It is fun to watch you make comments about singers that those of us that already know it know "haha she has no idea what is coming".... Especially in a song like this that keeps ELEVATING and changing...
Many people will recommend the live version from Conan, but for me, if you really want to hear the greatest version of this song, check out the one with Myles Kennedy doing the harmony. It's stunning.
Hi Melissa, I loved the way you expressed yourself in reaction to this amazing cover of a classic song from the '60's. The thing which always amazes me when I hear David Draiman sing anything, is that he never seems to strain his incredible voice. His range is outstanding and his delivery seems effortless. I hear he HATES using 'Auto-Tune' (as others have said) which is so so impressive. I'd like to recommend Disturbed's cover of the old Genesis track 'Land Of Confusion' it's a brilliant video and once again, David's voice is outstanding. If you check it out, let us know what you think. Cheers! 🙋♂
Oh that’s sounds amazing! I’ll check it out. Yeah he really does have a great command of what he’s doing. Switching from clean vocals to fry is so impressive when done with such ease 😊💪
If anyone tells you this song isn’t representative of Disturbed because there’s no heavy guitar and drums, they’re obviously correct. HOWEVER, if anyone tries to tell you it’s not representative of David’s voice, they are absolutely and severely mistaken. What caught your attention at 10:15 to 10:20 is THE David Draiman sound. I would recommend 10,000 Fists or Stricken next, partially because of the range and because they’re “classic“ Disturbed songs, old and very well loved by fans so no one will complain about what’s “representative” of their sound.
No there is no auto tune David D. In interviews says he hates that stuff & it would be best to watch his live on Conan Obrien version it is so much better Paul Simon actually called him personally told him it was the best cover of the song he ever heard & actually promoted it on his social media. Also, David D. Is classically trained.
To get the soft, whisper effect in the beginning, David had to sing with the mic right up to his mouth and if you listen carefully, you can hear his breath control and even the spit moving around in his mouth. If auto-tune was used, none of those extra noises would have been heard.
That is not auto-tune. David loses his mind when anyone uses auto-tune. If you listen to this live on Conan you will hear one spot where the show used auto-tune and David was pissed about it. He is classically trained as a cantor, his voice can do that on its own.
Sorry budola! It’s is auto tuned. You can hear it kicking in. There’s absolutely no shame in using it. It doesn’t say his intonation isn’t good enough it just says that in this track the microscopic way with which we listen to the lead probably wouldn’t forgive tiny fluctuations in pitch. I have seen the live and he does a great job 😊👍
I know I haven't the ability to discern Auto tune, however there are other vocal analysts I respect e.g. the charismatic voice and she doesn't identify any auto tune.
@@julianginniver5785 the charismatic voice is great but she’s a performer like anyone else. Siding with her audience on something that’s not true I’m sure makes sense to her. Hold on to your hat!… Disturbed is nothing like ‘The Sound Of Silence’David(singer), used to be a Cantor for much of his youth and has an awesome range.
To answer your question as to should he - they, have done the song. Absolutely.. An amazing cover and a song that speaks to today maybe more than it did then.
Just because lots of unqualified people say a thing doesn’t make it so dear. Lots of obnoxious people with no experience say the earths flat and I disagree with those bumpkins too 💋😊
You may have been led to think (because of so many songs in the last forty years done that way) that trilling and running on notes in a song conveys passion or emotion; maybe now you see that the opposite is actually true - holding and sustaining a note - with a clear, trained and unaltered voice conveys so, so much more honesty and sincerity of emotion it raises the bar to another level altogether. You got and felt the message in the words, didn't you?
David neither uses nor needs autotune. He has a natural range of B♭1-G♯5 and, as was said in another comment, all of the resonances and vibrato are him, and him alone.
