@kamojet I'm confused: does that affect the knives in some way I don't know about, making him less valid of an authority within this field? If so, how the hell does that work?

Yellowbirch Outfitters. Different sizes and color combos. I do a pen, pencil, sharpie and SAK (compact of course). Business cards, cash and a pocket comb in the zip pouch in the back. Solid video bud, keep it up!
Agreed. YBO PocKit Pro is very similar to but I think better than the Hide & Drink organizer shown in the video. Bigger pockets and the center open pocket holds a full 5.5” notebook. Can’t beat it.
Just recently have been carrying the Hitch and Timber Pocket tool pouch. Been digging on it so far. Helps the pocket clutter and awkwardness of multitools, flashlights and even change.
Glad to see that you included Hide and Drink. Nobody in the EDC game seems to mention them. I carry one of their minimalist wallets and absolutely love it. And you can't beat the fact that it's the same quality as everyone else's minimalist leather wallets but costs $20
I have a lot of hide and drink items. The slim wallet, that edc pouch in the video, a tool roll and a small zippered waxes canvas pouch for my electronics. Just waiting for a massive messenger bag to replace the one I own now for all my work tools.
I've been carrying that same Hide & Drink pouch since March 2022, and I have loved every day with it. As far as notebooks go, I use one of the small Rite in the Rain 4.625" x 3.5" notebooks and it slides in beautifully. My kit contains the following. Notebook (as mentioned before), one of many Fisher Space Pen Bullets that I own (I swap them around), some paracord, chapstick, OLIGHT I3T EOS, tiny medicine container, nail clippers and file, and small lockpick set. Holds it all very well and isn't bulky in my pocket. HIGHLY recommend this pouch to anyone looking.
I’ve carried the Arc Co for years. I carry a wallet (Saddleback Leather Tri-Fold) and use the Arc Co for a pouch of stuff I use occasionally. So mine, starting at the front 3 slips. Has a Parker Jotter pen, a Fenix LD15R, and the final small pocket I carry a little CountyComm prybar and a small freebie screwdriver (crescent brand but so many brands hand them out, or use to at least.) In the main pocket I have a notebook (field notes knockoff) and a sharpie twin. In the back I have a small flat bottle opener and a hair tie. The prybar and bottle opener are on short lanyards to make them easier to pull out. I love it! For someone who doesn’t plan to stop carrying a wallet I for sure suggest it!
I’ve been carrying the Arc Marksman for about 5 years. It’s held up great. The pockets do stretch a little over time. I also figured out a system for carrying cards and cash in the back pocket: I sandwich cash in between my cards, with the one card I use the most in the front and the other three behind; that separation makes it easy to grab just the one card and gives me something solid against the cash when sliding it in or out.
I much prefer the yellow birch outfitters PocKit or PocKit pro as their sizes fit a fields notes and front pockets are much more well fitted to standard EDC gear. Would highly recommend them over hide and drink
YBO is definitely the best. I carry small items and I'm a traditional knife user, so I love the pocket pico classic carry v2. I've had mine in my pocket everyday for 2 years and it's been great. Nobody else makes a small enough organizer that pockets as well, every other " micro " organizer is a joke compared to the YBO pocket pico because they're all too big. For the classic carry pico, if you need a notepad I use the Dango products p01 pioneer notes. That's their only product I like because I prefer a real wallet ( real wallets are leather and they fold ) , but their p01 pioneer notes is great.
The best is the YBO pocket pico classic carry v2. Yelloe birch makes great stuff, veteran owned, and they have custom request options available. Beyond just color choices too, they will make actual product changes for you. I've had mine in my pocket every day for 2 years, I recently tried the V3 but it couldn't displace my V2. For me it is essential to be able to remove my knife, pen, and small multitool without taking the organizer out of my pocket. The other things I don't mind having to remove my organizer for. I also carry a seperate dedicated wallet in my breast pocket, the organizer is just for my other small pocket items.
