What do you think about Blake’s bike setup for the Mega?
A _"nuke-proof"_ monster indeed! 👌🏻🥇
I would've added a chain bash guard ! Insanely necessary on this track imo, also insane respect goes to Blake for doing this on a hardtail, a mad man, I did Mountain of Hell on my downhill bike in June and even with 200mm travel front and rear, it was an absolute nightmare to stay on the bike and sometimes felt like a rodeo, and let's not talk about arm pump and having permaclaw. Cheers guys and congrats to Blake !
That Blake is a theif
Is that with 180mm travel fork ????
Less volume spacers in the lyrik, and little more pressure imo, what with huge neg spring in them, to reduce arm pump.
7:32 Doddy stood up and made blake’s bke look like a kid’s bike
lol the ground he's standing on is a few inches higher than where the wheels are sitting.
@@dummkompf The illusion still stand...as Doddy
i was not expecting this to be true
Fun fact: Frank Schneider won the 2012 Megavlange win a singlespeed Nicolai Hardtail :)
The fork is from Neil's bike and Neil doesn't even know.
Well played Blake.
Hahaha
That part made my day
What travel size is that?
@@TGameMaster1993 170, scout has 140 standard
@@hugohammond1301 170 or 160 ?
Doddy: did you steal those off Neil's bike
Blake: what how did you
Doddy knows.
Props to Blake running a hardtail for Megavalanche!
Straight up savage 🤘
running clips is suicidal..
@tittlemouse92 yeah i don't even do that on a road bike. Stupid.
The brakes should’ve had “sramson” on instead, missed a trick there haha
Blake is a beast..the fact he raced that on a hardtail makes him a great rider..ordered my nukie,,cant wait
Blake's face at 9:03 "Who told you?" BUSTED 😂 🤣
This is pretty much my affordable dream bike, im currently saveing for this bike, slowly getting there tho.
UPDATE!! : I got some money and I bought a Trek Ex 5. Im so stoked and happy its properly the most expensive thing ive bought
The used bike market will be awesome in a couple months/a year you’ll find something.
@@MrDocSeus How come? You think alot of people will quit cycling by that time?
Walter White I think a lot if people are going to be getting rid of their impulsive bike purchase. Not all but enough to make the used market competitive. Market correction at its finest, if you go on the used market now you can see it already happening, people letting go of barely used bikes and trying to flip them at retail or sometimes even with a markup.
It becomes even more affordable when you take someone else's fork. It's genius.
I built up a near exact build without carbon parts for just over 3000 cad
you did good amazing job ,everyone should check the results
next year on the tandem with Martin
Still shaking my head at the insanity of Blake’s amazing run! Thanks for sharing a tour of his chariot.
Love the technical discussion of riding position and weight distribution! great video!
Lol...Hardtails dance like a mad ferret...thanks Doddy some of your expressions take me back to the late 80s early 90s and 'getting bounced out of the saddle' certainly a jogged on my memory and reminded me of early my own HT days.
7:36 how small the bike looks when doddy stands next to it😂😂😂
Massive Props to Blake watched the race only crazy people ride that on a hardtail
Damn... Just damn.
Doing that race on a hardtail is hardcore. Respect.
Long life to the hardtails bikes!
I had to have abit of a laugh when Doddy stood up half way through the review next to Blake’s bike.
Hardtails rule 🤘. Awesome bikecheck 👍
Beautiful bike can’t wait to get mine
Beast of a bike
Thank you Blake and Doddy for the insight on how it was set up for such an epic race.
Neil can you do a reaction video about the forks lol
Awesome stuff #GMBNTech
This was nourishment for the soul
Hello, first of all i absolute love watching GMBN. You guys actually got me back it to mountain biking built my confidence back up, it has helped me so much in other ways. Mentally and physically. So I thank you guys for that. Blake, what a man! I watched this a few times never gets old 🤙🏼 also baught the GMBN Jersey and mug to show a bit of support .
