- How's it going guys! I got my intake in and while I was searching for a Tutorial, nothing came up. I decided to record my process to hopefully help a few people out. It was pretty straight forward, let me know if you guys have any questions!
Intake: www.uspmotorsp...
Thanks for the tutorial! I’m about to do this soon to my mk6 and wasent sure if I could do it this way. And thank god Christian came and helped get that bumper off! What a champ!
Buddy, you're Cool, awesome! hahah hey your video is so underrated and it's pretty helpful. I got a Mk6 Jetta 2.5, which is gonna be a project car. Went for the injen intake ( it has a more deep bold tone, makes the Five Cylinder sound like a TTRS in person) but there's no relocation kit for the reservoir (their quick solution was a short ram intake which is a NAH for me, you know, it's all about the cold air advantages) , so I'm thinking on buying this relocation braket, it's the perfect solution, thanks mate!
Do u have a link to the relocation bracket??
@@doloresberry3144 I'm also in need of this magical bracket
thank you for this video, take his advice and take the grille out so you can pull the bumper off further. Also if youre having trouble with clearance and your pipe is rubbing on the headlight housing take out all the headlight screws and oil the headlight out enough to connect the crank case breather hose and get the pipe and coupler on the throttle body then tighten everything up
Did this on a mark 6 JSW (2.5), instructions are pretty similar minus the EPS&AT relocate. Great advice with removing the bumper, would not have been able to do this lol very tight fit with that filter even with the bumper off. Sounds beautiful with a stage1 ecu tune
Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for the tutorial! Got mine on today, it sounds amazing.
I didn't end up having to take the whole bumper off, I just squeezed in there and got everything on.
Awesome man. Thanks for your support, and I’m glad I was able to help.
No it’s not bad the cold air in thru the plastic engine cover cools the top of the engine and dissipates the heat from the top of the engine without it the heat coming off the engine just sits there on top of the motor and could over heat electrical components such as the cvt sensor and solenoid. That’s the correct way it was engineered and it was engineered that way for that specific reason it takes cold air directly from outside the engine bay that while traveling cold air is sucked in directly from outside the engine bay and into the plastic engine cover dissipating the heat coming from the top of the motor. However if you missing cold air induction pieces already then this would be a good way to feed the motor cold air from outside the engine bay, so it’s a good idea for your situation but it still first do anything about dissipating the hot air coming off the top of the motor. Hopefully this won’t cause you any issues with any of your vehicles components on the top of the motor. This exits heat could also prematurely ruin your vehicles rubber pcv diaphragm which usually goes out anyway. lol.
Good insight, I’ve put 50k miles on it since install and she’s still running perfectly fine.
I got better AFR' with a K&N filter in the stock location than when I had a cone filter
Just bought a 2010 2.5I golf and I’ve been doing mad research on intakes, there’s not that many forums out there for the 2.5s ): This video helped a lot, might consider getting that intake. My first option was the APR carbonio but i can’t find it anywhere sadly
I’m glad you’re part of the 2.5 Gang. I know we might not have a lot of power, yet... but they are reliable and sound awesome (exhaust vid soon). You should join the VW 2.5L Group on Facebook, lots of info on there. USP is going to be your best available choice, actually a Cold Air Intake. Keep on eye on it, because it usually drops down to 200-250 on sale, pretty frequently.
Will this work on a passat? Looks like the same engine bay
Yo’Vanni : The God
You can install a beetle 2.5 engine cover as well
The second intake hose for the cat, I have one. Where do I find the right filter to go on the end of it can’t seem to find one that fits in any auto part stores
I haven’t seen them in stores. Here’s the specific one that I had for my first car that had SAI.
www.uspmotorsports.com/SPULEN-Breather-Filter.html
@@whatsaninlinefive7009 did that small filter showed at the start, come with the kit? Or did you have to buy it separately
I had to get it separately. @issachernandez5035
@@issachernandez5035 ^^^
Careful, I Hydro locked an engine doing an intake like this on a Fiat
Dang, that sucks. Thankfully I’ve had this intake on for a while, haven’t had any problems.
@@whatsaninlinefive7009 Just watch out for deep puddles. After that incident, I started using a hydrophobic filter from Injen on other builds with a CAI.
Can we get a video update on the cold air intake
Sure brother, I'll try and make a quick video sometime within the next week.
Be carful with rain water and puddles since it is close to the ground
Haha yeah. And I’m also lowered about 4-5 inches. But I’ve driven this in bad downpour, and have had situations where I’ve taken a turn and seen water spew up from a puddle deeper than I thought.