Very informative! I ended up just grabbing a fanny pack for my EDC because it was just easier for me living in Hawaii where I pretty much wear boardshorts exclusively (no pockets). Inside the fanny pack I use an Oak City Leather Wilmington Journal Cover for my pen, notes, money and cards, a Long Hunter Supply 4x4 pouch made out of waxed canvas for my zippo, handkerchief and SAK.
This is very helpful, I like wearing shortcuts out here in The Valley, Arizona gets super hot and some days I don’t like carrying my backpack, but with my backpack I can carry my EDC, and also carry what I buy as well, but it depends on my days, my day off, I like to skate, so I have to carry my tools, wax, and hardware as well. So for the most part, I just carry a backpack, my shirt is usually just sagging from the sweat 😅
There is a former SF guy (I think his YT is 3 of 7 project) who has a favorite fannypack CC bag. He wears workout shorts/running shorts, like your situation. It seems like a great choice if your EDC includes a firearm.
I've been carrying the Alpaka Zip Pouch Pro for a little over a month now after hearing you talk about it a while back and I'm really glad I bought one! I carry a Gerber Armbar-Drive, Knipex 4" Cobra, Olight O'Pen Mini, and than some cards and cash in my Zip Pouch Pro
I've been carrying Maxpedition's Micro for about six months now. I like the capacity, which is easily twice that of any of the ones in the video. It also accomplishes this feat without being too much more bulky(fat). The problem I have been dealing with is, once it got broken in, it got soggy, and my gear isn't being held tightly in place anymore. In fact, that's why I'm online watching videos on pocket organizers. I certainly could never use any of the ones you mentioned. I need way more stuff than any of those would carry.
I’ve been using that same Hide & Drink pouch for about 6 months. I put one of those mini Moleskine notebooks in the interior slot, but that phone charger is a good idea. On the front I have a pen, a small Knipex pliers in the middle, and in the small slot I have a Victorinox Solo as it fits perfectly and is a good knife to use around public that may get freaked by big pocket knives. I hardly ever use the zip pocket in back unless it’s for slim flat paper items, as any oddly shaped items in that zipper pocket are being pressed into my leg all day and it gets annoying. The organizer functions perfectly but I am still on the fence about it. While it keeps tools and pocket stuff controlled and not scratching against each other, it really does seem more bulky than I am comfortable with. Probably other organizers would be the same for me, but this is the first one I’ve ever tried…so I wouldn’t want to blame this specific one for being bulky when others probably are as well, I just haven’t experienced them. I just don’t know if I’m comfortable with the concept of an edc pocket organizer, if it works for me. I mean, whenever I’m walking around in public I can see people noticeably eyeing my thigh like they’re thinking “wtf is this guy carrying in that pocket?! Should I be concerned???” And I just feel odd myself having this big bulging thing sticking off my leg. (Feel free to take that last sentence any way you want😂) I’m gonna continue using it at least while I’m at work, because I actually do need the pliers it carries and it seems to be the best way to carry them. I really don’t use the other items in there much; I actually use a pen many times throughout the day, but I have one clipped on my pocket because I need quick access to it; it just doesn’t work to have to reach into my pocket and pull one awkwardly out of the organizer, and then have to pull out the organizer to get the pen back in the right slot when I’m done with it. I use a pen way too much for all that, so the one in the organizer is basically just a back-up. So yeah usually I just take the organizer out after work, and I don’t ever use it on weekends either.
Great video Zac and Jaime. After seeing your alpaca pouch in a past video it made me go on the hunt for an edc pouch of my own. I found an eBay company called Leattweed made in Ukraine and they have so many options in sizes and colors. I’ve been carrying mine everyday for since about the beginning of January and love it.
Alpaka and H&T for sure are the ones that I like. Alpaka has some fun color options too and other pouches that are a bit larger. Never liked the Maxpedition for pocket carry because I’d overload it, but they’re great tool pouches to throw in a bag.
Great little run-down. My EDC pouch is either a Viperade VE-1 or VE-15. Both great pouches. The VE-15 is definitely an option if you like that Alpaca size.
