Starting to save up to get one. I already have the items picked out, and I’m so excited. I tried convincing my wife that this tool would be an investment, that didn’t work.
I personally do not recommend you to buy something low production and experimental if you need to financially work on the deal. You will be disappointed. Buy a Diacamping DL7 or something less expensive.
As long as they are chosen and paid for wisely, tools are one of the best investments you can make in your home, starting small and adding things as you need them and a good multitool is a great place to start! Hopefully in time your wife will appreciate all the things you will be able to do with even a modest selection of tools. Save up if you have to, you'll be ahead in the long run!👍
Since you have a good relationship with Roxon, here are my suggestions for new implements: -small scissor. The Wave scissors are the right size. -release that package opener. I want it. -needle point. Like on a blackhead remover. -spoon chisel. -carving implements, like on the FlexCut carving tool. -claw can opener. Their opener is ok, I used it today. But the claw is my favorite. -lock picks. Three can occupy one tool slot. They can have three sets of three. -hand cuff key. Don't need one, but why not? Someone does. -4mm bit driver. There's lots of space, it could hold two while having one in the driving slot. -gap gauges? That fan out? Two sets would cover 20 thicknesses. -blades in nice steels. 14c27n, 154cm, Damascus. Go crazy. -small utility blade holder? The tiny trapezium blades. It could fit. -t-shank holder. Maybe not enough space for this one.
Leatherman bit driver, can carry more bits and driver will take up less slots. Lanyard ring, make every kind of tool imaginable. I love the FLEXability. I’ll buy them all.
I appreciate this style of a guide: a broad overview of all the options followed with no-nonsense recommendations on which implements are worth a damn (and why). Feels credible and authentic, as compared to other channels where advice is often tainted by an agenda to get a vendor kickback or boost subscriber base.
here in Italy blades of any length are illegal to carry around, so i'm very excited to be able to make my own tool without one.....really can't wait for Roxon to release this in Europe! And the video was awesome!
had ordered my second one as a gift to my dad before this video went live. cant wait for usa-level prices to reach europe, and for future implements! Thanks for the comprehensive video anyway
They should offer a short blade option, like how they did with the two serrated blades. And I really like the short scissor mention, definitely going to get that
If you go to roxon's website and find the page for building and ordering this tool, towards the bottom of the page there's a survey deal or something of that nature for customers to suggest what implements they should make going forward
I just received my flex today, and make sure anyone who has one is using the secondary locks. To see how easy it was to accidentally deploy a tool, I shook mine, and a serrated blade, chisel, and scalpel went flying everywhere, as in completely left the handles altogether. Glad I didn't get cut. I carefully reset and triple check my locks, everything was correct and I have replicated more than once. I have messaged them in case I possibly got a defective handle or something, but just in case I recommend using the secondary locks as this prevents the issue entirely. I have currently only gotten this to happen with my right handle (if looking front on with the locks at the top), so there is a chance I just got a defective handle, but wanted to make the service announcement just in case. If they determine it to be defective and I get a new handle that doesn't do this, I'll update.
I have two of them and they are great! I really wish that they would come out with some more tools, though. Especially the extendable ruler with the magnet on the end. Some other tips I’ve picked up are to keep the scalpel in its packaging to keep it sterile; grinding down the end of the scissor handle so it fits flush when you have two long tools in one side; and constantly adjusting the toolset so you can try other setups, while your current setup might be great another one might be better. In the future, I’d love it if Roxon released a flex frame that had one side be the knife and scissors from the phantom, and the other side be a 6 or 7 slot flex handle. The one-handable, interchangeable blade and the big, capable scissors are the best part of the phantom. The ability to have a customizable toolset on the other handle would make it perfect, especially if they use the flex pliers instead of the phantoms. It would also be great if Roxon could offer a leather pouch for it, since their nylon ones aren’t the most durable.
