the green retention thing at the bottom of the video is very effective when used for sponsor breaks, but kind of an annoyance when you’re using it for main points of your entire video. 😕 have confidence in your audience and content, which is amazing and more than good enough btw, instead of resorting to retention tricks!! 👍🏻

You save your tires by controlling your acceleration. It's called self-control. In an emergency, being in chill mode might be dangerous. It might be the difference maker in a life and death situation.

About software updates... I have a 2018 Model 3 (just can't part with it) and it still gets every software update - up to current version. Recently, I even got the 30 day free trial of full self driving including ASS (totally blew my friends away!). My 2018 now has 108,000 miles and is still in flawless condition (still have battery and motor warrantee!). When I drove my Tesla off the lot, I knew within 3 blocks I'd never own anything else -- ever. I just need to get one of those bumper stickers that says; "I bought this before Elon went nuts!"

Quick audio tip. With your lav mic that close to your throat, the sound is very 'throaty'. You can curtail that by pulling a little of the offending frequency out with the EQ in editing. probably about 800hz to 1khz (experiment with it).
    Good info in the video.

  • @janoleolsen

Consider pumping up the tires 10% above specifications. Then the uneven wear will be a bit better as middle of the thread is worn the least. Also if you notice ABS kicking in, in the curves, it will result it lots of wear on the inner side (hidden from plain view unless you use a mobile phone to peak behind them), making you see the metal threads of the tires even if the rest of the tires look not worn at all. I've experienced this with both model 3 and S.
I don't try to burn rubber, but tires often get down to legal minimum levels after 18000 km. This is fine, I don't want to drive in Chill mode🙂

Important to know: LFP Batteries do NOT like 100% state of charge either! The Battery management system needs to know where the state of charge is. That's the reason to charge it to 100% once a week so that the BMS knows how much energy the battery has in it!
But LFP do not care much about low state of charge, but I guess not under about 5%, because the chemistry is much more stable.

For the NCA batteries Tesla recommends long term storage of the packs between 15-50% SOC. This is from an EPA document. Jeff Dahn recommends charging to 75% to avoid damage to the positive electrode that have high nickel content. At that point the electrode expands and gives off a tiny amount of oxygen. It is a really small amount of damage with the battery still expected to do huge mileage but avoiding charging above 75% regularly should keep it going much longer.

100% is for accuracy which only needs to be done once a week. While LFP does degrade some at 100% it is much less than NCA. The worse thing to do is very low charge on either one. Typically 20% for batteries but for Tesla the number will say about 15% since they overestimate which gives a bit of a buffer under 0%.
