This tutorial is one of the best about keying green screen on the internet so far, you explained about it in a very detail and specific way to utilize the fundamental skills and mindset of new users when using and dealing with the software and situations that they are having. Thanks a lot for your works so far. Appreciate !!
If can I hope that you can make more about VFX with fusion and the process from start to end. Your tutorials are really helpful
Thank you very much 🙂
You tell us not only how, but WHY we should use a setting. Thank you!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! :)
Not red Screen because it's too close to our skin tone
You got it right ☺️
This is the best green screen tutorial on Resolve that I have found on the internet. Thanks!
Thanks mate. I’m glad that it helped. ☺️
Very clear and helpful! Thanks. Well done tutorial
Excellent tutorial, thank you
This have to be the best Keying tutorial for Davinci all over UA-cam, thank you so much for this awesome tutorial!!!!!
Wow, thanks! :) Appreciate the support! :)
Incredible tutorial. Many thanks!
You’re welcome
your videos always awesome. thank you!
So nice of you
Amazing tutorial. Best UA-cam tutorial on green screens and keying by a long shot. Thank you for the in depth approach and explaining how tools operate and why you use them. There are many creators out there that only state what tool they use but not why - either because they don't see it necessary or because they themselves don't understand the tool. You go above and beyond sir! Subscribed and look forward to viewing more of your content. Thank you
Oh thank you so much for the compliments, Elliott. I am glad you found the video useful. And thanks a lot for the coffees! :)
Woah this was incredible definitely the best video about keying I've seen on youtube. Thank you for providing us with such value.

Thanks John.
Really it is an excellent tutorial for a beginner like me. I have seen so many tutorials, but yours is the very explanatory with a lot of patience and narrative . Thanks
I’m glad it helped. Cheers. 😌
Great tutorial, I didn't know about the 2nd media out and adding another source in colour tab! Thanks!

WOW! I have been taking Fusion class but your tutorial is at /on the other level. Thank you so much.
You’re very welcome ☺️
wow, this explained so much more than i expected. I've watched hours of tutorials on davinci resolve and i usually end up feeling so overwhelmed and even more confused, but i feel relieved after watching this one and i learned a lot. thank you SO much, this is such a fantastic tutorial.
please keep making davinci tutorials, you're a great teacher!
Glad it helped! 😊 and thanks for the encouragement. I appreciate it.

The absolute best green screen tutorial I've seen on here. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you very much! :)
Awesome video 👌
Thanks 😀
Fantastic in-depth explanation which was super clear and reasoned. This is by far the very best, definitive, explanation of green screen masking for me. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
thank you so much dude
You’re welcome mate.
Hands down, THE BEST GREEN SCREEN TUTORIAL ON YT. I would love to see a follow up video on motion tracking a green screen for a moving background.
Thank you so much 😊. I’ll make one on motion tracking soon. Cheers.
Best tuto ever
Thank you. 😊
I've been using Resolve weekly on my YT channel for nearly two years now, and I'd no idea this process even existed. Brilliant tutorial 🖐️
You're very welcome! :)
Clear knowledge
Thank you! :)
Well explained, dude.
Thanks mate
And now subscribed. I've been getting the best green screen results from your method over any other method. Again, top work.@@coffeebeanstudio
This is a great tutorial for a beginner
I still watched this entire video being an advanced user
Really nice! Hats off, excellent explanation ❤
Awesome, thank you!
thank you sir your videos are the backbone of my video editing career literally
Thanks mate. All the best for your career! :)