I was going to wait until the other implements came out. But I broke down and got it. Thanks to you I save $10.44 and got two other implements. I now have four long implements in my multi-tool. With this multi-tool I have taken notice to something strange. I use a lot more than any other multi-tool I've ever had. It took me awhile to figure out why. The reason. I'm not afraid to use it. I don't look at it being disposable. But I do see it as reasonably repairable. And that gives me a feeling about this multi-tool that I've never had. The freedom to use it. the way it was meant to be. I have used this knife a lot in the past week and not a single blood blister from pinching my hand and no hotspots when using it. It feels incredible in the hand. I don't have to hold it a weird angle just so I don't get pinched by the handles. I thank you for your wonderful review. And to Roxon for creating the multi-tool of my dreams. Ps. I have had this multi-tool around my neck 24- 7 on a paracord necklace without any issues at all.
this is awesome. getting the pocket knife format for my brother and the full flex for myself. I've been looking for a knifeless multitool with replaceable cutters for a very long time. unfortunately, they're super uncommon and the ones that are out there rarely have the specific tools that I'm looking for personally. i really appreciate modularity, so this thing is a dream come true.
Darn it, every time I get excited! but they still do not deliver to the UK...LOL..One day my dream will come true. Great vid so much info , will deffo get one of these. Cheers
Current load out: Side 1: Scissors, long scalpel (via your truck), pull cutter, small driver/file, awl. Side 2: bit driver, long diamond file. Honestly I'm not sure what it's optimized for. I got some extra pieces to swap in and out until I figure out what I need. But mostly I was stocking up during their 4th of July sale for when they release the no-pliers version. :-)
Thank you so much for doing this. Very much appreciated. I've be looking to replace my edc & backup multitools and you channel is a great reference point.
Fantastic video thanks a lot of great information for us when we eventually get it in the UK, I believe Amazon UK will eventually stock it but Roxon have indicated it will be around two months before they will manage to the stock shipped to them and of course this means all the offers that are on just now through the USA site are not available to us , very annoying
Thank you for the 10% off coupon! I got the base tool plus 5 large implements and 14 small ones cheaper than Amazon's price which only would have given me 15 implements, 3 of which I didn't want. You rock! A premium blade steel would be a nice option in the future.
Nice walkthrough of all the tools as they have a lot of nice options. The one I'd really like to see is a small plain blade knife like they have for the serrated one. I am very excited for the one handed option, especially if they get that bit driver on the opposite side. I told them my dream config of a one handed swiss knife option that had that and they said they were working on it which was very cool to hear.
I have my saw and blade on one side, the saw in the back and the blade in front of it - which lets the blade deploy further like how you showed, making it easily one hand-able. (Yeah its not TOTALLY smooth...lil crunchy...a little, but it works good) I'd argue that any time you're going to use the saw you're gonna have both hands free anyway, so the fact it doesn't deploy further doesn't matter.
I love all those obscure looking tools on the lefthand side of the screen in the beginning of your video. Wish they were available on Roxon’s website already. Can I have them? 😂
Awesome, in-depth review. I've enjoyed creating a lot of different combinations with my Flex. I did find with certain combinations, the implements are looser than others, thank you for including the tension adjustment in the tips and tricks.
I bought one when they first allowed you to pre order . I liked it so much I bought another one. Super well made. Really great product. Having a pocket knife version of this with only one handle would be great for me as I rarely used the pliers.
👍🏼very good thorough video. I like all the tool options and the price but other wise I’m still preferring the GOAT. I have a video 10 reasons the goat is better than the flex. And then I was reminded of an 11th reason. 😁 I discovered the goat on your channel. I’m glad I did and took the risk to buy it. It’s the only multitool I’ve been using for almost a year now. ❤️🐐❤🙂
This looks like an awesome tool. I want one! I think of the Leatherman P2 and P4 as modular tools. There are many removable bit options and I have modified some of the bits to do other things, but there has never been a really good exchangeable bit knife until now.