I currently use an Arc Company Bolder Wallet and a seperate card slip and its worked okay so far... but is still a bit tight. I have enjoyed the ability to access my flashlight, pen, and prybar by feel without needing to pull the whole organizer from my pocket. I have a seperate Maxpedition Micro pouch I'd generally carry in a cargo pocket for less accessed tools... but the zipper recently blew out. I recently did a lateral transfer at my work into a different department and haven't defined what tools I need yet... but once I do I may need to check out that Alpaka. I may need to look at a few more
I have been carrying the Hide & Drink for the last few months. I usually carry a Rite In The Rain notebook and pen, a Victorinox Tinker knife, and a Streamlight AA size flashlight. I have had no problem with the sleeves being too tight. In the zipper pocket I keep my “work” debit card, business cards, and some emergency cash. This doesn’t replace my wallet, but really helps organize my stuff. Easy in, easy out.
My favorite EDC pouch i have been using the last 3 years has been the maxpedition micro pocket organizer. I keep lesser used items in it frankly. I keep a zippo with jet insert, Victorinox alox cadet, rite-in-rain notepad in the front webbing, milwaukee inkzall, some medication (pain relivers, flu meds, and caffein capsules), alchohol pads, neosporin packets, sterile tweezers, quick clot guaze pad, and bandaids. It is pretty much my on person first aid kit with some additions. Otherwise i keep a wallet, handkerchief, main folder, traditional slip (usually a large or jumbo stockman) and a flashlight. Now i should also mention i dont wear jeans, i long ago grew to love cargo pants with their massive and numerous pockets. If i wore jeans then i am certain my pouch would be way to bulky to fit into a front pocket but my proppers, 5.11s, and BDUs have more then enough space and dont show much.
I bought the Hid & Drink pouch right after I saw this video. It is a high quality pouch that holds exactly what I need. I went with a more flat gear carry. Starting on the left I went with a small bolt action pen from Olight and in the middle I have an Olight Arkfeld flash light. In the last pocket I have a Leatherman Micra with a waterproof note book on the large pocket in the middle that fits perfectly!
I have both the viperade and Hide and Drink. I found because the Viperade held more, I carried more so recently switched to the H&D to force myself to limit to what I feel I need daily. I usually just throw it in my sling or laptop bag and pull it out as needed - including to put in my pocket if leaving the sling/bag in the truck.
8:57 That's actually a great way to carry it. Just make the sling shorter, so it sits (closer to) under your shoulder. For undercoat carry. Or even just under your outer layer. I got a neck knive at home with a longer paracord string for example, so I can sling it under my shoulder or access it just over my waistband when I'm carrying it under my outter clothes; depending on how straight my upper body is lol. It can peek out when you bend over to the ground though, can be bothersome on an individual level.
Great tips! I just got a sling recently to lighten up the pockets and will definitely try keeping it closer to the shoulder. Looks less like a purse that way lol.
I have been building my everyday carry for the last couple years, it keeps evolving. It differs from when I’m working to when I’m not. One of my favourite punches is the Leatherman tool pouch. I have the learherman raptor, skeletool, but extenders regular and ratcheting, Olight Baton 3 rechargeable and 3 bit kits.
…none of these organizers contained the stuff you showed at the beginning as the stuff you NEEDED to carry… this is a crummy commercial. I hate when guys “carry” stuff just for the advertising value. “Carry what you need, need what you carry” goes straight out the window when there’s a brand name involved.
Good to see the H&D, my edc is the H&D zipped leather fold. Fits my moleskine/field notes perfect plus a little customization inside gets my slim wallet too.
I carry a Yellow Birch Outfitters Modern Pockit every day as my wallet/knife carry. I don’t like carrying anything in my pockets at all, so when I get to my office I like to just remove the organizer and leave it in my desk with my knife. It’s a great way to stow a knife when it’s not clipped to my pocket. I own a few Hitch and Timber pockets too, and they’re great also.
