I put an SSD in my PS4 around 2018 and when I upgraded to my PS5 in 2021 I took the SSD out and used as an external drive for playing PS4 games and storing PS5 ones. I put the old hard drive back in played a few games and the SSD makes a HUGE difference. Probably the best upgrade ever especially with load times, loading in textures and with more consistent FPS in demanding games. Also very easy to do even on the original PS4

I remember when I bought my ps4 with my brother last year: "Do you want 500Gb or 1Tb?" "Uhhhhhhh, just buy a 500Gb one, I wont play that many games on it anyways" And now here I am having space problems. Edit: about 7 months after this comment was written I switched out my 500 gb hard drive with a 1tb one with the help of my brother.
The PS4 slim is still a very capable gaming and entertainment console, it has a massive library of games as well good support for entertainment with regular Netflix/Netflix updates. The slim even uses much less power than the OG model so it doesn’t sound like a jet engine on use. Great video anyway- Now is time to get the LAST PS4 PRO and compare that with PS4 & PS5
honesly this ps4 is kinda useless since it has no 4k blu ray support i was looking for, yea its a fine machine for just streaming and such but it would be nice to have a 300 dollar console that can also play 4k bluray (the players themselves are like 250 bucks)
@@wbtbwb360I just started into that gen. with a bargain PS4 Pro for 210. HDD already replaced with a 1TB SSD and still running on old Firmware from 2019 :)
I remember buying my 1TB PS4 slim in 2017 brand new for $200 +tax and it was a solid console for the 5 years I’ve had it. I have since moved to the PS5 last August, but there are some things I miss going from PS4 to 5 like the UI and the background themes. If you can find a Slim for cheap, I’d say go for it even if its used (I didn’t fully agree with Austin to just buy a new one for over $300). As for the Series S comparison, get an external hard drive or SSD for games not optimized for next gen or to store next gen games that you’re not going to play until later. I don’t know why Austin didn’t bring that up in his Series S bit in the video.
Played my old day one ps4 slim again recently because I’ve been living away from my home. It gives you a real feeling of the differences and how far we’ve come.
I have a ps5 in the living room, but I still use my ps4 slim sometimes and it feels really good still, especially since I upgraded it to a 1TB SSD as well. The UI loads an insane amount faster
The big reason was scalpers and the high demand for the latest transistors, people couldnt get their hands on it. I believe they even mentioned it when they talked about increasing ps4 production during the chip shortage, the older tansistors were easier and cheaper to get.
I have one of these in our truck. The only console other than the switch we can run off the stock electrical system. Pulls about 80w on average. Works perfect on a generator with a battery
The Series S draws 90 watts peak. I know because I used it on a long car ride down to Dallas, as well as a monitor that draws 30 watts peak. For how much more performance you get for the price, it’s probably worth it.
Im a travel person too bro.. Can u be spesific which one of battery generator would work, please?🙏 I had ps4 together with ps5 with portable monitor attached on top of 'em but those battery charging generators wont last 30minutes..thats cruel to me im in the middle of some sort of game story when it sudden black screen..damn
@@Actroids yeah, never use a battery powered generator for a console. You’re better off getting a gas powered one connected to a battery back up. I personally bought a WEN 4750w with a Duracell Power Station battery back up connected to it. I mainly bought it for the PA system for Boy Scouts which could go a couple days of constant use with a gallon of gas But when it comes to gaming, it will cycle for about 24 to 30 hours before you need to put more gas in it. The consumption with a monitor comes to 120 W
Thank you for this video Austin. I know you weren’t just super eager too just give the Series S it’s flowers over the beloved PS4 especially taking into consideration how great the PS4 has been the past 10yrs but you did it & I commend you on that my friend great content I always enjoy you’re coverage.
It's worth using the PS4 for themes since my PS5 does not have them... I really hope that changes. When I boot the PS4 I get to see/hear my cool backgrounds!
austin complaining about how the ps4 in only supported by 1080p... meanwhile me here with a ps3 super slim with broken hdmi port playing on 560p supported by av thinking the graphics are great
I remember buying the Spider-Man ps4 bungle and that came with the physical disc back in I wanna say 2018 on Black Friday. Only downside I see is that mw2 isn’t physical only digital which is a downside but same time isn’t a huge deal since I have it on digital myself.
Just picked up a PS4 Slim w 500gb HDD. Upgraded to a 1tb SSD and managed to get a new DualShock 4 V2 for a great price - feels like I've got a whole new machine. Love how easy Sony made it to swap out the drives. Awesome vid man. Gonna enjoy finally playing the Spiderman and God of War games!