This tutorial is really good for understanding keying a green screen. :))
Thanks for watching! :)
COOL Video Im extremely new to davinci but have so many cool ideas with editing.
Happy to help!
I would love to see videos on doing green screens with camera movements similar to the examples in the beginning.
Ok cool. That’ll not just involve greenscreening but also tracking. I’ll prep something. Cheers
Awesome tutorial. Can you do a tutorial on tracking a green screen to match the footage ?
Best explanation of DaVinci Resolve's Delta Keyer that I've seen. Great job - Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Thank you for this. However, I'm an absolute beginner. I struggled to find the delta keyer and how you got those two screens. I feel had you mentioned it step-by-step, I wouldn't have considered switching to another video.
Great tutorial! How does this compare to the 3D Keyer in the color page? I’ve noticed that footage keyed in the color page plays back much faster than the same footage keyed in fusion. Are there pros/cons to one method over the other?
The fusion one is a lot more powerful. Try cache rendering the nodes in fusion to get the playback faster. As always if all you need is a quick key , the colour page is not a bad alternative. Just depends on how accurate you need the key to be.
great tutorial, lots of information, but!!! How do you change the size of the elements? I have a huge character in a small background, that doesn't fit the screen. How do you change their sizes and make it look right in the scene?
In fusion? Or in the edit page? If it’s fusion, you’ll need to add a Transform node after the element to change the size. In the edit page you can change the scale on the inspector on the right.
1000th like 😌
Wohooooo! :)
your amazing the only issue I have is during your explanation of adding the background you skip to spill suppression with your background up already. I guess a lot of your viewer figured that part out but I was still never able to get my separate image to show up as my background.
Thanks for watching. I am glad the video was helpful. Regarding the background, I thought I did mention that. It starts at 14:00. It really is just about adding the background to a merge node. If you are finding that step hard, please send me the node structure, and I'll take a look and let you know.
I was following you perfectly up to minute 14:10 where you say to “merge it to the delta keyer” how do I do that?
Hi Javier. Thanks for following along. Apologies for rushing through that step. To merge with the delta keyer, you need to use a Merge Node. The inputs to the merge nodes will be the outputs of the Delta Keyer and the Footage node.
Hi Thank you for the clear green screen keying video. However I do have more question what if the video cam moves during the green screen shoot? has it got to do with planar tracker. Urgently need your response on this and do let me know how I could contact you and assist me on this. I don’t mind paying for your time on teaching on my personal project. 👌🏽
Hi. I'll need to see the footage before I can assist. Please reach out by email. You'll fine my contact in the About section of this channel! :)
Need a video on all the keyer nodes, Gurujii.. ❤ infact all the nodes in fusion, one by one..
Sure 😊
Hi Vikram, how are you. Thanks for a very good tutorial, Well explained and direct to the point. But I ran into a situation and I am Going Crazy here . Im trying to render my DR fusion keyed (delta) project for a client. Quicktime DNxHR 12 bits keeps givine me weird renders. So does Quiktime GoPro Cineform. I would really be great if you know the solution to this. I worked 2 days on this (should have done a test render in the beginning but never expected this). In DR everything looks fine but when rendered the keyed part is like half white and keeps moving. Best Regards, Adeep Oberoi!
Is this the final export ? What does a regular H264 look like ?
@@coffeebeanstudio Thx for your reply. H264, with hardware acceleration on its a mess, doesnt even honor the render in and out point, sometimes renders backround only, sometimes forgraound with a part white. But with hardware acceleration turned off it renders the H264 fine, even honors the in and out render point. Tried proress (without alpha) and it also does the weird alpha jittering in the render.
Hmm.. Never seen something like this before. If you want to add me to your Davinci Cloud, I could take a look, but no promises that I'd be able to fix it @@adeepoberoi1130
I was using ultra key before as I figured ‘ultra’ meant it was the best option in davinci, I saw many others using delta keyer and it’s way better, switched to this as my go to keyer now
Thanks for watching! :)
Why is it that when I’m in fusion my log image still looks like log and not rec 709? Should I be doing the key work on the log or log converted to rec 709 (meaning with a node/lut on it)?
Have you enabled colour management? No, you wouldn’t want to key on a log image. If you are still seeing a log image, add a colour space transform node in fusion (not the colour page) and complete the steps in the video after that node.
@@coffeebeanstudio thank you
Talk about timing. I’m doing this very thing for a friend. But he has a black guitar. I expect I’m going to have some struggles to get a good mat? Any suggestions ? Thanks
It’ll be easier with a black guitar. Don’t worry.
Great video again! I was wondering did you had the time to watch that god of war ragnarok video ?
Oh yeah I did. I’ve been able to reproduce it but I think there’s a smarter way to do it and I’m just figuring it out. Shouldn’t be too long now.
@@coffeebeanstudio that’s great! Looking forward to seeing it
@@coffeebeanstudioI know you are probably very busy but I am really looking forward to this video and I also have one more idea that I would love to learn it from you. Have you ever seen Playstation intro, I would love to see how you reproduce it. Thank you again you explain very well that’s why I keep coming back , keep it up and I hope your channel grow
@@Heyiamoal Thanks for checking in mate. I'll add the playstation to the list. I've been travelling for work and not been able to spend time on this channel, but I'll be back in a week or so.. Looking forward to it! :)
subject still does not blend with bg :(
Hello there, your Video really good.
but i have this problem, i have yellow color on my jacket, when i do the Delta Keyer that yellow turn into orange, any help about this?
Hi., Sorry for the late response. Do you still have the issue? If yes, can you send me the clip that you are working with and I'll be able to help.
@@coffeebeanstudio Hi, yes i still have the problem, where i can send you the clip?
if we use red screen, it's too common as it might interfere with the subject as it's a common color and it will make some parts of the subject transparent if there is red in the subject
Bingo 😀
Outstanding technique and explanation, thank you! But say instead of "Perfect Green Screening Keying...," I needed only "Semi-Perfect Green Screen Keying...," would Magic Mask with Tracking & a new Bkgd work fairly well? Since I would be in the Color page anyway, I could still reduce greens and yellows as a last step, like you did at 15:05, right? Sorry, I don't mean to detract from your awesome video here, and it is awesome, there is just a huge amount of knowledge required to make videos and all the options are often confusing. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Hi Jer. Hope you have been well. Yes, for semi perfect keying, and for simple foregrounds (like the one in this video), the magic mask would work well. But consider a shot where you have many characters moving around (like some of the examples from the movies that I showed at the start of the video), that would be very hard to achieve using just a magic mask and tracking. Ultimately with anything in postprocessing, it helps to know all the tools we have access to, so that when it comes to completing a task, we can pick the best tool for the job. :) Thanks for watching! :)
@@coffeebeanstudio Hey, great to know some differentiation between these 2 methods, thanks. You make good points and now I know what to consider when deciding on which tool to use. 👏
Using the magic mask then dilating the created mask a lot can be a quick way to make the garbage matte
Yup, agreed. That's a good idea!
5:12 May be the slider vice versa ?
No. The slider is correct
What if the subject has some green in their clothes, how do we make sure the subject doesn't turn transparent as a result?
You'd use a blue screen in that case
Now that Resolve 19 is out, is there anything you would change about this tutorial?
No. I think the process remains exactly the same.
Ha, is this Steve Vai? What’s the song? It’s very interesting. And thanks for tutorial!
Which one?