SO I have a giant fathom 2 2020. A entry level bike I know. At first it was just to get back out there on a bike and just ride for fitness with a bit of fun along the way. Things have changed now I have headed towards the more technical down hill side of things. I want to do a bit of a project. Making it in to a aggressive /enduro hardtail but will the frame take a 140mm/ 150mm travel on the front? Will this work? If not I guess I'll sell it and purchase another bike.
thanks! 🤙🏼
Likely my dream bike.
Ha I also managed to break my saddle riding a Hardtail, on my daily commute to work. Pretty weird when you notice you saddle feels weird and you look it up and one of the steal metal rails is completely broken off. Saddles what a nun sense.
Good God Doddy looks like a giant when he's stood up by Blakes bike!
Hardtail love! 💙
Hardtail LIFE!!
RED CALIPERS💪Cool bro👊
Awesome bike!
Wow, that's my dream bike 😍
I already had 2 of them 😂😂
@@MartinTeerly what happened to the first one lol
@@George-je1fs cracked
@@MartinTeerly oh that's not good to hear
@@George-je1fs sorry 😂
I'm riding a hardtail single speed for 12 years now. It's tough 😅, but love it.
Wanted one of the scout for long time. Maybe this year if the wallet let's me
Love this boys
First snow just hit Oslo went out on my canyon al slx. Had a blast after break swap, but with out ice spikes it got a bit sideways downhill. So my ass/lower back is now shopping for a seat stem
@7:42 Doddy you’re giant, you make that look like a kids bike! 🤣
Tom Fuller I’m pretty sure Blake had said he was 6 foot 2 in so that makes Doddy 7 foot😂
My scout got delivered the other day and having only owned 26" wheel bikes it looked/felt massive to me but soddy makes it look tiny 😂😂
what a beast !
Why on earth did GCN did a bike hub sound check and GMBN a bike weight check. I thought the stereotype's the other way around?
Pushing boundries here!
Megavalanche on a hardtail. What a baller.
When Doddy stand up next to the bike, you realise just how much taller than Blake he actually is! It almost looks like he's going over a kid's bike! (No shame, Blake, I'm also a shortarse)
Doddy looking like a giant next to Blake's bike
AWE.... Mad respect for bombing the hard tail
👌nice rig👍
So how did the fork/headset cups affect geo (HA, etc). You touched on it, said you'd come back to it and never did.
And the seat tube angle too of course.
It would be at 71.5, which is not that steep..but he doesn’t climb there anyway.
@@purpleturtle8841 , yeah, but it would be nice for the reviewer to explain that and their opinions on it.
Nice bike I’m looking at getting a nukeproof maybe the scout .
awesome
Where did you hang the vuvuzela you were playing all the way down?
Amazing! What travel did he use on Lyrik?
This video sold me on a scout
What kind of MRP upper chain guide mount is he using? I just bought this bike but I dont know what kind of mount to buy since theres only one hole for mounting
Just about to buy a scout 275 frame to start my first ever build so this video is very interesting.
What are you planning on building it with!? Let us know 👍
@@gmbntech still working on the exact spec, but thinking it'll be full SLX group set, RockShox Pike RCT3 140mm, the rest is undecided.
@@gmbntech is the Nukeproof Scout the best hardtail? I have a Cube Aim SL 29 but not sure if it's worth upgrading or just buying a new Nukeproof Scout.
So he previously ran a 29er full suspension, but then runs a 27.5 hardtail.
I would have gone with a 29er hardtail, you might roll over a lot more.
did he change his fork color or not because it looks sick
I think I'd want a full-susp 29-er for the Megavalanche..
I would have run it mullet style, the 29 would really help over those big rocks.
What model is the bike computer Blake used to record his data from the event ?
How much head tube angle this bike? I heard Doddy mention its different from standard Scout but he not tell the detail..
wicked bike just goes to show you don't always need full sus
The nukeproof scout 275 race comes with a 140mm fork , can i put a 160mm one on it ?
Blake I know this is a 3 year old vid. However the geometry of has not changed to dramatically on the the 275 scout. I as curious of the flex in the frame? Like did you you notice much flex int he bottom bracket/Crank area whilst riding as bike of older, same theme of "agessive trail" had alot of flex in the BB area, did you notice any flex or similar that was a concern that you though was abit to much to what I am asking about or that it did flex enough begin AL and the inherent traits of the metal??
