Just a FYI the SPA Turbo manifold comes with a spot to save people from going to grainger! and its cheaper :) Doesn't come with gaskets though
Awesome bro i just liked a subscribed from jump me and my wife just recently bought a vw jtta 2012 2.5 and ive alwaysz been a diyer love to see the stuff very informative for me im currently trying to start a stage one this would be my first build aside from my old E36 i owned a couple years back
Dude thank you so much, it's hard to find any install vids for my 2012 jetta
Thank God I watched this before just buying the manifold, I also have the vacuum delete kit that you have. Would've not know what to do! Where did you get your attachment and what sizes did you use to get it all to fit? I have a my long cold air intake that cost$350 and wouldn't want to have it go to waste.
Check out “THE ADAPTER” in the description. Thats what I used to connect the vacuum pump delete to the manifold.
I’m doing this to mk6 golf. Really cool to see how different the same car is. My pcv system routing is totally different.
after doing this for years, the best approach i've found for the 3rd runner bolt is to position yourself over the passenger fender, standing perpendicular to the motor. drop you right arm under the intake manifold and with your left hand, hand off the bolt to your right hand. seat the bolt, then with a small allen key, take your time and tighten to spec.
After a good heat cycle, go back and tighten all the mounting bolts, as they have a tendency to walk themselves out from time to time.
@@VoyageRC prolly best to lay a towel on the plastic of the radiator support. key thing is to relax and breathe. its such a compromising position that you feel youre going to snap your arm if you sneeze wrong. but with enough practice, you'd be amazed how fast you can pop on/off the whole setup.
with regards to the breather hose for the brake booster, you can run an NPT fitting to off of one of the intake bungs and create a new line to the brake booster. i bought a second brake booster hose purely for the booster tip, and fashioned my own OEM looking hose from black braided hose.
I have it on IG under the same username
@@myspacenrg I have the IE intake on now so all that is finished up the proper way. Lol
Do you really feel it's pushing harder and worth it?! Yes on the crank the manifold gives 40+hp but to the wheels and driving i wonder if it's a slight increase or completely a different car 😏 for me in canada the intake itself with the tune would cost around 1400.......
The big hole on the bottom came plugged up on yours, mine came without a plug. Do you have any idea why or if thats a defect?
My car does not have secondary air injection. I have a lot less piping running around.
I'm smoking challengers and camaros with my 09 2.5 Jetta. They look at me like "wtf just happened?" Lol
Hey buddy, I just bought the SPA Turbo intake manifold. Very similar to the IE one, however it doesn't come with gaskets. I went and bought the 5 small ones but I was wondering if you could help me find that one big gasket that goes to the SRI. Cheers!
Did you upgrade your fuel pump with a pressure regulator? And for the rpm reving down too slow get a blow off valve .
No fuel pump upgrade needed. This is a naturally aspirated engine. Blow off valve makes no sense.
Heads up, those lifting bracket bolts may be 9mm. I had it all pulled apart then found out the 10 was too big and the 8 too small. I was a little irritated to say the least lol
Which tube is taking the breather filter? The bigger one or the smaller one that’s usually right next to it
I put the filter on the tube coming from the oil filter housing. Should be the smaller tube.
Super stoked to pick this up soon, but my 2008 Rabbit doesn’t have a MAP sensor, has a MAF instead. Does the IE manifold come with a block off plate for where the MAP would go? That’s my only concern.
No plate included. Not sure if there is something on your stock manifold that you transfer over. You have MAF only? No MAP?
@@VoyageRC Would you look at that… I just peeked under my hood an I have a maf AND map sensor… 😳 I guess no problem after all! LOL
@@JimmyBreedlove haha yay! I was going to say, it would be really weird to not have a MAP sensor.
@@VoyageRC and I’m over here thinking it’s weird to have both! 😶 That’s why I never bothering looking for the map lol All my previous cars domestics and imports both have had either one or the other. This is my first German car though, go figure! Thanks for having me go look! haha
For someone who never worked on cars but is mechanically inclined, (rebuilt carb on a Suzuki 250) would you recommend I do this myself? I have the IE manifold + IE CAI coming next month as well as the IE valve cover, IE Vacuum pump block off plate, and IE block breather adapter.
