    Thank you so much for making my requested video! I am trying out the self-massage techniques and I already feel instant tension relief. These are different self-massages that I didn't see in other videos. I already saw a ENT when this first started in 2012 and they ruled out an ear issue. So I think I need to see a professional physical therapist thank you for helping clear the confusion of what to do/who to go to. I wish I knew this back in 2012 when it originally started, so i'm sure you will help people who just started experiencing TMJ pains. Mine gets so bad these days that sometimes my ear closes up completely for a full day due to TMJ pressure. Chris P

      @DrCliffAuD  6 років тому +3

      Hey Chris, make sure to do the self massage technique I showed in this video. A massage therapist should also be able to help! I wonder if you have some Eustachian tube dysfunction as well based on your "closes up" comment.

    • @ArtNowCoding
      @ArtNowCoding 6 років тому +1

      Perhaps, i'll look more into ETD. Whenever it it does close up, I usually massage the muscles around my TMJ and behind the ear, as well as hold my nose and blow to "pop" my ears. That so far has been the way that I get it back to normal. Does this sound like it would effect the Eustachian tube?

    • @DrCliffAuD
      @DrCliffAuD  6 років тому +2

      If that is the case, it is HIGHLY likely that it is your Eustachian tube that is having problems.

    Ear drops don't flow into my ear. They just sit in my ear until I move my head and then the liquid flows out.
    Is this something I need to be concerned with? I have had pain behind my right ear when I've gotten up the last two days (the kind of pain signal that will prevent one from moving their head to avoid an increase in pain to unbearable levels).

There is no difference between incline bed and gold idol! As I sing, my vocal cords get tired quickly. I have had this problem for 8 years. Then I heard about TMJ. When I eat something hard, it pulls on the muscles. And has a VOCAL PAIN. Please fix me. Thank you very much.

    I was able to rule out ear infection by experimenting with nights when I try to avoid sleeping with my head turned to the left and then sleeping with it to the left purposely. When I would sleep on the left side awake long enough, I would notice the pain slowly creeping in. I also further ruled out what I initially thought was an ear issue by doing recommended exercises I saw online and the sensation I was having immediately went away for about an hour or so at a time after doing them. I have just started doing this, so we'll see if I can correct it on my own, but now I think it is most likely related to sleeping with my elbow and hand to my face in the past when napping on a chair and I messed myself up.

Last ENT suspects it might be TMJ related. Also, I'm having an issue where something in my left ear rattles/vibrates in response to certain sounds especially cymbal like sound. My ENT doctors seem to play it down. Any idea what this might be? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

      i see your note is from 2 years ago, but curious as to if you are still having symptoms and if so, if you have been tested for Meniere's disease?
      although it is rare, my son and husband both have it and if left untreated, will cause complete loss of hearing. fortunately, a low salt diet prevents hearing loss.
      possible symptoms of Meniere's are ringing, a sense of fullness in the ear (or ears), loss of balance and vertigo

    This just happened the other day, the way it happened was I was watching a video and I yelled because of my reaction towards the video and then I heard a pop and it hurts every time I talk I hear a clicking sound and my jaw has been killing me I thought it was my ears but I went to the doctor and he said my ears are fine and clear so he gave me a nasal spray and thought it was just allergies but I’ve been using the nasal spray and that does nothing now my left ear feels clogged and my lower left jaw hurts

    Is TMJ always painful? I'm experiencing a clicky jaw on the left side which is leading to tinnitus. This tinnitus changes tone as I move my jaw.

    Dr. Cliff. Have you ever heard of the Rolf Method of Structural Integration. Session 7 out of 10 can easily get rid of TMJ and trigeminal neuralgia in usually one session. It's amazing

    I have TMJ really badly. When I eat it hurts so badly. Right now I have a lump under my ear right now and pain as well. I don't know why it hurts or if its hurting from my TMJ. I will be keeping an eye and fingers on it for a few days and see if it gets any bigger or not or if it doesn't go away. If it doesn't go away in a few days to a week I am heading to the doctors.

    Hello! My left TMJ has degenerated a bit. It doesn’t seem to be getting worse and There isn’t too much pain but it’s quite tense. I had braces on for 3 years and had them taken off to rest my jaw. I’ve switched to a new orthodontist and he is recommending I use a splint to help heal and stop the degeneration from continuing. I have a couple questions. Would Botox replace the need to have a splint? Will exercises help or stress out the muscle? Is EWST an effective option? Is there any way the muscle can regenerate? Will braces make this worse? And finally how do I reduce the uneven appearance in my jaw? Thank you so much for taking time to read this.

    I can't find the 'mystery condition' I have on YT or on Mayo clinic chat--a large group of us have severe, unexplained outer ear cartilage sensitivity. it is so sensitive, we cannot lie down with the ear touching anything, not even a pillow! no side sleeping for any of us and it sucks.
    a hat or phone touching the ear for a normal period of time causes pain.
    the condition is not relapsing polychondritis and it is not an inner ear autoimmune disease (yes that's a thing)
    could it be tmj?
    i have no jaw pain-
    this absolutely sucks.
    good luck everyone

    I lost a left Molar tooth about a year ago and now my jaw clicks when I eat chewy foods and it’s pissing me off! It’s not painful it’s just annoying, also it clicks when I open my mouth wide. And also I’ve been having ear pains too in both ears. It’s really annoying me. I just wish It would go away and I can have a normal jaw and no ear pain. Any tips on how to get rid of these pains and jaw clicking? Thanks!