Can an average Joe try the MEGA? I mean is there any qualification required to do or just have to pay the ticket and show up?
I want a new frame think about full suspension but I really love this bike and I am a bmx motocross background rider like too jump
Doddy looks like a giant next to that bike
Found out Yesterday that diamondback had there exclusive right sold to Canadian tire here in Canada and there no longer going to make there Sync'r which was an amazing full pull through boost bike with a 140mm front shock aggressive trail bike at 1200$! Next cheapest bike I could find with full pullthrough boost was the kona big hanzo at a considerably higher cost.
RockerRobin Does this mean us Canadians will start seeing CCM’s that are just rebranded diamondbacks then? If so, that may not be a bad thing.
@@AndrewGroat7 unsure found out on Saturday my brother had a Sync'r on order at our local bike dealer as the Sync'r was sold out we were waiting on the new batch to be built by early August. Still waiting on diamondbacks response on the situation.
What is Blake's height?
we need Blake's Crab bike check please
What’s the fork travel on this bike, an what travel can u push it to on a hard tail, thanks
rip man i really liked the dude
?
He saying rip cos he rode hardtail for mega event
Is there a reason you didn't use a suspension dropper post?
What's it like to jump now it has a longer fork on it?
Blake should race the redbull rampage on this bike that would be the coolest thing in history
Wow!!!
So why did Blake choose a harttail? Because he's Blake, who else would be crazy enough?
I love it, but I doubt that my Commençal Metra HT will be left behind on a descent. If someone doesn't want it, give it to me if they don't care.
Anyway it is an option to buy in the future.
What’s the axle to crown on that lyric ?
63 ha?
A bit of insight into how the 170mm fork handled and affected the geometry would be great! I’m keen to stick one on a scout...
I have a 160mm Lyrik on my Scout. A little floppy on the steep climbs, but worth the trouble IMHO
@@davidcorbett7332 what is the travel limit for a fork for the scout 2021 frame ?
@@experiencewithmartin972 I’m not sure, but my guess would be 150mm
@@davidcorbett7332 so there is more risk with his setup then, correct ? Because I'm thinking whether to order a commencal meta or not. Do you think it would be able to handle such ?
@@experiencewithmartin972 you would definitely be pushing the strength of the welds closer to the limit like that. If you are looking to go with that much travel, I would get something that was built for the stresses of it.
What is the best trail bike out
Nukeproof scout or the vitus Sentier VRS?
Knowing a bit about frame geometry, I sure don't understand the slack head tube angles that we build/buy today. Compared to my 26" wheel 1995 Nuke Proof Ti. bike, (I used to work there), these new bikes corner like school buses.
Too bad the Zeb hadn’t come out for this race and build.
What’s the travel of his lyric fork?? Thank you
You forgot to ask Blake about the grips.
How much was the bike?
talking about aggressive :))) i have 160mm on my bike fox 36 elite GRIP 2.
Should've used maxxis wet screams, would provide more traction on the snow
Snow is like 1/8th of the entire course.
@@Tenspeed1 not eaven that
9:00 laughed so hard! hahaha
1:36 is that a willy drawing on the bars in between the stem? xD
Lmao
Why does everyone at gmbn ride nukeproofs? are they sponsored? I don't know anyone else that rides them
He joined the dark side, the Clipped side
No, the dark side is road.
@@th_js no the dark side is not being on 2 wheels
what shorts are you wearing there doddy?
What g string you rockin?
That thing looks tiny next to doddy 😆 🤣 😂
1:37 look at the gap in the stem
Xd
whats the frame size
Thought you said a 45mil reach at first, lol
On the other episode Blake run SLX brakes 🤔
I bent my seat like that on my full sus during a crash in whistler
wow
show how an unsuspended bike bounce from the ground after 2 feet freefall vs. a fully suspensioned bike
Do you have sale for this bike?