But the intake, especially with the Hydrophobic Filter cover, is doing just fine.
Noticed you have a start button ..Is this something you added yourself ? Thanks for all the useful info
Negative, the car is an SEL, it was tough finding a manual SEL. SELs have Keyless Entry and Start Factory.
Was thinking about buying this air intake you used in the video I'm pretty new to cars and I'm not sure if putting it in the automatic 2.5 SEL would cause problems because the USP website says the fitments are for manual transmission but I'm not sure anything helps thank you.
I could have sworn USP had one for Auto Fitment. www.uspmotorsports.com/product/usp-cold-air-intake-system-automatic-transmission-for-vw-mk6-jetta-25l-75005376?adpos&scid=scplp5346&sc_intid=5346
I'm about to try this kit in a 2013 beetle with the same engine. I'm hoping it will fit since the front ends are so similar to the mk 5 golf.
That’s gonna be some good info to know.
Ever thought about a lightweight crank shaft pulley ? Saw some 2.5s doing it
I have. Any tune that lets you rev past 6.5k RPM is going to cause belts to be thrown off, so there are 2 solutions. You can get a lightweight pulley or a TTRS pulley. Both will decrease the chance of throwing or ripping belts, but only the TTRS pulley will help your engine stay balanced. The reason people don’t like Lightweight pulleys, especially underdrive, is because they don’t help to dampen your engine’s Imbalances, especially with a 5 cylinder that tend to have more. There are people who run them just fine, but personally I’ll be installing my TTRS pulley when I get tuned.
@@whatsaninlinefive7009 where could I get a ttrs pulley that fits mk6 2.5 golf
@@JayLatt You can buy a brand new one from a dealer, or one from eBay. The PN is 07k1052443aa
@@whatsaninlinefive7009it bolts right on to 2.5 golf ?
@@JayLatt Yeah, the TTRS pulley bolts on to the 2.5, both in the golf and Jetta, and even the Passat
Looking around for just the relocation bracket for the power steering with no luck..
Yeah. Unless you can find someone who is just selling their used one, (if they’re swapping to EPS), it’s gonna be difficult to find one. Maybe you could email USP MO directly and see if they can sell you just that part.
It can be ordered from Colombia
Does this USP CAI work with the 2.5l vw automatics?

Auto specific.
Will the filter being placed underneath is subject to inhaling water from rain
Yes, but your fender, undertray, and bumper should repel most of the water. I added a hydrophobic filter cover (one that repels water) over the filter, never had issues. I also don’t have my fender lines anymore and it’s been raining. No issues.
Do you know where the air is getting sucked from? My concern which is why I haven’t bought it is because I don’t know where it’s getting the air from. Plus I’m concerned about water getting in it
The Intake is located right behind the fog lights. As long as you run fender liners and a hydrophobic filter, you should be fine. I’m lowered by a lot and I haven’t had any issues
@@whatsaninlinefive7009 Would this work on a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SE 1.8T?
Willie G negative
Oh yeah yeah wow is that a good location for intake
Does the CBUA engine require the EPS&AT relocate?
Not for the CAI no, only for the IE Intake manifold.
What if it rains? Has it been a problem or ?
So I’m still running fender liners. I also run a Hydrophobic filter cover over the filter. Haven’t had an issue going through puddles. I don’t look for them, but when I do hit them, I haven’t had an issue, even in the heaviest of rains. So no problem, just don’t drive it in a flood, and get a hydrophobic filter cover.
Great video, buuuut... a lot of mk6 golfs have hydraulic steering, mine does
Oh shoot, really? Didn’t know that.
Does it fit manual?
nvm i got to the end of your video i saw you cars a manual. thank you for the tutorial
No problem brother. If you’re ordering this, make sure to buy a hydrophobic filter cover. It’ll add some peace of mind whenever it rains and you hit a puddle.

@@whatsaninlinefive7009 your the best brotha
Where did that little filter you had go?
Depending on the engine, you may have a California emissions pzev engine. I didn’t. But if you did, there would be a 2nd hose connected to the intake that you would need to push the filter onto.
@@whatsaninlinefive7009 ok thanks. Also, have you ever had any problems with heavy raid or water clogging it up?
Negative. I did add a hydrophobic mesh cover over the main filter
@@whatsaninlinefive7009 awesome that's what I was going to do anyways. I appreciate the info man
