He is such a great lyricist. If he hadn’t gone through what he did he wouldn’t be the same artist today, it made him who he is and sometimes we have to go through crap in our lives to get to a better place. I won tickets in 2010 to see him and JayZ at Yankee stadium and OMG what an amazing show it was
Please react to more Eminem! Eminem grew up with a kid & they wanted to be rappers. He called himself Proof & Marshall took the name Em. This was like the only thing Em had besides Kim who was always pulling him away from rap. BEST friends. He was shot 3 times over an argument at a pool game. Oh Lord James. Em was broken but it also fueled him more. I highly recommend catching his story. Mad respect for Em. Mad respect. His bars have bars. You have to read them to get the double entendres, the way he flows the words into the beat. Eminem doesn't put a single word in that doesn't have meaning.
Those lyrics are as REAL as it gets! Really admire his openness and rawness in this one. I think he helped and healed a lot of people who could relate to similar experiences growing up. Brilliant!
If you are into poetry then Eminem is one of the greatest lyricists to rap you definitely should check out more. A lot of comments here suggest you do Headlights next but I think you should do Eminem's MMLP first. I promise you you won't regret it.
This song hits me hard. Been there. Art saved me. It still saves me. The only other song that hits me this hard is Disturbed’s Down With the Sickness. My son played it for me and was shocked when I burst into tears at the lyrics. It walks you through the creation, through horrible abuse, of a monster. Song starts out as an innocent child who knows what he’s becoming as she keeps hurting him. Gut wrenching.
There are many god-like rappers. Em is still on another level. You will not regret listening to more of him, be it reaction or privately. His music has helped me go through the darkest times in my life, I genuinely don't know if I still would be here if not for him.
I love how so many of Em's songs are autobiographical🔥🐐 Perhaps the greatest lyrical genius alive - he's a walking dictionary & thesaurus - rhyming schemes, double/triple entendres! Em's a good man considering how shitty his childhood was.....he even adopted his younger brother Nathan to get him away from their abusive mother. Poured cleaning products in his food to make him sick to get pills for herself! When he got famous, she tried to sue him for millions for singing about her - didn't win thankfully. And she recorded a diss track about him. How sad is that? He also adopted Kim's sister's daughter due to the sister overdosing. I believe whilst he & his mother still aren't close that he has forgiven her. Yet again reinforcing his GOAT status!!!🐐 Please do 'Not Afraid', 'Stan', 'Darkness' & 'RapGod' - MASTERPIECES!....And that's to start with! GENUIS!
I hate how people think that just because someone is back they automatically listen to rap...get to actually know the person, ask questions, share music with each other..you'll be surprised what you will find out when your making these discoveries.
Eminem back then was a super mega hit maker for many years, he's true and raw, that's why he has the biggest, strongest and eternal fan base worldwide. Portugal here for the Goat Eminem always since day one and forever. Thanks for reacting. Salutes. This man been trough so many things in his life that 90 per cent of people would go crazy or die.... lot of respect for this lyrical genius.
also I don't think he means hes literally killing his mom...in the second verse hes talking about his skeletons in his closet...so I think hes "killing" his demons and burying his past so he can focus on the future and start a new life...so I think when hes saying sorry mama im cleaning out my closet, he's telling her that he is never going to live in the past anymore and ignore those bruises (metaphorically) he got when he was young..he's starting new. at least thats what I got from the song.
Hey JB, Good to see you, sending Good Vibes...Eminem is the Master of Rap...Brilliant lyricist, perfect vocals, Spits Bars like Fire...Amazing performer...Thanx JB, Blesings
This track was on " The Eminem Show" album. This is the track that got me started listening to Em. His life is tragic, but it contributes to his raw descriptive lyrics in his music. He has been in and out of rehab for drugs, and all of it comes out on his songs. Many have dark subjects such as serial killers and spousal abuse. He paints clear pictures of his struggles like no other artist.
Yeah i didnt really get into eminem until like 2016 lol. Never was a big fan of rap either. But now those old eminem albums I hold in high regard. He was really good.
"Rap God", "Godzilla" "Killshot" "White America" Then some fun ones - "Slim Shady", "Lose Yourself". Here's why 👇 This 50 year old white Southern Girl knows every track of his. I knew the minute I hear "Slim Shady" it was on so I followed him. James I've watched his life story and this is true. His Dad, his Mom, Kim, Hailey... Em tells all. As far as BARS - no one can touch him. Listen to "Rap God" it's tongue in check about his head being uploaded with words. "Godzilla" the fastest rap with the most words. Blow your MIND!!!!! "Kill Shot" diss track. He destroys Machine Gun Kelly for dissing him on a track. You DONT use Hailey Jade's name and not expect to be destroyed. "White America" super important song. He called out police violence years before. You'd think he write it in 2020.
JB you are such a sweet man with a sweet heart. This song is gut wrenchingly hard to hear but beautiful too. I have always thought EMINEM was a genius and have heard nothing by him that changes that. 100 years ago he would have either been a published poet of renown or been found starved to death in an attic with his unpublished genius found beside him and would posthumously have been famous. It was ever thus with poets and artists. You are doing fantastic James; It's been my pleasure watching you grow. Peace, love and music guy, all the way.xx
Nothing more can be said as a lot of others have already said it. I love how you hear people say “I never got into Em because he talked about killing his mom and stuff, but if you actually listen to the words he is saying, and not go into already with that thought, you will get a better understanding of him. First, he was super young then, and he had also made a follow up to this and apologized to his mom, but once he made it, his mom tried to sue him for $10 million, and also, if you listen to the end of this track, you will get him say that, when his uncle died, his mom told him that she wished it was him instead. So, a lot of back story to understand, but, bottom line, he is an amazing story teller (like others have said) and his lyrical ability is 2nd to none. Welcome to your Eminem journey. If you pick the right songs first, you will enjoy this ride you are getting ready to go on Ps.. these are the best reactions that I watch and love. The ones who didn’t know Em back in the day and just now going back through his content. You will be amazed, and for us that watch, it’s pretty to sweet to watch as when that light finally goes off in your head, it’s a sweet thing to watch. Go in with a open mind, and you will be a fan pretty soon
Eminem is without a doubt the best lyricist ever! Bold statement... But it's the truth. This song is deep and it's hard to hear, but it paints a picture. He has grown and evolved through his music and I think you'll appreciate so many more tracks. Definitely check out some other songs. I recommend Headlights, Spacebound and Beautiful (ft Elton John) 👌 X
Never to late to listen to him bro! He used his pen & paper to deal with his life. If he didnt, who knows what fkd up sht he would have done! Fun Em: The Real slim shady Without me Just Lose it Story telling: When im gone Mockingbird Dejavu Legacy Motivational: Till i collapse Lose yourself Some of his most known songs you def should Check out! Nice reaction bro, stay healthy
Hey man, Em is really popular over here in India. But speaking of India, I'm curious about your shirt. What's up with that? What's the story behind it? Edit - in case anyone's confused about this comment, the symbol on his shirt is an 'Om' symbol. It's really common here in India but I don't know how common it is in the West so I'm just a little curious about the story behind his shirt. Please enlighten me.
I have a question about when the video shows a 7 year old EM being dragged by his arm by his mom. I see everyone face when it happens and they have a look of horror. Don’t most parents do that to their kids?? I’ve never really thought about it until I seen peoples reaction to that part. I’ve already raised my two daughters and their in their twenties and I never did anything remotely like that but they were good kids and listened. Actually I can’t imagine do anything like that if they weren’t good kids. But my point is that I was horrible kid and caused lots and lots of trouble and I figured I deserved it. So is it normal or not normal??
Jblethal, more then 3 months have passed since your last video-reaction of a Pavarotti's song. In this link you can find another masterpiece from him 👌🔝❤️❤️❤️ua-cam.com/video/pR2W37WFUnE/v-deo.html
I'm a 66 year female English teacher. I often use Eminem songs to illustrate certain poetic techniques. Brilliant lyricist.
That is so awesome. I never appreciated his lyrics until recently (getting older) . His newer work is even better and more complex.
His rhyming style reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe.
He is the best story teller & the greatest lyricist ever
I could not possibly agree more.
Great reaction. You should react to “Headlights” by Eminem. He makes peace with his mom.
He is such a great lyricist. If he hadn’t gone through what he did he wouldn’t be the same artist today, it made him who he is and sometimes we have to go through crap in our lives to get to a better place. I won tickets in 2010 to see him and JayZ at Yankee stadium and OMG what an amazing show it was
You reacted exactly as you should. This song is so raw, so emotional. It gets me every time. He is a great rapper and story teller.
Please react to more Eminem!