Back during pandemic, I managed to sell my PS4 Slim (FFXV edition) that I got used from Japan, for basically same price…. After playing on it for almost 5 years. So yeah, definitely keeping those values, although having PS4 shortage probably also helped. Honestly, the only reason I have not been getting my PS4 Slim SSD for so long, is because PS5 is coming, and 60$ is quite a big percentage of 500$. I think PS4 will have quite a long tail of software coming out for it just like PS2. Developers making games just for PS5 need to consider whether their game reaaaally need SSD and extra GPU of PS5. Alot of game does not. Releasing a game on PS4 will ensure that many extra install bases compared to just releasing on PS5.
It is not the same price. Inflation during 5 years was something like 250-300% . You basically sold for 1/3 to 1/2 of the original price, which is usual for used hardware.
I like how good the base ps4 runs new games make the prospects of steam deck really good considering it’s roughly the same raw power while targeting a lower resolution with 9 year newer architecture that makes it really exciting to see how long steam deck can run new games
I have a feeling they'll keep developing games for the PS4 for some time, given the current install base. They've sold 116+ million PS4s, developers are going to want to still get in on that player base who haven't bought a PS5 yet (which has sold 32 million so far) Remember, the PS2 got FIFA 14 (the same year the PS4 came out!) Major releases will get a few more years, and I foresee indie stuff for ages as long as the PS4 store still operates.
that's a very good point, just look how long Ubisoft kept on releasing the Just Dance games on the Wii till 2020 even after they stopped supporting the Wii U, and other systems of that era, and I could be 100% wrong, but I see another 3 - 5 years of games at least from the major studios, and indie games that don't require high end system specs till Sony decides to stop supporting the online services for the PS4.
@@temubarrackslawyer I'm not saying it's not time to move on, but the way markets work, wouldn't a game company be smarter to make a game for the system that has can sell to 116+ million systems, and the 32+ million PS5s rather than just the PS5s
If you are on a tight budget, and don't care about playing on a large display, or having the best of the best graphics, then I have to say the Switch Lite at $200 new is a fantastic value for the vast amount of games it has, and the fact you can take it with you. @ $300+ I'd start looking around at some used PC gear, and installing a good Linux distro on it like Solus Linux for some STEAM gaming.
I went with the Steam Deck. Sure, it cost $400 rather than $200 and it is larger. Not quite as portable. But among other advantages, I have a huge Steam library already, as opposed to buying Switch games for $60 a piece. And I'm not done with my Wii U so, many games are very similar to what I already have. But yes, $200 for such a capable portable system is impressive and fun. Good for consumers to have choices.
@@ry8n1 Yes and no. There's always games on sale, and getting a pre-owned switch game can cut the cost down by a lot, depending on if it's one of Nintendo's "big 3" franchises (Zelda, Mario, Pokemon). On top of that, the cost of the games is heavily offset by incredibly cheap Nintendo Online - around $20 for a YEAR. Xbox Live Gold is $11 a month, and PSPlus is $60 a year. If you're on a budget *and* looking to play multiplayer, the Switch lite is a much better deal. If you don't care about Live/Plus (which a lot of games are forcing you to get anyway), then the Xbox Series S or PS4 Slim is the better deal.
@@jolteon345 preowned switch games hold there value alot more than ps and xbox especially 1st party nintendo ones. The digital sales are also nearly always better for same games on the ps and xbox. For most cases its not best for budget gaming unless you just playing a few mutiplayer online games, in fact if I didnt have alot of spare cash for gaming i think it the worst format to be on.
The thing that annoyed me the most about the PS4 when it came out was that it didn’t support external storage, and despite it being the most requested feature, Sony didn’t add it until well after the PS4 Pro was released. I had to buy larger internal drive, so I went with the largest laptop drive I could fine, it didn’t fit into the PS4 Pro … I had to get cables to extend the internal connection outside of the console, its still like that to this day … mostly because I switched to Xbox as my primary console, it had external HDD support from day one along with a bunch of other quality of life features that the PS4 lacked at the time like the Quick Menu that allowed you to access the party chat without switching from your game, also I think Xbox has overall better value with Game Pass/Backwards Compatibility/Cross-Platform Support, and I often found the sale prices of third-party games were better than on PSN. It’s also getting harder to support Sony’s anti-consumer business practices, when Microsoft has been doing so much better in that regard in recent years. It’s almost like they switched places in terms of consumer friendliness at some point between the PS3/X360 and the PS4/XB1 generations. Ultimately, now I just play the exclusives on PlayStation, everything else is on Xbox or PC.
@@TKIvanov it was, there are some that are slightly thicker. There are 3 common thicknesses for 2.5” drives, 7mm, 9.5mm and 15mm. But obviously, you know everything, since you didn’t even bother looking it up before commenting.