I'm currently using a no-name pouch off of Amazon. The 2 pac ones with the hook & loop American flag patch. You get 2, so I gave one to a friend. Inexpensive. I edc junk pens, a Sharpie, a Nitize pry tool, Zip ties (fold em I half & they slide into one of the front slots). In the zippered area, bandaids, wipes, chapstick, keychain flashlight & spare battery, ear plugs. I carry my notebook & tags, etc, in an Elocsak, in a separate pocket. Thank you for all of the great options. I do have some Hide & Drink items, their great.
Loving my ARC Bolder XL Loaded up with big idea bit bar, knipex xs ,fisher stowaway and some cash. Knife on right pocket with phone. Olight UV AND ARC in my left. Hank in back right. Car key in left rear.
I routinely use some Kosibate pouches. They are similar in form to the Hide & Drink, but made from cheaper (but so far, durable) materials. They have some of the same challenges with the sizes of the slots, such that I don't bother to try to fit my main pocket knife in there (especially since I tend to carry lots of Cold Steel folders). The pen slot though, is more than adequate, even for extra-thick Smoothpro bolt-action pens that I carry in them. Instead, I make my pouches into mini tool kits - Knipex, flat ratchet with an extension and a curated driver set, DuraTech or WorkPro button-lock folding box cutter, and often nail clippers and tweezers. The zipper pouch I use for cash.
About the H&D…The pen slot has a seam about 3/4 of the way down. It stops the slide in of the pen. However, you can get beyond that seam and the pen goes clear to the bottom. What sold me on this pouch was being able to use the zip pocket with using the slots also.
Zip pouch pro has been in my pocket since it dropped bic lighter , fenix 18r v2 , band aids and med stuff in the middle also an extra battery and a small 4in crescent wrench oh and my 🆔 and debit and insurance card in the front zip . Great video man
I recently bought the hitch and timber pouch thanks to this video. Actually, I love to write, and this offers me the opportunity to have a notebook on my pocket all the time without concerning too much. I just pick my wallet and the notebook is there along with a pen and my Swiss army knife. Best unintentional advertising
Glad to see you link up with Buck knives. I have a 110 lightweight that I've added a thumbstud and a pocket clip to for my daily driver. 420 HC is great if done correctly which Buck does! I also have a 118 and an original 110 folder thats 30+ years old and still keeps a good edge. They are old school high quality without the premium price. And the canoe looks sooo nice in the jigged handle scales. But this isnt about Buck....oopsie😂
The Hide and Drink pen slot holds an Ohto or a classic EDC ZebraF-701 pretty well. I throw a Begleiter in the knife slot. Its slightly snug but its got a small leather pull/lanyard for easy retrieval.
I have never heard of these pocket pouches before. These must be a relatively new thing. Now I want one. I also like your slogan... Carry what you need... need what you carry. I need to remember that... with my two computer bags and extra stuff I drag to work lol.
I have the Hide & Drink, I love it, I use it for my i3t in the light spot, a gerber prybrid x in the knife spot(i keep a regularpocket knifeseparate in my pocket), and the Olight O'pen in the pen spot, and I use the Rite in the Rain top binded notepads in the pad spot, in the back zipper I currently only use it for rubber bands and a power pack
I recently got the hide and drinks carrier and works for me have a Tactile turn bulldog action slim, victoinox compact, and fenix e12(aka the zac special) in the front a knipex in the middle and keep a small tape measure lighter with duxt tape eletrical tape and mirco cord wrap aroud it in the back with my diabetic gear still fits in a front jeans pocket but kind of bulky atm
Zac, I own many pocket organizers. Kosibate makes a great one. I carry:Milwaukee Inkzall, Sencut Scepter knife, pen, Field Notes, and Dude wipes inside. Great if you are a White collar dude. Qsp Parrot knife is great too. The marker is a must have.
That's interesting, i took 1 of those organisers that go on the back of seats in cars and added it to one of my back backs just so i had some small pockets inside the main compartment section of mt back pack instead of all the crap just being a big loose mess.. Between my pack and where i added the organiser also made a nice little space to add a water bag with a hose i could attach to the arm strap for drinking water..
