Maybe I should need to explain that the need to periodically charge to 100% is not just to recalibrate the current integrator, but also to allow the BMS to balance the cells. Failing to do so, will leave the battery with cells out of balance, which degrades the battery. But indeed keeping the battery at 100% SoC, will shorten its life as well. So the solution is to plan a short trip once a month and charge fully (with a slow charger) right before. When it shows "end of charge" it means the cells were also balanced. The idea is that you plan ahead for this and get the "end of charge", right before you hit the road 🙂.

We drive 62 miles one way, five days a week, and our warranty for the battery and drive will expire soon. Doesn't research suggest that for age degradation there is no practical lower limit. The lower the better, but above 0%. Of course this is not practical and there is also important brake points in the aging curve where aging slow down.. From what I've seen the most important is at 75% (indicated in Tesla, 70% actual) for LFP and 65% indicated (60) for NMC. There are no additional, but rather lower degradation lower down. A daily SOC going from 30, 40% to 50, 60% should be perfect, of course depending or your daily need.

Teslas LFP have a bad temperature management. It heats very slow. At cold temperature it need more than 1 hour driving before warm enough for good super charging speeds. This is from real experience from owners in Norway. Due to the abilty to take high cycle numbers on LFP you can almost ignore degradation from charging. 1-100%. 40 - 60% same same ish. Age degradation will take the largest piece all the time. And for age degradation it does matter what SOC it's in. There is a breake point at about 75% on LFP (65 at NMC) where degradation increase. Staying below that on a daily basis as well as under long term storage is better. That is, if a longlivety is a concern.

This is very accurate. The FSD in snow deactivates on every stop sign and stop light. It will be okay on highway but any slight slip on tires and traction control engagement disables it.

Misleading video. Thats with every lease. Never leased tesla but i leased audi, bmw, infinit and they all have the same thing. End of lease you will be charged for damages. Not just tesla, dont scare people with this video for no reason. Ive been leasing for 20 years. If theres any damages then im gonna teach you a trick - got to body shop get it for cheap price instead of paying tesla for the repair ( which willl cost 3 times more) then return the lease. Presumed that you preheated the battery for each charge event. If so, this kept the battery quite warm for most of your trip - wasted heat bc of your “frequent” charging stops. Also heat pump is less efficient when it’s well below freezing, so your energy dedicated to cabin as well as battery heat was high. Cabin heat required is way less in the 2nd (and successive) hour(s) of a trip vs the first. It appears that battery precondition is what hurt your efficiency the most. Another thing to consider - cold winter air is much denser than warm summer air, and this difference (along with driving speed) really matters to a super efficient EV. Must drive slower in cold air to preserve some efficiency.

NCA is better for winter driving. Impact on range mostly comes from heating, so Higland model 3 with heat pump and NCA battery will probably only lose 10-15% range in winter.