Best green screen keying tutorial I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot 😅. I was always wondering what are those taps in the delta keyer for. Now I know it 👍😊 you didn’t explain all of them, but maybe in another tutorial 😉
Thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching. Yeah, the tabs I didn't go in detail into are just for further refining the mask, and not something I usually use day in day out. But yeah, it might warrant a new video later on. :)
is it better than nuke ibk????
Different tools different purposes.
Before on the right side. Whyy? :)
Haha. I tried to make it work with the After on the right, but Superman's cape covered most of the after image and it didn't work. Hence the compromise! :)
because we have blood in our viens and we loose the red tints which includes our skin in red screen
Bingo
Make more videos bro
Sure thing mate! :)
because Red tone is matching our skin color thats why red screen is not available. If I'm wrong, please lead me
Yup you’re right. Hope you liked the video 🙂
@@coffeebeanstudio thank you boss.
My garbage matte and solid matte doesn't do anything...
I key out BLACK...
Terrific rundown on using delta key but why the background music? I know it’s not loud but it still doesn’t do anything for your video. No offence.
Point taken. I'll work towards not utilizing it going forward! :)
I don't agree. I think the music adds a nice layer in the mix!! Adding music if it's not distracting or overpowering can make tutorial videos more interesting and calming or whatever else.. I usually try to choose a tutorial with a bit of music in
@@jessicabramhall4425 You're in a minority, content is what matters, if you need music to jazz it up then you're not delivering the content well. Each to their own of course but music has no place when commentary is key.
@@oo0Spyder0oo how do u know I'm in the minority have you gone around asking people? Lol I know loads of people that enjoy quiet background music whilst being taught something.. maybe your the minority...
@@oo0Spyder0oo and actually.. I wasn't disputing the fact that music is better than commentary u said I think it adds to it... you told him to get rid of the music. I disagree. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean u ruin it for the rest that do. Anyway not arguing or starting anything let's just agree everyone has a difference in taste
Why is everyone getting this but me?? This is about the 10 billionth tutorial I've watched that doesnt explain one thing or the other. I'm stuck a minute and 18 seconds in trying to figure out what you clicked to get to protect settings. I've been using Davinci for 5 years. I have had a green screen for almost a month and can't figure out how to use it. Why can everyone on the internet but me figure this out like it's nothing? Everyone says it's so easy and I cannot for the absolute life of me figure it out. I haven't felt this stupid and incompetent since I was in school.
Let me help you. What specifically are you struggling with at 1:18?
To go to project settings you click on the gear icon on the bottom right of the screen. I’ve highlighted it in the video.
adding the background image was not explained well
what da heck is steve vai doing here ????
Considering you didn't explain how to even bring in a delta keyer at the very beginning of the video, the video was completely useless.
Now I don't need to watch any other tutorial ❤❤
Hahaha. Thanks mate.