It’s a pocket protector. 😂 I use the Deluth Trading DOTF (Dry-On-The-Fly) Pants. They have cargo pockets. The cargo pockets have side zippers, which make accessing stuff from a seated position easy. Cargo pockets fit my leaders patrol kit, and my basic blue collar tools. A modern smart phone centric cut for the hip pockets. And they dry fast, like in the van with the heater on in- between service calls. Great matched up with a Gortex jacket and a cup of coffee in the Pacific North West. They need a wide stiff belt to support the load, cuz they got a wimpy waist hem. Deluth sells a leather pocket protector, meant to keep you from wearing out your pockets in any pants that you choose to carry your EDC in. (Jeans, Carhartt, etc.)
I have that exact VIPERADE pouch. It's perfect, I actually don't carry it in my front pockets. I carry it in the back pocket, jacket, or sweatshirt. I use it as a wallet (top zipper) use a thin "minimalist" metal card holder. Only reason is bc you can crack your id or cards I absolutely love it i keep it thin. An Asher Picket, Olight I3T, O-pen, and I'm adding a pry bar but bar combo
The Country Fold is classy AF. I have a Viperade but don't carry it unless in a cargo pocket; I find it a bit bulky for standard pockets. I wear a jacket 95% of the time, so there is that (That being extra pockets lol). My Viperade is the same design as the H&D except you can also carry a handcuff key in the logo patch.
Fantasticly informative video yet again Zac, like yourself I've being going back and forth with different set-ups, only thing i can't work out is my earbuds case. Any suggestions?

I really don’t use the other items in there much; I actually use a pen many times throughout the day, but I have one clipped on my pocket because I need quick access to it; it just doesn’t work to have to reach into my pocket and pull one awkwardly out of the organizer, and then have to pull out the organizer to get the pen back in the right slot when I’m done with it. I use a pen way too much for all that, so the one in the organizer is basically just a back-up. So yeah usually I just take the organizer out after work, and I don’t ever use it on weekends either.
Always enjoy your videos. You have an infectious positive attitude that makes the videos even better.
Yeah, I’m so sorry, yeah Etsy. Sorry I’ve been on both websites so much lately. Take care
Good choices. I like my SAK Tinker.
@@GOxHAM I'm glad I could be a small source of inspiration!
After your alpaka pro video from a couple of months ago, I've had one ever since. Love it and don't lose or misplace anything! Appreciate you sir.
😂😂 how sad
@@joeswheat I have changed this, just got the Alpaca Utility pouch for Father’s Day, I love it!
I still have my buck folder, bought it at the first base I was stationed at in. 1972 and carried it for years when I got into the Fire Dept.
…none of these organizers contained the stuff you showed at the beginning as the stuff you NEEDED to carry… this is a crummy commercial. I hate when guys “carry” stuff just for the advertising value. “Carry what you need, need what you carry” goes straight out the window when there’s a brand name involved.
real talk
I use a leather "holster" from Tale of Knives for my Leatherman, flashlight and keys. Really helps open my pockets up
Thanks for the information Zac. Great job on the Buck Sponsorship.
I carry the Hide and drink Waxed canvas pocket pouch you showed and I love it..
Just ordered the Alpaka Zip Pouch Pro. I might even try the Clutch for other things. Thanks for your video!
Excellent review. great input.
Thanks for the summary. I got the Viperade.
I’ve been carrying my Alpaca zip pouch (nonPro) for two years and it’s my favorite minimalist carry pouch /wallet that I’ve tried.
I've been using the Kosibate large EDC pouch for a few years now and it holds everything I need and more.
Have this exact same pouch. I use the middle slot as a spare magazine holder for my pocket carry pistol. Perfect size for small mags.
I love my ARC! Thanks for the video.
I just picked up Hitch and Timbers zip tool pouch, really digging it.
I have to agree about Yellow Birch Outfitters. Really well made and great customer service too.