Pitch correction or not, this statement is just straight up incorrect. Any singer who is recorded is no longer ‘just them’. Mics, rooms, EQ, plug-ins. No one’s voice if recorded is just them. But pop off sis
@@SoulSingerDiscovers Ok, you go ahead and mince words. You know exactly what I mean, though. By the time you're mixed and mastered you don't sound exactly like you did in the booth, either but that doesn't mean you had pitch correction applied. You heard auto-tune where there's no auto-tune. My objection to autotune is that being able to maintain intonation is a core musical skill. Also it makes harmonies sound like angel farts frozen in space crystals.
Another reactor said this song has 400 million views! The singer, David, did not want the Auto tune, the producers put it in anyway.Checkout the version recorded live in studio on The Conan O'Brien show (on You Tube).
Ah yes! When in doubt, say a bunch of bland bullshit or post lyrics you didn’t write to avoid admitting you messed up your judgement. Jog on now you silly sausage. Or post a haiku 😂
You David a great disservice by accusing him of auto- tuning. He is a classically trained singer who prides himself in every sound he makes being his voice alone. What you hear is an amazing vocalist with incredible control.
There’s no accusation here Fi because pitch correction isn’t something to be upset about loads of acts over the past twenty years use it. It doesn’t mean someone lacks talent. The fact that David had to publicly say he wouldn’t use it is more representative of Joe Public not understanding what it is, so willing to skate him for it, than it is of it actually being a bad thing to use. Talented singers use it regularly.
though I haven't finished watching your reaction - David D is super talented and no auto-tune. He has an incredible range and control. If you ever saw him live you would see his amazing talent.
It’s almost like I’m listening to him with no prior knowledge?? Why don’t you go back to watching reactors who are pretending to you they haven’t seen it so you can bark like a good little seal for another fish as they tell you what you want to hear? 😂😂😂
I'm a dedicated Slayer fan but I appreciate classic stuff like Simon and Garfunkel. This is the best version of "The Sound of Silence" that I ever heard and it is also the only Disturbed song I like

No disappointment here, he is absolutely pitch corrected in this track but tbh pitch correction is pretty standard for a lot of projects this size. Still an amazing singer!
I don't know why fans insist there is no auto-tune or pitch correction when there obviously is. David is good enough that there is no need in it but they do it anyway.
There IS pitch correction, but not Auto-Tune. The British guitarist dude put it thru wave form analysis and showed it. But pitch correction is WAY different than letting a computer go buck wild and change whatever it wants. (For the commenters, not you. I know you know the dif.)

I also would recommend you watch the video for The Light. Great song, great story great talent. No auto-tune.
Well I’m pretty sure it is so I’ve sent it over to a discord of producers so we can put it to bed. Not that I think it matter, he’s a great vocalist 😊💪
David Draiman was classically trained as a cantor that sings liturgical music and leads prayer in a synagogue, so taking his classical vocal training mixing it with his aggressive rock style of singing truely one of a kind
Will do my dude 😊👍
Simon of Simon and Garfunkel LOVED it…The original…He embraced it gladly…Timely
Brilliant choice, his voice is amazing.
No there is no auto tune David D. In interviews says he hates that stuff & it would be best to watch his live on Conan Obrien version it is so much better
Paul Simon actually called him personally told him it was the best cover of the song he ever heard & actually promoted it on his social media.
Definitely listen to the live version on Conan, when he sings it with flu symptoms and a temperature of 102, he totally smashes it out of the park! ❤
Wings of Pegasus did an analysis of the studio and Conan performance and there is pitch correction and maybe some auto tune applied.
@@julianginniver5785 the charismatic voice is great but she’s a performer like anyone else. Siding with her audience on something that’s not true I’m sure makes sense to her. Personally, if saying things I don’t mean, and being agreeable is the only way to have a large following. I’m quite happy with a small following where I pander to no one. Again, it’s not a judgement, he’s a great vocalist 😊
@@SoulSingerDiscovers I think both you and the people in the comments here are a bit hung up on the idea of autotune vs pitch correction.
I lost track of how many people told you that he DOES NOT USE AUTOTONE and you still can't get it through your head.
