    All ten of these multitools I would buy again. This is NOT a list of the BEST multitool in the respective categories but rather which ones gave me a positive experience while I was using them.

      100% agree on the bond, I wish they would redo the rebar tools set, with scissors in the bond frame with the OG supertool lock... pocket clip, locking implements without the hot spots of f the current rebar locks... perfection

    LM skeletool is one of my favorites, because I use it for “braai” (barbeque). Pop the beers, grab the hot grill with the pliers, blade open the bag of charcoal, box of wood etc. Especially whilst on Safari.

    The ROXON I chose for EDC isn't actually a "multi" tool, but a DUAL tool. Their S501 model with a Tanto style blade and a really, *really* decent set of almost full-sized scissors! I use it many, many times a day, mostly in the garden. The knife blade I used yesterday to *BRUTALLY* hack down a burdock bush, (wishing I had brought my machete) and the scissors to harvest tomatoes and cucumbers from my garden! I bought a backup. My other "go to" multis are a pair of Gerber Suspensions, one in the van and one beside the bed. 'cause you never know! LOL.. Thanks for the video!

      This is the model that had the bit of the body break on me. That small bit of steel that keeps the scissors straight? It's not very durable.

      Is it really as good as leatherman quality wise? Let’s say one could afford the L man but wasn’t stoked abt it. It the bibury really as good?

    • @ModernSurvivalSense
      @ModernSurvivalSense Місяць тому

      @@jimmylarge1148 The bibury is a solid multitool. Leatherman will have the material and QC upper hand... but the Bibury is easily the better value and I would much rather have 6 Bibury tools than 1 Leatherman Arc (or in reality... 1 solid $40 tool and $200 of other equipment).

    • @Brindles69
      @Brindles69 Місяць тому

      Just keep in mind that material quality just isn't the same with these clones.
      I have bought, used and abused a B/Bury clone as a cheap tool for work - within a couple days the bit pouch had sheared off, I lost the other bit as it loosened up in the (non-magnetic) holder. After being removed and replaced on my belt for a couple months the attachment point on the pouch has fallen off. And finally I was applying some relatively light pressure on the pliers trying to remove material stuck in a thread and the one half snapped off - sending this tool to its early grave.
      Ultimately, not great for heavy use in a work environment in my opinion. I have now switched to using my Leatherman/Gerber for work - these just feel so much more robust - I just have to promise myself not to loose them 😂

      I carry a powerpint which can accept 1/4" bits and I keep a 1/4" extension and bits in my edc pouch. Put the extension in the end of the tool and I keep a small rubber band in the pouch to slip over the ends of the handle to hold everything together. Not the heaviest duty setup but more than enough for my edc tasks.

    I always enjoy and look forward to your videos. I’ve learned so much from you!
    The Swiss Tool MX Clip is my EDC. I just work in an office and LOVE it. The package opener is so well designed and is my most used tool.
    I’m kind of a brand snob, and love my Leatherman Charge and Surge for outside work. I don’t care for the idea of buying any of the “clones.”
    ROXON, while made in China has very original ideas and does not make clones, but uses forward thinking designs. I LOVE the Flex. I’m looking forward to where they take it in the future. I, like you, have several of them. I enjoy playing with them and could really see it becoming my most used tool. I feel they are pushing the market forward. The big companies are going to have to come up with similar technology to compete IMHO.
    Thank you for a great channel! 👍

    19:03 this is a lesson learned from the centerdrive plus custom I bought, CHECK YOUR TOOLS BEFORE YOU USE THEM!!! And don't say "ah not everything is going to be perfect" if you pay a lot of money for something. If it's got a defect, send them an email. I got a centerdrive plus custom from their website, and since I'm in Canada, I had to use a freight forwarder to get it to me, so it took close to 3 weeks total to get it to me, for the plier head to arrive bent. I got it on a Friday, filed warranty on a Tuesday, and have been waiting close to a month for warranty to respond with a course of action after asking for photos of the tool 4 times (I'm not an idiot, I can take a clear picture) and sending probably 30 pictures. I even sent them an email straight to their customer service team, and it's been close to 2 weeks for an actual response from them aside from asking for more pictures

    Good review, Dominic!😊 I would say that if someone is starting out with multitools, the Bond is a very good idea...that should help you decide if you want to upgrade to the Curl....if you want to go whole hog, I'd jump to the Wave + & eventually to the Surge...of course, this is not taking into account the deplorable cutter issue which LTG has yet to resolve...As for the Vicky, I prefer pouch carry as it is too bulky for pocket carry for me....the esthetics of the blade have been affected, imho, by being able to open it one handed...(see the regular Spirit & the Swisstool, beautiful blades)...but then again, I'm old school...😊Victorinox did this because the American market demanded it...for folks who may have difficulties opening a Vicky, may I suggest Victorinox's case knife & perhaps the cuticle pusher on the Minichamp to help open tools on the Spirit & the Swisstool? Finally, that SOG would be perfect for a light day along with a dedicated folder...

    I bought and have EDC carried the SQT since Dom first recommended it. Great tool, but a will not fit in knife pocket of some of my cargo pocket slacks, and it's a genuine clunk in the back pocket. (Front pockets assigned other uses.)
    After this video I was reminded of the half dozen Power Pints I have owned and given away. Saw Walmart had them for $35, and the SQT just got shore duty in the top right drawer, as the Powerpint fits the knife pocket in every pair!
    Woo hoo, you cost me another $35! Shoulda just taken my Bond with scissors and stuck it in knife pocket, but I got another tool! Am happy!