Gotta do When I’m Gone, mockingbird, Toy Soliders, Headlights, Stan, Darkness, etc if you want more storytelling/emotional Eminem.
Bad guy too right after stan
That'll get you in the feels.

I think he meant that he was burying the painful memories of his childhood, and his mom was part of those memories.
exactly this
I remember back on 2002, somebody ask him about it and he answer: " maybe it's just my Mom
"
Its never too late to listen to him. Let's give him his roses why he is here 🥰
Eminem when I'm gone and Not afraid are my favorite. Mockingbird also gives more insight into his kids
Another awesome reaction!

No, you we're right the first time every one goes through it. "Every man faces a battle ye know nothing of." One way or another...sooner or later...
You definitely react to Headlight next!! Headlight is part 2 to Cleaning out my closet.
My goodness I’m all for poetry I constantly read it all the time

Hey JB, Good to see you, sending Good Vibes...Eminem is the Master of Rap...Brilliant lyricist, perfect vocals, Spits Bars like Fire...Amazing performer...Thanx JB, Blesings
Mockingbird is another good story telling song. Leaving Heaven is a great track aimed at his dad
Thank you for being so real

He has lyrically buried his mom in other songs, "Headlights" is a great song IMO where he apologizes to her also
This is heartbreaking. I’ve never listened to Eminem either and I see what I’ve been missing too.
Stan is a story song also. It features Dido, a singer from Scotland.
Keep doing yo thing Bro. Thanks for the EM
Enjoy your Eminem journey. He's a lyrical genius.

What genres of music did you listen to growing up?
Hey Eminem is the greatest lyricist ever. Please check out Voiceplay an acapella group, love your reactions ♥
React to Eminem 'Ti'll I Collapse'
He is burying his past..hence..cleaning out the closet.
Pain, pain, hurt and more hurt so stinking sad. I hate evil so much😭😭😭😭😭
Dope personality, Great Content, would love to see your reaction to one of my music videos
I feel you! Parents do better! 🙏❤️
I have a question about when the video shows a 7 year old EM being dragged by his arm by his mom. I see everyone face when it happens and they have a look of horror. Do Eminem mockingbird
Well, his old stuff is good. Not sure I can say the same with all the new stuff. New stuff is no different than all other rap today. My opinion...
He was burying his mom lyrically, exposing how she was a terrible and neglectful mother.
You have the 1st amendment there but you self-censore and beep-beep the words. I don't get it.
Back then? Lol he still will rip you a new one. :)