Just because lots of unqualified people say a thing doesn’t make it so dear. Lots of obnoxious people with no experience say the earths flat and I disagree with those bumpkins too 💋😊
I've never heard the term edge lord until today. Thanks for increasing my vocabulary
Glad I could help 😂
David does not need auto tune!
Your right, but he still uses it, or at least his producer does
Why you don't listen to the live version of this song? Than you'll see, there's no Autotune needed.
Don't straw-man it, just accept the error and move on.
@@terraphon go and read the pinned comment and click the link. The error is embarrassingly yours. Let me guess you read an interview where David talked about how he hates it. You believed a celebrity was speaking facts and now youre butt hurt because you don’t understand what it actually means. What an absolute clown. I bet your Facebook is filled with sensational articles you cite to people in real arguments. 😂
Pretty much the best re-presentation/cover of a song ever by Draiman and the best reaction/analysis of his vocals on YT by Ms. Kelly.
Cheers Darlin'
Thank you!! He’s a wonderful vocalist. It was a good day at the office 😊💜
Disturbed did this live on Conan Obrien. Lead singer had 102 degree fever & nailed it! If you want to check it out.
Will do :)
There is No AUTO-TUNE ever in his Songs take a listen to the Live Version
He did not and does not use Auto-Tune!
My objection to autotune is that being able to maintain intonation is a core musical skill. Also it makes harmonies sound like angel farts frozen in space crystals.
BEST. COMMENT. EVER. 😂

Another reactor said this song has 400 million views! The singer, David, did not want the Auto tune, the producers put it in anyway.Checkout the version recorded live in studio on The Conan O'Brien show (on You Tube).
Love this song awesome song I love disturbed an I love this man's voice awesome singer
He is a great vocalist
I've seen them twice in the concert and David and the band absolutely amazing. No auto-tune there he hates Auto-Tune
NOT AUTOTUNE!!!!! He’s all natural!
The best way to put it is David took Simon and Garfuncles song and gave it a powerful sound. Also David is a classically trained singer.
Best version of that song ever……Do Down with the Sickness next…..Excellent reaction 👍
Thanks my dude 😊
This man is a master he does NOT use auto tuning.
You are not qualified to judge this amazing performance.
Eeerrrmmmm…. I don’t know how to tell you this Helen but David has a BA in Law and I have a Masters in Music. I am the definition of more qualified 😂😂
@SoulSingerDiscovers People talking without speaking .
People listening without hearing.
Sometimes the sound of your own voice can mislead you.
Ah yes! When in doubt, say a bunch of bland bullshit or post lyrics you didn’t write to avoid admitting you messed up your judgement. Jog on now you silly sausage. Or post a haiku 😂
This is the best! Hair standing up! Play this at my funeral! All day!
Thank you for watching my dude 🥰
Oh, and by the way - David does NOT use autotune. Check out his performance on Conan (an American talkshow dude)... 🤣
though I haven't finished watching your reaction - David D is super talented and no auto-tune. He has an incredible range and control. If you ever saw him live you would see his amazing talent.
Auto tune/pitch correction is not an accusation of being talentless
@@SoulSingerDiscovers true, and I should have elaborated by saying David D hates it. I was tired and cranky :) btw, love your accent. Awesome
Disturbed- down with the sickness, was probably they're breakout song. One of my favorites is "violence fetish" or "believe".
No auto tune in this song at all
Lmao on the country comments 😂😂
It’s almost like I’m listening to him with no prior knowledge?? Why don’t you go back to watching reactors who are pretending to you they haven’t seen it so you can bark like a good little seal for another fish as they tell you what you want to hear? 😂😂😂
David Drayman doesn’t use auto-tune, hates it, and was Classically trained as a Cantor.
