A little fun story: This song came out in 2002, before the movie 8 Mile, and it was a huge hit. The movie producer (or whoever) told Em that they were going to use this song as a soundtrack because he could not make a bigger hit song, but Eminem was like "hold my beer" and he went and wrote Lose Yourself.

Source???? The Eminem Show was done. Em then moved onto helping produce Cheers and GRODT and was always intended to write original music for a soundtrack.
The original song intended to be the official song was 8 mile.....as in the SONG 8 mile...from the 8 mile soundtrack......but Em was dissatisfied and thought he could do better so wrote Lose Yourself between takes.
I've never at any point heard anyone ever claim COMC had any involvement with 8 mile.

He was angry because he had a little brother that also suffered abuse and was put into the foster care system, he does mention him in at least one of his songs. He doesn't perform Cleaning Out My Closet anymore, I have seen articles that say they have somewhat mended their relationship. Child abuse can continue through generations, he didn't do that, he made beauty with pain. He is an artist of the lifetime.

He brought up Munchausen Syndrome. A terrible disorder for the people around the person who has it, especially if it's the form Munchausen By-Proxy, which I believe he is describing. I bought my first Eminem album when I was 11 with my Xmas money and related and adored it so much. The humour, the honesty and the emotions.
This track hit home for me and I honestly don’t share the same reaction as everyone else. It used to shock me that this song shocks people. But now I’m nearly 30 I realise that not everyone has had a difficult upbringing and experienced childhood trauma. The thing is, you’re imaging saying those things about your parents who are probably nice and caring people. But having a parent who abuses you is not the same. In that situation you are an innocent child who deserves better. Eminem knows that and has given better when he has become a parent himself. This isn’t a blanket hate against parents, it’s an honest portrayal of thoughts and feelings looking back on a broken childhood.

On his first (signed) album, he says, "99% of my life I was lied to. I just found out my mom does more dope than I do. I told her I'd grow up to be a famous rapper, make a record about doing drugs and name it after her."
His mom sues him for $10million for that line.. and only ends up winning $1,377 or something like that from the suit.
2nd (signed) album, he says, "My f*****g b***h mom tried to sue me for 10 million. She must want a dollar for every pill I've been stealing".
Third album, he says, "I just settled all my lawsuits; FUCK YOU DEBBIE!"
Growing up, his mom would tell him that he was sick with munchausen syndrome, and would put prescription drugs in his food, as well as other toxic stuff. If you read up about it, it was a hard upbringing.

The part where she’s putting stuff in his food is something he talks about in a couple of his songs. His mom probably suffered from Münchausen syndrome by proxy. It’s a psychological condition where the parent wants to take care of their kids so they poison them to purposefully make them sick. Gypsy Rose is one of the best known cases, she has a Netflix special if you’re interested in seeing some crazy shit.

The years start flying after that. Seems like one day you’re 25 the next thing you know you’re 50. I may be 52 But in my mind I still feel like I’m 25. Also I don’t expect these guys to know who Eminem is or was just like they shouldn’t also know a whole lot about Ice Cube, 2Pac, or biggie unless the parents were bumping that stuff when they were kids. I would’ve expected him to be listening to stuff from artists that are more closer to their own age but just like now they start experiencing and checking out stuff from different areas my music taste go way back to the 50s and of course I’ve heard stuff much older than that but not a whole lot. Originally, a rap song was made of the classic 16 bars. The bar phase is almost like a line. Bar is like the segment or sentence. When people say, now that was a bar it was meant a good bar or line. But it became accepted to mean that bar had a scheme , wordplay or metaphor or entandre that stood out. Rap evolved to 32, 46, 64 bars etc as rappers started saying more or faster. There's many rappers that reference it. Giving a cool 16." I was gonna stop at 16, that was 32. This is 34 bars were only a 3rd the way through" Em-Mariah diss. It refers to lyrical lines in the rap

I’m so glad you brought up about who grows up listening to what and who’s heard what. Man I’m telling you all , I’m a 49 year old white guy from upstate NY, I grew up listening to all types of music. For most of my pre teen years I lived in a neighborhood where me and my brother were the only white kids on the block and that’s no exaggeration. I was born in 73 so this was in the early to mid 80’s when rap was first getting big, where I lived, kids were going to the neighborhood boys club and battling, break dancing. The days of L.L , The Beastie Boys, I personally couldn’t break dance, but sure tried. Meanwhile my father was rockin out Michael Jackson, Shaka Kahn, Lionel Richie. So I was exposed to alot of different music and people that today, the life I live , the people I know wouldn’t believe me. At this point I’ve listened to so much different music that there honestly isn’t much music or groups, bands that I haven’t at least heard, but that’s after almost 50 years of life and now my son is 24 and I get to hear everything he has come across and of course he loves all my favorite music, Rap, blues, southern rock, most any music that moves you or evokes emotion! To me music is true, real deal magic!! The only thing on the planet that can transport you to a specific place and time in your life and remind you how you felt at that time, crazy!! Most people who look at me today wouldn’t have a clue what I have or haven’t heard and vibed to!! I can completely understand where you all are coming from. Look at my profile picture and tell me the mental picture you get? It isn’t what you think, that’s 100% ! Thanks again guys! Really enjoy your reactions and the music you haven’t heard. I can only hope to suggest some more great music maybe you haven’t heard and can enjoy as I have. So many great memories being at concerts, blasting music in my car, remembering my father play his first cd when cd technology first came out!! That cd was Michael Jackson, and I’m not lying when I say my father could move just like Michael and I know you’ve heard this before but I’m not kidding and anyone who knew him would tell you the same. Hey thanks again guys for bringing back some great memories for me. Take care.

Ok, so first I heard about the reactions to Bohemian Rhapsody, which in my opinion was fine. You said it was s little weird but that you really liked it (I feel the same way).
It was made almost 50 years ago. So many people think the music of their time is "real" music, and if you don't know it or feel the same way about it, it's blasphemy... 🙄 I'm sure you guys are very sorry you weren't born at the time, just don't let it happen again!
Now I hear people are accusing you of lying about not knowing certain songs?
I've been binge watching your videos for hours and you never have a problem disclosing when you know a song or when you know the song but haven't seen the video.
Don't listen to the crazy people. Just keep doing what you guys do so well.

You guys are doing just fine. Just be you. There will always be those that are judgemental. Love your reactions.❤

The syndrome he was talking about in the song was “Munchausen's syndrome” which is a psychological disorder where someone pretends to be ill or deliberately produces symptoms of illness in themselves. Their main intention is to assume the "sick role" so that people care for them and they are the center of attention.

People have been trying to cancel him from the very first song, in their minds it's for a good reason but it'll never happen 😂. I'm 38 & was 15 when his first dong dropped so depending on age I have no doubts when people say they haven't heard any of his songs.

I subscribed to your channel last night and I swear to God you guys might be my 4 (sometimes 5) favorite people on the whole fucking Internet as of right now. Shit is hilarious. Serious sidenote though. The fact that you guys haven’t done a reaction video to Eminem‘s actual song “Marshall Mathers” is a crying shame. It’s an unbelievably good song, and his flow on it is absolutely ridiculous. Above and beyond that, some of the most singularly offensive lines this man has ever recorded are on this song. Take care guys. Great work.