I just got one and 10+ replaceable pieces and played around for one hour. First, the idea is good and tried to fulfill many people's dream to have modular multi-tools. Second, the general quality is above standard but still not top quality when compared with top tier brand. Third, the tool replacement mechanism is simple, easy to use and quite secure that I like it. Then, let's jump to the down side. First, which is the most important, how come the compartment of each side of the tool can only hold ONE long tool. I tried to squeeze one blade and one file on one side. It is possible but really not smooth to open and close. So finally, I can only put blade on one side and scissors on the other and insert all short tools in the remaining slots. I think they can make the pliers a bit narrower to spare room for long tool. Second, I accept the blade can't be one hand open (actually you can but a bit stupid to swing all the tools out when pushing lever and put the others back to the compartment) but I really blame on the method to close the blade.
Great video. This sounds like it's an awesome product. I'll be ordering one soon. If you have any input with Roxon, suggest that they make a kit to include every tool that fits this product.
Those holes on the fish hook file are for tuning lures jerk baits and crank baits have a eyelet that you have to tweek to keep them swimming correctly.
This is an interesting idea but I think most people would prefer a web page where it asked questions, e.g. do you want a large multitool or a small one, do you want a blade, do you want it locking, do you want a screwdriver / saw / awl / nail file / scissors etc. and it presented options. Additionally do you want plastic / metal scales etc. and the outcome of this is a tool that meet their needs. With some joined up thinking I could even see this being a massive business opportunity - order a custom multi tool and the thing will be assembled and sent out.
Thanks for a great review, I really like the Roxon Flex but have a few concerns. I think that the tab for the tools is a bit fidgety and I don't think the mechansim will hold up for years to come. It's great though with the 25 year warranty that they provide, given that the company will continue to be around by then of course. I also think it's a shame with only two long implements, it really sets me back in terms of what I would like to pack. However, I have three suggestions for tools that I would love to see and that is: 1) a short straight blade (similar to the small serrated), then I dont need a large blade but can use the smaller blade for whittling and similar. 2) A combination tool similar to what LM Wave has with can/bottleopener and possibly wire stripper since I want to be able to pack this but i dont want to use up two slots for this. 3) Short scissors, nice to have scissors but I dont want that to be a long implement. Then I can pack (for my perfect EDC): Saw, file, 1/4 bitholder, combotool, small blade, small scissors and awl (possibly the chisel instead). Really looking forward to the t-shankholder and the extended ruler/protractor. Normally my favorite EDC is Swisstool Spirit, have everything I need and excellent quality/craftmanship. Looking forward to Roxon Flex companion to come to Europe!
Very comprehensive overview, well done! Would be interested to know the starting weight of the bare frame before it is populated (grams would be preferable).
liking it, would like to see a carrier that is one blade wider to carry 2 additional tools. not everything has to be skinny (looking at you, cell phones)
I set my up saw blade chisel wire cutter can open a bottle opener on one side. on the other side, I put small file fishhook sharpener gut hook all fish scaler scissors 👍 The rest of the parts that I bought go into my Leatherman Molly belt holder and I can swap out if needed my thinking was basically this is set up for woods / camping use and fishing
The version of the flex around the 4:11 mark, the one with rounded edges, looked a little more SAK like. Was that replaced by the boxier version on the website or was it just a prototype? I like that style better than the rectangle one.
I have the knife(1L), the scissors(1L), the bit driver(4S), and custom 3D printed female adapter for cleaning rods and brushes, and a blank spacer. Maybe for the wood chisel or another custom tool.
It's all wonderful... buuuut, seems like a whole lot of choices for a possible 3-6 slots... with socket driver.... too hard to decide.. great help from you.. but dang...I'd have to buy 4 of them to get the tools I need for all the things I do... lol... whew... I would like to build 2 or 3 of the pocket knife sized ones for different "jobs".. thats coo!
Just received mine, and it is awesome. One negative for my set is the bit holder didnt fit well, and rattling a lot when fold down or up. I need to add lead tape to thickness and width. Not sure it is only me got this problem?