I'm a dedicated Slayer fan but I appreciate classic stuff like Simon and Garfunkel. This is the best version of "The Sound of Silence" that I ever heard and it is also the only Disturbed song I like
I love the original! This is a nice reimagine 😊
I’m not sure a classically trained cantor would need to use auto tune. He has an amazing range in his voice and needs no help to sound good
So classically trained or not, humans aren’t capable of completely perfect intonation. A little pitch correction is no big deal. He’s still some singer 👍
ITS NOT AUTO TUNNED ..... IT`S ALSO IN live performance ....... exactly like that
YES IT IS! Also WHY ARE WE USING CAP LOCK? CALM DOWN QUEEN!
No auto tune...not a chance. David would never do it. Check out a live version. It's the same.
I really enjoy your reactions and the way you bring your personality and insights into it! :)
Hard to pick just one more Disturbed song to react to, they have so many good ones. I'd recommend maybe "Stricken" next.
Thank you Christine! I appreciate that. I’ll check out Stricken 😊👍
Knew you were Scottish! I have a friend in the Shetland Islands. David Draiman was trained as a Jewish Cantor. NO! No autotune!!! A little post work but no autotune! He GLARED on camera at the sound guy on Conan for using it! What happened after..... He chose to extend the consonants for effect - the "r" and "n"..... "Down With The Sickness"
That’s interesting, what was the little post work that was done?
This is great, however, the version on the Conon show, featuring the group Disturbed will blow your mind.
Sorry to disappoint…David doesn’t use auto tune. You need to check his live performance on Conan. He is fantastic live and his live performances are awesome! Great singer. His band Disturbed is Heavy Metal so this is a softer side of this band.
No disappointment here, he is absolutely pitch corrected in this track but tbh pitch correction is pretty standard for a lot of projects this size. Still an amazing singer!
No auto tuned. Pure voice!!
Thank you! Do you have a link to that vid we can post? Folks on here have taken one passing comment so personally as an attack 🙄 as a direct result of the fanbase behaviour I won’t be doing any Disturbed again. A link I could pin would put it to bed nicely 👍😊
@@SoulSingerDiscovers ua-cam.com/video/v_h9-Cpn_uY/v-deo.html&feature=share8
Sure. There it is. He shows the auto tune on the Conan performance, the absence of it (but pitch correction) in the studio version, and how it sounds live with no correction, and how the notes will hardly ever fall right on the line.
And for what it's worth... I hope you actually DO end up doing some further Disturbed. I think you'd get a kick out of Down With The Sickness. Thanks for putting the time Into making videos in the first place! :-)
@@winstonwright3613 thanks my dude! 💪😊
"Not representative" basically just means "the artist can do more than one thing" anyway.
He sing it live , sound so amazing 👏
He does a live version of this song, you "should" listen to it as well
I've seen Disturbed a few times over the decades and that's David's voice. He doesn't use auto tune. I believe he's a trained cantor and he's also classically trained as well. The band and especially David are immensely talented.
Btw you're an incredible soul singer!
Would’ve been lovely to have seen him live. Thank you so much for watching Gwen! :)
A contraitian weegie... Say it ain't so😂
I don’t appreciate the tone of your text Chris 😂
You are just loads of fun! I love you 💚This is my favorite band and you NAILED DOWN how I feel tooooo💕
Thank you Sandi!! Love ya loads! So touched you’re enjoying the vids 😊🌸
I'm sure so many have told you, that if you have doubts, you can check out his live performance of this on "Conan" show. (American late night talk show)
You should definitely check out his live performance of this on the Conan show.
I love your singing, I can’t understand when you talk sad😢sad😢
There is a Live Version.
Draiman has excellent control of his voice, and I can't hear any autotune at the beginning of this recording. Let allone the fact that he is known for absolutely opposing autotune. Maybe you want to listen to his live performance at the Conan O'Brian Show. He was sick there but still had a stunning control.
I respect your oppositional defiance. I've got a big dose of that too.
I don’t know why, I just do but I’m glad people share that 😊
Watch the live performance he does on the Conan O'Brien there's no auto tune in sight 😉
