors also are key for this to work seamlessly and can be used for all types of dpf. I've had to manufacture a few different adapters but it's main benefit is so you save a lot of time. Please get your hose and your compressor/ regulator and see if you can walk away from it 😉. The straps and mounting point are also there for a reason and the gauge goes up to 10 bar. Good luck with that also 😂

    Good video.
Please could you tell me what the expected live data pressures should be for a good dpf from a differential pressure sensor on both idle and fast idle as well as from a exhaust pressure sensor (single pipe).
We use e3 technical at work which often doesn’t give me this relevant information.
Sometimes if the pressures are too low this could indicate a cracked dpf but not knowing how low is too low makes it harder to diagnose. Although black soot within the tailpipe is usually a giveaway.

Don’t believe everything a salesman tells you, I get most DPF’s reading 0 to 3 mbar after a on car cleaning for £190 all done in 2 to 3 hours.
Red and baish ash does come out once semi desolved, the glass type ash won’t come out and it won’t come out with that machine either.
Ide say that procedure would cost around £800 all in with a under turbo DPF removal and take you off the road for around 3 days and no instant live data test drive afterwards to check for other underlying faults and don’t forget years of experience in working out what caused the DPF to stop regenerating in the first place.
In my opinion if a garage started doing this service with out having at least 2 years DPF cleaning knowledge the DPF will probably be blocked again with in 400 miles due to novices not finding the underlying issue.
Do you know that putting 5000 mbar of pressure through a DPF that has done nearly 1/4 million miles is a disaster waiting to happen, probably that what causes the flexi to blow.
The things people will do for a free DPF clean.