I started to use my ps4 early model with the shiny top that slides off. I haven't used it since launch. I'm so mad I haven't touched a Sony system since ps2. I'm loving it, the fun games, trophies. Yeah I can play Xbox on my pc, but these games are so casual and just fun!!!
If you really want a PS4 slim brand new, the MWII bundle sounds like an amazing deal as you arent losing so much money, if you dont want mwII you can always just give it away to someone who wants it Would be great if it was a disc and not a digital code so you could use it in multiple PS4's
PS5 is still $700 plus in Australia, it's just not in reach for a lot of people. My PS4 Pro is still going strong (bought new Xmas 2019), and I could probably extend that with an SSD upgrade.
The one thing crazy about the ps4 is how expensive the controllers are still. Even duing sales it stays at its $60 price compared to the Ps5 controller dropping in price being much cheaper.
A lot of people still have PS4s so naturally there will probably be higher demand for controllers as well. There’s also the fact that the moment Sony stops selling controllers for a console, the market is immediately flooded with fakes. So people have probably learned their lesson from PS3 and are stockpiling DS4s this time around
I actually bought a PS4 from Sony when they announced last year that they would be doing a final million run of PS4s and then they made way more and that bundle. Maybe someday it'll be worth a lot more since I kept it sealed in the box and everything
Nah it might be worth more dollars but with inflation you'll probably be lucky if you even get your money back considering these are half the price on the used market already
I'll point you to PS2's. No your PS4 won't be worth much. They sold more than 100 million of these things. Unless you have a super rare short print run special edition in box, you'll be lucky to make your money back. Don't buy game consoles as an investment.
@@devilmikey00 couldn't agree more. If anything this guy just bought a box to take up space in his place. Ngl theres much more smarter investments than a ps4. Ps4s are probably the worst investment since like you said its one of the most sold consoles ever!
PS4 is still sold here in Poland new in electronic stores as well. Around 330 $ for console alone (Slim 500 GB), 370 $ for CoD: Modern Warfare 2 bundle (as one in video, but one on video actually has 1 TB HDD). Crazy.
i cant lie when i saw this video i instantly got negitive thoughts because of the fact about almost 10 years has passed after the ps4s original launch of november 2013 and i got ps4 on december 10th 2019 (i was 11 btw) and when i watched this video i got extremely relieved because most of the things that you had said was mostly positive information so thank you austin for keeping my hopes up and still letting me know that the ps4 still has some sense of power left in it. (you forgot about the jet engine part but i feel like every ps4 user has heard it at "LEAST" once or twice.)
Even if support is waning, the PS4 still benefits from a huge library of games. If you only had yours a few years ago, you've still got some valuable time ahead exploring its library.
PS4 Slim is really quiet and never ramps up like the Pro for example. He didn't forget, it just isn't true for PS4 Slim. And i really don't want to sound mean, but why would you need Austin's opinion on it? If you still use your PS4, you should know what's going on. Hell, the RE4 Remake says pretty much everything haha
I know this was over a year ago, but honestly with the prices of PS4s right now, they're the best budget friendly consoles you can get if you're not looking for the brand new PS5 exclusive games. I had a PS5 but had to sell it about a year ago when my hours go cut at work, but I've still had my Series S, which I just recently got a Seagate interal SSD expansion card for, is awesome. However, a lot of games I had on PS were mainly just PS4 games, so I just got one. I was able to get a blue Days of Play special edition PS4 Slim for $140. There's a bunch of just base PS4 models as well as black slims going for cheaper, like $100-120. Anyone in the Xbox ecosystem who wants to dip their toes into Playstation exclusives for cheap and have a bunch of titles-I mean you have the whole PS4 catalog to play, it's a really good time to get a PS4 on the cheap.
In the past I would choose the PlayStation4 and it’s cheap library of amazing games over the Xbox series, 2 games a year. However with its studio acquisitions lately, and game pass, they will be on track to release lots more games! It’s a good time to be a gamer.