I am interested to know if the Wera 4-in-1 hex bit can fit into a 1/4" driver and fold into the handle. At first glance, I would say yes because your long bit looks similar. Based on my experience with the Victorinox Spirit, I prefer a separate long Phillips screwdriver and a small, long flathead screwdriver for electrical tasks. I also want to add a 1/4-inch driver for an optional double-sided TORX bit or this 4-in-1 hex bit. Thank you, Patrick, for the great content.
Great review! What sheath do they provide with the tool, if any? What options are there for those who want a sheath that carries the tool as well as several additional implements? Oh, I see... Amazon shows a Molly Case!
Just decided order to the LTM charge clone from Aliexpress yesterday (also from checking you reviews) after losing my EDC daicamping. I normally keep the original charge TTI for indoor works since the things is so damn expensive it's hurt the wallet to lose another one (lost 2 in the past), losing Daicamping-priced shit is easier. All that context just to say I'm still gonna also buy the Flex and some extra implement just from this videos, these maker really need to start paying you some commission, lol
the cut outs on the fishhook file are for tuning lures all crankbaits and jerkbaits have an eyelet that needs tweeked now and then thats what thats for.
I never use pliers, and I'm looking for bladeless multitools I can always have on me (work in schools and fly for work sometimes) I'm hoping instead of pliers it can be a scissor base, and I would love if it had nail clippers Also maybe if it was shaped enough to have a comb?
I'm about to pull the trigger on this but I'm debating on what to get. A a one and done do it all load out ie straight blade, saw, scissors diamond file with philips flat head file chisel, all that noise OOOR B something that compliments my SAK ranger with minimal overlap. serrated blade, diamond file gut hook, file/ruler, chisel small scalpel and bit driver. Option B is $12 cheaper before discount. I do love carrying my ranger, but I also love the idea of having minimal stuff to carry. Right now I got the ranger a mini praxis, a mini cobra and a 711l with other bits and bobs in a small alpacka pouch that doubles as my wallet. I'm always looking for alternatives to carry less stuff. Torn between carrying a lot of really cool tools and one all in one solution.
I’d like to see a bit driver compatible with the flat leatherman bits. They save so much room in the sheath. I, as well as others did recommend this to Roxon. So we’ll see…
Currently I *have* to go with victorinox for the magnifying glass. My vision isn't great, and if I lose my glasses, I can't read. A magnifying glass is a safety requirement for me. I hope they add one.
Very informative video. In looking at the Roxon site, it is not clear whether bits in bit kit BITS01 are designed to be used with Flex FTS4-1 bit holder. I did not see a holster or case for Flex on the site either.
good video.. what is the name of the multitool with no plier at 4'11 (bottom right) please? i was thinking about buy a second flex just to disassemble and make a pocket knife like this one :)
This system has a big ptotencial to replace SAK, and advance to new era of multipurpose knife! I want single straight handle(no plyer), interchangeable & rocking button on both ends, (one side one button) one hand opening! and variety blade shape and better material (i.e. droppoint, S90V) also want micarta or titanium grip plate!
Just received mine, I can't make up my mind which tools I want in it. I keep changing them out which is a good thing. Large scalpel blade fits next to a long tool.
Seeing you with several flexes (weird flex but okay ¦ Þ), and us non-US peasants waiting patiently for the chance to purchase one, raises my envy to palpable levels (extremely jelly). This is a super useful video though and once the floodgates open it will certainly inform my money flinging decisions. P.S would bet that people subscribed to the flex update emails will find out its availability from your videos first. ¦D
So, the Flex (and a few of its inserts) seems to be available on the Roxon Tool (not the regular Roxon) Ali store. Have purchased one and eagerly await its arrival. ᵔᴥᵔ
Although I’m sure it’s too early, do you think they might venture into a miniature version that maybe only handles the short tools and is 4 layers thick instead of 5?
It's too long to be able to close. The double sided bits securely fit into the Roxon bit holder, though, so you can have a bit with two ends which is nice.