Good to see the H&D, my edc is the H&D zipped leather fold. Fits my moleskine/field notes perfect plus a little customization inside gets my slim wallet too.
Thank you for this video! I had no idea there were solutions like this. Cheers!
Ive been carrying a Maxpedition Pocket Organizer Mini and loving it!
Your videos are awesome. They always got great information. Thank you for sharing your information
The alpaka is perfect from the video when you first got it got me hooked an I had to get one an no complaints thanks for showing
I'm carrying the Zip pouch Pro and it's a perfect fit for my needs. I"m it with my bladeless tools and it fits everything I need to carry perfectly
I love all my buck knives with the great leather sheaths!
All great choices. Cheers.!
Loving my ARC Bolder XL
Loaded up with big idea bit bar, knipex xs ,fisher stowaway and some cash.
The zipper pouch I use for cash.
great detailed review!💙
About the H&D…The pen slot has a seam about 3/4 of the way down. It stops the slide in of the pen. However, you can get beyond that seam and the pen goes clear to the bottom. What sold me on this pouch was being able to use the zip pocket with using the slots also.
Thanks for the info on buck, im going to grab some of their new stuff.. greetings from Central Valley California
I use a Viperade VE15 to carry a Knipex Cobra XS, a Victorinox Hiker, and my cards and ID, in my pocket.
Liking it so far.
Great video!
Great video. Much love to Buck. I have my 450 into them for repairs.
I appreciate your perspective on carrying cash. It's something I always carry and doesn't get focused on enough with gear reviewers.
I really like the backdrop in this video, nice selection!
Great video zac and I use the Viperade pocket pouch
I carry the hide and drink pouch . back left pocket, metal pen, knipex pliers, comb and notebook. Tissues in the zippered compartment
Awesome video, Zac! My favorite pouch is the Yellow Birch PocKit Pico Classic.
Nice! I got to check it out🤘
I 2nd this. The Pico is awesome! Its a minimal version of the Hide & Drink basically and fits a standard 3x4 spiral notebook in the top slot.
I need to remember that... with my two computer bags and extra stuff I drag to work lol.
amazing locations!
Great video!!
Used a pocket organizer for 20 years when I was in the Army. Put in my BDU Cargo Pocket.
I have quite a few of the Alpaka pouches. The Zip Pouch Pro is as large as I'd use for pocket carry.
Also, a big fan of the MKM Mikro. 😀
I have both the 110 and the 112 buck knives. Huge fan of both.
Love this video!
You seriously carry a pair of pliers all day everyday?!?
The way you act during the video and the kind of personality you seem to have is awesome. I am subbed. Great video as well.
First of all, i didnt even realize that all the stuff i have in my pockets is called Pocket Granola but i felt it and understood it! Thanks!
Have carried a few of those, but a pared down minimalist EDC fits in the recycled firefighter pocket caddy and its so slim and streamlined
I run the Alpaka and found a mini notebook from Dango that fits it well. Have it paired with the Olight mini bolt action pen.
I use the Deluth Trading DOTF (Dry-On-The-Fly) Pants.
Liked Subscribed! Thanks a bunch ☺
Those some cute pocket purses.
I have that exact VIPERADE pouch. It's perfect, I actually don't carry it in my front pockets. I carry it in the back pocket, jacket, or sweatshirt.
I use it as a wallet (top zipper) use a thin "minimalist" metal card holder. Only reason is bc you can crack your id or cards
I absolutely love it i keep it thin.
Hi Zac After much anguished decision making . I'm roll'in with the Viperade VE18. Looks like it'll work well with my EDC, sans the straps.
Cool video idea.
Buck as a sponsor. Love that. They have a cool knife out with a unique opening and closing mechanism. Just wish it was big enough for my xxl hands.
Great video, not a fan of pocket organizers myself but still enjoying the content!
Fantasticly informative video yet again Zac, like yourself I've being going back and forth with different set-ups, only thing i can't work out is my earbuds case.
Any suggestions?
