Important Note: At the end of this video, you cover 3 ways to disengage autopilot. Two of those 3 methods will disengage both autopilot and adaptive cruise control. The 3rd method (jerking the wheel) will only disengage autopilot, but your cruise control will continue. Not knowing this could potentially cause an accident.
@pyoodiepie , not true. I've tested this on multiple Teslas, those with autopilot only and those with full FSD. In both scenarios, jerking the wheel only exits the autopilot/self-driving, but maintains the speed of adaptive cruise control. ONLY the break or pushing up on the stalk will disengage both.
@@chuxter7 I just tested it. Here are my findings: I set it for FSD 1st go and then set for Autopilot. Both options turned off the TACC as well as the Steering control. I do remember in the past you could drop just the steering control and keep TACC in place by a slight turn of the wheel. The solid blue use to turn to a blue circle outline and TACC would remain activated. It is not doing that anymore. perhaps they realized it was a safety issue and changed it in a software update.
If someone changes your settings on your profile, you can just click "Restore" to your settings and they'll go back to what you had saved. Unless, they happen to "save" the changes they made, which I'd doubt they'd see.
on disengaging adaptive cruise control/lane keeping, you didn't mention that if you turn on the turn signal, you don't have to jerk the wheel, but changing lanes does disengage the lane keepingwithout disengaging adaptive cruise control. Also, when you do jerk the wheel, lanekeeping is disengaged but adaptive cruise control continues. Very useful video.
Andy, another great youtube by you. I always learn something. I have noticed that almost all Tesla UA-cam providers NEVER mention the benefits of "Navigating to Supercharger". Even if the SC you use is the same one time and time again, using the navigate function (you can mute the voice) enables the cars CPU to prepare the battery for fast charging and in fact, prepares the battery for the best possible charging and long life (contrary to opinions and echo chamber reverberations). So if you want both long battery life and fast charging, navigate to your supper charger and let your Teslas smarts get your battery ready for charging on the way. The next best thing is everything that Andy says and has said.
Hey Andy, great video. Worth knowing that you can now press the wiper button on your indicator stalk and use the roller ball to adjust your wiper speed. Now you can change it to something else like acceleration mode.
Sometimes pushing the button doesn't work, yes it happens at my house occasionally but the other way to open the charge port is to just tap it with your hand or the charge cable. but
Only thing you missed is the hard reset. Done by changing the tire configuration in the service tab. Has to be done in park. I’m still waiting on my service call, and this is keeping me going. It’s only happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks and 2k miles.
Ok, something I have forgotten on all my 2500KM or longer road trips, is check of chargers that are not working, and yes as reliable as Tesla is I have had 5 pedestals that were in cable or connector cooling fail mode and only giving 32KW at a low state of charge over the last year. Strange even after the third time I keep forgetting to check on the Supercharger status when route planning.
Which model do you think is best for Colorado weather. We get the heat. We get the rain and we get the snow. I wouldn’t know which model to choose even though the double moonroof exposure scares me because of hail
An actual mistake I’ve seen: 8 cars sitting for over 20 minutes at a full V2 supercharger with a line pulling a max of 75 kW when you only need 10 minutes to get to a V3 supercharger where you’ll be able to get 250 kW.
Some models don’t even benefit going to v3 over v2 so calling it a mistake is a lame opinion especially considering the time it will take to get to the v3 and get charging again. 6 of one and half dozen of a next bro.
The difference between V2 shared and V3 non-shared superchargers can be seen by the skinny cables on V2 ones. Beefy cables are V2. Not sure, but V3 might run at higher voltage, which reduces current and wire diameter?
V3 and V2 voltages and currents are the same because they’re set by the battery. V3 is thinner because it uses liquid cooling to keep cables from overheating instead of relying on thicker, more expensive copper.
The mobile connector does not come with the car. It's been an additional purchase for years now. Come on Andy, you know that. And you forgot to say the charge port door can also be opened by pressing on it. I can't stand vanity plates either. People complain all the time about how expensive it is to register a vehicle, yet they have to problem paying extra for a vanity plate. That's just a waste of money. Not sure I'm ready to trust auto parking into my garage, without a way to stop my car like Summon had. I want Summon back, my HW4 Model Y is almost a year old and still doesn't have Summon, like my 2018 Model 3 had!
12:00 I like not having to press brake when changing from drive to reverse and back… however I got in this habit and I forget when I drive my gas work car now cuz I’m so used to it. not good.
If you set the car to record when you honk, isn't it only going to record the time leading up to the honk and nothing after it? usually an accident occurs after the honk
Hi Andy, Regarding supplemental Supercharging for those who don’t have access to charging at home or work, what are your thoughts on free (or two-hour limited) destination or shopping center chargers (generally using the J1772 charging adapter). I would like to get a Tesla Model Y, but don’t have the ability to charge at home, and want to preserve the battery, as much as possible.
Data from RecurrentAuto (big battery data collection/reporting tool), showed surprisingly that constant supercharging really didn't seem to make a difference re battery degradation, so.. .don't worry too much about that. Charging very hot >100F ext temps and closer to 100% seems make more of an impact... It's definitely more of a hassle & time sink than home charging, Level2 charging is fine, same as charging at home.. just not as convenient or as cheap (unless you find free!) One hour probably adds 20-30miles, same as home, so... for mall etc chargers, it's more a nice little top-up, it would be bit painful to rely on that for full charging. That's more what workplace is for, if your car sits charging for 6-8hrs, you can fill up entirely.
He gave some mistakes while charging at home and at Superchargers. But mostly a how-to video, which is great content for new or inexperienced Tesla drivers. Maybe this will prevent another uninformed Tesla driver from splitting your charging speed while at an empty V2 Supercharger. Hopefully, these videos will prevent another stupid article about people getting stuck in their Teslas.
too many cameras, but not having a good backup camera with a 180 degree view is a bit ridiculous, most of other cars (especially German ones) have 1 wide angle cam in the fornt and one in the back and one display to show what's behind and what is in front of you so you can easily pull out of any parking spot where you view is blocked by 2 big cars on each side of you and in Tesla it's always hoping no one is driving too close and fast as you are trying to back out of a parking spot...
Biggest mistake is “fill ‘er up”! Do not always charge to 100%, especially you Uber drivers etc in the winter! It takes forever and you are wasting everyone else’s time. By far the biggest user error!
I just picked up my Tesla Model 3 refresh a week ago and didn't know the charging bundle wasn't included like the 2021 was! Not sure my Tesla agent did not share that with me...
@@vrdog9660 yes, or you would need to use super chargers which isn't the best for your battery. Installing a charger at your home is also the cheapest way to charge, and you wake up every day with a full charge. I only charge on the road when I take long trips.
I've heard that before, but really don't understand the issue with 1 pedal driving. On long decents, my SOC actually increases, whereas if the car was coasting, it wouldn't consume power, but certainly couldn't regenerate any.
One pedal driving is more efficient, considering it puts energy back into the battery. Hence the name regenerative breaking going down a hill will actually add range
7:02 set a gps trip to the supercharger and it will prep the batteries for for optimal and less damaging charging