When removing the scalpel blade I would highly recomend removing the scalpel holder from the tool and using the pliers to take it from the holder. That's a good way to avoid cutting yourself by accident.
43 minutes of multitool heaven.
glad you like it. Long video lol.

Since you have a good relationship with Roxon, here are my suggestions for new implements:
-small scissor. The Wave scissors are the right size.
-release that package opener. I want it.

-t-shank holder. Maybe not enough space for this one.

Leatherman bit driver, can carry more bits and driver will take up less slots. Lanyard ring, make every kind of tool imaginable. I love the FLEXability. I’ll buy them all.

Additionally do you want plastic / metal scales etc. and the outcome of this is a tool that meet their needs. With some joined up thinking I could even see this being a massive business opportunity - order a custom multi tool and the thing will be assembled and sent out.
I also found that many of the implements arrived VERY sharp, use caution when using!
Awesome❤ Appreaciate you, your review, tips, and the coupon!
Just ordered one!
Just got mine thanks for the video Freedom FKH Wolverines
Very comprehensive overview, well done! Would be interested to know the starting weight of the bare frame before it is populated (grams would be preferable).
liking it, would like to see a carrier that is one blade wider to carry 2 additional tools. not everything has to be skinny (looking at you, cell phones)
I set my up saw blade chisel wire cutter can open a bottle opener on one side. on the other side, I put small file fishhook sharpener gut hook all fish scaler scissors 👍
The rest of the parts that I bought go into my Leatherman Molly belt holder and I can swap out if needed my thinking was basically this is set up for woods / camping use and fishing
The version of the flex around the 4:11 mark, the one with rounded edges, looked a little more SAK like. Was that replaced by the boxier version on the website or was it just a prototype? I like that style better than the rectangle one.
I am asking too. Curious about that one. Looks better "companion" with the flex according the design
T- shank adapter would be absolute next level
They are, you may even have spotted it lol. But it's a prototype
@@maxlvledc yes, I want
I have the knife(1L), the scissors(1L), the bit driver(4S), and custom 3D printed female adapter for cleaning rods and brushes, and a blank spacer. Maybe for the wood chisel or another custom tool.
Amazing Video !!
Would a Magnatized needle fit in the groove of the small Diamond sharpener.
Definitely
Genius idea..
Awesome 👍 Thanks for the video!
Lovely video! THANK YOU! I
Roxon awls are razor sharp I have one in ks2e
Just decided order to the LTM charge clone from Aliexpress yesterday (also from checking you reviews) after losing my EDC daicamping.
I normally keep the original charge TTI for indoor works since the things is so damn expensive it's hurt the wallet to lose another one (lost 2 in the past), losing Daicamping-priced shit is easier.
All that context just to say I'm still gonna also buy the Flex and some extra implement just from this videos, these maker really need to start paying you some commission, lol
they didn't at the time, but the new links are affiliate links which definitely help the channel.
I use the leatherman micro driver alot and just wondering whether they might have that tool later
the cut outs on the fishhook file are for tuning lures all crankbaits and jerkbaits have an eyelet that needs tweeked now and then thats what thats for.
Yep, messed that up
@@maxlvledc all good this is what we do in this hobby world what ever you want to call it help keep the info going.
Does the bit holder suit double-ended Wiha bits?
I never use pliers, and I'm looking for bladeless multitools I can always have on me (work in schools and fly for work sometimes)
I'm hoping instead of pliers it can be a scissor base, and I would love if it had nail clippers
Also maybe if it was shaped enough to have a comb?
I think im going with something like your 4 long tools at the end of the vid. sub the torx with a scalpel and awl. I can always buy more tools later.
a classic problem.
Is there going to be an option for the big scissors in the future. I would buy today if they had the option.
8:15 "EeGreSsiVe" is the word of the day 📖💪🧠
I’d like to see a bit driver compatible with the flat leatherman bits. They save so much room in the sheath. I, as well as others did recommend this to Roxon. So we’ll see…
It would definitely be possible to extend it and make it work with wiha double bits.