  • @astaschak
    @astaschak 4 місяці тому +1

    I don't have 10 multitools but my top 3 would be the WorkPro 18 in 1 tool, The Surge clones (mines the bibury you showed), and then the Leatherman Rebar. I would still buy the rebar again but honestly for the price I would rather get 2 of the workpros. It's like a wave on the outside with the 2 blades and saw and file, but with a very similar but kinda better toolset on the inside as the rebar. I'm not a big fan of bit drivers in general and my uses don't require more than a flat or phillips driver 90% of the time. If they do it's because I'm working on something and I already have proper tools out. The workpro has a #1 and #2 phillips that nest into each other and only take up one tool spot and scissors. Along with the can opener and flat drivers and awl.
    Oh and I almost forgot to add it has spring loaded jaws too and the blade steel doesn't seem much worse than LM's 420hc. But then again usually when I use a multitool blade and not my actual pocket knife it's because what I'm doing probably not the best for it or will quickly dull any steels edge

    Leatherman has a serious pricing problem. Here in Europe a Spirit X at a discount price can cost as much as a Leatherman Sidekick (a supposedly budget Leatherman).

    Great one as always! Currently I have Rebar (mostly keep at home), Micra on my keychain, Skeletool (sometimes carry because of pliers and bits), Also have Victorinox Compact which I really love but now I carry it much less because I have a good pair of scissors on my Micra that are good enough for me. In addition, I try to carry TPT Slide with utility blade to save my other blades in some occasions. I am a normal guy very much into EDC stuff and just want to be prepared in most of the cases and at the same time carry preferably only one compact multitool to replace all others. I was thinking a lot about Arc but you changed my mind :D Victorinox MX clip seems great but sadly the look of it is not that interesting and bits are limited plus deploying issue and plier play room that you showed. On the other side Leatherman Curl also seems like a great choice because of its great toolset except lack of saw which is available in MX clip. So to have one and only one tool on me everyday forever, I guess I am stuck between Arc, Curl, and Sprit MX Clip. I would love to hear your valuable opinion to help me make my final decision. Thanks :)
    P.S. The Victorinox in the video is actually Swiss Tool Spirit MX Clip but in the description I see Swiss Tool MX Clip which is another multitool from Victorinox a little bit different and heavier.

I'm more into knives is what it is, but my heart has always been with a Victorinox multi-tool, (I love Victorinox scissors) but damn! $150 and up is a lot of money for something I could easily live without. Although, $50 / $60ish is doable for a good quality multi-tool, which is why I'm gonna be getting me a Leatherman Bond most likely, but man! I wished it came with scissors, but I don't think the Bond does:) Anyways, nice video and good info...

    Have the old Leatherman PST and sidekick models and keep them in a drawer now. Carry the Micra along with my SAK knives. Gerber 600 in car bag, 300 at home. All the new stuff is too ‘thick’ to be comfortable or handy, and most are way overpriced. Redoing car bag and I have a Coleman multi tool that has two pods that come out on each handle to give me three separate tools to use. Quite a cool concept. Because the majority of the multi tools still only give you one tool at a time. Handy to be able to use pliers to hold a nut and a screwdriver to turn the slotted bolt. There are many times where you really need two separate tools for a lot of jobs, so why not go back to a pouch with compact individual tools. I’m doing that as well.

    The only reason I own the arc is because the employees at dicks locked the arc up in the place for the rebar so I got the arc for 80 bucks, I’d be willing to spend a bit more for the arc but the 230 price tag is way to much for what it is

      There’s a mathematical formula that applies to multi tools, it was originally developed for guitarists.
      It is
      Nmo +1 where Nmo = number of multi tools “owned”

    Interesting that you wont consider the wave for its poor cutters, but like the Spirit with its poor cutters - mine struggle to cut a cable tie!
    That being said, I do like the Spirit, but prefer the Wave for its stronger screwed pivots and tool 'replaceability'. I've mangled a SAK phillips driver in quick time. Lesson learnt - only use it if you have nothing else.

    I'm in the process of abusing.... EDCing... a Harbor Freight Gordon multitool. I've had it since the week it was released and have pretty much abused it every day since. Other than the scissors edge touching the inner frame and creating a burr, it's been a solid tool. Just used it for removing all the carpet staples from two floors of our new house, a combination of using the can opener hook for the smaller staples and the big flat screwdriver for the other or just using the pliers at times. With a lot of twisting that would have murdered the plier joint of my flissa multitool, honestly I've broken Leatherman and Gerber multi tools doing the same thing so I can say it's just as tough.

    First and foremost on any and every multi-tool that would be "useful to me" on a daily basis, especially in an "Apocalypse SHTF" scenerio is a precision eyeglass screw tool.
    If it doesn’t have that, it isn't high on my list.
    Seems to me this is an essential feature on every single multi-tool consideration

    • @maxlvledc

      I have a Bibury model BLT-PRO-BD (I think that is the model) that has a precision screwdriver. It works 50 percent of the time with my eyeglasses. It needs some fine-tuning. Using the quarter-inch bit driver adapter from my ifixit to use a smaller driver bit works much better. Probably, using a fixed precision screwdriver that fits the screw for the eyeglasses will last longer than a driver bit that might get lost.
      I hope an apocalypse or SHTF event does not happen. I have the Bibury BLT-PRO-BD and Rocktol Surge clone that gets me closer to being prepared if such a nasty event happens.
