I agree, the PS3 gets hate because people with 360s didn't understand it. It was the cheapest blue ray player on the market at the time on top of being a fantastic game console. My biggest theory is that the 360 has the reputation it has because people's parents didn't want to shell out the money for it, so they bought their kids a cheap 360 arcade instead

All my friends ended up moving to PC as well.
I still have a base PS4 (Uncharted 4 edition). The controller already failed on me but the console itself is going strong (even though it's been sounding like a jet engine lately). I still play on it on a regular basis, in fact I used it a lot more than my PS5 in the past few weeks (been replaying Bloodborne and Dark Souls with it). I wasn't a huge fan of the parallelogram design of the PS4. I was always super-conscious about dinging one of the sharp corners. Small annoyance though. I loved the system and its games.
I absolutely love the Xbox 360 controller as far as the shape and the triggers and sticks go.. but my favorite controller of all time is the Xbox one S/X controller with its pinpointed concave lipped sticks!! Rumble triggers!! And a D pad that might even rival the PS4 pad in terms of being able to pull off your motions in fighting games like Tekken and SoulCaliber? But I think the PS3 controller is a classic as I've been playing with it this past month playing fallout3 GOTY and I was blown away with how good it feels in your hands as it has been a while since I played my PS3!! The PS4 controller is great, but I disliked that they got rid of pressure sensitive buttons (even though those last generation PS3 controllers did not have the best sensitivity as it got cheaper throughout the lifespan..) but the PS four controller is awesome and feels perfect in your hands other than the sticks being kind cave and convex at the same time cancels either of each of those out?!? it makes me want to put some Xbox one S sticks, on my PS4 controller??? Because they literally "stick" to your thumbs as long as your thumb is covering the concave part!! if you have small, thumbs it might not feel this way? Anyways, great video
So, I grew up with PC gaming during the 90s/early 2000s. Owned 2 consoles during that time: PS1 and GameBoy Colour, and those perhaps had even more playtime than PC. Since then, no consoles except a brief period with the PS3 and PSP, due to hackability (which was interesting) but quickly sold after 3 months due to non-use. For myself I cannot justify owning a console anymore.
I like Ps5 because they are on sale for $375 and play 90% of newest games that are out and coming out in 2025 if you look it up . That is cheap modern gaming .
Sonys solid track record and momentum in the second half of PS3 helped the PS4 become a huge success. Microsoft started being really lazy and complacent in the second half of 360, which led to a large momentum loss, and then TVTVTV just outright killed them.
PS4 era was my best console generation I ever lived by the simple fact I was already a young adult. I bought my console and all my games with my own money and just because of that I was able to play more games than I could back on the PS3 era or even PS2. My old PS4 Slim is still there, broken because and update killed it. 😂
After watching this video and considering how the 6th generation ended I think what the Microsoft achieved with the Xbox 360 was unbelievable. And/or the ps2 to ps3 fumble was biblical

I’m a fan of PlayStation but I can agree that Sony tried a lot harder with the PS4 than the PS5 because the PS4 had customisable wallpapers and my PS4 came bundled with a camera and 2 controller chargers for less the price of a PS5 alongside Lego Star Wars and Star Wars the force awakens blue Ray 💙
They did not just sell off their Manhattan HQ and fire a bunch of people to save Sony after deciding to go all in on the PS. They closed and sold off a fair chunk of their Music movie-making sectors. All of their PC studios Inc, SOE were closed and sold off in bits. A few of their PS studios even had to be sacrificed. The hardware and mobile sector did see cuts too after Mobile sales had gone down 90% since 2007. Betting everything on PS4. Tho... To be fair, the Xbox One E3 show helped a fair bit too, and should be credited
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the Dualshock 4 like a lot of people are. It was nice that it was re-chargable but man did that battery drain fast. And a nitpick of mine is the controller being too light for my liking. I do remember the shift to PlayStation at the time. Many people I knew who were Xbox 360 players shifted to the PS4 at the time.
PS4 pro was one of my favorite consoles and I've been playing consoles since the Atari 2600. They just had so many good exclusive games, and the games actually looked decent and ran at good frame rates (unlike the ps5). 4:39 lol, no it wasn't a good pc in a box, both the xbox and ps4 had garbage hardware, the pro models took them to where they should have been at launch, and no the cpu WASN'T better than the xbox, wtf you smoking? 17:43 - wtf man, the pro was a HUGE leap in performance, thumbs down on this video due to all this bs you're spouting.