I still have my ps4 that I got around the time Red Dead 2 came out and I don't plan on getting rid of it until games I want to play start only getting released on the PS5. I also have a PC now so it would have to be an exclusive that REALLY blows me out of the water. God of War Ragnarok runs great on the PS4 (according to DF) so I plan on getting it for that eventually.
I can vouch for that, got Ragnarok the day it came out on PS4 (1st game I've bought day 1 in a REALLY long time) and it looks and plays surprisingly good on PS4!
I could have bought a brand new ps4 pro at Walmart 2 weeks ago for 399.99 but I took my ps4 pro to gamestop and traded it in for 227.67 plus 2 controllers for 60.00. I paid 543.47 for a ps5 slim and an extra controller. I'm pretty happy right now with gamestop. I have NEVER had a problem with gamestop.
@Gfghgcfg you got burned, I had a red controller and a black and they gave me 10 bucks more for the red be cause it was more "rare" than the black, plus they were both in excellent condition, no drift or anything. My ps4 pro was in mint shape no scratches 1TB, I covered it when I didn't use it. Plus I was a platinum member so I got 20% more on all trade-ins. Yea I love gamestop, never had a problem with them. Sorry you had a bad deal. It's the employees mostly. If you have good people working there they treat you right.
Specific PlayStation models are being sold for around 12 years: PS1 1994-2006, PS2 2000-2013, PS3 2006-2017 So we can expect PS4s to be produced until 2024-2025
if sony releases an update that optimizes performance for SSDs on PS4, the PS4 pro could be a great 1440p60 machine for 300. they could make newer games at 1440p medium settings and have newer games require a newer software with an SSD. kinda like a ps4.5 or something like that. sell the pro model only with a 1tb ssd for 300.
I'm a PC gamer. If i were to get a consdole it would be a PS4. The only reason I haven't is because I find them to be expensive considering how old they are and can't justify it.
PS5 now has the ability to play natively some PS1 and PS2 games. You still need the premium sub but it seems to be improving. They even have trophy support!
I think ps3 will happen eventually as well once emulation of the platform is more stable. It’s more than powerful enough, just have to optimize it (and considering how good Xbox is in the emulation department right now, I think they might end up with an RPCS3 port.
Native would be inserting the discs it’s emulation. The PS3 80gb had a hybrid style of this you could insert your PS2 games into the console it would read the discs but the console would then emulate the games. I believe there was a emulation chip on the mother board. The 60gb PS3 had native hardware those console had the PS2 cpu and gpu.
My biggest problem with the ps5 as someone who plays play station games a lot is i dont have the room for such a big console to stand or to lay down the ps4 slim fits perfectly into my media center and does not jump out at me like a giant white wifi router does and thats the main reason i wont be upgrading anytime soon
I have a slim when it was new and its slower than the new ps4 slim. And it’s probably because the age but the new one is significantly snappier when it comes to the quick menu. I think we are getting to a time where systems are all getting good enough to make good games.
The slowness is from the internal hdd (basically the files are all over the place on the hdd) to fix it rebuild the database or upgrade to an internal ssd.
Best thing you can buy is the ps4 9.00 version so you can jailbreak and play whatever you want including new games and OG ps2 ps1 game boy Nintendo 64 ext..
I grabbed forbidden west last year and that was what convinced be to seek out a PS5. Forbidden west just looked and felt bad to play. It was blurry, the higher detail world was phasing in just a few feet around you giving this really odd pixelated effect to vegetation and at least on my TV the 30 fps just didn't feel right. I couldn't even make it through the prologue, it hurt my eyes and made me feel kind of sick because of the way the motion was. I put my PS4 out to pasture after that, she had a good run but new stuff just wasn't very nice to play on it anymore.
I repasted my ps4 after it being really loud whenever you turn it on yet it still kicks the fans on after about an hour or 2 of playing. I think mine has also reached its end of life and is showing its age.
I watched some cutscene comparison videos of Forbidden West (between PS5 and PS4 Pro) and I actually found the "better" graphics on the PS5 to look more uncanny. After that, I just ordered a PS4 copy right away (during last Black Friday) since I don't already have a PS5 and don't see the point in waiting to get a PS5 copy until I get a PS5 likely years later.