Will be going on my 2.5 manual 2013 golf.
Also would you recommend doing anything else to the car while I’m doing these upgrades?
The install isnt to difficult of a job. There are just a few steps that are more difficult than the rest. I talk about them in the video. Thats a good list of upgrades. It might be worth looking into a catch can since you are doing the valve cover.
For the intake how were you able to tell if your car was hydraulic steering or electric. I got a Mk6 2013 SE 2.5 I5 and can’t tell at all. I’m new to the all the tunning/modding stuff and trying to learn.
You will have a fluid reservoir up near the battery for hydraulic. Your 2013 will be hydraulic. They did away with the electric after the Mk5.
@@VoyageRC thank man, sorry if I’m bothering you with these questions. Your vids have helped me a good amount with what to do. Keep up the great content
@@VoyageRC last thing, what can I do with the car since it’s hydraulic steering. I’m looking and I do y think the power kit would work on my Jetta
@@JoaoFerreira-ov2ey you would have to relocate the reservoir. I am unsure if the manifold would clear the pump though. It might have to be modified.
curious should that gasket be at all visible when sealing the throttle body to the manifold?
I am about to get my 2006 VW jetta with the 2.5 5 speed stick I wanna do this but in cover of your video what are the set up with those rims ? 🤣
why didnt you just cut the injen intake to shorten it?? my question
I didn’t feel like hacking it up. I opted to let someone else get some use out of it. Also, the bend is in a weird spot to just make a cut and call it good.
Great video
If I install this. do I have to do stage 2 ?
Or can I still Run it as it is ?
You would probably run worse without the tune. I have never tried it with the factory or stage 1 tunes. It is designed for the stage 2 tune. 🤷🏼♂️
do you really want to use threadlocker on the intake bolts? I'd be worried they'd snap off the next time you want to pull it.
how much hp will the engine make with those mods?
@@VoyageRC I'm from Brazil and I wanna swap it to a car, just want to know a baseline hp with some of those mods
@@VoyageRC seems good. maybe with etanol and exhaust it will make 200bhp
Hello, in which page or place can I buy that intake manifold aluminum?
They dont make it in aluminum. It is cast. I ordered mine directly from IE. You might need to email them if you just need the manifold and not the power kit.
@@VoyageRC Can you help me a little more in how to get it because I am from Argentina and it does not exist here and I have a friend there who brings it to me but does not know where to buy it please
My 2.5 has the shitty hydraulic steering pump in the way 😢😢 I need help
So does mine. I found a solution however it will require a bit of elbow grease. I am planning on removing my factory power steering pump and replacing it with a volvo electric power steering pump (600 new, ≈150 used). It uses 80 amps so you can use a stock alternator on it (I’m planning on upgrading later however). You can then use the golfs accessory belt, and put the pump in a remote location (I plan on putting it where the cold air intake would go in the fender since I have a SRI). This would allow you to keep the hydro-power steering but free up the space for the manifold.
@@ohyeahyeah4312 Can You Tell Me If You Do It Please I Would Like To Know What You Do I Have the Same Problem...
what if you don’t get it tuned
The manifold is designed for the stage 2 tune and vice-versa. Not recommended to do one without the other.
Lol take the black piece off the top front and u can get a hand in there to get 7lbs of pressure to tighten think a little bit
Did you buy the Power Kit? If not, what intake are you running with this manifold?
I made my own using exhaust pipe and generic intake tube pipe and parts from Autozone. I had my filter in the fender.
Hi so basically I have a 2012 Jetta 2.5 and I want to be able to do the stage 2 IE tune but I need the manifold and what not but it says the car needs power steering. Do I really need power steering? and could I still do it if I don’t have it
@@miguelsalazarjr4712 the vehicle needs to be ELECTRIC power steering and not HYDRAULIC power steering. The pump for the hydraulic system will cause clearance issues with the IE manifold. If you are electric PS then you are good to go.
@@VoyageRC ok and how would Ik of my car has EPS!?
@@miguelsalazarjr4712 Hydraulic would have a pump that is run by the serpentine belt sitting up top by the stock intake manifold on the passenger side of the vehicle. No pump = EPS