Back in the day I only played on Nintendo, so I had a Wii U for much of that generation. Didn't pick up a PS4 until 2018.
I honestly hope that you will make a 'I bought every Nintendo 3DS...' video. Can you please do that?
Your arms are insane 👍👍
10:52 - Best part
I can update the base storage to 8tb plus external with 8tb… guess which model can’t do that????
Who are you, and what have you done to Austin? This was professional made.
The PS4 was doing so well that Sony ditched the Vita, unfairly. The Vita could have done a 180 the same way the 3DS did.
PS4 era was my best console generation I ever lived by the simple fact I was already a young adult. I bought my console and all my games with my own money and just because of that I was able to play more games than I could back on the PS3 era or even PS2.
My old PS4 Slim is still there, broken because and update killed it. 😂
Was the eventual death of sega's console division starting from the sony ps1 299 roast not a press conference?
Did your Microsoft and Xbox sponsorship just end Austin?
I still play my Vita every week also!!!
All 3 of em..
remember the banana controller playstation had as a concept once?
After watching this video and considering how the 6th generation ended I think what the Microsoft achieved with the Xbox 360 was unbelievable. And/or the ps2 to ps3 fumble was biblical
For me personally a older retro gamer
I will say xbone and series x was cool it was backwards comp
And I was at a time in my life ps321 I was still playing psp and vita has well ....I have alot of catching up to do
But im looking forward to ps6 esp if it plays ps654 games
The PS4 didn’t save PlayStation it’s the third party games that saved PlayStation without games consoles are dead
nice plug for "Bigtime" lol
I’m a fan of PlayStation but I can agree that Sony tried a lot harder with the PS4 than the PS5 because the PS4 had customisable wallpapers and my PS4 came bundled with a camera and 2 controller chargers for less the price of a PS5 alongside Lego Star Wars and Star Wars the force awakens blue Ray 💙
If we could give Sony a reminder of these prices for this new CRAZY price for the PS5 Pro.
Tho... To be fair, the Xbox One E3 show helped a fair bit too, and should be credited
and now we have ps5 pro and everyone doing apple things removing things that should come with things LOL
Hey Austin I really enjoyed this video is very informative.
Good job on your research bro.
Hearing that Halo plasma pistol sound effect at 1:29 was funny. Since Halo is a Microsoft product (for now) lol
Still rocking my PS4 Slim, thinking about upgrading to PS5 Pro (if possible)
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the Dualshock 4 like a lot of people are. It was nice that it was re-chargable but man did that battery drain fast. And a nitpick of mine is the controller being too light for my liking.
I do remember the shift to PlayStation at the time. Many people I knew who were Xbox 360 players shifted to the PS4 at the time.
Anyone here before the name was changed from ‘I BOUGHT EVERY PS4’
Not really. They started a paywall for online where as ps3 didn’t and no backwards compatibility. At least it had lots of good exclusives and cheap
switch is on the way to becoming the number one selling console of all time
Drink some damn water Austin, if your right arm brushes against a piece of paper you’re gonna end up bleeding out
20:37 I thought Xbox was the one who started with a familiar hardware concept. I mean... That's the promise since OG Xbox
I decided to try Matt's favourite tipple Fireball, wish me luck
Xbox one x scorpio actually had little bit more success as it came out almost on same time as fortnite that fortnite on xbox one x looked super good. Playstation for pro fan was horrendous it was obnoxiously loud
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣 16:51 so TRUE 😂😂😂
you did not buy all the PS4s you're missing the special editions
I feel like I've seen this video before love it tho very informative
Now we know why the ps4 sales’ number keeps getting higher after all these years 😂
You forgot about Playstation VR It Brang that onto the board
Who knew 'playing it safe' could level up the gaming industry?
The PS4 was a very safe release. I prefer the PS3 particularly the launch version. It can do so much. In my heart though I'm a Playstation guy for life.
The dualshock 4 was the first good controller Sony made.
Microsoft really fumbled the bag