It's really only capable of 1080p max, but that doesn't bother me. I got a 4K TV that I watch 4K movies on through my Xbox One S. I'll really be able to take advantage of that TV once I get a PS5.

Sony just announced that about 1/2 of their customers are using.... PS4. And they are still selling them!! I just picked up a refurbished PS4 Pro for less than 250$ and it was in near mint condition and it has a LOT more TFLOPS than the standard PS4.... hard to believe. I purchased it basically for media consumption, but the fact that it plays games.... well, icing on the cake.
You can add an inexpensive external SSD to the Series S via the USB ports. My Series S has two external drives attached, I have one 2 TB SSD and a 2 TB HDD and it works great. Games that are optimized for Series X|S will need to be installed on the internal storage but its very easy to transfer games back and forth from the external drives. Also, most games from last gen will run on the external SSD with no issues. Not all Series X|S optimized games need to be installed on the internal SSD.
I got my ps4 fat from Gamestop as a preowned console back in 2016. It was a spotless and very clean example like a brand new one. I loved Gamestops they were always very kind and helpful with me. I have nothing but good experiences with them and my ps4 is still rocking hard.
I'm going to say this, gamers destroyed gaming. We have such high expectation nowadays when it comes to graphics that game companies neglect gameplay and storyline. We give game companies a short period of time to create a high def and high graphic game, but when it comes out and the storyline/gameplay suffers, we complain. Typical modern day gamers, instant gratification, entitled and selfish.
No, lol. This is so wrong. People only care about performance the way they do because marketing companies told them that's what matters every time they sell a new console generation.
At least the PS4 does still have the option of buying an external hard drive and plugging it in and using it. So you are able to expand your memory in the system that way. The PlayStation five and the Xbox series X don’t allow you to do that. Which for me as a major drawback. I don’t have $200 to drop on a memory stick in the case of Xbox.
You should really go back and look at an xbox one year one edition with an external ssd upgrade! I think you'd be surprised how much better it is with an ssd. I still use mine today. Currently watching your channel on it.🤘
PS4 is already legacy console ,majority of AAA game developers are supporting it but after 2-3 years only FIFA and WWE games will be available and it is fact . But if you are homebrew enthusiast and willing to play around with emulators , mods for games and so on it is your chance to snatch a brand new console and stay offline waiting for jailbreak .
Honestly I'm surprised Dualshock 4 controllers have not majorly dropped in price. At some point during sales the Dualsense is more cheaper then the Dualshock 4
Someone answer me this. Why can't I use the media player on my ps4 slim? It's brand new, and every time I try to open it, it says "Could not find application. Would you like to look for it in playstation store?" So I have it take me to the playstation store, and there it is, but it says "Start" not download. And when I hit start, and takes me to the same page I was on. Is it my fault? Or did Sony take it away?
I think I have the best combo, I got a PS5 disk edition since I have physical PlayStation games, a Xbox Series S since all my Xbox games are digital, and I play them on PC most of the time anyways. I think that those consoles are the best combo you can get for this generation.
I still have a standard ps4 that has a manufacture date of 2014. I have never changed anything about the system. Yet while I see some certain load spike in game like Ark and Call of Duty, I still run it almost daily since I got it and it’s staying strong.
If playstation was actually smart, they would build a system that you can just upgrade like you do you pc, and just sell hardware upgrades, and then game devs wouldnt have to keep making more versions of same games, for different consoles
When I upgraded my PS4 to a PS5 just a few months ago, I kept it, moved it to my bedroom. Remote play ps5 and play PS4 games. It's been awesome. I think the PS5 is amazing but u gotta realize, some people don't have an extra $200. They also may not have a 4k display, etc. So if their PS4 goes out, they may not want to upgrade for the price, and they may not have the TV for it. They especially wouldn't want to switch to Xbox if they are invested in the accessories and ecosystem.
The one thing that holds the PS4 back as a media center is that it's the first disk-based (UMD doesn't count) PlayStation console that doesn't support audio CDs. Which I still have.
Its the same price because ps4 sells at the same price that it cost 2 built. and discounts you see in stores are just taking price off the profit money the stores make. So, in my opinion. its a bit unfair to say that they are too expensive. They are just not worth it anymore. That should be the conclusion.
It's 300 because it's bundled with an almost 100 dollar game, also the other 300 dollar PS4 you showed has a 1 TB internal, so yeah, a normal 500 gig ps4 is way cheaper
I mean it made sense until like a few months ago because the PS5 was impossible to get but now you can just walk into a store and get one so there’s absolutely no reason for this especially when the Xbox Series S is the same price.
See...this is my kind of thing.. I have wanted a playstation ever since the PS2 slim came out.. Haven't had anything since.. This PS4 would be a great buy
I love how surprised this guy sounds. He does understand and realize that PlayStation fives just became actually available in stores and in displays less than two months ago, right
Easiest fix for the limited storage issue. Get an internet connection that lets you download 70gb games in 30 mins. And before you say that's expensive and you pay for it every month. It's nickels and dimes, when you have a decent paying job and gaming is your hobby.