Currently I *have* to go with victorinox for the magnifying glass. My vision isn't great, and if I lose my glasses, I can't read. A magnifying glass is a safety requirement for me. I hope they add one.
Where can i get replacement num 13 scalpel blades having a tough time locating them A link would help pls
Does the flex model has a utility knife blade adapter like the Phantom has?
Very informative video. In looking at the Roxon site, it is not clear whether bits in bit kit BITS01 are designed to be used with Flex FTS4-1 bit holder. I did not see a holster or case for Flex on the site either.
Nope, they fit over the small philips
I'd love to see a package opener like the Gerber Dime.
you can see in cover photo a prototype of it.
amazing...now do it 5th pocket size
Which file would be good for occasional use on fingernails? I'm trying to get a tool set list together for a blade less version for myself 😁
Diamond for sure
good video.. what is the name of the multitool with no plier at 4'11 (bottom right) please? i was thinking about buy a second flex just to disassemble and make a pocket knife like this one :)
Can i move the position of the pocket clip?
This system has a big ptotencial to replace SAK, and advance to new era of multipurpose knife!
I want single straight handle(no plyer), interchangeable & rocking button on both ends, (one side one button) one hand opening!
and variety blade shape and better material (i.e. droppoint, S90V)
also want micarta or titanium grip plate!
Doe reversible bits work with the holder? Philips/flat combo?
Just received mine, I can't make up my mind which tools I want in it. I keep changing them out which is a good thing. Large scalpel blade fits next to a long tool.
Seeing you with several flexes (weird flex but okay ¦ Þ), and us non-US peasants waiting patiently for the chance to purchase one, raises my envy to palpable levels (extremely jelly).
This is a super useful video though and once the floodgates open it will certainly inform my money flinging decisions.
P.S would bet that people subscribed to the flex update emails will find out its availability from your videos first. ¦D
Hahaha, maybe
So, the Flex (and a few of its inserts) seems to be available on the Roxon Tool (not the regular Roxon) Ali store. Have purchased one and eagerly await its arrival. ᵔᴥᵔ
Pretty cool!
Where is the package opener? Is it out yet? I need it! :D
Great video on a great tool. I'm fitting more long tools as I'm typing this. Thanks!
Can I put the serrated blade and plain blade one next to each other? Like you show the saw and blade?
I’m not able to find the Roxon Flex’s pocket clip on their website
What is the name of that silver roxon pocket knife? I can’t find it anywhere.
When will be one hand opening blade available?
No idea
Although I’m sure it’s too early, do you think they might venture into a miniature version that maybe only handles the short tools and is 4 layers thick instead of 5?
It's a brilliant idea...in fact I'm going to pass this on
Does the Steinwhale bit extender fit and close in the Flex 1/4" bit holder? Or is it too long or thick to close properly?
It's too long to be able to close. The double sided bits securely fit into the Roxon bit holder, though, so you can have a bit with two ends which is nice.
Dom - which is the best pry tool? Chisel? Small file/depth guage? Bottle opener?
Can't wait for the T-shank adapter and the ruler/magnet.
on this tool? or in general?
@@maxlvledc the Flex
When removing the scalpel blade I would highly recomend removing the scalpel holder from the tool and using the pliers to take it from the holder. That's a good way to avoid cutting yourself by accident.
Or use the little plastic thing I didn't bother using 😅
How is the lock up guys any play or wobble ???
I love the idea of this tool, but hate that I need to buy three different blades to get the one that I want.
Just tried to order but they’re not shipping to Australia yet 😢
200. You missed your calling to work for QVC or HSN . Never to late :)
haha, I don't have that kind of energy.
Does anyone know the longest bits the Flex bit adapter can take? 50mm?
The long bit is about 55mm max?
New video idea: Please try double side bit, or different length bits.
So true!!