Still going strong with my ps4 in 2023, I love this console

I remember when I bought my ps4 with my brother last year:
"Do you want 500Gb or 1Tb?"
"Uhhhhhhh, just buy a 500Gb one, I wont play that many games on it anyways"
And now here I am having space problems.
Edit: about 7 months after this comment was written I switched out my 500 gb hard drive with a 1tb one with the help of my brother.
Lol
you can connect an external hard drive or replace the hard disk with a bigger hard disk or SSD, just connect a eHDD
Lmfao if you get a ps5 ever get 2tb sad
My friend and I got external hard drives for that very reason

The PS4 slim is still a very capable gaming and entertainment console, it has a massive library of games as well good support for entertainment with regular Netflix/Netflix updates. The slim even uses much less power than the OG model so it doesn’t sound like a jet engine on use. Great video anyway- Now is time to get the LAST PS4 PRO and compare that with PS4 & PS5
Doesn't justify the 300$ price tag. At 100$ sure.

The idea of getting a new console should transition more into moving the old console to another room or spare room instead of forgetting it
Yep. I have my N64, NES classic and SNES classic on a HDMI switcher on a HD dumb TV. PS4 on another. PS5 on my UHD 4K TV.

@@Actroids yeah, never use a battery powered generator for a console. You’re better off getting a gas powered one connected to a battery back up.
I personally bought a WEN 4750w with a Duracell Power Station battery back up connected to it. I mainly bought it for the PA system for Boy Scouts which could go a couple days of constant use with a gallon of gas
But when it comes to gaming, it will cycle for about 24 to 30 hours before you need to put more gas in it. The consumption with a monitor comes to 120 W

After my PS5 came in the mail nye 2020 I sold my 2 year old 500gb PS4 slim for $175
Apple has the same sort of resell value. I sold my scuffed up AirPods 2nd Gen that were missing AN EARBUD for 60$
It is not the same price. Inflation during 5 years was something like 250-300% . You basically sold for 1/3 to 1/2 of the original price, which is usual for used hardware.
Imagine in 2027 another PS4 FIFA game comes out 😂
Nice, Used PS4 prices went up from about 100€ in the summer of 2021 to 200€ in the summer of 2022 in my country.
It’s been 10 years. It’s time to move on.

The Xbox Series S is the same price of a old PS4
I went with the Steam Deck. Sure, it cost $400 rather than $200 and it is larger. Not quite as portable. But among other advantages, I have a huge Steam library already, as opposed to buying Switch games for $60 a piece. And I'm not done with my Wii U so, many games are very similar to what I already have. But yes, $200 for such a capable portable system is impressive and fun. Good for consumers to have choices.
switch is the most expensive for games so its the worst option for people on a tight budget, unless you planning to get a hacked one.
It didn't fit?! Then it wasnt a "laptop drive" aka a 2.5" HDD.

The one thing crazy about the ps4 is how expensive the controllers are still. Even duing sales it stays at its $60 price compared to the Ps5 controller dropping in price being much cheaper.
Fr i found some brand new ds4s for upwards of 100 euros wtf
A lot of people still have PS4s so naturally there will probably be higher demand for controllers as well. There’s also the fact that the moment Sony stops selling controllers for a console, the market is immediately flooded with fakes. So people have probably learned their lesson from PS3 and are stockpiling DS4s this time around
I actually bought a PS4 from Sony when they announced last year that they would be doing a final million run of PS4s and then they made way more and that bundle. Maybe someday it'll be worth a lot more since I kept it sealed in the box and everything

Ps4 is the goat of consoles hands down
For real the best
Ps3 started all modern games
Nah what u on abt ps5 is wayy better than ps4. The only reason they like old consoles are for the “nostalgia” but stats wise ps5 is the best
Ps5 may have better specs but what's the point of good specs if you have like 2 original exclusive games
Also ps5 has no themes and no web browser, its only good game wise but everything else like streaming sucks
Specific PlayStation models are being sold for around 12 years: PS1 1994-2006, PS2 2000-2013, PS3 2006-2017
So we can expect PS4s to be produced until 2024-2025
if sony releases an update that optimizes performance for SSDs on PS4, the PS4 pro could be a great 1440p60 machine for 300. they could make newer games at 1440p medium settings and have newer games require a newer software with an SSD. kinda like a ps4.5 or something like that. sell the pro model only with a 1tb ssd for 300.

It's not native it's a emulation
@@The_MEMEphis its not streaming is what I am alluding to
Native would be inserting the discs it’s emulation. The PS3 80gb had a hybrid style of this you could insert your PS2 games into the console it would read the discs but the console would then emulate the games. I believe there was a emulation chip on the mother board. The 60gb PS3 had native hardware those console had the PS2 cpu and gpu.

I have a slim when it was new and its slower than the new ps4 slim. And it’s probably because the age but the new one is significantly snappier when it comes to the quick menu.

One absolutely massive flaw with series S is good luck playing second hand disc games
Finally, a good video!!!. This is a good tech review, not a buch of guys throwing boxes and screaming ...
PS4 came out in 2013 ;-)
I got my ps4 fat from Gamestop as a preowned console back in 2016.
Typical modern day gamers, instant gratification, entitled and selfish.
good take
No, lol. This is so wrong. People only care about performance the way they do because marketing companies told them that's what matters every time they sell a new console generation.
High expectations or most games aren't evolving the gaming landscape?
At least the PS4 does still have the option of buying an external hard drive and plugging it in and using it. So you are able to expand your memory in the system that way. The PlayStation five and the Xbox series X don’t allow you to do that. Which for me as a major drawback. I don’t have $200 to drop on a memory stick in the case of Xbox.

Or did Sony take it away?
the ps4 wont discontinue til 2025
I think I have the best combo, I got a PS5 disk edition since I have physical PlayStation games, a Xbox Series S since all my Xbox games are digital, and I play them on PC most of the time anyways. I think that those consoles are the best combo you can get for this generation.
I paid less for my ps5 than that lol
Damn really, ps5 digital?
austin keep up the great work
Buying xbox series s is more worth than buying a ps4
I just sold a series S for 150
Nothing will ever beas the ps4 slim 1tb, god of war, last of us, horizon zero dawn bundle that was $199 on Black Friday years ago
❤❤❤
you get the the first medal
That SSD upgrade on the PS4 Pro fixed a lot of issues in Cyberpunk 2077 in the early days of the game
0:12 ever heard of inflation ?
The ps4 is 11 years old, as time goes on the price of the components drops. that ps4 probably costed around 150 dollars to manufacture
That's not how inflation works
At my Walmart they have a 1TB PS4 slim for over $300, does not include any games. They keep getting them in stock the last couple of months.
ITS 2023 GET A PS5
NO
I still have a standard ps4 that has a manufacture date of 2014. I have never changed anything about the system. Yet while I see some certain load spike in game like Ark and Call of Duty, I still run it almost daily since I got it and it’s staying strong.
Runs strong….. but very loud on newer games?
Regretted selling my OG PS4 when I got my desktop. It was such a good media powerhouse in the living room
4:40 why did he say making like that?
It's 300 because it's bundled with an almost 100 dollar game, also the other 300 dollar PS4 you showed has a 1 TB internal, so yeah, a normal 500 gig ps4 is way cheaper
No it's 350$without the game it would be 300
@@elias8219the cod its bundled with is 60 bucks, and it comes with bonus items, so like 100
Great video, Austin!
He does understand and realize that PlayStation fives just became actually available in stores and in displays less than two months ago, right
while it might be crazy to buy a new ps4, just as crazy as putting an ssd in it, and thinking 2 seconds is a great improvement.
I seriously do not think the ps4 and xbox one's graphics have aged. They still look super good.
Easiest fix for the limited storage issue. Get an internet connection that lets you download 70gb games in 30 mins. And before you say that's expensive and you pay for it every month. It's nickels and dimes, when you have a decent paying job and gaming is your hobby.
It would be interesting to go back to the original playstation, no revision, no analog controller and see how it all began.
